Believe it or not, that's "typical" for O tinplate.  It may be getting power from the center rail, but to complete the circuit it needs to return the current through one of the outer rails.

yea but how do I get the circuit to be complete when the center rail is insulated???

As stated before 1st you need an ac transformer not dc(ho/n) second one wire to outside rail and one to center rail (the 2 outside rails are usually connected by the ties the center as an isolation piece of carboard) If you have problems don't hesitate to email me I'll help you all I can depending on wheater you have conventional O-27 track or you have some of the newer stuff as to how easy to connect the older type I can send you a clip that connects to the track that you connect the wire to.

You may even get to like the Oversize gauge.

well my dad's engine is not what you call typical... It gets it's power from the center rail not the outer ones the 3rd rail. It's a MARX 0-4-0 and it's 40+ years old.

Thats why I said hook one wire to one of the outside rails and one to the center rail . By the way my oldest set is 75 years old its from 1931.

email me your address and I'll send you a pice that clips on your track that you conect the wires to it makes it real easy

Howdy Y'all,

Jeffery W.- Thanks so much.

Made an appt. to see the Dr. on Mon. I may have carpal in my hands and forearms. Yesterday I lost feeling in my hand and dropped my sander while working on a layout. It landed upright so no breakage. Today dropped it twice but caught it before it hit the concrete. Both hands go numb and hot prickles in the fingers. I'm rt. handed and turning pages just kills. I'm typing with one finger due to the pain. Hope the cure is excersize or a brace instead of surg. cause just paid off the $1800 from 05's heart cath.

Got a customer so gonna go.

Ooops, that's not good.  Whether it's carpal tunnel syndrome or domething else, it doesn't sound like something you want to continue.  Hope it turns out to be something that can be cured without surgery.

On another note, just got back from lunch.  I made Ryan's Tomato Soup recipe today, and it turned out great!!  Dinner [dinner]  Ryan, you might not recognize it as your recipe, between ingredient substitutions and my less than polished cooking technique, but Fran was pleased.  She was surprised to hear that I had come up with the recipe on a model railroading website.

Catch you guys later.  Time for a post-lunch siesta.

Hasta luego

Good afternoon, just got home from work a little while ago. It was busy today.

Trent: Sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel. That condition ain't nice. I had it in both wrists at the same time. The cure for me was simple hand exercises. Still hurt like h**l though.

Ed: Sounds like that soup is pretty good. Did Fran think that Model Railroaders can't cookChef [C=:-)] or something?Laugh [(-D]

Good evening gents, full day outside rototilling, and yard work, we have to take advantage of this great weather, sooner or later we will slammed with a Nor'easter.

TRENT: Sorry to hear about your Carpal problems. I saw plenty of that at work in the computer industry, some people got buy with wrist supports and wrist exercises, others needed surgery.
Regarding your question about Ho road widths, all you ever need to do is take the full scale measurement, then divide by 87 to get HO scale. If your road in real life is 22 feet, then take 22 and multiply by 12 to convert to inches, which will give you 264 inches. Then, divide 264 by 87 ( the scale reduction for HO ) and you will get 3.03. Just round off to 3.0, no sense getting nuts over 0.03".

PA Belt: Let me give you a hint of the future. When many of us were your age, we had rock n roll music with Elvis, et al, we had our souped up cars, etc. Then we hit the 20's , got married, raised a family with all the things that that entails like scouts, sports, school events camping, etc. Then still later , now in our 50's, our children are out of the house, married, and grandkids arrive at the house. We try to spend some time doing a few things we like, like Model railroading, or rail fanning, or talking pictures of trains and train action. We have slowed down too. That is because our bodies have been worn down by everything we did since your age.
Now we take time to enjoy the simple things in life, like peace and quiet at sunset, or a beautiful sunrise, soft music instead of punk rock, or heavy metal, etc, played so loud that now we have destroyed much of our hearing. We love to share thoughts, daily happenings, family activities, weather, etc. with our friends in this virtual coffee shop. Many of whom we may never get the pleasure to meet in person. We share their pain when family members are sick, or pass away, we share their joy when they are happy over a new child being born, or a new RR car they just built.
Life is a journey PA, live each day with joy because you will never see it again. Each moment spent in anger, or despair, or in depression, is one moment that you have robbed yourself of joy and happiness.

Trust me, you will come to realize the joy of quiet and peacefulness, like snow falling in the woodlands. I have been through that forest that you are travelling, now I am on a hill looking back at you, trying to tell you where the safe paths are........enjoy your youth in joy, love, common sense, and safety.

Evening Gang: Boy, getting old is tough sometimes. It should be reserved for the young. My right eye is the one that is giving me a tad of trouble mostly. Your eyes change all through your life and I guess this is another change. My wife had her exam today and it came out well. She may have to have her cateracs removed someday.

I got the Walthers cataloge today. They have a new Santa Fe depot on the market. It's one of there standard designs that happens to be the one in Weatherford Tex. That's the closet town to us. The only thing that is wrong is that it's in Nearly Invisable scale. Angry [:(!]Disapprove [V]Censored [censored] I've been thinking about doing a scene with the depot but didn't want to get into a scratch building project. Ed, switching scales is not an option, I will not be assimalated. I can hope that they will release it in HO too. Sigh [sigh]

Well it's back to work tomorrow. It's been a nice 4 days off.

Hey Trent, I hope that the carpal can be handled without surgary

Well it's off to bed. My best to all.

I used to have a Coronet, or more exactly, a Dodge Aspen Coronet RT, with a 426 Hemi, crossram high rise intake with twin Holley 800 quads, high rise cam and ram air induction. I sold it in 1987.

Mornin all, farmers special n coffee Janie,

Another cool start here for the day, 40 out now. Looking for a sunny day, highs in the low 70's. I'll be out enjoying it, the weather geusser's are say frosty by next weekend.

Worked out all day yesterday, got the garden laid by for the winter, other than leave mulch, whick will come shortly. Trees are changing colors fast now and looking mighty purty.

ED, the warm day sounds good, but you can keep the rain and humidity..

Trent,,, sure hope therapy works. #3 daughter had surgury for her's, says she still has some problems with it still, just not as bad

RT,,, your wifes gona hurt you one of these days.

Grayfox,  geuss I was lucky, I learned early to take the time to enjoy the little things in life, just seem to enjoy it more now. Nothing like a beautiful sunrise to start a day.

Last night we went over to the campground with Bryan n Penny, built a fire and watch the sun setting in red sky and the full moon rising almost the same time it seemed. We talked some, but mostly just listen to the night sounds, made for a great end to a nice day.

Gotts pic of our cats, the one with the white stockings and the leave me alone look, was my fathers day present Lil Tom. The other one is the thing that mother brought home from work and done it thing in the bus, Fuzzy

Working back outside today after a trip to Casey. Jamie called last evening said, her n the kids are coming down. don't know if their spending the night or not. Leroy, J Bird and KC will be here this evening too, do know their spending the night. Fixing a pot of hame n beans, an corn bread for supper.  Best get ta chores, hope ya'll has a gooden

Oooo, Bill, thanks for the cruller!  How'd you know I like those?

Hi Chloe!  You're looking all bright and bushy tailed this morning.  How's about some of that world famous coffee of yours to go with that cruller that Bill gave me?  Thanks!

So, I've been kind of in and out of it for the last week or so.  I guess moving will do that to you.  Been 10 years since I did it, so I guess I'm not too good at it.  We got our dining room table delivered yesterday.  It looks great.  Now, for the first time in our lives, we can seat more then the four of us at a table.  This new one seats 8.  I forsee a turkey dinner with a bunch of family in our future!

Well, I'm going back over to the old house today to begin moving all the train stuff.  It's time to introduce the trains to their new home.  Gotta grab that, some lumber, and some tools.  You know what comes after that, right?

So what's your plans for the day?

One of these days Question [?]

She already done that but I don't learn to well lol. Banged Head [banghead]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Oh well thats life you see where my priorities are trains first then other items. lol. Should it be any other way ??

I look at it as investing for the future . I can sell them little by little when I retire hopefully for a good proffit and have it as an income.

Need to sit down and make an list though of what all I have then keep it updated . Also put down aprox value so I have that incase I ever need it .

If I counted right the other night in my head I'm upto 14 Engines (not counting the dummies or b units) and 40+ cars not counting what is still to come in that I have won/ordered.

Oh well all take care see you later
