Here I is getting ready to hit the road for home. There is not much going on except some guest managed to break the barrell on a fiber glass 6 pounder cannon that was in Ft. St. Louis. They must have been sitting on the muzzle end. It broke just behind the trunions. Now all I have to do is figure out how to put it back together and make it so someone can sit on the barrel and not break it.

The weather here is hot. Much hotter than it should be at this time of year. I guess we are in for another year of heat and drought.

Fergie: Could you post the address to you backyard pictures again? I have looked for that post and can't find it. I wanted to show them to Mary Ann and the simple way to do that is to print them out here at work. The dial up at home takes so long.

I'm out of here. I'll check in later tonight.

That sounds just like the one my brother had. He added a pair of fuzzy pink bunny slippers with big floppy ears. He was the hit of the prom!

Have fun, OK? And be safe!

Afternoon all, barleypop please Janie,
been quiet day here, haven't gotten anything done, arthritis acting up again. Went to a couple yard sale this morning, picked up a G scale battery engine for 50 cents, don't know if it runs or not yet. If not, it'll be parts for another one. Also got a 3" and 6" calaiper, an a 6" steel rule for a couple bucks. Mother got little kid cloths and a 2' monkey for Jbirds.Plan on going to the flea market early tomorrow, maybe I'll find more trains there.

Scott , You be carefull out there tonight and watch for the other fools.

PC, I bet you were sure cute with pink bunny ears and slippers.

Got a few train pics to post laters, plan on going over to the campground afterwhile and do some stuff, maybe I'll get some more.

Good Afternoon, Zoe - I’ll have a root beer float with an extra scoop, since it’s so hot and humid today. I think we’re almost to 90 (F) this afternoon (and the humidity isn’t probably far from that.

Sorry for the delay getting into the CS lately. I had a little distraction the past few days, and barium is now my least favorite flavor. Tuesday evening, my left side of my gut (about 3-4 inches below my ribcage) was hurting a little. Wednesday a.m. at work, it got worse, so I called my Dr. and went in 1:30, spent the rest of the afternoon there and left with 2 prescriptions and an appointment for a CT scan Thursday morning. That didn’t take too long, but my doctor’s office was closed Thursday and I’m still waiting to hear back from them. [:(] So I don’t know what it is, but 1) the order for the CT scan said it was to “rule out diverticulitis/peritonitis,” and 2) the medications (an antibiotic and what’s called an ‘anti-infective’ - what’s that?) seem to be lessening the pain some. Still have discomfort when I get up, move around much, etc. Pain in the [censored]...(side! - yeah, that’s what I meant to say)... Just impatient to find out and get going with whatever the doctor says we can. The restrictions in my mobility are very frustrating (not that I’m the first person ever to have to deal with that). Thanks for letting me vent some, guys. [soapbox]

On the MRR front, I bought some trucks that were on sale, and when they came in, our MRR club prez (whose specialty is trucks & their history) told me that they’re all of too recent vintage for my layout’s time (1950’s). [:(] So I’m debating whether to apply a corollary of Teffy’s Law, and use ‘em anyway, or maybe donate them to the club layout (which is modern in setting). Oh, goose p[censored]p! (S’cuse me there, Chuck & Kathy. ) Our club prez did show me in the Walthers’ sale catalog which trucks would work for my time period, and recommended some brands to stick with, so I guess I can chalk it up as a ‘learning experience.’

So, Paul, did you get that gondola seat padding installed yet (on the 2X12, not on your bottom [;)]) A lot of us in a certain age range have developed, uh, how should I say... natural padding to take care of that? [swg] I’m surprised nobody else has complained yet. I’m sure it’s not comfy for others riding the gondola. Has your friend John registered with Walthers yet for his wedding? [swg]

Mikeygaw - good to see you’ve been in the Shop. [#welcome] back to Adam, too! [:)] Looks like everyone’s been coming back around while I was out. [oops] Nice pics of your layout (the old one) and best wishes for your progress on the new one. It *will* be worth it! [tup]

Mikey, what’ve you been doing on your layout? Fill us in the next time you’re by the CS.

John, where do you find rocks with enough texture/detail to make molds from? When I’ve looked, the rocks I find seem to have too large of detail to be usable in Horribly Oversized (and you’re in Normal!) scale. Clue me in, please! Oh, I certainly hope your afternoon temp was in F degrees and not C... (ouch, ouch, ouch!)

Ryan, good to hear your son’s going to be in a good school (and, is excited about it - should help his coursework for the school year). Thanks for the links to your new plans. (Inquiring minds and all that) [;)] They look like you’ll be pretty busy once you get rolling! Of course, if that gift card was from Home Depot, you could help *** keep his upfront parking spot, but... [:-^][:-^][:-^]

Forgot who mentioned it, but I went ahead and downloaded all my pics from Railimages to my hard drive; also opened a Photobucket account today, to get ready for switching over. On that RailImages move to RailBoard, I’m afraid there’re gonna be a bunch of broken links on the forums here from those who’ve been putting pics in their posts. So much for reading older posts and forums...

Good to see you in, too, TrolleyRob! Been busy at the museum?

Luc, how’ve you and Gloe been doing? Hopefully, well.

*** - [#ditto] Inch’s comments about watching your back with the heavy lifting! We don’t need any self-injuries around the Shop now. Seems sometimes like we have enough illnesses and such without our contributing to matters.

Oh, Inch, loved your Cubs joke - I’ll have to pass that one along to our pastor (who definitely is a Cardinals fan! Nice pics of the interlocking tower (and equipment). [yeah]

Fergie, you have been a busy gardener! (and Paul, too!) Best part about a rock garden is, they don’t require as much trimming as the green things...[}:)][swg] As Steve said, I’ll bet Lisa is quite proud of your work. Tell the truth, did she just supervise, or did you get her to help some, too? [;)]

And [#welcome] back in, Steve! Has anyone else heard anything from UKMatt? I was beginning to wonder if Fergie’s ship accidentally severed a transatlantic DSL cable by mistake... [:O][:-^][:-^]

I’m guessing that Scott is off to dinner and his prom by now. Hope it’s a great one, Scott! [tup] (But maybe a little less caffeine, or your date may not be able to keep up with you...) And definitely watch the other drivers out there tonight!

MOW Phil, hope your chemo goes well and quickly. Good that you ran into another MRR’er while you were sitting there. Of course, it was good to bring your own reading material along - if it’s like some medical offices, the closest thing (at the best) they might’ve had would be some vintage MR issues (how far back did they start? 1934 or so?) [swg]

Not that I want to go out into the (flaming hot) main forum area, but what has the hornets’ nest stirred up - is it still the argument about how the forum is managed and such? Maybe some people aren’t busy enough with their layouts/lives. [sigh] Just my [2c], of course...

GMT/JR - sounds like you’ve been rather busy at work lately.

Jessie, where’ve you been keeping yourself, and what’s the news on your MRR’ing? You’re in here almost as rarely as I am! [;)][:O] Have a safe trip and stop in if they have any internet cafe’s up there you can use.

Chuck, if you’re going into the main forums, better wear your flak jacket. [:O] I hear it’s pretty intense out there.

BMTrains - do you always find the good buys that easily? [yeah][tup]

Sure, we believe you, PC...[swg] Right! [;)]

I might actually get some more work done on my layout this weekend, with the extra day! I think I need to do like DerJohn and others have mentioned, and get (back?) into a habit of doing something (even little stuff like putting Kadees on the cars that don’t have ‘em) every day or two. If I clear my workspace off on the DR table, I can do it sitting down (even while waiting for my side to get cleared up).

About time for me to start fixing dinner - probably be my broiled garlic chicken, brocolli and a salad, sliced peaches, and maybe I’ll get the strawberries I bought ready to have for desert (over some vanilla ice cream). Yum! [dinner]

Prayers for all of us with ailments and other needs, some good MRR’ing time in your weekend, and remember what it’s about (I’m a traditionalist, so I’ll celebrate on Monday *and* even on May 30th when I’m back to work).

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hellooooo! Over here! in the dark recesses of the CS. No to the DSL as Icebergs do a fine job on their own in that department.

Trainfreak: Didn't notice the pink but I'm sure you looked mighty fine regardless! Then again it doesn't matter what I think it's what the Ladies thought[;)]

Well looks like they'll float us Monday and head home soon after that. And that will be 3 weeks of Bedlam as we prepare the ship for the Arctic.

Anyway Time for the bunk!

Evening all

Chuck I was in the AF and I didn’t have it nearly as hard as a lot of you did when I was half way around the world, but I went to the Wall in DC and had a very hard time of it. We took my two daughters to DC when they were younger and they and my wife went down to the Wall and I stayed up on top because of how hard it was the first time and I was alone as well.
So,let me say to all that this is the time to remember each and every one that has and is serving but especially those that have fallen so that we can do the things we do every day.

Adam Very nice video and I am sure your next layout will be even better

I think I have seen some new faces,so let me say [#welcome] and this is a very good place.

Best to all that are on sick call[angel][angel][angel]

That’s about it
Talk to you later

Good Evening Gang:

JimCG: John is my son and friend. I don't know if he is regestered with Walthers. I'll have to ask him tomorrow.

Tomorrow there is a train show. Hot dog. I've got a loaded check book on me. It's a small show so I'm not expecting much, but you never know.

No model railroading tonight. It's after 8pm and I'm ready for bed. This getting up at 4am after 29 years is getting old. I'd like to get down and at least do some running but I'm too tired to even do that.

Well guys and gals I'm off to bed. A very Good Night to one and all.

Evening all -
Just a quick stop in before I head off to the shower and then bed. Had to run out this afternoon and get a new computer. The old one is about a week or so away from dying.
Had my graduation Wednesday night. Nice ceremony and a even better dinner afterwards.
Well, that it for tonight. Time for the shower and bed. Everyone take care and if I'm not back in before Tuesday, have a Happy Memorial Day.

Thoughts n prayers for all need, and some extra’s for the our men n women in harms way, may they be safe.

Mornin again, nother coffee Janie please,
Back from the market, not a lot of venders this time, figure it’s the weekend. Mother got some fresh veggies and cake pan. Ipicked up 3 hot wheel cars and a Avon train. Got vist with some friends that were there.

Chuck n Kathy , the Moving W all was in Marshall several years ago, and I pulled sunrise guard duty. When the sun cleared the trees and hit the wall, it glistened off the names. It was the only time I’ve seen it and have never seen it again, even though it’s been close.

Jim CG , I feel for you, I’ve have that barium test, NO fun. Glad you liked the tower picks.

Fergie have a safe trip home.

JP , congrads on graduating. Heres a cake for you.

RT , we have idiots down over the that run 4 wheelers all hours of the night here, and the cops say there’s nothing they can do, since there no county noise laws. At least they did put the baffles back in the exhaust.

NEAL , WECOME to the shop, Tell us abit bout your railroads like era and such.

Here’s a couple pics from yesterday over to campground C

I need to get round, so ya’ll have a good one.

I'm Back. The AC in the control room at Gold River went out again so I had to set up a bunch of fans to try and keep the place cool. I can't convince those in power that it would be cheaper to put in a decent AC unit than to replace $10,000 dollars of control equipment and have the ride down for a week or more. I guess I just don't understand big business.

I see you are still here Inch. I guess I'll have to bug out on you and do my paper work for this morning. I'll have to send an E-mail about the AC in the control room to. Not that it will do any good.

See you later.

Good Morning All,
It's almost morning still. Just taking a break between home chores and the start of Monaco/Indy. I'll watch the F-1 race and parts of the 500, but it doesn't hold as much interest for me as before. Can root for local boy Scott Sharp though he rarely does well there. I think the worst was when he dropped out on the pace lap because his crew left the warm-up plugs in his radiator inlets. Ouch.
