Afternoon Gang: Here I sit and wait on a call from the company that makes the bubble machines that we use. We gave up trying to get an account with them. They insist that a responsible person here at this park sign to cover any debt of the park. Yea, right. I don't think that we have any billionaries here that want to through there money around.

Chuck: Thanks for the heads up on the VA theft. I'll keep my eyes open for any activity in our accounts. Wouldn't you just like to get your hands on those folks. The jackass that took the records home too. I wonder which un-employment office he's hiding out at?

Nothing on the MRR front so far today. After work we have to take Mary Anns truck into the tire store and find out why it is fishtailing. It isn't bad but is disturbing. I talked to the manager and he said that when you put new high traction tires on the rear and don't put new tires on the front this sometimes happens. So there goes another $366.

I talked to my friend about his boiler. He said that he is going to cut out the back head and front flue sheet and find out what is going on. We both feel that the boiler shell is in good shape so he'll put in new flues and tube sheets and be back on the road. The boilers are marine types that have a fire box that is a large tube. That makes it easy to replace the fire box, back head, and front flue sheet.

PC. We'd better get ahold of Ed and have another load of the OJ sent up. Rest and OJ for the common cold.

Well I'm about to run out of things to bore you all with so I'll back on out. See you all tonight.

hi all i haven't been in here in a while, dont think i could catch up on everything thats gone on with everyone! So i have finally figured out what im going to do with my layout. It is going to be module style, all the way around the room. I think it will give for a more realistic look than two giant loops at two ends of the layout. and i am going to remain in HO scale. So if you want to see my current layout check out the website or stop by while you can because demolition and construction is scheduled for the day after school lets out!

Inch Try the Photobucket and I think you will find it is more user friendly as PC has said. You can only put so much into the free account though and when you get close to the limit they send you an Email to let you know. I was close at one point and took some out to make room. You also don’t have to type the address,all you do is highlight,copy,and paste.

Man! This weekend was crazy! I finished helping my parents on the retaining wall for the driveway. We started tearing up the driveway and we're gonna have somebody put in a new asphalt driveway.

Just a coffee on my way through. Still real busy with work, trip to Summit Point was not too good - more engine trouble and then a long ride through cross winds all the way home. It all started out promising though as I picked up one of my crew guys and we rode rt15 down to Harrisburg. Lots of trains near the end - lots of neat industrial scenery and a train store that had a couple of good cars in the bargain bin. Got an NYC baggage car that appears to be stainless or aluminum bodied. Genuine weathering (old age) and just needs trucks and body mounted couplers in addition to the doors rebraced.
All for now I'll try to check back in tomorrow morning or after I catch up the posts.

Evening All: I can afford the top of the page. We put the tires on the front of the truck and that did the job. It still needs king pins and the caster addjusted but it handles good now. To top it off the manager gave us the tires for $305 instead of the $366. Cut us a nice deal he did.

The calf is doing pretty good. It is a real job getting it down to doctor the wound and give it the shot. I'll have to debrie the area again but not for a few days. I'll wait for my day of on Thursday or Friday.

Tomorrow I have ot go to the dentist. Last friday I had a piece of sugar free carmel candy. On the first chew out came one of my crowns and a filling. I ought to know better.

I'm going to head for the shower and bed.

Good evening Coffee Shoppers: Too busy here and there, like 3 separate functions to attend on Saturday, to drop by recently. Have been able to do some more scenery however. All that talk of ***’s grass growing has inspired some greening of the scene I’ve been concentrating on. Gravel has been put down on the road verges, and the station parking lot. There’s a company road to the interlocking tower. (How would such a road – RR Company property crossing RR tracks be signed? Would it have to have cross bucks?





The road crossing at the interchange track has an uncoupling ramp, the mainline road crossing is just painted card; as is the one on the road to the station. I’ll add wooden crossings for the interlocking tower road. Oh yeah, also the road on the doorway module has finally got a coat of "asphalt"

All this work, and quite a bit more, has to be done first, before I get to detail the foreground too much. I’m formulating an idea for a low bench thingy that will stand on the finished scenery on legs with nails as feet, piercing the scenery and foam, resting on the plywood underneath. The legs would have to be tall enough to clear the scenery details, and the nails for the “feet” have to have their heads set in holes at the base of the legs so that the nails won’t sink into the legs themselves when I lean on the bench. I figure I can lean on such a bench without destroying the scene beneath it, and still get at the back of the layout. It’s 4’ 5” from the front edge to the back wall in the top photo, and 4” from the corner to the layout edge in the 3rd. photo. At the moment I’m using this side of the layout to get at the very furthest part, and my elbow is creating a nice depression in the unfinished foam! When I’ve done the worst, the papers and card can come down off the wall. I’ve practiced on one piece, and a sharp putty knife worked between the scenery and the card gets the glue from the sawdust mix unstuck, leaving a gap into which the styrene backdrop will fit, with any luck.
I’ve also completed my first three rock casting molds from the Albion RR coal, to re-familiarize myself with the technique. Now I’ve got six more in the works.[tup]

It seems I last posted on the 18th., so I’ve skimmed somewhat to get here to post tonight.

…I know what you mean. I was able to use a corner of the room to stack my loops over each other (well one over the other, other wise it goes on until it hits the ceiling [:o)]) . That has some problems, but does solve the “unrealistic” look to an extent. Do you plan on having your modules able to travel to shows?

Chilly but clear this morning. I'll have a regular and one of Bills donuts please Zoe. And I fancy the red cup in the backround if it's available. Spent an hour or so last night working on my Central Valley two track girder bridges. Nice kits but i need to offset the sections to make an angled set of bridges in order to keep the rooads in the built up section from running straight back into the scenery.
John Wood - Speaking of scenery, you are doing great work. The Metro North crew that shares our yard with us doesn't use additional crossing guards, but they do have signage warning that it is a restricted area and to keep out. Most likely the access to the interlocking would have been over the adjacent track and not over the double main. For sure there would be a locking gate to keep bewildered passengers from driving over the unprotected crossing looking for additional parking The locked gate wouldn't be a problem since if memory serves me the shifts in the older days were on the order of twelve on twelve off (if you're awake you should be at work)> Perhaps Bill T can fill us in some day on shifts and times.
Luc - hang in there - perhaps literally. One of my former employers was blown up by a landmine in Nam and his therapy for the times his back went out (also a slipped disc) included hanging by his hands from a pole. Of course this was recommended by his doc and you want to run stuff by yours first. My prayers for Gloe for a successful surgery and complete recovery.
Ed - If I didn't say so before, welcome back. You guys are scaring me with this no time in retirement stuff. Should I just plan on working so I can take time off?

Mornin all, how bout a farmers special, OJ an coffee today Zoe.
Sunny, high bout 75 for here this afternoon, I’m ready for some warm. Got 2 coats of mud on the pond yesterday, a little touch up here n there and it’s ready for the first coat of paint.
Worked on cleaning the camper and getting it ready to go down to campground C this evening. We’ve got rain coming in tomorrow and to get it down there while it’s dry, for this weekend.

PC , knew I could I could get a rise out of you with that. Glad your feeling some better.

Ryan , Mother says I still snore any position I sleep, but so does she. So it’s a race to see who gets to sleep first.
We sit out back a lot and listen to the birds too, guess that’s part of the reason we like to camp.

Good Morning Fellow Model Railroaders!

Chloe, a tall café mocha and some of those fresh hot donuts for me please! Not good for the waistline, but they sure do taste great!

Did you see the Hurricanes / Sabers hockey game last night? They are tied 1-1 in the series! Two goals on one power play too! Going to be some tough matches in Buffalo on Wednesday and Thursday!

We took Ben to an orientation meeting last night at Heritage Middle School; he is transferring there for sixth grade and starts in July. It is on a year-round track schedule, they have 6 to 9 weeks of school then a 3 week break in-between each track. This school was just built two years, really new and fresh, we were really impressed with this public school. He is excited too about going there and wants to be in the band; music is a great opportunity for kids to express themselves and usually creates better students.

I made more modifications to the lower level track plans, and started the upper level diagrams. I think it is close to becoming a final drawing, as I figured out the reverse loop and will be scraping the roundhouse and turntable at this time. I might be able to add the roundhouse to the end of one shelf though, still have to test out that option. My only concern right now is the transition double track main line connecting the lower and upper levels is planned at a 3.5% grade, it might be too much. But 3 ½ inches rise per 100 inches run does not seem like a lot, I will have to set up a test track at that grade to see how many cars or combinations of locos and cars it can handle. As they say practice makes perfect! Better to test it now before I actually build any bench work.

Actually, I really enjoy the hobby, and it is a great way to spend time with your loved ones, and to meet many new friends too! But, you all probably know this already!

Yea, I heard about that on the radio into work this morning, could be a concern, but I also heard that the data might not be of any use the way it was stored. FBI still needs to investigate the case.

Paul Thanks for the red beans, but I have had my fill, ate them for three days straight! I might just have to start up a methane processing plant as an alternative energy source! Also, I know what you mean about the tooth. I too have a crown that needs to be re-bonded, caramel has a way of pulling them out pronto! My sweet tooth has not gone away!

inch Like I said, ear plugs work great too! But you have to remember to take them out to hear the birds!

Hi All,

Just a stop in. The last three days we've been without phone service. I realized it Saturday and called Verizon. They told me that they don't work on the weekends in my area. Needless to say I was very understanding about it. We finally got back in service about 8:30 pm yesterday. They gave me a e-mail address to rate their service. I'm going to inform them how much I appreciate their quick attention, and how eager I am to pay my phone bill this month. Just for fun I'm going to tell them the joy I received from useing up my cell phone minutes.

Good noontime to all, I see I have the choice of seats in the CS, either everyone is eating late, or they arrived early and cleaned the place out. Cloe, some French meat pie please.

I have been helping son #2 build a reatining wall along the north side of his driveway. It is about35 feet long and 5 feet high, stepped down at the top in steps to match the grade of the hill. There is yet another 80 feet to build along the east side at the rear of his house. These are 80 lb blocks that measure 16" X 12" x 6" thick with holes in them and slots to receive pins that lock each layer together on a 1/2" setback for max wall height Vs strength. Very nice to build a strong wall, but let me tell you after lugging 80 lb blocks for the last two days....they are heeaaaavvvvyy. I am headed over the hill in a minute to continue the work. Model railroading is much easier.

INCH53 Mike, I like that Haley Tower!!! That is so neat, I want one for my back yard !!! I might set up a GRR and that would be perfect.

DER JOHN You are really making the rest of us look bad, and feeling bad John!! But, that is "our" problem for not getting to MRR as we should. Your layout is really taking shape mon ami.

We had a violent storm front come through the area Sunday afternoon, and Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, right near the coast, was now confirmed to have been hit with an F2 Tornado!!! It picked up one guys truck, with him in it, on interstate I-95, and gave him the ride of his life. He is alive, but pretty well banged-up, the truck is a loss.

…Thanks, I hadn’t thought of that because the main and the interchange track beside it are MT property, and the (as yet unidentified, I’m in no hurry [:D]) other main (red ballast) doesn’t own the interlocking tower. (Mainly because it’s twin will be in the MT yard on the upper level to give “continuity” to the structures on the layout.) I can provide a turn off from the highway and just one crossing is safer. More fencing…I hope my plans for making chain link succeed.

***: That’s a scary thing on the I 95. Good thing no other vehicles were involved, and that he wasn’t killed!

The latex I applied to the rock molds this morning is setting up nicely. 3 molds should be ready by this evening, and the other 3 by the morning. I’m looking forward to casting in them and seeing if my idea for a thin sheet of rock to dress up the tunnel mouths will work.

...Yup, that's easy! I lost a filling at the lobster supper on Saturday, didn't notice it until my tongue found it missing on the drive home! Next Monday it will get fixed, I hope. It doesn't hurt, just a hang-up place for food![V]

silverspike a.k.a. ryan the steel benchwork is extremely easy to work with!!! you dont have to run in and out of the house or to your workspace to cut wood, you can just cut it right in the layout room, all you need are some tin-snips. The only thing i suggest is wearing gloves while working with it, i got a few nasty cuts building my current layout from sharp corners!

Got camper bout ready to go this. Hopefully there’ll be some train moving through while we’re over there. There some of the stuff that was suppose to be in it, I can’t find, but that not surprising, we have used it since 1995.

Grayfox , better take it easy with the back on the heavy work or you’ll be down too.
The Haley tower was working the day they moved it. All they did was cut the wires and pull the computer that morning.

Jerry , I’d forgotten the guy that ran that was from over round Oliver, thanks for reminding me, can’t remember his name now though.
They have viewing stand you can use there, wheelchair accessible. Right along side the NYC tracks. I got a couple train pics from there too
Pond will be painted with artist paints, when that, a coat or so with gloss medium.

Hi Gang: I'm going to make tis a short one. Mary Ann and I are about to head down to the hay lot and put up a hot wire so we can turn the cattle in. There is plenty of grass there for them to eat so it may keep them happy for a few days.
