Good Morning Coffee Shop dwellers! It is a beautiful spring day once again, and it makes you want to play hooky and get out of any indoor activity, work, school, etc…

I’ll have a hot tea with cream this morning, and a donut or two too!

Well, the red beans and rice were a hit! And I paid the price too, and gaseous emissions were so prevalent that I just might have to file a report with the EPA.

[#welcome] TO THE WEEKEND!!!!!! Yippee……

Not much planned this weekend, I am going to make a trip to Lowe’s or the local Home Despot and get some fencing material to build a gate for one side of our back deck, and some mulch or ground cover for a small fenced in area we have for the dogs to do their business. Just a small project for this weekend, and hopefully will only take a few hours.

Ryan , red beans n rice, saugage, corn bread, does sound good, the more i think about it.
Zoe think I'll have that for dinner, along with a barley pop and a bottle of Beano, or I'll be sleeping in the train room tonight. On 2nd thought forget the beano.
AND
Morning all, coffee for now Zoe,
Cold again here, Sun this morning, rain this afternoon, highs in the 60s, I’m so tired of cold and wet. The hailstorm that came night before last, played h--- with flowers and such. Ruined some of them that were blooming heavy and beat the rhubarb down, The crop is not as good this year, but we’ll take what we can get, so I’ve got to cut it today. Most of it’ll go in the freezer anyway.

Too funny! So, Inch, did you end up in the train room last night?
AND, what is going on with all this hail? We have been getting it too almost once a week now for the past month. Rhubarb huh! Gonna be making some rhubarb pies for the CS soon?

You are welcome Cox47 aka Jerry! The beans were good!

Hey JP, Hope they left you some red beans, it was late when you stopped in! Maybe they had to make some more rice, I dun no. I thought I made enough!

***, Sorry to hear about the eagle’s nest. They are such a great sight to see, and can get to over 10 feet in diameter. Amazing how rain will make the grass grow faster huh! You can almost watch it grow!

Hey John Wood, thanks for the tip on the track plan, I will check out your photos on Rail Images soon!

QUOTE: Posted by Paul B,
Well I think that I'll hit the shower and get to bed. I used to be able to run untill the wee hours of the morning. I must be getting old.

Yep! I have to agree with you, I used to be able to do that too, but now much tougher the next day to keep 100% focused.

I'm going to be a class Dad today for one of my kid's field trip.

That is such a great way to bond with your kids, huh! I know my son appreciated it when I attended some of his school outings.

Thanks for the donuts again Bill T!

Good morning to all, I see that {blue] RYAN [/blue] just left the CS and left me two glazed doughnuts, thank you very much sir!! No word from the NS team this morning? I think they are sleeping -in late, must be raining up there.
And speaking of rain, it poured out again this morning for several hours, stopped now, and we may see the sun by noontime. I am so glad that we got most of the grass cut yesterday, with this strong late May sun, and all this water in the ground, the grass grows an inch a day I think.

Barring any disasters with flooding over the son's house today, I am going to finish watching Joe Fugate's 3 set DVD series. And, now I know where [blueFERGIE [/blue] got his idea for mechanical turnout controls!!!! You fox !!!!!

As I was watching the news last night showing the millions of dollars damage due to the flooding this week, I could not help but think that these very same people watched in horror and disbelief at what hurricane Katrina did to our neighbors to the south, thinking that they were safe from that kind of flooding, and.....here it is, 20" of rain and flooding of the the century in their own homes just 9 months later.

Well, time to leave the CS, no one here to talk to yet, see you later at lunchtime.

Kinda noticed your Absence as of late there JP. Must be keeping out of trouble[:D]

***: Thanks for the Precipitation map. Looks like it will be a wet Long Weekend [:(] We had a Thunder Storm pass through the other night and go just over 2" in a couple of hours.

Ryan: As for the Tsunami's... It's quite the learning curve and I was able to print off both manuals but we're talking over 300 pages of Techie talk[banghead][X-)]
So with the one system installed and programmed to a basic level I still have to get into the nitty gritty.

Well Gotta run

PS Got to talk to Teffy yesterday and he sends his regards.

Morn again, another coffee Zoe, I see Grayfox, got the last doughnuts, darn it.
Got the pics form yesterday up loaded. These are the ones of my LHS, Joe’s Hobby Barn over in Terre Haute

Inside

And the dummy L&N engine I picked up for $9

They've got some of bout anything for bout any hobby. Along with a slot car track [bulding on the left], a RC dirt track, and enough room to fly RC planes. If they don’t have it, they can get it.

Gumby , I used to do that once in awhile when the kids were in school, now it’s the grandkids. It can be fun some times, especially if you can embarrass them a little.

Ryan , I spent part of the night in the train room for snoring to loud, not for the other.
Think I might have enough for a couple 3 pies for here in the shop next week. Have to wait and catch Mother in a good mood.

Grayfox , hope there’s no disasters anywhere period

Fergie , wish my to-do list was that just outside. Mines bigger even on the inside

Need to get back ta chores, if I want any time for trains

der- …If I try that the mower jams up with wet grass, but I know exactly what you mean about wanting to get it done!...I like the yard, are you going to link the lead and the far end of the ladder so as to have a run-around there?

FOA, the mower did plug up... every round. So every round I shut it off and cleaned the grass out. The arrival / departure track is the siding next to the yard and the main serves as the run around.

Joke for the day.

Husband: Oh, come on.
Wife: Leave me alone!
Husband: It won't take long.
Wife: I won't be able to sleep afterwards.
Husband: I can't sleep without it.
Wife: Why do you think of things like this in the middle of the night?
Husband: Because I'm Hot.
Wife: You get hot at the darnedest times.
Husband: If you love me I wouldn't have to beg you.
Wife: If you love me you'd be more considerate.
Husband: You don't love me anymore.
Wife: Yes I do, but let's forget it for tonight.
Husband: Please...come on

Wife: All right, I'll do it.
Husband: What's the matter? Need a flashlight?
Wife: I can't find it.
Husband: Oh, for heaven's sake, feel for it!
Wife: There! Are you satisfied?
Husband: Oh, yes.
Wife: Is it up far enough?
Husband: Oh, that's good.
Wife: Now go to bed and from now on when you want the window open, do it yourself!

Good afternoon everyone, for you folks still not retired,

TGIF

the workweek is almost over.
We had several more downpours this morning and noontime, and I noticed that my weather station was not registering any rain amount. That usually means ONE THING, those pesty mud wasps have blocked the tiny hole at the bottom of the rain guage. Of course when I climbed the step ladder and then reached over my head to insert a long shaft drill into the top of the rain bucket, I got an unexpected shower, as the hole opened and the rain counter scale started to fill n dump, fill and dump until it emptied the entire rain guage that was dammed up. Sure enough, the monitor in the house is now registering the proper amount of rainfall since midnight.

INCH53] Hey Mike, I only ate the two honey glazed doughnuts, someone else ( un-named ) must have ate your chocolate covered, cream filled doughnuts !!!
The wife and I are planning an across the country trip one of these days, and your LHS looks like a very nice "pit stop", what do you think?

DING Ahhh the old mover shoot clogging up, or deck with wet heavy grass.
Cutting wet grass is a real no-no even when you really want to get it done before it gets any longer. What might help you, is to spray PAM on the underside of the deck and shoot ( if you have one ). Sears also sells a spray bottle of some similar stuff I suspect, that is supposed to keep the grass from sticking to the underside of the deck. I have tried it, and I can say that it DOES work. When I performed the start of the season maintenance on the big 48" 3 blade mower deck, I was quite surprised to see no grass clumps or hardened dry grass at all, just bare metal. Usually I have to spend 1/2 hours or more scrapping out the stuff and crap with a wide blade putty knife.

It looks like the sun is now coming out, so hopefully I can fini***he mowing in about 2 hours after things dry up, see you guys later,

Just stopped in to say hey,...Hey!

I just posted a track plan that I've been working on for some time now. I'd appreciate some feedback from you guys. Here's a link;

Listen, I've got to run. Those storms that rolled through here last night wreaked havoc on the phone lines here in central Indiana, so my desk is NUTS!

I'll catch up with you later!

Bye!

Inch Like the LHS and I noticed a P-51 on the right side in the second pic. I bought one last summer and it wasn’t really ready to fly right out of the box. Something I should have thought about and that is,check the flight surfaces to make sure they are set for level or a little up flight. It doesn’t look good when it goes into the ground on the first flight[xx(][:O][D)] After getting it sorted out,it is a nice flyer[^][8D][:)][tup]

I might help *** keep his up front parking spot at HD because I am thinking about picking up the first two pieces of plywood for the layout tonight.

Talk to you later

Go for it DUKE With all this rain, it pays to have a parking spot up front!!!

I got through the 3 DVD set by Joe Fugate, and there is some real good info in those DVD's. The 3rd one deals with wiring and DCC, especially using a computer to download programming to the locos on the programming track...NICE !!!

The wife and I are headed out for dinner at her cousins house, but the entire city of Worcester is in gridlock, so I have to use some backwoods roads to circumvent the horrendous problems. It seems that a trailor carrying LNG overturned on the Mass Pike this morning and both East and West bound lanes have been shut down for a distance of 30 miles. So, all the traffic from CT and NY using the Pike has to reroute through the city, and on Friday. So at rush hour, it is a complete gridlock situation like I have nev er seen.
Good thing I know all the backroads and cart roads to get there....

FERGIE That is quite a project list!!! I hope that the new dog doesn't have access to the garden area, otherwise, I may hear Lisa all the way here in Leicester, Ma
What is the breed of the pooch? She looks like she has some NewFoundland in her.

Hey guys,

Boy, it's been a while since I've been in here. The end of the school year has been really stressful lately, it seems like I have a project or something every weekend. But, it will all get better when School ends (only 13 daysn of school left!) Of course that means finals are comming up, and so I probably won't be in here much until after that.

On a modeling note, I got my MR special issue How To Build Realistic Layouts today, and what I've read so far has been good, I'd reccomend it to anyone who wants to detail their layout. There are some really good ideas in there.

Not much new happening on the Module. My group's next show isn't until September, so I've kind of backed off working on the module a little. I'll probably get back into it after school gets out though. I should have some update pictures then too.

Well, I better get going, I've got things to do. It looks like I will be gone all day Sunday railfanning up in La Crosse, so I've got a few things to get done between tonight and tomorrow.

Hi Gang: I came home for awhile and to get Mary Ann so she can go over for the steak diner. $5 fpr a steal dinner isn't too bad.

An out fit in California is making a model of a locomotive that I'd like. It's a Baldwin War Department gas mechanical in 4in scale. I was ready to start putting aside for it when I found out what the price is. It's $16,500 for the gas/hydrolic version or $15,500 for the battery electric. Ether way it's too rich for me. Back to the shop and building my own.

Time to head out. I'll be in tomorrow morning at work.

Noah -
I thought we all told you to not make excuses about not being in here due to school. We all know (from being there ourselves) that school and education always come 1st and foremost, no matter how much you may dislike it.

On my modeling front, I am patiently waiting for that MR special issue to arrive at my doorstep. I suspect that it should be anyday now since others are getting theirs now. As for my layout, I had to temporarily halt the building of it due to lack of freetime caused by my FF1 class. Next weekend is a long one (I have 5 day's off for it - 1 vacation and 4 regularly scheduled 'holiday' days) so I should be able to free up some time and get that back on track.

Ed, *** -
Sox / Phillies will be starting here in about 10 - 15 minutes. Go Sox!

Take care all! I have to get some dinner and finish work.
have a great weekend!

ironic, my mower deck is a 48" 3 blade too. (actually we've got a LOT of lawnmowers but this is the main one) I spent an hour scraping it a week ago and now I'll have to do it again. The discharge kept clogging up. It won't clog up if I leave the chute off, but I've got it on because it's always so windy and that keeps the grass from blowing back at me. Tell ya what, one of these days I'll post a pic of my mowin machine[swg]

Good Evening, Chloe - I’ll have a mocha and one of those delicious hot fudge sundaes, please. [dinner][yeah] Thanks, Fergie!

Fergie, that’s some 2Do list - is any of that from Lisa’s ‘HoneyDo’ List? [;)] Looks like wherever all that stuff came from, you’ve been making good work on it! You have a green thumb or something? [;)] Hey, your list could be worse - it could be a cat you’re trying to ‘train’ (now there’s an oxymoron: a trained cat... [}:)][:-^][:-^]

Inch - your LHS looks like most of the good ones (stocked to the rafters).[swg] Your engine looks like a good bargain at that price, too.

Hope the rain moves on offshore (like waaayyyy east of Nova Scotia, even) - I’ve just been glad it is moving out of our area (for now...), and I’m sure anyone up the Ohio river valley or in the northeast U.S. is completely fed up with the rain (right Duke? ) (I got an email from Duke earlier this afternoon)

I am a happy camper tonight - for a few reasons. My copy of the ‘Realistic Layout’ MR special issue came in a day or two days ago (it’s well worth the money, with one section by Joe Fugate from the forum clinics here). Also, our local library had a book (and magazine) sale tonight. They have ‘em once a year (maybe twice - this is the first time I went to one), and I found out that’s where they dispose of the older magazines - like Model Railroader(!) [yeah] I got all of the 2004 MR issues for $1.50(!). Those of you in the Shop might want to check out your local library to find out if/how they dispose of their older magazines (especially if they carry MR, RMC or another one you like)! Just a tip I thought I’d share. I figure that larger cities might or might not sell off their mags - for example, I know that Memphis’ public library sends theirs out to be bound (hardbound), so if you live in Memphis, don’t spend your time checking there.

JP - good to see that you’ll be able to get back working on your layout this weekend. [tup]

Noah regarding JP’s comments on the school work vs. MRRing... [#ditto] The academic stuff is important, and you can always think of it as helping you earn more money after you get out - for that MRR’ing and layout stuff we love to get! [swg] When summer gets here, you probably will have some more time available for work on the module and other MRR’ing projects. [tup]

Paul - that sounds like a pretty good price for that steak dinner [dinner] (yum!). That price for the gas-electric does sound way too steep for my blood, too! [:O]

***, good tip on the spraying the underside of the mower. I recall having to unclog the underside of the mower (back when I had to do that...). [:-^][:-^][:-^] One of the pluses of living in an apartment (yeah, there actually are one or two...)

PC the layout plans look good so far - I’d [#ditto] the comments about thinking what you like in a layout (mainline runs, switching operations, etc.) and adjust the plan accordingly. Myself, I lean in the direction of a local peddler freight and some switching operations. [:)]

Oh yeah, I also scored (off eBay) a MR issue with RDC drawings, and another RDC shell and an Ernst gearing kit. I’m planning on using Athearn shells and another MR article I found to make a more prototypical length and arrangement for the RDC’s (going to make a couple of RDC-1’s, couple of RDC-3’s (baggage/RPO/coach), and an RDC-2 or two (baggage/coach combine). I think I must have caught something from Siberainmo Tom... [;)]

I didn't go through all the posts, but from this page, it appears no posts of new significant health concerns going on. Hopefully that is true, but just in case, I will say some [angel][angel][angel] for any whose concerns (ongoing or recent) I might have missed.

I'd better get going and ready for bed. Got to go get groceries, pay bills, and a few other things tomorrow morning. Should be payday too (at least, the direct deposit should be in the bank...). Glad to see on the sports tonight that those Cardinals won against the Royals tonight. [:D] [yeah]

Blessings and a good (preferably dry) weekend for all,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Mornin all, coffee please Janie,
Suppose to be warm and sunny here today, hope so, I’m sure tired of cold n damp. Busy day for here, 1st is a trip down to Flat Pock and pick up some pellets, and head back here for 2 T-ball games. Then a wedding, and laundry in between, so won’t be much train time today.
Heres a couple pics from over in Terre Haute Thursday evening. These were at the old L&N yard on the N. side of town

duke , They sell quit a few planes and parts for them over there. We meet a guy there that scratch builds. The last I heard was, he was building a B-26 with a 4 ft wingspan.

Fergie , you were busy yesterday to get all that done. Hope today is easier

Grayfox , I think it’d make a great pit stop. Jerry an me are about 40 minutes west of there, just off I-70, give us a shout if you come through.

JimCG , That LHS is stocked so full, there’s not much room to walk around and look and the prices aren’t to bad there. Don’t know what our library here does with their old magazines. Know they sell their old books once or twice a year, I’ll have to ask Lee nexted time I’m there.

Well think I’ll go put some mud down in the pond, may be the only chance I have today. Hope it’s a good day fur all out there in train land

Hi Gang: It's a half day today. I'm off to the train meet I hope. We found a calf last night that had been attacked by coyotes or dogs. Had to get the vet out. The poor thing had been really eaten out beside the left rear leg. I can't see how the thing was alive but he was moving around and was hard to hold down. All the vet could do was debrie the site and pore a half bottle of fly repelent that we had on the wound to get rid of the flys and larvie. Now we are washing out the wound and spraying with fly repelent a couple of times a day and giving a shot of anti-biotic. The vet seemed to think that the little fellow had a pretty good chance of making it. I guess it's back to carring a rifle all the time again. I just have to remember to take it out of the truck before I come to work. No firearms on company property.

I watched them fire up the locomotive for today. I've never seen a steam locomotive operated with the steam chest valves open. Then they didn't manually lower the crossing gates when they moved her out of the engine house. They just crossed the road with people walking there twice. So much for safety. I guess that's what you get for low wages.

I think that next days off I'm going to just goof off. Yea right.

I'm going to head out. I'll see you all tonight or in the morning.

Good morning everyone, Cloe, you had better set a big table for FERGIE , he had been bustin his back doing all the chores, he is as hungry as a lone wolf !
The day statredt clear as a bell, but now it is completely cloudy as a small front moves across the area. If the grass dries enough, I might get the rest down this afternoon, but if not, all of next week is going to be CLEAR SKIES .

NOAH Your almost there buddy, hang in there and before you know it ...it will be June and MRR time full time , or at least after your summer job.

JP, ED Great game last night, seeing that they are playing in National League park, they can't use Designated hitter, and Pitcher has to bat of course. So Papi played 1st base and made a heck of a stop in the very first inning, then later he really crushed a ball into the upper deck. And, Matt Clement actually got an infield hit, although they scored it an error, but it was a tough chance for the infielder. Yanks got beat by Texas, so that made it all the better, a fly ball over Johnny Damon's head in 9th ...YESSSSSSSS.

CHUCK & KATHY Happy to hear that Kathy is back on track with health, and as for rain.....we have all you want Chuck, in fact, the weather patterns is changing as we write, and you will have your wish real soon good buddy.

INCH53 Mike, we will definitely look you up when we head west. Next year, more than likely in June, we want to go to Scranton, PA to Steamtown, then to Strassburg RR Museum, then head west to Altoona to Horseshoe Curve. How far is it from Horseshoe Curve to your area?

See you guys later,
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Good afternoon all!

Thought I'd drop by before heading off to the Philly Zoo. My family buys a membership which really saves big $$$. One of the benefits is an open house but this year the zoo is skipping the open house for a peek at the newly complete Big Cat Falls. The Zoo got a very big grant to replace the old home of the lions, tigers and other cats and this weekend members get a chance to see the new digs before they are open to the public. This should be fun.

I did manage to get one of the Walters cars back on the track. Just one more to go.

Well got to run.

Just a quick visit, we are still waiting to hear from CFO's surgeon for a date plus it appears that I have a slipped disk in the lower back. Extremely painful, let me tell you.

CFO is calling.

Afternoon all, barley pop Janie, Cubs n White Sox playing each other now, bet ya can’t guess who’s winning
T-ball games are over, had a good time watching those 4 an 5 year olds, some of them are purrty good already. Can’t give you a score, since none are kept. Each player gets 5 pitches to hit it, if not then the kids hint off the ball stand, and every kid gets a try. Games last bout an hour.

Paul animals are surprising healers sometimes. We had dogs get in to tour sheep one time and they chewed the butt out of one of the ewes. Called the vet and he fixed her up and she lambed twins the nexted spring.
Sounds like those crewmen need a refresher course in safety.

Grayfox , your way east of us, we’re clear over in eastern ILL. I’m guessing bout 10-12 hours from Horse Shoe curve.

Gumby , hope you had fun at the zoo.

Luct , the other half is still in our prayers, and we’ll throw in for a quick recovery on your slipped disk. I know how painful it can be.

Well need to get cleaned up for the hitching, so see ya’ll laters
