Jeff..Bet that was loud when that fell in your closet...Was anything damaged?..

There were a couple of old loco shells that were cracked and a bottle of alcohol was smashed. Beyond that there was no major damage.

Good morning I'll have biscuits and gravy please. And a cup of coffee, French Roast (ooooo) Thank You. Kind of a dreary day today so far, rained all last night. It's supposed to rain off and on today also. I have no idea how much rain because I haven't trusted the temps enough to set out the rain gage tube, maybe today. Did the Last Supper thing last night and I was Peter. The rain started after service started so when we came out it was raining gently. It was kind of appropriate though as you think of the events that unfolded that night and of the events to come tomorrow (today). Tonight I'm one of the centurions that escorts Jesus to Pontius (sp?) To quote Monty Python's Life of Brian, I "fwow him wuffwy to the gwound "at Pilates feet, and then to the cross. Hopefully I'll get som Mrr in today and a bit this weekend. Turned the trains travel clockwise again. Seems to run the bst. Plans are under way for a final expansion this will be a shelf type and as it crosses the room and doorway, I'll have a duck under. Oh well. I'll do some thinking on this one. Not going to be for some time anyway.

Lee-So sorry to hear about your Aunts passing. You and your family are in my prayers for comfort and for wisdom and patience for the decisions you will be making in the next few days.

Ray-BowBow

Sawyer- well you said it all. You're still in middle school. I agree with the rest, hang on. Girls are funny and when they become women, they're weird. Did you catch Ray's little comment? Re read his I before E rule, then look at the words that don't follow that rule. That's women. Girls tend to mature faster than boys. Soon you too will be saying, I love her but I really like her. Don't get upset when she does these things it will be your turn soon. Oh and don't worry too much what you've done wrong, because you'll never know. Even if she tells you, it may not make sense.Confused (THAT part never changes). Aaaah growing up. Those were some pretty good memories.

Philip-Thank you! The 2008 Darwin awards are being sent out via e-mail.

Various folks-Thanks for the congrats on the job. I think you meant Robby though. However, I'm thinking of coming out of semi- retirement and becoming semi employed, so I will take your congrats in advance. Thank you Approve Yes udder balm is great stuff. No, gloves don't stop blisters, I find callouses the best protection. Takes a bit to get a good set but it's worth it.

Krump- Happy Easter to you. As far as being ignored goes...., I wouldn't say that. Not at all. The thing about talking in this place is knowing everything you say is heard. Well mostly. Sometimes the pages get numerous between getting in and sometimes they just get skimmed over in hopes of trying to catch up. Generally most are interested in what you have to say. (Of course, like all of us, not everyone is probably interested in what every one of us has to say on every post enough to respond. I shouldn't use the word "interested" (that gives the wrong impression) as much as...... oh I can't think of a good word). What you can't see are the smiles, giggles or the nodding of heads as we read posts. Just as if you were sitting around a real table, not everyone responds to what everyone says. Many of us have gone unresponded to too. Many, many times. So don't take it personal at all. Just not everything gets a return remark unless it strikes a familiar cord or reminds someone of something...etc. Or you get a pie in the face if you aren't quick enough. Keep on posting and letting us know what's going on. And tell us that joke, the jokes have been pretty funny here lately.

Uh-oh, just been informed th e MIL is on her way over. Bringing the wifes cousin who is down from Ya Hey Der Land. Not a problem, But bringing number 1 SIL. She's kinda obnoxious. You know nobody does anything as good as her or hubby?!? Number 2 SIL, the twin of perfect wife, now she's ok, LOUD, but ok The oldest though .....Hey!! I have a train room!!!!!

Have a great Good Friday. This day was the day for US!!

Edit: Holy Moly, after seeing how long this thing is I think I'd better take the bill for he page from Rob!

Did you catch Ray's little comment? Re read his I before E rule, then look at the words that don't follow that rule. That's women.

Glad you picked up on that.........Big Smile   My late wife had a coffee mug way back when we were just dating (college) that said, "It's too late to agree with me.  I've changed my mind!"  Fit her to a T.  You just have to learn to roll with the punches that life throws your way, Sawyer.

Thank you to several of you for your kind comments on the photos. I'm still waiting on a couple of questions about the photo contest.  I want to have everything done right.  I would hate to cart the finished photos all the way up to Woodstock, Ont. only to have them say, "Sorry!"

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have the #2 special, scrambled, blackberry jam and a glass of Ed's OJ besides the coffee, please. Thank you, ma'am.

Lee, sorry to hear about your aunt, but it's good for her (and her part of the family) that you are there to get things lined out. Prayers for you and the rest of the family. Angel

Jeff, sometimes getting the 'junk' sorted out and straightened up is a very significant accomplishment for the day (oh, that I should do that this weekend...). Good to hear you're feeling better today.

Jerry, what'd you say to the caregiver that she slammed the door? Insult her cooking, or what? Wink How's your driveway/ramp and all coming along?

Krump, I'm with Jerry - tell us about what MRR'ing stuff you've been able to get to lately. Yeah!!

OH NO!!Shock Ray - are you cooking THAT bunny for Sunday? Surely not!?!Laugh

The rains moved through our area last night (and it was the loudest thing to bother my sleep, much nicer than the silly pager or w**k cell going off). Some clouds today, and we might get a little more rain maybe. Looks like a calmer day at the office, and my schedule isn't as full as it has been earlier this week. May even do some MRR planning, who knows? Whistling

Need to order my RMC subscription and get that renewed again today, then go by B&N bookstore and get the current copy tonight after I'm off the clock. Want to clear off the 'junk' from the dining room table (aka MRR workbench), put some freight car kits together, and see about some more progress on my buildings that are partway started. Might be too humid this weekend for any spray-painting, though. Think tomorrow after I get laundry done, I'lll head for the LHS down the road and pay my bill with him, as well as see what else he has to tempt me into buying. Or I might head for Chuck's Depot in Marion, if I get my laundry done quickly enough - I'm sure he will have something of interest there...

I'll slide into the window booth and watch the switcher doin' its stuff.

Blessings and prayers,

I found the culprit in the front truck of my U23B. A piece of ballast was weding itself between two of the gears. removed it, reassembled the truck, ran it, it runs fine. And my rsd-5 just needs to get it's wheels cleaned, I think.

EDIT: as to that I before E thing about using but, now I know she loves me because of that rule, because she said in the message she likes him but she loves me (she put love in all caps as well), so if I disregard what;'d before but, then she loves me. And now I will shut up about my relationship, lol.

Chris, I know it's funny about those Alcos, but it's the truth. A while back, I got a trio of C424/425s (for a whopping total of 30 bucks, or 10 bucks each). They all ran well when I tested them. 2 out of the 3 I got were covered in soot and smelled like smoke. One was a tad noiser that the others but it quit doing that. I gave up on trying to strip the shells (i messed up one by trying beadblasting, one got dunked in pinesol but most of it stuck; the clean one I still have), so I'm working on getting the shells from the newer Atlas ones on there. I just have to make coupler mounts before I buy the sill and the cab.

Sawyer, Whomever mentioned the "safe Island" is right. Be catious, she'll probably do it again since you took her back. One thing I don't understand is why am I giving advice if I haven't had a girlfriend in over a year? (which is really bad for being 19)

PC, those darwin awards are funny. I had an extra credit asignment monday which required me to print out one story off of their page (I chose "wheel of foturne," should still be on the page). Wonder why the guy who tried to rob a guy a police convetion isn't in the running?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good afternoon, back from meeting with THAT editor. Got a nice 20-something MPH wind blowing, so Chief will have to wait a day or two before dropping any matches. I'm gonna help a guy move a layout this evening. Never met him, but an old pal rounded up a bunch of us. The guy works at the LHS in Cedar Rapids, and we're meeting there...may end up disposing of some income/stimulating the LHS's economy. The old pal hosts a round robin group, I've just not had the time, etc. to do anything with it yet. Guess this is as good a time to justify my name on his roster as any...

Jerry: The hoity-toity writer's workshop is at Drake University. There's a lot of UP action in the area...just not in the nicest parts of town. On the way home, I might take I-35 up to Hwy. 30 (Ames) and follow the UP all the way home. I really don't railfan much anymore, after the Onion Pathetic took over the CNW, the bloom kinda fell off the rose, as it were. Now, I pretty much go trackside only if something special/unique is coming through, UP 1995 (CNW heritage unit) is a good excuse. I get to do quite a bit of train watching just sitting here in my home office. The east window affords (.30 cent word) me a nice view of the tracks, at least until the trees leaf-out.

Sawyer: Sounds like you've got yer head screwed on pretty straight... just keep your guard up. You're getting a good sample of the often fickle nature of the female. I once had a copy of an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for "women." Wish I still had it, I'd post it here for you. I just hope she isn't "playing you." Keep in mind, I'm something of a pessimist in general, and had my heart ripped out enough times I was thinking of having a zipper put in my chest...just to make it easier for the next one. My wife says I'm "bitter" about the ex-girlfriends...naw, I just have a lot of deep scars from them. As the cops say: "use extreme caution." An old Reaganism may also apply: "Trust, but verify."

As for in-laws from Satan's World... my evil, Spawn of Satan SIL (thankfully) won't come to our house...she's afraid of Rerun, thinks he's a "dangerous" dog. No...he makes a lot of noise, and doesn't particularly like strangers...but he's far from "dangerous." I'm NOT telling her that however... My MIL is an awesome lady. My FIL...well, I almost had to punch him out no less than six times on the wedding day. He's a smart-rear...and as one myself, I can appreciate that. His timing is often less than desirable...apparently, he's come close to getting free dental work via an angry fist many, many times in the past.

Time to go check out the afternoon "EMERGENCY!" episode on the RTN channel. I think I know which one it'll be, from season 2. They're showing them in the same order as the DVD set. Trouble is, they showed this same set about a month ago.

To all those in Mother Nature's path today/tonight...be SAFE!

Whew! They're gone. Dr. Pepper please.Only one coment from SIL1. "we've got that movie on DVD. It's not very good." When they went to the basement I thought Brenda would show her cousin Mary the layout. Then SIL1 would undoubtably respond again how her husband has one too, just nicer. I've never seen or heard about this "train set" before last year when SIL1 saw it for first time,(she doesn't come around much) and said "we have one too, looks like you have a lot of work to do." She's not that bad, just one of those gotta comment about everything

Coffee refill, please.

Greatest chance of Severe Weather is usually demarked in dark red, but for this evening we're in an all White area. Looks like it could get mighty nasty later. Will keep our two senior citizen mares up in the barn. Everyone else has a shelter to run under if they need to.

Our farrier just called and we re-scheduled. This way we won't get caught dodging lightning bolts, large hail, damaging wind and tornadoes. Tinytoons really needs her feet trimmed asap though, Hooves are very very long and her special shoes will not work for much longer. Tough call.

Rob: I just looked at the Storm Prediction Center's website... you ain't a-kidding! They've gone so far as to put out a "high risk" area, as well as "moderate" (which is bad enough), and the "slight" risk. Keep an eye out, and the radio/TV on.

NWS seems particularly nervous about this storm system.

Vincent, I used the island reference because I seem to be one.  I'm a quiet, easy going person, not the aggressive, wild, risk taker some of the local gals seem to like.  I always get "you're a nice guy but...." so we part our ways. But when boyfriend A, B, or C does something dumb, or there is a fight, the phone rings. I seem to be the island to swim to for a safe haven until they venture back into the shark infested waters.....

I dragged out the Minolta DSLR with a 3+ closeup lense.  Got some great shots of my mortar and weathering work.    Only one problem.... I can't find the data cable for the camera and the laptop only takes SD cards, not the Compact cards the camera uses.  Oh well, it's here somewhere........

Happy Easter everyone.  Have a great weekend.

Nah, most everybody does read every post in here. Some get a skim over if there's a lot to read. I used to think nothing I said was actually read or that I wasn't missed if out for a few days. But that simply isn't true. Not everybody may comment on your post, but they do get read. Ya Never know when someone has something important, funny, or serious  to mention or share.

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate and a great and safe holiday weekend to all also.

The prayer candles are lit for those in need of thoughts and prayers.

...I stayed home yesterday and rested up from the previous days stupidity/overwork and now I feel much better. About the most strenuous thing I did all day was to reorganize my closet....

Jeffrey- Stupidity? Nah! Overwork? Yeah! Around here reorganizing a closet IS strenuous...first we have to FIND the closet....then to reorganize what's in it...!

Well, I think I may have said enough already.

Hello to everyone else!

Have a great evening, and a safe one for those who  travel!!

Sounds like some of my mother's closets. First you have to get through the clutter in the room then open the closet. If you survive the opening and the resulting avalanche the cleanout can start. Now all items must be sorted through and cataloged then put in alphabetical order. Only then does the two to three day process of reorganization commence.

Evenin' folks!

Since Easter is only a couple of days away and many of you are expecting large numbers of family and friends over, I thought I would post one of my favorite Boy Scout recipes.  It will feed a large crowd and since Ryan hasn't stopped in his wonderful menus lately......  It is for a hearty Elephant Stew.  Enjoy!

Elephant Stew

1 Elephant                  2 Rabbits (optional)
Carrots                       Salt and Pepper
Celery                         Brown Gravy
Onions

Cut Elephant into small bite size pieces. (this will take about 2 months.)  Add enough brown gravy to cover.  Cook over kerosene fire for about 4 weeks at 465 degrees.  On the last day lower heat and add chopped up vegetables and simmer for 10 more hours.  This will feed about 3,800 people.  If more are expected the 2 rabbits may be added, but only if necessary as most people don't like to find hare in their stew!

We'll get there sooner or later!

Hi guys. Took me over ten minutes to get in here on this POC cellphone connection. Just letting you know I'm still alive out here in Orlando. One of these days I will get a proper computer but right now it is just too expensive for my limited teenage budget. I see a lot of old faces here and some new face too. Nice to see the place is still popular. See you at another time.

Goodbye from Orlando.
