Jeff- Nice picture! Love the Santa Fe hopper!

This isn't a Kalmbach problem. Something here (locally) is amiss. Google was showing "OOPS", for real. I've never seen that before.
Oh bother.... no MRR tonight, it's been a long week. My one sister is going through a meltdown with the family estate thing. The other sister, who everyone was worried about, is doing fine, all things considered. I sit here with a cat (ceasar) laying across my arm whilst I type.

Helped the wife dig & set posts for some grape vines. On top of the regular farm stuff, it has been a tiring day. And there is a sizable HDList for tomorrow....ugh!
Almost time for the season finale of Battlestar Galactica. Gotta go.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Afternoon gang!
All of this talk about firefighting brings back memories of the Basic Firefighter course I went through a few years back when I was a volunteer. Unfortunately, between work, my house, and the g/f and her kids, I'm a pretty busy guy so I no longer volunteer.
And Sue, yes ma'am... I will make sure to post pics for all to see. I'm hoping by the end of the weekend, tomorrow is mostly packed spent w/ my parent at the annual Spring Home and Garden show. So, we shall see....
And JimCG... Hi! is it pie yet????

Thanks! I'm hopefully going to go Aiken-High-Clemson-Architecture job, but hey, that could change, lol. But I'm definitely going the Aiken High leg; might end up changing either the end result or the college, but I'm definitely going to do my best to get into college.

Hi y'all!
The diner is slipping to the bottom of the page. Can't let that happen.

Thanks to all those who wish me well. Yes. Todd, we tend to put up prayer candle for those in need. WIth the number needing prayers here and in real lifde on demand, we pretty much burn one once a day. As I said before we really do do it, it's not just a saying. Should light one for me as well, I guesss.
WEll, I'm back off to bed-y-poo for a nap-py-poo. Talk at you all later.
I've done this before with EZ-Track and some old Life-Like Power-Lok automatic rail crossings. I would trim the ends of the Power-Lok track and the EZ-Track so they were flat and there was enough rail protruding from the Power-Lok section to reach the rails of the EZ-Track section. I had to add another rail joiner to connect the two sections as the Life-Like track uses those funny looking clips that connect sideways.
Rob, If your looking at the older crossings they are all pretty much the same. You would need some kind of transition track to attach to the old school track. You probably already kknew that but I figured I bring it up anyway.

Thanks for that Tipton Bill, I have been needing some of that info and never took the time to look for it. Now I don't have to. Much appreciated. Also love the old photos you are finding. Were they photos that your Father or GF. had ?? I believe they were Railroaders, right?

Thanks for the tips, guys. Still would like to know which vintage brands of animated "road-crossings" are compatible with Bachmann EZ-track? (I've seen half a dozen brands including Tyco, Revell, Pemco, etc...??? If anyone can tell me, it would be much appreciated.
***Jerry, congrats on the Excellent deal. Wow!
Good morning. It's 56 and sunny. The high should be in the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy.I didn't get much done on the layout yesterday with the exception of building a small berm around the bases of some buildings so they don't look like they're just sitting there on top of the ground. One of the lectures I remember from Wayne Wesolowski was to 'plant those buildings'. I went to check my snail mail yesterday and found a large box beside the mailbox. It contained a number of homemade trees and two bags, one of green turf and the other of clump foliage. That saves me from having to drive to Alexandria to get more turf and foliage for a while. I may be planting trees this weekend. The doc has me on some pretty stout antibiotics this time around and I feel like a wrung out dish rag. I feel so tired I could just go back to bed and stay there. However there are things that must be done.Today High: 75 Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.Tonight Low: 52 Mostly clear early in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have a blueberry bagel, glass of Ed's OJ, and a cup of coffee, please 'n' thankyouma'am.
Paul, better have you and Mary Ann take care of yourselves - rest up and get over that creepin' crud thingee.

Even the coffee was horrible! I sure don’t miss that or any of the other “trainings” we had to go to. Todd-Are you sure that the 'coffee' being 'served' was not something else??

Uh, Lee, did you ask them about the MSDS for the coffee?... Oh, and here's a link for those of you who wondered about the coffee they served at one of your Haz-Mat-related trainings: MSDS-maker
Todd, it's amazing how much better our memory and recall gets, after a couple of cups of coffee (or couple of bags, for those of us using the PC IV method) in us, isn't it? Oh, on your other comment? I think a number of us are in that category now... (Whistling that Starship tune - that I can't get out of my head. Guess I'll have to go hunt down an MP3 of that now.
Bill T. - Thanks (also) for posting those diagrams!
Whoooooosh! Hey! was that JP dashing through? JP, ya gotta stay a little longer next time. (We'll put away the pie cannon - really!)
Robby, I think that thing you found was the small mock-up, before they built the full-scale version of the catapult...
So Todd - what did your instructor say after he and everybody stopped laughing?
Well, this weekend I'm backup for Sat. and Sunday, and hope it will be very dull in that end of things. H-L has their 40 percent off an item coupon running, so I'll likely go by there (it'll also be payday by Saturday). Need to do major de-cluttering around the apartment (and haven't gotten to it previous weekends, so...). I'll stop by the Diner in the morning or afternoon (after I pick up my pie shield at the hardware store), I suspect. May even have some pics of a bit of progress on my DPM background warehouse, I hope.
I'll get started on my breakfast now before it gets to lunchtime. Prayers for a great Friday (and weekend) for you and yours.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good Morning All...Its sunny and 33 here got a frost last nite...I'll have fried taters with gravey and coffee please..Thank You...I am buying today this will be my 2000 th post..when I started I thought I'd never get to 100! and most have been here in the Diner..I look forward to visiting here every day..The time around Christmas I spent in Nursing home was bad I talked to folks there and they are thinking about putting in a computer so residents could use it..
I hit the jack pot yesterday I made a deal with a Feller on the N Scale Yard sale Forum for some old Atlas switches..I sent Him 10.00 and told Him just to send me what He thought 10..00 was worth..I got box yesterday with two sacks of switches I havn't counted them but there must be aleast 40..I now have enough for fiddle yard and a bigger extension on layout..my Son is coming this week-end and we are going to see how much space we can work out...
You all have a good one...Jerry
Mornin' everyone!
Sun is again shining here in the Finger lakes melting the snow that fell overnight. Hey it's not officially Spring for another hour and a half! Anyway all of 28°F right now and might get up to 38°F this afternoon with any luck. Yep, Philip and a couple other guys right to the West of me sent yesterday's weather over to us. They do that all the time you know. On the other hand the forecast looks great for the Lakeshores Division Meet tomorrow. Too cold for people to want to stay home and do yard work, and no rain or snow so the driving should be good........
Todd and Chris, you guys are just youngsters! I was out teaching already when those shows were on the idiot box. I remember them well. Back then they actually had some good shows on TV. Car 54 Where Are You? was my favorite of the bunch. I have a passenger car that will grace the end of a milk train express on the SLOW and in honor of what will I figure is going to happen when I start doing operations here it is numbered............ You guessed it "Car 54". I also love Monty Python and the Holy Grail and have used that line many times myself. Love it!
Zoe dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug and a pumpkin pie. No, not a slice, a pumpkin pie. What's the problem? I'm planning on eating it not like those other guys!
Got a call from the dealership about my old Dodge Dakota. Brakes seized up a couple days ago. This time they found the problem. Rust in the brake lines. So I'm getting the whole front system replaced to the tune of......$$$ But I plan on keep the old girl for when I need the truck to pull the trailer and hauling stuff so.... This is the first major repair since the truck was new. Only a couple of small items have failed before and most were covered under the warranty (which is now gone since it is a 2002 model). I put about 1000 miles a year on it now, but when I drive it the brakes have to work right.
OK I have a days worth of work to get done before lunch so I will catch you all later!
Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO
We'll get there sooner or later!
Goodmorning, all. I just stopped by for a coffee and cinnamon roll. Gotta have those sweets. I am excited about the MR meeting tonight. We are taking a diorama that Larry did which includes a laser-cut building that I made.
John, Can't wait to see you project with the WS kit.
Later,
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Chris- You guys talking about the Haz-mat FR stuff reminds me of one class I attended and the question was posed in review,I believe, "what do you do when you first arrive at the scene of the incident?" He called on me. I stood up. waved my hands and arms franticly above my head as I shuffled to the back door and, using my best "Monty Python and the Holy Grail " voice, said "Run Away! Run Away!" Yes the instructor did laugh. And yes for a moment there I did wish I had engaged the ol' noodle before taking action.
TMarsh Chris-Wouldn't happen to be Squad 51 you are referring to would it? Or am I showing my age to say I watched "Emergency", let alone say it was one of my favs (and Adam-12) when it WAS NEW!! Luckily I can say I was but a young lad. Let's see Ken Gage and oh, what was his characters name? Kevin Tighe played him? He drove most I think. Hmmm.
Chris-
Sorry man, didn't see yer post at first. You too nailed it. Oh, and just for useless trivia's sake (might come up on some TV game show, win you a bazillion bucks), it was John Gage and Roy DeSoto (Tighe), and yeah, Roy drove about 99% of the time.
Watched it religiously when it was"new," saw it in syndication, got 1990s VCR tapes of it, taped hour upon hour of it off of "TV Land," now I've got the DVD's.
Yeah...I'm a geek. "In Squad we trust."
