2 -1/2 days of rain...we should be done with that nonsense for at least a few days. County is sending FAX's to all the stations listing road closures, not so much from flooding...more from just plain old MUD bogging conditions.

Afternoon fella's, I'll just have a RBF and a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a little chocolate sauce on the top. Not anything happening on the MRR front around here, a whole lot of real RR action happening (CSX has been REALLY busy the past week) seems that they're pulling a lot of "dead" hoppers out of the trackage down past the plastic onload/offload point on the local shortline here. I guess business is picking up with it starting to be spring and all.

Inch, I'd like to go to the Boeing train show - when is it? Is it next weekend? I have their mail flyer somewhere at home, but don't recall. May depend on gas prices around then. It's usually a good show, and I can find some bargains if I look a bit. A number of times, I wind up getting back issues of MR (just what I need, more stuff to store, eh?). I've found some useful stuff there (like some Bar Mills billboards I was wanting, after they stopped making them, and some Central Valley fences/stairway parts/etc.). You and Deb enjoy that next weekend, and if that is when the Boeing show is, I'll email you so we can meet up there. We usually head up in time to help our LHS owner/club member set up his tables (before they open on Sat. a.m.).

Well folks, we got a little breaking news. Linn County is paging-out the HAZMAT team, to respond to Jesup (Buchanan County) for a train derailment. That would be the CN-IC, ex-IC Iowa Div. I'm hoping dispatch will give more details once the glow worms start acknowledging and responding.
Crappy day to go play outside, rain has pretty much stopped, but it's still only about 40 degrees with a strong breeze out of the North.

Sheeeesh--busy day today. Went down to Eric's place--the child down the street from us--to do a bit of work on the layout there and ended up getting a couple of 'used' GP18's from who knows where--it appears that someone in the group came across these at a show someplace and thought that these work work on their layout---but they did not think they'd need it ---so I got them instead!! I got the bodies off and found them to be DCC with Sound?!--and it seems that they work--so we'll see--yet more things that make 'Spring' spring-------anyhoooo, the trackwork has almost been completed--all yards in and the wiring up is almost done--we may be ready for run tests come next month.
As far as my atrium project goes I'm in the process of reconfiguring the front entrance as well as rear due to the sag issue--once we get the pieces in some kind of logical position I'll be able to make headway on some of the pix---right now taking pix of bits is about all anyone would see--not pretty--and dang near impossible to see as organized

That is precisely why I don't take too much time to plan. Heck, I still don't have anything past a track plan for my unfinished area on my layout. Too much stress in planning everything, it takes a toll on somebody.

I'm back from the Camp Show at the Mall. We had a pretty good day all told and handed out a good many flyers for SciTek Camp. We would have had camp full by the end of the day if we accepted 11 year olds into the camp. More than half of the people that stopped to talk were very disappointed that they couldn't send their 11 year old kids to it. The camp is a program at our Boy Scout Camp and is a co-ed program for Venture Aged youth (14 to 18 for camp).
It has been a foggy, rainy, dreary day here in the Finger Lakes today with a half inch more rain predicted for tonight and showers all day tomorrow. Guess I will start to clean house for the upcoming NMRA Meet.
Chloe I'll have a nice cup of decafe and a Tuna Club Sandwich with some potato chips. Hold the tomato on that sandwich, OK.
I'll go sit in the back where it is warm and chat with some of the guys.

I would be okay doing this but for two things:
1) I'm tired today (I ran my guts out and did a bunch of sports yesterday, ran some today).
2) I seriously have no vision for this layout. I'm pulling my hair out trying to think of somehting.
I'm now thinking small shortline w/ three diesels, small yard at the beginning of the line, then it runs out to an area w/ maybe two or three industries, meanwhile passing two or three more. Then there's another line going in the opposite direction from the yard.
shortline locos: U23B, B23-7 for the branches, rs-1 for the yard.

A nice RBF is in order please and maybe a slice of apple pie with it. Generally un ambitious day today working on the 3rd planit software and trying to get it to comply with Ryans tutorial again. I will struggle through this, but like many semi leterate computer usersI get tangled up in all the layered subroutines that toggle on and off without announcing their presence on the screen. I suppose some time I should just take a how to use your computer course but I'm determined to slog through this as the outcome looks promising.

Barry.... Were you satisfied with the answers you got on your steel mill thread? ...It has been a long time since I posted pictures of my steel mill. Have you seen any of my pictures? I had a lot of fun making my steel mill.
On my layout, I laid more track today. It will be many more months before I complete my layout extension because it is a bit ambitious.

ID help. Originally the large trestle was thought to be N scale, but upon seeing it next to my wife's two HO trestles, they all look like the same scale to me now. Would you folks agree that all 3 of these trestles are HO scale?

I pulled the engine out of my 1.5 inch scale diesel yesterday and took it over to my SILs for him to work on. He called this morning and he had it running so we put it back in and ran around the track. it ran like new, I just hope that it continues.
The daughter is bringing the kids by early tomorrow so I'd better get going.

A project I was working on today was an old severly damaged Athearn caboose sent to me along with some other damaged cars and an old GP30 locomotive. The caboose was missing most of it's steps, an entire observation deck, all railings and ladders and the frame was cracked. Here it is after being run through my rebuild shop.
