Good morning,

Todd sounds like a close call for you and the neighbors.   Living in Northern Ohio we are taught to leave a couple windows open just enough to allow the air to come and go during a tornado.  To keep the air pressure equal inside the house, barn, or garage.

No surgery is a good thing; the blood test didn’t show a spike in hormones so we are going to monitor it for now.

Jeff the new MOW car is looking pretty good.

Jeff,

I have a couple roof top hatches from a 40' SWIFT reffer.  Would that help?

And a Good Morning to you all. We'll be getting barrels more rain as another system is going to come through carrying upwards of 40mm of rain with some areas getting more than 50mm. We are going to a high of 5C today with the low at 1C. There is even a chance for freezing rain for us --the temp reading right now kind of negates that chance though as we are already at 3C.Sigh

Mornin' folks!

Lots of rain in the forecast, but also a high of 72 degrees.......IN MARCH IN INDIANA!  What's up with that?  Never fear though....tomorrow is back to the 40's!

So, I've got my son's basketball team banquet tonight.  We'll see how they did this year in the state & national rankings.  Last year they came in second in the state, and did respectable (I can't remember what place right now) in the nationals.  I don't think they did as well this year, but who knows.  They had fun though, and they honored God in their conduct, both on and off the court, and thats what matters.

Prayers for all those in need......yes, thats you and me both!

So, whats up in your neck of the woods?

Good morning everybody.  The weather guy is calling for rain, but nothing yet.

Well we went to another doctor yesterday, and he advised to see another one.  So..................We move on to Pittsburgh.  This is really draining my wife.  You would think with the doctors we have seen in the past year shes a older lady, well shes 29.  I honestly don't know what to tell her when she gets so upset.  I guess today, I will have to get her a small gift.  Kinda make her feel better.

Here's a old house I worked on yesterday.  I am thinking about adding a few more trees.  I wish I had a old pickup truck.  I did have one, but can't find it.

Well everybody have a good morning.

Mornin' all, Oh, I guess a hungry mans breakfast today please a lot of coffee too thanks. Might be in for round two today and even tonight, so be prepared everybody east of, oh I'd say Littlefield. (birthplace of the great Waylon Jennings). Let's hope it doesn't pan out.

Inch- Power was out real spotty in Springfield and around us but we never lost it except for a flicker a couple of times.

Jeff- MOW car's looking good.

Barry- About the nugget that caused the power pole. I bet he didn't get where he was going any faster did he. Everyone on that line probably appreciates him too. Is it a law up there that if you knock down a power pole, and it's your fault, you have to pay to have it repaired or replaced? It is here.

Lee- I've noticed in the news for the last few years they've been talking about whether to crack or not to crack windows. I can't really recall their reasons not to crack, I do recall it sounded reasonable. I've been a "cracker" all my life and I guess I always will be.

Philip- Sounds like you've got a good night planned. I hope the weather holds.

Robby- Praying for your wife

Well gonna get movin' and try to get stuff done between rains and hopefully the storms won't be as bad as some say.

Have a great day.

Good Morning, Zoe; I'll have the #2, scrambled and with blackberry jam for the toast, glass of Ed's OJ, and a cup of coffee while they're cooking the rest of it, please 'n' thankyou.Smile

Well, Jerry, I figured your yard was likely one or the other. Whatever works, eh? Thumbs Up

Chris, I hope your editor takes that girl's quote - it's kinda good to know that kids might actually get more info/sense about money nowadays. I didn't get taught anything (that I recall, anyway...) when I was younger, and it could've saved me some problems later on if I had of.Oops In college I took a 'personal financial strategies' class (that was a lot like that one you described. I'm sitting there as the prof is telling the class all the things not to do (and saying to myself, "Nope, you don't want to do that all right!"Smile,Wink, & Grin).

Ray, wishing you the best in your preparations for the tour (and the practice for it). May your gremlins be on vacation that weekend! Thumbs Up

Rob, couldn't you sneak one of those N scale trestles onto your layout? They're small, surely she wouldn't miss just one, right?Whistling On the tracks, the route of the RR will usually follow/wind around the terrain (using cuts/fills/trestles so as to minimize grade changes for the locos), as I recall, anyway.

SaronaTerry, sounds like you and the C&NW ORF's are benefitting each other. Yeah!!

Lee, good to hear on your (non-)surgery. Keep on top of things with your doctor!

Jeff, your MOW car is coming along - looks good (like it's been around a while, as most MOW cars tend to...)!Wink

Todd, good to hear you're okay (and wife and the dog, of course!

Inch  - I sent you an email last night. If anyone else (Garry?) might be heading to the Boeing trainshow (in St. Louis), let me know and we can try to meet up with you there on Sat.

That shed looks good, Robby, and I'd agree with you - couple of trees and a pickup (with a few rust spots on it...)Thumbs Up You might see about that gift for your wife (and maybe even do the dishes for her tonight?)Whistling

We didn't get any bad weather yesterday that they were forecasting (and that's fine with me). Still warm today (60's F), and might have some afternoon fun. We'll see again...

I'll be wolfing down breakfast and watching the switcher do its thing. Prayers for healing (and doctors who can agree on what's needed), for comfort, and for your day in your neighborhood/neighbourhood.AngelAngel

Blessings,

Robby that house looks cool!

Jeff I'll locate those hatches and drop them in the mail if you want.

Jim I sent you some pictures and some documentation last night, did you get it ok?

I was able to isolate the Rivirossi motor in the 2-8-8-2 last night no problems and it looks like the rear drivers pick up on the fireman side and the front drivers pick up on the engineer side of the locomotive.  I hope to have time to wire in a test decoder and run it.  If it works I'll replace the test decoder with the T1000 Tsunami and speaker.  Looks like I'll have more than enough room in the boiler.

Mornin' everyone!

I'm up!  Just barely though. Got home from retrieving my sister at the airport around 2AM today.  It was a short night...........

Zoe bring me the IV Coffee this morning, several bags worth if you would.  An egg and sausage muffin would taste good as well. I'll be in the front booth trying to stay awake.

Have a bout 3 days worth of stuff to get done today so I best not hang around here too long.

Be back later!  Hope all of you in harm's way stay safe!

Yeah, I really wasn't taught anything like that either. Well, Dad tried to hammer it into me over the past 30+ years. The older I get...the smarter he seems to get. The one thing missing from yesterday, I didn't see a credit card booth...where they'd miss a payment and watch the interest skyrocket 500% overnight... The wife and I are still working on getting ours paid off...and SHREDDED.

To the guy asking about "cracking" windows open during a tornado. They (notice how it's allways "they?") taught that in the 50's. Now..."they" just want people to hit the basement. The current theory is trying to equalize the pressure (reason for opening windows) is useless in the face of 200 mph winds, and wastes valuable time better spent getting under something sturdy. In the 50's, "they" thought it was unequal pressure (higher, normal pressure inside the house vs. rapid pressure drop with the tornado) that caused houses to "explode." Now, "they" figure it's just the winds tearing things up.

We've got drizzle, and FOG...I can't see to the end of the block (2 houses away). LOTS more rain last night. My yard is a swamp, and the dog isn't happy...he's having trouble finding places to do his "chores" without getting his paws wet.

A good, SAFE day to all, especially those in Mother Nature's way today...

Here is an old photo from (I'm guessing) from my grandparents. Perhaps it was during an old Train Museum demonstration?

Nothing done in the train room lately. Have some decisions to make and there is other more pressing work I need to get done. Hope everyone is doing well.

Afternoon Gang: Mary Ann was sick last night. Vomiting and fever. I called the doctor and he said it sounded like a viral thing in her stomach. Anyway after a couple hours she felt better and the fever went down. I guess I'm getting real good at doctoring her. Shes fine today.

I ran the diesel yesterday. We took the grand kids for a ride around the track. the little one really likes trains. The 12 yr old ran the train the third time around and did a splendid job. When we got back she said the seat was too hard so I guess I'll have to replace it.

I got some more clean up done down at the depot while I watered the stock in the corral. I also went looking for a steel flat car that I put off by the side of the main many years ago. I couldn't find it. Now I'll have to go and clean up the underbrush and look for it.

My best to everyone.

I'll see you all tonight.

OOPs looks like I have the TOP. Enjoy

Rob, I think that picture was taken at the 1927 Iron Horse Fair in Baltimore, MD for the 100th birthday of the B&O.  That is a 0-4-0 Grasshopper locomotive BTW.  I borrowed some B&O books from my neighbor and the carriages and tents match a few pictures I’ve seen from that fair.

Paul, I hope everyone is feeling better this afternoon.

Ok, lets see.  I will take a cheeseburger, and onion rings.  Oh yeah, and a sweet tea.

Thanks for the comments on the "boarded up house".  I worked on another part of the layout, and I'm making a old coal area.  Old tracks, and all.  I also added a switch for the light in the security shack.  I will have to get a shot of it this weekend.

Paul, maybe something going around.  The wifes mom, and brother are both sick.

Rob, I love the shot.  I really enjoy old photos.

I guess I will sit in the back, and watch some trains.

Hello everybody ...

Robby ... I like that beat up old little house. Prayers for your wife. I hope doctors solve the problem soon.

Paul ... Sorry to hear Mary Ann was sick. Glad the grandkids could do trains with you!

Jeff... that MOW car is unique now. Are you thinking of plating over some windows?

Are any of your going to the Cleveland train show? This weekend. If so, you can say hello to my friend from Paducah who sells mostly railroad books at the train shows. He will be selling there under his unique name of Classic Trains and Ferrari's. You can tell him hello from me.

I recieved two more car kits from NKP Car Company. They have lots of passenger car kits that are prototypically correct for Burlington and about 20 other railroads. Now, I have more fun work to do.

windows were cracked, as far as I was told, because of air pressure that would pop the house.

windows were cracked, as far as I was told, because of air pressure that would pop the house.

Correct, Sir...but old theory. The following is a direct quote from the National Weather Speculators, Storm Prediction Center (SPC): "Long ago, I was told to open windows to equalize pressure. Now I have heard that's a bad thing to do. Which is right? Opening the windows is absolutely useless, a waste of precious time, and can be very dangerous. Don't do it. You may be injured by flying glass trying to do it. And if the tornado hits your home, it will blast the windows open anyway."

Sorry guys, NOT trying to beat the drum on this...or beat a dead horse. I've just had a life-long fascination (sheer terror turned to deep respect with serious curiosity) with the dang things.

Stay SAFE...

Chris

I chased tornedoes for some years and reported their positions back to 911 in the interest of public safety. My pay for this was zero. How close have I been? Try having one directly overhead. It effectively and quite efficiently removed every scrap of paper from inside my car then turned a mobile home inside out before moving off across the lake to wreak more havoc on the oppisite shore. How many have I chased? I lost count but I know it was more than several dozen. How many have I run from? About a dozen. Tornadoes can be tricky unpredictible beasts. Just when you think you have one figured out it pulls it's next trick out of the hat. The smartest thing to do if you see one coming is to get out of it's way.

Evening all. Chloe, I'll take a burger and some fries, thanks.

I found a little bit of free time, so I thought that I'd drop in.

I hate when other people mess things up for me. I found a F40 on eBay for $15, so I placed a bid for 20.09. I asked my mom if I had gotten outbid, and she said that the highest bid was $35, which is too high (there's an add in MR for one for 30 at Trainworld). I just checked- it was only $21- which means I only got outbid by 81 cents. Darnit!

Absolutely no time for anything the last couple days. I was GOING to take the pictures of new stuff the other day, BUT the battery in the camera was dead, and I couldn't find the charger... Soon, I promise. :(

Lax is going well. On thursday, we get out at 1:05, so we're either going to have a double practice, or just one longer one. But I won't be there because I have Confirmation. HAHAHA! We have a scrimmage on Saturday, so chances of going to the train show in Edison are not looking good (still waiting to go for 10 YEARS!!!). :*[

Well, I'll try to be back soon; maybe on the weekend till then. Prayers for all in need. Have a good night.

Evening gang,

Concerning the retirement of my Mantua fleet of locomotives do you guys think twenty five plus shipping is a fair price for these?  I’m guessing shipping will be between five and eight.  I do plan on including the directions for installing a DCC unit with each locomotive.

Comments?
