What would you call it? Before you jump the gun and blurt out 'GP30' take a close look then come up with a name for it. Keep it clean.

Hello again diners!  I'm just jumping in for a second...  I have abusy weekend and a lot of homework to complete before monday morning hits...

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to catch up on the conversations...  I tried last night but my eyes started rollin' in the back of my head...  wasn't fun trying to focus on the screen and suddenly waking up face down on the keyboard...  LOL and for real!

JR:  Beautiful baby girl there!  Congrat's Grandpa!!!

Sawyer:  I am in agreement with the others about your situation (football)...  Make sure you think it over thoroughly.  I have so many Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda things on my list...  Don't wind up with a lot of regrets because of a quick decision...  I did, and try to help other prevent the same mistake...

If anyone has anything they want me to pray about for them, or want me to put on my churches prayer list, please PM me???

Here's how my week went:

Tuesday: Orientation.  (Pretty interesting findoung out about rate of pay and benefits)

Wednesday:  Study Tutorial, (get paid for eight hours to learn better study skills! Excellent!)

Thursday: First day in the classroom...  and first two quizes... Don't worry I passed (They were on NORAC Definitions and Hand signals!)

Friday: Slept right through my alarm, wound up 11 minutes late for class, got written up (not to worry, you can have 5 write ups within the first six months of training [and i don't plan on any more])  found out our seniority for the class (who can bump who, the RR works on a bid-n-bump system) I am #10 of 19, right smack in the middle of the pack!  But as the union reps said, there are still 400 engineers ahead of us when we get out there!

On a great note:  I found out that my On the Job Training for the first section will end the week before my wedding!!!  So I won't have to worry about working an overnight shift running engines around a yard the night of my wedding day!

Well, to all those in need, which is all of us, my prayers are with and for you.   I will try to stop in from time to time!  See ya folks!

Everyone have a RBF on me!!!

Sam

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

Mornin' Think I'll have coffee and one of them new fangled things you call a bagle please.

I slept in til almost 8:00. The windows open and I slept like a log. Oh the smell of the outside fresh air and coffee brewing aaaaaaaaahhhhh. Another day of warmth but we are suppose to get rain and possibly Tstorms tonight.

Not much happening. Tonight's the annual Prime Rib dinner the FFA puts on. My wife usually gets tickets from the elevator. The FFA gives a couple of tickets to each of the sponsors. I would say it's good to be the Assist Manager, but she usually asks all the employees first. You'd think out of 5 elevators in the co-op, someone would want to go. Oh well, It ain't Ryans prime rib but it isn't bad. Fund raiser you know. They always do well.

Might just try something new today. Finish projects before starting a new one. Hmmmm. Maybe I'd best go out on the back porch and think about this.

Maybe I'm a little fuzzy this morning from being up way too late trying to edit-down 467 pics from a V-ball game (got 'em down to 263, heading for 10-12 to submit to THAT editor); so I'm not exactly sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing... but I'd swear I'm seeing six-wheel trucks, making this an SD-30...

Or do I just need to cut back on the caffinated beverages????

Thought the same thing, but what you're seeing looks to me, is the other side rear wheels. The angle makes it look like it's in the middle. That camera of Jeffs is so clear on closups!

Coffee in a large SOUTHERN mug, please & thanks.

The little busted up (N) trestle I aquired recently arrived today. Should be easy enough to repair. What struck me when I brought it down to the train room is that my Big tresstle has simply got to be HO and not N scale. Yikes, now what? Do I use a HO trestle on my N scale layout? It's too big for the wife's layout. Didn't bother me until I saw a genuine N scale trestle next to it. The little trestle will be placed well back in the canyon, so perhaps I could get away with using it? Any suggestions?

Running on fumes today. Making an effort but not getting much done. Should sleep well tonight.

Some requested in the last day or two for a prayer candle so one is lit for them and all those who need thoughts and prayers.

Jeffrey, aw, you're just funnin' us. I see your glasses in the background of that pic so don't loose them again! {lol}

 Afternoon everyone!

Rainin' outside.....  Was nice all morning and started to rain right about concert time.  After the concert I got everything packed up and on a cart and went to get my car.  It had stopped raining.  I get in car and start the engine.....Raining.........  Rained all the time I am loading sensitive electronic equipment into back of car.  Get home, stopped raining.  Yes!  I back into driveway to get as close to the front porch as possible, get out of car, starts raining again.  Rained while bringing in several loads of sensitive electronic equipment that shouldn't get wet..........  Decided to wait a while to see if it would stop raining.  Turn on computer and start to type this post..... Raining has stopped.

Jeffrey, looks to me like you got some kind of diseasal thingy there.  I can't get much closer to that for accuracy on them things.  Anything more modern than an RS3 is out of my knowledge base.

Ah yes we get to lose an hours sleep tonight.  Wow!!Yeah!!Whistling   Every year when we lose an hours sleep, I have to be up early that morning to go do something!  Camp Show tomorrow at a nearby Mall.  A couple of us will be managing a table for SciTek Camp (Co-Ed Boy Scout/Venturer camp).

BTW any of you know the difference between a Tuba and a Lawn Mower?

[edit} Now that I finished typing and did the post,................ It has started raining again!Sigh

Hello everybody...

Daylight Savings time ticks me off. Big SmileEvilWhistling

If that were my old GP30, I would be more inclined to make a dummy GP30 with the proper trucks. But it's not mine, and I like seeing Jeff have fun with his creativity.

Daylight Savings time ticks me off.

I understand completely why, you can't sleep in the fall and are tired in the spring.

I got a new camera for my trip with the Music boosters' trip to San Antonio this April, and was taking layout pictures on it.  Unfortunately, my computer requires 10 software updates to download those pictures, so they are going to have to wait.

Does anyone other than me detail the inside of your buildings that you don't light?

They are indeed six wheel trucks. The body is on either a Kato or Atlas drive (not sure which) that was the drive of a kitbashed nightmare somebody sent me a year or so back. It is DCC and runs like a champ.

Not possible. The trucks that came with it were quite trashed. The rear one was cracked beyond repair an dthe front one was frozen up by epoxy.

Thanks JEFF: I guess I'm not completely losing my mind, my grip on reality, my sanity, my eyesight...and everything else I've been questioning all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding.

I think what had me pondering it the most, and debating it (4 wheel vs. 6), was the non-EMD trucks. My mind told me what I "should" be seeing...and I wasn't, causing a disconnect.

I've got a hunch, you are positively dangerous around April 1st...

Jeff, interesting  um.. whatever 30 you've got there!  Why?

Chloe, Shrimp Scampi please.

My huge Walthers order came today.  The modular kits are on sale so I stocked up.  I'll need them for the coffee plant. There will be a lot of compression required overall but the focus is on the car switching so that will be the focus   The starting benchwork is together, just need to get the base material.

I'll get some pictures up when I have a chance.

Why not? I have the pieces, might as well have some fun with it. I've decided a good nomonclature for it would be SD30J.

OK--I leave with Audrey to go downtown and do some deal snooping and we come back home to 2 locked threads--all in one little tiny period? What happened?

And it appears that the problem was over---bashing--ohno ohno--- so we kit -"bashers" are going to have to find a neutral word to call what we do ---or form a liberation army to free the word from those who do violence to the poor misbegotten thing. Good Evening, Flo - I'll have the beef stew and some chopped onions for a little addition, plus a RBF, please and thanks!

PC, sounds like you had a good long ride - and others got some good walking of the dogs in. Yeah!! I'd agree that your handcar looks mighty tiny there. But if a cat gobbled that up, as Eric mentioned, I'd hate to think of the kind of hairball that would produce...Whistling

Really nice weather here today (though a bit windy) reached 70 F (21 C or so) this afternoon. I went by H-L and picked up this:

which I'm thinking of using for a 'general' store or grocery type interior, have the veggie boxes on some wooden counters (or some height to be determined).

And then there's the day that Henry has been having at the freight station... He's right in the middle of clearing the platform and getting all the local shippers' trucks loaded up with their boxes, crates and packages. Except the new kid he hired apparently lost his footing. Poor Henry's thinking what that may do to his workman's comp. rates, and wondering why he didn't retire this year like he was thinking about doing...

As you maybe can tell, I went shopping earlier today. Oops I still have to wade through the book and learn what this baby can do, but it should take care of 99 percent of what I need (or more). And now, I'll have to clean up the apartment, so you don't see all my junk in the background of pics.Blush But I will be able to post some better grade of pics of what I'm doing. Who knows? I might even start posting to WPF, too!

Eric, can you put a small dumpster next to the house on the side where the chimney is? I don't know what those things cost to rent, but it might save your back and legs.

Sam, that'd be good if you don't have to leave your new bride to go hustling an engine! Best wishes on the rest of your schooling, and get to bed so you get enough sleep, y'hear? Thumbs Up

Yeah!!, Todd, you don't want to be hasty about finishing up all those projects! Laugh We might get some of those T-storms here, after midnight they're saying. Looks like they're talking about on-a-day, off-a-day for the next 3 or 4 days with those storms.

Does anyone other than me detail the inside of your buildings that you don't light?

No, Mad, but I've been planning to do just that, so I guess that sorta makes me guilty, yer honor!Whistling

Jeff, you prankster, you! And Chris, please DO remember to post those early notices for us (up high, where a certain someone can't 'touch them up' a bit, if you catch my drift...)

Barry, I think the famous Art Curren (with some books on "Kit-bashing" structures, ahem...) also used that kit-mingling term as well.

As for those forum threads - perhaps (with apologies to Garry) I could call that a result of "March Madness"?...  (Sneaking quietly toward the back door so Barry doesn't decide to 'recycle' that pie...)

Maybe I can finish my stew before he notices me...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

we kit -"bashers" are going to have to find a neutral word to call what we do

THAT editor of mine hates the word "that." Somebody elsewhere in the forums gets their knickers in a twist over the word "bash."

Good grief.

Life is just too short for THAT kind of crap. I say, if you wanna kitBASH, or kitMINGLE, or...combine components... go for it! WHO cares WHAT you call it???

I'm proud to say I kitBASH, by the way... which is the term I learned, and the term I'll stick with, thank you very little... Legions of well-known, and rather accomplished modelers have kitBASHED for many, many years.

It's just a word.

OK...back off the soapbox.

Steak sounds really GOOD.... 12oz. sirloin, medium well will do nicely Chloe...

I just do the part that you can see before the "darkness" sets in and makes it worthless.  Didn't mean to sound braggy, I just wanted to see if anyone else did.  If anyone is interested, if figures in buildings can only be seen from one side, cardboard cutouts work just swimmingly.  They're a lot cheaper, too.  And, you can put your family on the layout.

You can call me Tyler, too.
