Tall glass of lemon water, please & thanks.

***RT, sounds like some very good news there, especially considering many of the alternatives.

Wife's popcorn cart arrived via UPS today. It's adorable (IMO) and will be a nice little addition to her circus/carnival layout.

Killer headache and backache tonight. Perhaps paying for that MIL's birthday cake I gobbled up earlier. I knew better and did it anyway.

Night all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

I accually went by a exit on 20 that said Aikens today. Remember reading it as there was a gentle man in the room from there but don't remember his name.

I'm at exit 70 on interstate 20.

Not too much happening tonight just woke up from nap was tired earlier still am acually but not like I was.

Cool. My dentist is actually in Augusta. And he's a model railroader, so it's actually fun going to the dentist 9and i've never had a cavity, so that's better).

Got lots to do today.  Gotta teach tonight, and have lots of schoolwork to catch up on too.  Somewhere in there I have to go to my son's basketball practice.  I don't like to miss that.

Hello ...

This is to express appreciation to those who expressed concern for our church friend, Diane,  and prayed for her. We received the following in an email today today from her husband, Wayne. Prayers work. ..

"It's Sat. AM at 11:45.  I just came in from Nashville for a short time ....Diane is doing great!!!!!!!!!............Her surgery went well last Tuesday afternoon.  Her mass was some smaller than the doctors anticipated.  Good news.  On the flip side, they found some enlarged lymph nodes which they removed.  As of now they have not gotten the pathology test completed on them.  ..............her spirits continue to be optimistic. .........We don't know when she will be coming home .........

We both know and appreciate all of your prayers thus far.  We know this progress could not have happened without them.  Please continue to do so........Wayne......"

Thanks everybody.

Diners: ...and a bright sunny one it is here on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia!  Breezy however, as it's been blowing for three days straight now.  Again, waiting for things to dry.  In the basement, the mainframe of the crane has it's undercoat drying, (I can already see where more sanding will be required, but it looks better grey than white with wood and paper portions.

(by CapeJim)  Good to hear that you got your wood rods thing figured out.
..look just like the rest nowThumbs Up [tup]); and here in the train room the cable house can't get any further along until the hangers for the cat walk are firm enough to take the rail nippers (for a flush cut) trimming off excess bits.  So I thought I'd drop in and see what's cooking.  A black tea and cookie please Chloe.

Autumn is definitely here, snow on Mt Mansfield, and Killington Mtn, VT, and the White mountains of NH, down to 3500 foot levels. A very Fallish 53F today, as we brought in more firewood for storage. With heating oil at $4.16 a gallon ( #2) , you burn a lot more firewood!!!

ROB: I am totally blown away at what you have been able to teach your horse!!!!! Absolutely amassing!!! When do you teach "Patches" to run your MRR trains??

http://videos.komando.com/2008/08/26/

JIM: No frosted Flakes...the window project is DONE inside and out, and none too soon, it is getting mighty chilly around here, the winds have been blowing constantly for days now, yielding a wind-chill factor that is 20F below the day temperature.

RT: Glad to hear that health issues are getting under control....diet is the main thing, after age 40, all men really need to control fat intake from ALL sources...keep up the good work RT, it will pay great health dividends.

Nice. It's actually nice, b/c the waiting room has about 3 to 4 model railroad mags, including model railroader and the NMRA bulletin. And we'll get to talking about trains while he's doing my teeth.

Evening Gang: I got in from the live steam meet a couple of hours ago. John and I ran my steam locomotive for the first timein months. It performed well. It was actually making steam going up the slight grade to Grissley Flats. After we got back from supper was a different mater. On the first run out I ran out of water coming into Maddox Jct. That's what you get for being in a rush to get going. I didn't check the water tank. Fortunately there is a track that goes back to Grissley Flatsso I backed to there and then ran Back to Terry Town. That's the main town with the water. As I was heading back a snake slithered across the tracks. I didn't mention that to the gals on the train. After taking on water I headed out again and the locomotive acted like the valve gear locked up west of Grissley. I backed up and started again and everything seemed all right. We were going up grade through Nusbaum gorage and it happened again. I got out and hit the valve gear with some oil and went on into Maddox Jct. There I did the back up to Grissley and went back to Terry Town. I dropped the train in the yard and put the loco up on the bay and dropped the fire. I'll go back over tomorrow and see what I can see in the daylight.

Well I've had my shower and gotton all the dirt off. Believe me there is alot of dirt from a coal burning steam loco.

Good to see you back in the diner Sue, even if you did set me up for top of the page. Have at it gang it's on me.

Good morning,

Rob, I would shy away from black. If you are going to paint the walls a FLAT light blue I would recommend: painting the ceilings FLAT light blue, or a FLAT "Winters Day" (sold at Lowes).  What type of paint will you use to paint the backdrops and clouds?  If you are using artist acrylics you may need to use a semi-gloss on the walls, double check with the instructions on the paint can before you leave the store.  You may want to use a primer paint tinted with your choice of blue.

Did anyone see the DCC buyers guide on page 50 of model Railroader? The Lenz Set comes with a 10 year warranty vs. the Digitrax 1 year warranty.  Any Lenz experience in the group?

Only experience I have with Lenz is I have one of their JST decoders (LE1014) and a bunch of the cheap decoders they make for Bachmann. Haven't had any problems with them.

For the past couple of weeks I've been working on two old Mantua flatcars. I cut the horrible looking tops off them (made for culvert pipe I think) and leveled them off with some wallboard joint compound. I now have the new deck down on one of them and it looks really good.

This photo shows what they were like when I got them:

Here's how they looked after I cut them down and painted them:

And here's the one I've completed:
