Hello .... Sorry i've not had a chance to catch up on recent posts. Briefly scanning thru, I see there is some interesting stuff from many of you guys.

I appreciate all the kind responses to my post last night. As I mentioned in some of the direct correspondence, I was breif about what happend. In addition to the one incident where my heart was restarted 3 times while I was unconsious, there were three times when the heart device restarted me with a single jolt. The treatment seems to have improved the rythm, but I'm still really tired.

have fun everybody.

Afternoon all

Rob All of the last pics I have posted are from Northlandz in New Jersey and I believe on his web site it is a 65,000sq ft building. There is a pic of him standing in some of the scenery and there are areas that are at least 10ft high or better.

JR I didn't ask him what brand the rolling stock is or locos are but they do run good and didn't see any derailments at all. Although there was one loco down in a canyon that did do a lot of growling,so I think it was probably ready for some maintenance. I did ask what he used for the mountains and he said it was hydrocal and some plaster and about 33,000lbs of it.

That's about it

Best to all on sick call and those recovering Angel [angel]Angel [angel]Angel [angel]

My feelings exactly. I can build most of the bigger models but those with a lot of small detail parts are beyond my abilities. I have to find somebody who's willing to do that now being that my model builder moved to Florida.

It's nice to have friends like that. I have some who tghink I should PAY them $50 or more to put a model together. Nothing doing!

GMT, Try clicking on my WWW button.  The FC tower is on page 11 of the construction pictures and the Cabooses are the last 5 pictures of the locomotives and rolling stock section.  Are you using a MAC?

Jeff, I really need to draw my layout to scale someday soon.  I've been working off drawings of each table, but nothing on the whole thing. I need to find a friend that has a track CAD program to hook me up.

Keeping you motivated, I have friends that help out; Dale has been bored since his wife said no more models cluttering up the house, so I supply him with paint, glue and buildings and he assembles them.  Some I do on my own, but he digs through my model box and takes several at a time.  He has a second job sitting in an office overnight with nothing to do so it helps him make the time go by faster.

Good Morning All,

Almost home - we're in San Jose to catch the flight home today. I'll have a regular and a waffle please Zoe.

Ryan - my prayers for your father. Hope the tests help.

Jeff - my prayers also for your mother - best wishes for a speedy recovery. And that is good news from your doc. New shoes and all sounds like the feet are doing fine.

Garry - that's some scary stuff. Our prayers for you and we hope any damage is minimal at worst. Hang in there - we.'re all with you.

Ozark - that's is some nice work you're doing. My favorite is the special passing the station. With you, Jeff and Lee sending updates we'll all keep inspired.

Duke - the Northlandz stuff is TOTT! How many years did all that take? Is it sill being updated/reconstructed? Oh yeah and do you have any idea who's stuff he uses for rolling stock?

Lee - haven't gotten your pics to open yet - maybe when I get back home and can use my less crotchety desk top.

Got some touristy stuff in yesterday. Went to the Golden Gate Bridge as my daughter has wanted to see it in person forever. Toured up rts 1 and 116 nice roads and gorgeous scenery and got back to San Jose last night to leave later this morning. San Jose now has some electric light rail running and you can scarcely hear it as it passes by. catch y'all later,   J.R.

8' x 13'. The layout is bolted to the east, north and west walls. It extends 6.5' along the east wall, 8' along the north wall and 10' along the west wall. Here's the basic trackplan:

Good morning,

Jeff, is that a store bought car or one you painted?  It's getting hard to tell.

Rob, fine catch you got there. After painting a few figures by hand I figured out why those painted figures are so expensive; THEY ARE WORTH IT, LOL.

Jerry, Garry and Jeff's Mom; thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

One last thing, picked up these sets while wife was sleeping. I know she will like the mounted police and can work in the fishermen & road crew, too. Not so sure it would be safe for the kids swimming on her layout, as there will be some pretty rowdy characters around.Laugh [(-D]

Morgan, a word of (extreme) caution around Avon Yard with a camera.  Thats where I earned my terrorist status with Uncle Sam a couple summers ago.  I was taking pics and was swarmed by Homeland Security, local Police, and RR Police, cuffed, frisked, had my car torn apart, questioned for two hours (literally), had my pics erased, then was told I was now under inveestigation for terrorism.  A week later they told me I wouldn't have to go to court, but they were keeping my file on record.  And now, in the prophetic words of Arlo Guthrie, "somewhere in Washington enshrined in some little folder, is a study in black and white of my fingerprints."  (That one goes back a ways!)

Here's an angle on my layout that you usually don't see. It was taken through two different cameras. The first camera is on a permanant mounting. I use it to keep an eye on that part of the layout while trains are running.

This photo was taken with an old AIPTEK CCD Pencam.

And this one was taken with a Vivitar 3935.

Hello everyone..... I'll try to catch up on recent posts tomorrow.

Last Wednesday evening, I became unconscious at home due to abnormal heart rhythm. My implanted defibrillator restarted my heart three times, and I regained partial consciousness. This attack would have been fatal without the defibrillator.

I was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN...Tests show the rhythm attack was due to my heart failure condition. I have had heart failure for several years.

My arteries continue to be clear and are not a problem. This minor heart attack added more damage to my heart to that caused by previous heart failure. Doctors have added another medication to those I already take.

Tests before my release from the hospital this afternoon indicate the new drug is working to control my heart rhythm and increase pumping strength.

I have just now returned home where I will be recovering. ..

I got's a freight train story. One of those "Why the flip do I not have my camera with me?" moments. Coming home from the Dentist today, I drove into the Avon Eastern Limits. near Country Club (For your reference PC) there's a single track line that cuts across us 36 via a bridge. Just past it on the South Side, there's a switch. One leg curves around and ddrops down to ground level to head into Avon Yard, the other stays more or less at that height, leads into an iron bridge, and goes on to to cross us40 later before leveling to the ground by Indy International Airport. Below this mess is another double track line part of ex-NYC Bee Line to Terre Haute and later the world. Tehre was a train on the bridge of 36. it was curving into yard, but parked. Beneath the iron bridge was another train sitting. Then I realize, there's a THIRD train sitting on the iron brisdge above the Bee Line and just up as far as he can legally get to the other train on the curve.
