Howdy ....

Today was my first day back in the layout room. I posted my first run in WPF.

Sounds like Ryan's Dad and Jeff's Mom are recovering. Hope that continues for them.

Happy Model Railroading.

Afternoon, Janie - since JR's buying, I'll have some cheesey fries with my root beer float, Yeah!! [yeah] - and a chili dog, too! Thanks, JR. Big Smile [:D]

Ryan - great news on your Dad - and may the results be just as good when they do the gall bladder surgery (and checking for the biopsy).Thumbs Up [tup]Angel [angel]Angel [angel]Yeah!! [yeah]

Jerry, sent you a PM (check it out and get back to me). I was thinking it's a shame that City Classics doesn't make N scale stuff, as their West End Market (which was in the order I got today) is pretty neat and would look good on your layout. It looks like one of those Art Deco 'supermarkets' that sprouted up a lot of places when self-service groceries first got going (back before I was very big at all....Whistling [:-^]). I got the West End Market kit for possibly converting into a small bus station (which I saw pics of someone doing a ways back, and it looked really nice). (Actually, a ways back there was a Bachmann bus station that looked a bit like the City Classics one) But I've also seen pics of someone who did the kit as a supermarket and put an interior and shoppers, shelves, register and all in it, plus lighting - that looked sharp, too! Thumbs Up [tup] Which to do, which to do? Confused [%-)]

Terry, that's a bit of a vet's bill - let's see, about $600 per dog? Wow!! [wow] Bet you volunteers get a lot of love from those cockers, though. Smile [:)]

Jeff, good news on your Mom (and that you have the mowing done for the day/weekend).

Actually, it looks like this could be a good weekend for several Diners. Jeff's got his mowing done and is ready to kick back, Ryan doesn't have to go to a ball game, TrainsRMe1 is getting ready to go to the beach and Zzz [zzz] (Congratulations on your 100th post!), Packers#1 is listening to the tunes on YouTube, PC and family are off to the houseboat, JR has his place pretty much to himself, JP's off to the fair with the lady from downstairs, and Duke's way ahead of us already in the Zzz [zzz] department...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Whistling [:-^] I almost feel ashamed at getting some 'work' done this morning... Wink [;)]

This morning (and a little of the afternoon) was our MRR club's workday, and I put down the other half of one town's roadbed for the sidings, passing track and mainline (bottom layer) as far as we had the mainline designed and drawn. The others were working (about 3-4 of them and another 'supervising') on the supports and masonite for the backdrop, and got almost all of it (except for the two areas where I was gluing and pinning down the cork roadbed) installed. I had the laundromat do my laundry while I was at workday (ouch - cost me about double what it would've been if I'd done it myself! Oh well...). After picking up laundry, I also went by Hobby Lobby and picked up the W-S Tombstones set (with their 40 percent off coupon). I'll go back when the 40 percent coupon is back, and pick up some other figures or that Classic Metal Works black 1979 Ford Fairlane (with liftable hood and engine). Love those coupons! Smile [:)]

Jeff, is that rain you're getting the edges of Faye, or from the southward-moving front that we had through here the past couple of days? I haven't checked the radars yet today, so it could be either one, I suppose. Maybe our front is working its way east (but it was moving North to South when it moved through here yesterday...). Your b-i-l has backups for his backup cars, huh? Yeah!! [yeah]

JR, that Land Cruiser sounds like a possibility for a winter car, all right! Did I read that correctly, that it has power door locks, shift to 4-wheel on the fly and all (except for A/C)?

Well, all this talk about kickin' back and takin' it easy has me.... Zzz [zzz] Ummmff? Oh yeah,

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau  Zzz [zzz]

Hello all,

Sounds like PC will have a sweet day on the house boat.

Ryan, we will keep him in our prayers glad things are doing better.

Well my life is now complete, I just won 6,000 HO-Scale railroad ties.  I didn't really need that many but I guess I'll figure something out.  Just finished a Accurail Pere Marquette 40' box car kit, very easy to assemble and it was only $8.   Maybe tonight I can work on installing some back drops on the layout.

Danged straight I'm kicking back. It's almost six acres but it goes pretty quick with a 60+" cutting width.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!! Mom called late yesterday and gave us the update on my dad, the latest blood work tests show his enzyme markers for the pancreatic cancer screening are only double the normal reading and that is down from the 10X reading he had a few weeks ago, so that is great news. My dad is now scheduled to meet with the Gastroenterologist on Friday next week to schedule the gall bladder surgery for sometime after the Labor Day holiday. While they are in there for that surgery they will take a biopsy of the pancreas to test again for cancer.

Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup] A big thank you for all your support, prayers, thoughts and love! We really appreciate it, just goes to show you that prayer is an amazing thing! Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.Angel [angel] Angel [angel]

BAD NEWS!!!! Ben has had a fever of 100 + for the past few days, took him to the doc this morning and he has strep throat! Now on antibiotics and bed rest for the weekend! Oh well, have to skip baseball practice this afternoon. Zzz [zzz]

How do you test the pairs to find two close in speed? Now if they come up with a sound decoder for the DL-109 you can use one sound decoder for two locos as well?

I simply put the locos on the track, turned up the DC power and watched to see which one out-paced the other. They're very, very closely matched already so they were the best candidates for the project. As far as far running two locos through a sound decoder, I have no idea.

My mother is doing just fine. My father is home today so he'll take care of her. As far as the next project? I don't know. They just kinda hit me out of the blue. I'll have to wait for another one to pop up.

Morning all!

The morning should be quiet, but as the cold front approaches the state, scattered thunderstorms will develop.  Highs will be in the mid to upper 80's.

Hi 87 F
Lo 71 F

Around here we're just getting ready to head out for a week and a half on the houseboat.  We'll tool around Dale Hollow til we find a spot to tie up, then it's nothing but relaxing, jet ski's, and fishing for a good long while.  On that note, you won't see me around here after tonight most likely as there's no real internet access down there on the lake.  I'll stop in later today though and say hi!

For now, I'm outta here!

Good Morning All,

Ah Saturday in the shop - Moby Grape on the CD and no one to bug me. CFO is off to Plattsburg with the rest of#2 sons furniture and the rest of the smedleys are off today.

We had an 84 Land Cruiser land in the yard yesterday that I might get for a backup winter car. Refreshing - no A/C, auto door locks/power windows/shift to four wheel drive on the fly or automatic/paddle shift. Single carb, 4 speed 4wd - does have a radio though (need to check it for tubes,no?) Well off to the world of race cars. I'll try to stop by at lunch time.     J.R.

Top of the page and all! Warm up the credit card ladies and serve the boys what they want (girls too if Sue shows up). I'll have a regular and a short stack of blueberry pancakes with link sausage on the side. Big Smile [:D]Dinner [dinner]

Morning gang!

Look as though if I want the kitchen remodeled, it will have to wait till I have more $$$$. However, I may go and buy a new stove, fridge, washer and dryer, and let the dishwasher wait till I remodel the kitchen.

Ryan - Layout will be in the basement along w/ the washer/dryer, and furnace/hot water tank. Garage is for my truck, snowblower, mower trash and storage.

Well gang, the lady neighbor downstairs wants me to go to the Fair with ehr this morning, so I best be heading for the shower and getting dressed.

Take care and enjoy the day!

Good morning.

It's 76 and mostly clear. The high is expected to be in the low 90's and there's a chance of thunderstorms.

Yesterday I completed my project of having two locos run by one decoder. It's quite a success. Last night my brother-in-law had to go out and pick up his son and tow his Jeep back home. It had thrown a rod as he was heading home after having dinner with the family in town. In no way does this mean his mobility is limited. He has four more cars to go through before that happens.

Evenin', Chloe - is there any cake left? Wow!! [wow] Yes, I would like some, just one piece of cake and a cup of decaf. Thanks!

Just a short stop by the Diner before I pack it up for the night. Paul, sounds like you have been one busy guy today on the RIP track. And three more to go, plus move start moving the  kids to the new home? Better rest up tomorrow night!

Rob, I'll put a few Angel [angel]Angel [angel] in for some rain your way - depending on how our rain today goes (east or northerly direction), you might get some rain tomorrow or the next day. If not, Faye may wend her way back to the east after she drenches Alabama, Mississippi and Jeff in Louisiana. Haven't seen what track they think Faye may follow once she gets to the Florida panhandle. On the additional purchase comment I made, I just recalled the times when I'd said something like that (...and then ended up getting 'just one more thing...' Whistling [:-^]

Tomorrow morning is our MRR club workday - and my order through the LHS owner/club member is in, so I need to take a good chunk of My 2 cents [2c] along with me for that (plus my club dues that I owe yet for the month). Today at work wasn't bad at all in the afternoon, and my three clients in the morning all showed, and all seemed to be making some progress. One was doing well enough that we terminated therapy for now (the client will still see the psychiatrist for medication). The rest of the day wasn't too eventful, other than I didn't wind up getting lunch (unless you call what I had around 4:20 p.m. 'lunch'...)Whistling [:-^] But it's the weekend now!Big Smile [:D]

I'll finish up my desert and coffee for now and head home. Everybody get a good night's rest, so you can get those MRR projects done this weekend!

Blessings and a good night's rest,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

I went out to dinner with my sister and her family tonight, as with every Friday night. Her husband (my brother-in-law) is home from Iraq for a couple of weeks so he was with us. On the way back home they got a call from their son. His Jeep threw a rod so he needed them to get the truck and pull it home. So that's what they're doing now.

Evening Gang: Geeessse it was humid today. I felt like I'd been a shower after working in the shop for a couple of hours. I'm working on the first of the four 1 1/2 inch scale flat cars I got. They were built with a piece of 1in by 2in tubing for the center sill and that just isn't enough. I'm adding a fish belly of 2in by 2in tubing to give it some more strenght. The first car had a bout a 1/16 in dip in the middle already.

We went to a funeral this afternoon. Our daughter in laws grandmother passed away. The lady was 89 and had a bunch of medical problems. We never got to meet her but I understand that she was quite a gal.

Mark a very happy birthday to you young man.Happy B-Day [bday] Now don't pig out on the cake leave me a small piece.

The cattle are happy with the rain. They actually want to go out into the pastures. That will save some hay. It's suprising how fast some rain will turn the grass into something that they want to eat.

Well I'm going to hit the hay. We are going to start moving the kids into there new home tomorrow.

Good Night All

***Mark, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and may it be a great one!

***Lee, I discovered they used tar paper on the bottom 1' or so when they ran out of house wrap. I dug out some TyVek & instructed our builder to finish the areas yet to be wrapped in that instead. I also picked up another roll of the heavy black window tape which I will personally take care of before the end of the weekend. I'm doing sides and top of windows only with it. I'm also taping their cheaper quality house wrap where it overlaps. My studio is as "tight as a tick", and we have debated installing a fresh air duct as you described. ***Jim, OK, you were right. See what I did today after swearing I wouldn't:

Yea, wife likes it. Big Smile [:D] As for the critters, Ms Be Downtown remains in a stall with a bad hoof crack and will be for some time. What's more worrisome is our creek is all but dried up again. I will need to check every day now to make sure the front pasture horses still have a puddle to drink from, which is all that is left. Will be preparing to move them into the middle pasture where I can pump some of the caught rain water from those storage tanks to them. YIKES, pray for rain!

Got some more posts set for the front porch. Ran to Home Depot for some odds & ends. Long day, very tired. Night all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure what position yet, but probably either line or line backer. We got our pads yesterday, and today, during the whole practice, it was raining, lol. I'm did so-so considering today's the first time I ever played in pad. And yeah, hopefully the Packers down the road. Between now and then, there's the Aiken High Hornets (what I'll be next year) and hopefully the Clemson Tigers (where I want to go to college, get a degree in civil engineering, and go work for a commuter line if I don't make the NFL or other pro sport).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!!!!
