Today, it is continue with painting the house, no rain sight for days, so I should be able to tear a big hole in this project. But I need to get up on the roof for some of this painting, so I will need to be careful.
I see that McCain has picked his VP running mate, the Governor of Alaska. He surprised everyone with this choice.

Haven't been able to go to my LHS for two weeks, he is on vacation up in the wilds of Maine.
Ahh, lunch is served......
Hey all, order me up a nice dark roast... hold the cream and sugar, I take mine black.
I see some familiar faces from the Atlas and Railroad.net forums.
Well, completely off topic I'm sure. I just picked up a set of Railflyer decals for NBSR 2317 in the yellow Sunbury scheme. As you may or may not know, the unit is a GMDD GP38-2 built in '79. What would be a good starting point, because I already have a P2K Geep and a whack of Cannon parts, but I've heard things about the Atlas Trainman units.
On topic, the leaves are changing here too. And it's late August! What gives?

HI guys,
A cup of hot Hawaiian Kona coffee please.
As others have mentioned, it has been cool here lately. Traded shorts for longs, and wore a long sleeved shirt. It has been 42* and 45* at night, and the other night was 39*.
The leaves here are changing and falling already!!!!!
My birthday is two days after the fall solstice next month, and I always hated its arrival. Not because of aging, but because it means that the colder weather is definitely on its way.
Supposed to be a fantastic labor day weekend though.
Don't forget to stop over to see my thread "Show us your favorite model train station!" to post a pic of your favorite station and to see some great stations!
Have a super day!

***Lee, this P.T. Barnum's coach car says "POCHER Made In Italy". Is this an Athearn or ___?
The other car is LL, but has too thick a plug for the LL replacement knuckle couplers (Go Figure). If there is any other coupler that might work(?), I would rather try it before permanently shaving down those plugs.
(BTW, those LL conversion couplers worked perfectly on the two flat cars).
Not much sleep last night and they are banging away this morning. At least there is good progress. Wife and I discussed it and decided to let them build one small section of porch framework in "the deep end" (as I call it), so I won't have to mess with a huge 6x6 post. Have done those in the past alone, but perhaps this time (with two bad ankles) the expense might save me some grief. Depends on what the contractor will do it for. Sure would make the porch I'm presently working on easier to tie into on that end.
Will be in a corner booth working on this coffee. Rob
Hello Everyone,,, just thought i'd pop in for a quickie, not been in for a year or more, hope your all fit and well. It's been an exciting year so far with some great steam loco's coming back from the graveyard, only one to see this weekend. I see Joe is launching a free mag, look's good to me. I have dismantled my MRR in anticipation of moving to NZ,
Later all
Good morning,
The weather here has been great, haven't had the A/C on for almost a week now; that is almost unheard of here in August.
Rob, those LL couplers are great for the Model Power and LL rolling stock, but for Athern, some AHM and Bachman I've been using E-Z mate. Looks like Flash has just what the doctor ordered.
George, sounds like you had a great time with the nephew.
Jeff thanks for the update. I live at

There were four country churches in a small Texas town: The Presbyterian Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church and the Catholic Church. Each church was overrun with pesky squirrels.
One day, the Presbyterian Church called a meeting to decide what to do about the squirrels. After much prayer and consideration they determined that the squirrels were predestined to be there and they shouldn't interfere with God's divine will.
In the Baptist Church the squirrels had taken up habitation in the baptistery. The deacons met and decided to put a cover on the baptistery and drown the squirrels in it. The squirrels escaped somehow and there were twice as many there the next week.
The Methodist Church got together and decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God's creation. So, they humanely trapped the Squirrels and set them free a few
miles outside of town. Three days later, the squirrels were back.

August you say? I've been cold all day. Stupid school thermostat has 2 settings. Icebox and oven.
Nayway, another mrr plan has been made. Decding to clear out a different room later, and leave only the choo-choos upstairs. So here; the raw version.

Good Evening, Chloe, Zoe - I see you haven't changed the shift yet. I'll have one of Galaxy's grill specials, please. Yep, the chicken one for tonight; oh yeah, and a root beer float. I got a bit busy this afternoon and couldn't get by the Diner. Thanks!
Paul, good thing they had that drawing board, or you'd have been at school still, huh? Hopefully you'll find out about the plans for tonight - maybe even a half hour ahead of time.
Rob, I didn't know they had 'inexpensive' garden scale RR stuff (unless you compare it to Paul's larger-yet scale stuff, that is. Good luck on that one!
Sawyer, drink those fluids, if your weather there was as warm and sticky as ours was this afternoon. It felt like August, by golly! Best wishes on good practices and on the jamboree.
Jerry, I'm a somewhat happier camper today on the drive for the laptop. Got an email back from the seller, and he's sending another drive out. Now, if this drive - which had been doing better some of the time - decides to 'heal itself', I might end up with two working drives. If I got the parts to get that other (non-working now) laptop running, I could upgrade it and have two good laptops... But I'm glad for now that the seller is working with me on making sure the drive works. If it ends up with both drives working eventually, I'll probably send him another money order for the second one.
Terry, I would second Rob's suggestion - don't overdo, okay?
I'm on-call tonight (hoping for a very 'dull' evening), and tomorrow is Friday (YAY!!!) and a long weekend. Got my dinner and I'm just chillin' at a local WiFi spot until either the pager goes off, my laptop's battery goes down, or it's time to head home and try to get some nap time.
I'll be working on my chicken in the window booth for now.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Hi Gang: Today is the #2 grand daughters birthday. She is 3 yrs old. We took her to her pre school this morning for the orientation. She wouldn't let go of my hand for the longest time. She finally found a drawing board and I was able to slip away.
Rob for outdoors the LGB is the way to go. The track is practicly indestructable and the locos hakdle the dirt and oxidation on the track well. It's very reliable stuff. For inexpensive equipment I really can't say where to go. E-bay I guess. I myself don't mess with E-bay but you do.
Well I'd better go. I don't know what is planned for tonight. No one tells me anything I'm supposed to read there minds.
See you all later.

***Jerry, glad you were able to solve the problem with the SW-8. Ballast is something I'm not thrilled about tackling when the time comes, but sure is necessary for effect. Wouldn't want a grain of ballast to visit one of my locos either.
Went to replace the original couplers on the wife's LL circus car, only to discover the pin size is too large for the replacement LL knuckle couplers. That was after removing globs of glue from a previous owner. Will have to get out a box cutter and carefully shave it down I suppose.
Wife is off picking up a few more plants to replace the hedge that got cooked by the fire. I just hope the goats don't get out and find the new planting.
Well, better get back to work on that front deck. Have a good day all.
Good morning All...Its sunny and hot and humid here this morning..O'l Arthur tells me gotta have some rain headed this way...No breakfast for me but Galaxy put me down for a T-bone,corn on the cob and a big plate of those sliced tomatoes please..Thank You...
I am in a better mood I finaly got the problem with my LL SW 8 figured out with help from a feller over on the Atlas Forum...The front truck had picked up a grain of ballast in gears..got it out and ran it in both directions for about an hour and its running great again..Thats a problem I never had in HO!!...
Paul...Your buzzards may be related to the ones we have here in town..They built a new cell tower just north of us and 6 or 7 buzzards stay on it most of the time...Guess they get better reception on their cell phones..LOL....
Fergie..Thats one nice looking engine and looks like it could pull the paper off the wall..
Jim...Have you got your driver problems fixed?
You all have a good one..Jerry

***Terry, do take it easy. Let your body recover and heal.
Well, need to keep an eye on what the construction gang is doing today. Wife is still sound asleep. I still don't understand that. Then again, when I was a child, my siblings would feed me crackers in my sleep and I would eat them.

Good Morning, Zoe. My apologies to Chloe and you Diners for the rant last night. After I got back home, I tried swapping that burner into another drive bay I had, and while I had some problems, it was able (as far as I could tell) to burn two of three DVDs okay (the last 2 of the 3). So maybe it will be working - I'll try with some CD-R's this weekend and see.
Oh, Zoe, I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, cup of coffee and some of Bill T.'s buffet, please. Thanks!
Supposed to be hot and more humid today - about 94 percent humidity at the moment, and 65 F, but predicted to reach the low 90's today. Regular August weather around here.
Galaxy, I'll have to think about my favorite station (and find a pic of what it looks like to post).
I'll be with Terry in the back booth, talking weather. Terry, do you have someone to help you get that boat loaded up to move (and to unload)? Don't take on more than what you're able to right now.
Prayers for those in need of healing and comfort.
Morning all!!!
Tall cup of Hawaiian Kona Sunrise coffee please!
Nice day today. Have Drs. appt. today, the not-so-pleasant one. Will be sure to take my Trains magazine.
I'm "buying" (cooking on the grill for y'all) all day today- but heres what I'm offering:
A "togo" container with your choice: from the grill- chicken, eye round steak, porkchops, or a T-bone steak, burgers, all along with some potato salad, coleslaw, fresh tomato slices and corn on the cob.
Bought a whole bunch of one pound T-bones for $4.48/lb at customer appreciation days, so take advantage.
Stop on over to my "show us your favorite model train station" thread and post a pic so we can all see your fav station. I'm looking for inspiration and ideas.Maybe others are too!
HAve a SWELL day!
