Evening Gang:

Galaxy: That is so true. Ouch! I didn't see my wife looking over my shoulder. It's a good thing the spare room is still made up.

The trip to the eye doctor was good news. My eyes are both back to 20/20. I still need to use reading glases but I don't have to have glases for most other seeing. Now if I could just get rid of this allergy. That weed and brush mowing has really got the allergise going. The doctor gave me some eye drops to help. I'm just so tired of taking eye drops.

I got some work done on the 1 1/2 inch cars today. I got the coupler knuckle replaced in the one coupler. That took an hour or so. When working with castings there is some fedling, filling, and fussing that needs to be done. Next I have to get the two gons sanded down and painted. I should get the other two gons out and do them at the same time. The other gons are shorter. They are about 5ft. long. The first two run about 6 1/2 ft. After that there are the four flat cars. I don't think that I'll be able to get everything done by the steam meet the first week of October.

Right now I'm really ready to get to bed. I'm still behind from the other day when my SIL's cell phone woke me up at 4am. Pay back is coming.

Well I'll head for bed.

Good Night All

This is for those who have trouble with the womenfolk:

The Man Rules
Finally , the guys' side of the story.
We always hear ' the rules' From the female side.

Now here are the rules from the male side.
These are our rules!
Please note.. these are all numbered '1 '
ON PURPOSE!

1.   Men are NOT mind readers.

1. Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down!!

1. Sunday sports It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides.
Let it be.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem
only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
In fact, all comments become Null and void after 2 Days.

1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the
 other one

1. You can either ask us to do something Or tell us how you want it done.
Not both.
If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself!

1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials...

1. Christopher Columbus did
NOT need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings.
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not
A color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it
will be scratched. We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say 'nothing,' We will act like nothing's wrong..
We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, Expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...
Really .

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball
or
golf.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape.
 Round IS a shape!

1. Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight;

But do women know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.

  1. When in question, please see rule number 1.

Pass it on to men who need a laugh. Pass it on to women who can handle the truth!

And last, but not least,

1. Stay out of the train room!

-G .

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Evening, Chloe, I'll have the beef dinner with a glass of wine, please.

Thanks!

Packers#1:

Yeah Jim, no injuries. We play our arch-rival Kennedy Middle school (aka the Kennedorks) next Wednesday.

I'm just guessing here, Sawyer, but would that nickname probably not be Kennedy M.S.'s nickname for their team, right? Wink [;)] Good luck on that game.Thumbs Up [tup]

Is it football time already, Jeremy? Whistling [:-^]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

SWDan, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner - I would've guessed you modeled the SouthWest from your name. Although once you said On30, I figured out the steam part. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Are you modeling a particular RR line, or freelancing?

The rain's stopped here for now, though it's still pretty grey outside. On the evening weather radar, it looked like most of the rain was up the Ohio River, toward Lee's and PC's and Garry's direction (or NE from them).

Well, I'm going to work on my beef and listen to Sawyer and Jeremy discuss football (or are they talking about NASCAR?), and nod my head like I keep up with and understand all that... Zzz [zzz]Oops [oops] Sorry, guys, I was just (how did PC describe that...) ah, checking my eyelids for light leaks - Yeah!! [yeah], that's it!

Kyle Busch is not gonna run away w/ it in the chase, Carl Edwards will win it, or some hendrick driver will catch fire. I hope Carl Edwards or Jimmie Johnson wins it. I loved it when Carl spun Busch out at Bristol and bumped him out of the way. I lost a ton of respect for Kyle Busch. I know some people who were actually at that race, lol.

You got that right buddy, Carl got a new fan (me) last weekend. Jimmie starting to turn on, so watch out!! I'm a Dale Jr fan, I hoping now thats he's in, he will stop being so conservative and drive like he used too.
At any rate, I think we all hope Shrub detonates.

Yeah. I prefer nascar, but I also like F1 (thank you Speed channel). A former F1 driver (I think he drove F1) named Sam Posey is a model railroader. of the few model railroading books my library has, there's one by Sam posey called Playing With Trains: A Passion Beyond Scale. Always makes me want to get some work done on my layout. I'm a little ticked, because the most up to date game station I got is a Nitendo Gamecube, so no madden 09 for me (dang it). But, the new Tork mets are winning the NL east last time I checked, so it's all good. I don't really watch hockey, but I probably will this year. And the final race in the race for the chase is this weekend (I ain't missin' it), and the Chase starts weekend after next (this is NASCAR).

A descent card reader also extends battery life enorously. I use one that reads seven different card types.

***Lee, yes, although I'm not sure where to run it to. The main area where the TV & stereo goes will be above one of those fake fireplaces (electric w/ fake flames....wife's idea, not mine). So, still decisions to make. Thought about running one phone line to the "Diner" part of the screend porch to put in an old fashioned wall phone or perhaps a payphone.Laugh [(-D] Not sure on that one yet.

Have a great day all.

Jim, The copper thieves up here are so bad they steel the copper out of houses people are living in. Not uncommon for people to come home to flooded basements, missing the furnace, hot water tank, and all the copper pipes. To fight this the city has police checking vehicles as they come into the scrap yards.

Rob, will you be running some CAT5 wire for future computer lines along with speaker wire?

Hi Gang:

Jim: No copper thiefs just contractors doing a job of removing the lines for the UP. I talked to the crew when they were working down there and asked them to not leave the stuff in the grass because I'd be mowing it. Some folks just don't respect others. Anyway since they seem to have thrown it away I hauled it off. Tough for them.

I the railroad folks are much better but when a crew comes through doing alot of track work like replacing ties they tend to loose stuff. Actually if I can keep the grass and weeds down it will make it easyer for them to find stuff and myself also. Usually if I find something like a new barrel of spikes ore something else that can be used I'll set it up by the crossing and call the foreman so they can pick it up when someone comes by. The junk I pile up and load in the next batch of scrap going to the scrap dealer. Of course any old cross ties wind up as fence posts.

Well I don't have enough time untill the doctors appointment so I guess I'll head for the shop and tidy up a bit.

See you all later.

Morning, Zoe - I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, cup of coffee, scrambled eggs and toast please (Yep, with blackberry jam). Thanks!

Tom, great news on your knees (well, maybe not the looks of that other knee you wouldn't describe, I dunno...)Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] I'd agree with both you and PC - make a big version of the sign for school, and an HO scale one for the layout!Laugh [(-D] And wasn't that huge German gun called something like Big Bertha or such?

 jeffrey-wimberly wrote:
I'm feeling a little better now but still a bit tired. I've been under a lot of stress the last couple of days.

Uh... a bit of an understatement there...Wink [;)] Get rested up, Jeff - we'll be here, keeping your spot warm for ya. Thumbs Up [tup]

Terry, looked at your new building topic, and you're going great guns on that! Bow [bow] You might think about writing an article for MR - even the basics of scratchbuilding is something a lot of us could learn more about.Yeah!! [yeah]

Gustav's leftovers are north and slightly west of us today, and I heard that across the river in Randolph Count, Illinois (kind of north of Cape) they got 4 or 5 inches of rain so far. We have rain here today, and slight winds (20-25mph). S'pposed to reach upper 70's F today, so it won't be that warm.

Rob, for the MRR room, you could put a speaker plate in the ceiling or wall, and have the wires  run to that. Then later you could get a good speaker and put it in behind the plate. One possible idea for you. (or two plates, if you want stereo..)

Paul, how quickly did you find the 'off' switch for your son's cellphone? I'd be finding that really quick. Shock [:O] That wakeup call back to him about 2 a.m. sounds ...uh.. appropriate enough. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] What do they do in your train route area there - use it for their personal trashpile? That's a bunch of junk to have to watch out for when you're trying to run trains.

Hmm, I wonder - with that copper wire you found along the tracks - maybe there are copper thieves in the area and they tried to hide their stuff until they could get to a scrap dealer with it? Several weeks back, in our area some of the more rural areas were having reports of someone stealing copper (anything) from old buildings, because the price of copper had gone up.

Jerry, hope they get your chair redone quicker than they think. Yeah!! [yeah] That's a long time, seems like (and I'm not the one who has to hope my chair holds together that long)! Your circus train cars sound neat - when you get a chance, post some pics as you get those done.

Sawyer, sounds like a good game for you (and no injuries, right?). Thumbs Up [tup]

Colby,  enjoyed the night pics you posted for Garry's birthday. Thumbs Up [tup]

I'll be at the window booth, working on breakfast and seeing who comes by.

Tall glass of lemon water, please.

***Jim, haven't talked to any highfi folks, but have done some research online. Already have the wire & boxes ready to sneak into the build when the time comes. I will wire for 7.1 even though I'll only have 5.1 surround. Will also run two wires to the train room, even if it may be a long time before I have extra speakers for it. At least there will be room for expansion, even if I never take advantage of it my lifetime.

***Tom, that is excellent progress. Continued healing!

***Jerry, please do take some pics to share of your circus cars. My wife will want to see them, too. Hers is a small mixmaster of cars thus far, all in need of some sort of work, (painting or coupler upgrades), but it's a start. I have been considering picking up some stock cars and trying to custon paint them in circus colors for here. (probably a project for next year)

***Paul, that wire can make one heck of a serious tangled mess. I didn't realise how much hidden stuff you were having to keep an eye out for. Brings excitement to the job, eh! Hey, do you think your son inlaw will notice that 3 hour call you made to my brother in HongKong to chat about trains? (that would teach em)Laugh [(-D]

Have a good night all. Healing thoughts to those in need.

Evening Gang:

Garry a very Happy Birthday to you Happy B-Day [bday] and many more.

Rob I wish that ballast was the only thing that I tried to grind up. I've come across pieces of rail up to 132lb and 6 ft long, ties, pieces of cross arms, and telephone poles. I saw the rolls of wire before I hit them. That would have been fun getting all that copper wire untangled.

Tom good to hear that you are getting better.

Jeff you take care of yourself.

We went out for our son's birthday tonight. I had a good steak and the bill for the 9 of us. Tomorrow it's back to the eye doctor for a check up. Everything is looking good from my side. My son in law left his cell phone on the desk next to the computer last night. Now that in itself isn't a problem but the desk is next to my bed and the phone's alarm was set for 4am. I told him tonight that pay backs are H. Since I usually wake up between 2 and 3am he could get a phone call sometime soon. Would I do something like that? He, He, He.

Well it's off to bed.

Good Night All
