A descent card reader also extends battery life enorously. I use one that reads seven different card types.

I love the NFL! And I still love the Packers, even though they let Favre go. Also love the Saints, Chargers, and Jets.

Yeah. I prefer nascar, but I also like F1 (thank you Speed channel). A former F1 driver (I think he drove F1) named Sam Posey is a model railroader. of the few model railroading books my library has, there's one by Sam posey called Playing With Trains: A Passion Beyond Scale. Always makes me want to get some work done on my layout. I'm a little ticked, because the most up to date game station I got is a Nitendo Gamecube, so no madden 09 for me (dang it). But, the new Tork mets are winning the NL east last time I checked, so it's all good. I don't really watch hockey, but I probably will this year. And the final race in the race for the chase is this weekend (I ain't missin' it), and the Chase starts weekend after next (this is NASCAR).

San fransico, I hope, lol. Kyle Busch is not gonna run away w/ it in the chase, Carl Edwards will win it, or some hendrick driver will catch fire. I hope Carl Edwards or Jimmie Johnson wins it. I loved it when Carl spun Busch out at Bristol and bumped him out of the way. I lost a ton of respect for Kyle Busch. I know some people who were actually at that race, lol.

You got that right buddy, Carl got a new fan (me) last weekend. Jimmie starting to turn on, so watch out!! I'm a Dale Jr fan, I hoping now thats he's in, he will stop being so conservative and drive like he used too.
At any rate, I think we all hope Shrub detonates.

Evening, Chloe, I'll have the beef dinner with a glass of wine, please.

Thanks!

I'm just guessing here, Sawyer, but would that nickname probably not be Kennedy M.S.'s nickname for their team, right? Wink [;)] Good luck on that game.Thumbs Up [tup]

Is it football time already, Jeremy? Whistling [:-^]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

SWDan, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner - I would've guessed you modeled the SouthWest from your name. Although once you said On30, I figured out the steam part. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Are you modeling a particular RR line, or freelancing?

The rain's stopped here for now, though it's still pretty grey outside. On the evening weather radar, it looked like most of the rain was up the Ohio River, toward Lee's and PC's and Garry's direction (or NE from them).

Well, I'm going to work on my beef and listen to Sawyer and Jeremy discuss football (or are they talking about NASCAR?), and nod my head like I keep up with and understand all that... Zzz [zzz]Oops [oops] Sorry, guys, I was just (how did PC describe that...) ah, checking my eyelids for light leaks - Yeah!! [yeah], that's it!

This is for those who have trouble with the womenfolk:

The Man Rules
Finally , the guys' side of the story.
We always hear ' the rules' From the female side.

Now here are the rules from the male side.
These are our rules!
Please note.. these are all numbered '1 '
ON PURPOSE!

1.   Men are NOT mind readers.

1. Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down!!

1. Sunday sports It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides.
Let it be.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem
only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
In fact, all comments become Null and void after 2 Days.

1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the
 other one

1. You can either ask us to do something Or tell us how you want it done.
Not both.
If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself!

1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials...

1. Christopher Columbus did
NOT need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings.
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not
A color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it
will be scratched. We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say 'nothing,' We will act like nothing's wrong..
We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, Expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...
Really .

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball
or
golf.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape.
 Round IS a shape!

1. Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight;

But do women know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.

  1. When in question, please see rule number 1.

Pass it on to men who need a laugh. Pass it on to women who can handle the truth!

And last, but not least,

1. Stay out of the train room!

Evening Gang:

Galaxy: That is so true. Ouch! I didn't see my wife looking over my shoulder. It's a good thing the spare room is still made up.

The trip to the eye doctor was good news. My eyes are both back to 20/20. I still need to use reading glases but I don't have to have glases for most other seeing. Now if I could just get rid of this allergy. That weed and brush mowing has really got the allergise going. The doctor gave me some eye drops to help. I'm just so tired of taking eye drops.

I got some work done on the 1 1/2 inch cars today. I got the coupler knuckle replaced in the one coupler. That took an hour or so. When working with castings there is some fedling, filling, and fussing that needs to be done. Next I have to get the two gons sanded down and painted. I should get the other two gons out and do them at the same time. The other gons are shorter. They are about 5ft. long. The first two run about 6 1/2 ft. After that there are the four flat cars. I don't think that I'll be able to get everything done by the steam meet the first week of October.

Right now I'm really ready to get to bed. I'm still behind from the other day when my SIL's cell phone woke me up at 4am. Pay back is coming.

Well I'll head for bed.

Good Night All

Good evening to all, spent most of the day up on a ladder trying desperately to finish painting the whole house before Hanna pays us a visit on Saturday and maybe two more storms after her.

JEFF: Glad to see you survived Gustav OK and no serious damage to the Trailer and layout.

GARRY: Happy Birthday!!!Happy B-Day [bday]  How does it feel to 42?  LOL

NEW DINERS :   Welcome to the new guys in the Diner, have a lunch on my tab...Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

The latest track as of 11pm takes Hanna right over our town, and just to the west of John, Luc and Fergie houses up in Nova Scotia. I am not too concerned about this one, the winds won't be higher than 50, and we should be able to handle up to 6" of rain here OK. The ground has dried up quite a bit over the past 4 weeks with little rain.

Just received the latest issues of TRAIN and MRR Mags, so Saturday is all set for Hanna.

Time to hit the sack, see you guys tomorrow

Nine words women use...

1.) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they
are right and you need to shut up.

2.) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an
hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five
more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means
something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with
nothing usually end in fine.

4.) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5.) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal
statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you
are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and
arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of
nothing.)

6.) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a
woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and
hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just
say you're welcome.

8.) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying: [you don't even want to know this one]

9.) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement,
meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several
times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man
asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to #3.

Good morning.

it's 72 and cloudy. The high will be in the upper 80's and it will be partly cloudy.

Yesterday I had to remove the new turnout from my layout. It was causing problems with some of the larger locomotives that I use. My curves are 18" radius (it's not possible to go larger) but the curved part of the turnout is more like 15" radius and some of the larger power didn't like it, and they're Athearn BB's. Get that! My P2K E's took it just fine but the Athearn P's wouldn't touch it.

I went in to see the foot doctor yesterday, two days late because of Gustav. He likes the progress I'm making on my healing and is setting things in motion to have a new pair of shoes made. That's a long process that requires precise measurements, castings and fittings. It can sometimes take the better part of a year. It's not like I can just buy my shoes off the rack like everyone else does. I wish I could.

Good morning all.

Welcome to the diner swdan!  Well I'd be interested in hearing more about your layout and your progress.

Free to a good home: I have an excess of gondola bodies, caboose bodies, and a few hopper bodies.  Missing trucks and couplers (HO-Scale). If anybody wants them shoot me an email and they are yours.

Time for some fall house cleaning: This weekend I'll be updating my "RIP Track" album with some rolling stock I want to get rid of.  I have several pieces of post 1960 rolling stock I would like to swap for pre 1959 rolling stock or buildings to better fit my transition era theme.

Hi all, Jim the On30 layout is going to be free lanced. Just haven't made up my mind yet. Looking and reading up on the East broad top. But also like the idea of taking the Copper range railroad in MI and making it narrow gauge.

My HO layout is going to be a double track runner, of anything I feel like running at the time. For years I was some what of a nitpicker, big time operating nut. But for me the more rules we used as Pro Railers made the layout seem more toy like, and a *** job instead of a hobby. So I realized the thing I liked the most was sitting back and watching the trains passing though a well build scene, with no card cards, or time tables, sitting in the hole for a real hour. So I guess that now makes me part of the Pro roundy rounders club.( and happy to be back!) No more I have to have this done I have a operating session this weekend Sad [:(] now its just which should I run now a Penn's steam or a Soo Line train with a GP30 and 35, wait I have two tracks again I can run them side by side.

Jeff, I would hate to see the bill for those shoes.

  Good day to all.

Afternoon, Zoe - since PC's covering the tab, I'll have a chili dog,

cheesey fries,

and a root beer float, please.

Thanks, PC!

SWDan, since my sectional layout's not big enough yet, I'd be one of the Pro Back-n-Forthies, I suppose...Whistling [:-^]Wink [;)] I may make some car cards (or buy some) later, but I don't think I'll get around to any timetable or fast clock or such. I probably have as much fun building structures and scenes as trying to get to the next town before the fast freight runs me down.Shock [:O]

Jeff, that's a pricey pair of shoes - sure hope they fit you well and don't give you blisters when you're breakin' them in. Yeah!! [yeah]

Oh, goody - the ham will be in tomorrow! Ham and cheese sandwich for my lunch tomorrow. Thumbs Up [tup] Love that Kentucky ham, Garry. Smile [:)]

I'd thought we were supposed to get sunshine today, but that was only briefly. It's been looking off and on like we might get some more rain (but none yet). At least they are saying that tomorrow it will be clear.

Inch and Galaxy, excellent lists there (Sue's not peeking in the window, is she?). Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Pretty accurate, I'd say, too.

Lee, any rolling stock or buildings that you'd like to swap for? Let us know - never can tell what might be lurking in someone's bin of "buildings I'm gonna build... someday"! Laugh [(-D] (Seriously, looking for any kinds of industries or other buildings, cars, etc.?)

Hey, Colby, scoot over a bit and I'll even share some of my cneesey fries with ya....Wink [;)]Dinner [dinner]

And TGIF - (YAY!!) Weekend's here!

My in-laws stayed in NOLA for duration and electricity just came back up a few days ago!

And now as I look out the window at work the outer bands of Hanna are making some much needed rain. We expect some more of that and hopefully the wind won't get too bad. <<<Fingers crossed>>>

Thoughts and prayers for everyone! Angel [angel]
