Brandon .... Great plan, and also the people at the museum may have contacts at CSX and other railroads. I would suggest two employers in Paducah to you also. The P&L Railroad. Also, VM Locomotives is now owned by National Railway Equipment. You could contact them explaining your career aspirations and ask them what you can do to qualify with them.
Everybody ....... I've been busy with an unwelcome task that distracted my attention away from model railroading today. My wife is out of town, and I'm helping by doing her Ebay stuff for her. Well, Ebay contacted us to advise that their security staff had spotted a third party had hijacted the Ebay name to list expensive merchandise. Huge amounts of fees were charged to our account. Ebay de-listed the items and refunded the fees. I had to change passwords. The hard part was reviewing all the numbers. I had several pages of fees and several pages of credits to cross check. After a few hours, my reconcilation is within $2.00, and it's not worth even more tome for that. Overall, I feel Ebay's security did a remarkable job. They spotted this issue in the middle of the night nearly immediately after it happend, and they took effective action before I could know about it. It did take a few hours of my time, but the fraud attempt could have cost us a lot of money if Ebay had not handled it so quickly and effectively.

BRANDON: I would LOVE to see rain! It finally quit snowing, but the wind's really blowing. We're hosting a dinner party tonight, so far no one's called to cancel.I spent most the morning shoveling snow drifts since my plow guy's stuck in HIS driveway! My little 2-stage wouldn't blow this wet JUNK! Then I took the 4wd truck and flatted out the littler drifts.

Good afternoon, gang. It is in the 70's today so I will have iced tea, please.
Here is another update on the stockyard.
This is my first try with the remote on the camera. I think that I will like it.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Thanks, Garry and Jerry.
I made some small Aggro trees that I will be adding between the stockyard and the creek bank. Larry got his first coat of stain on the bents for the trestle. It is so exciting to see progress.
***Garry, that's good to know. Wonder how someone was able to access your account in the first place. Glad it was resolved quickly like that.
***Sue, nice job there. Pardon my lack of memory, did you scratch build the stocks or is that from a kit?
Sorting photos is sooooo boring. Finding a number of BN train pics mixed in with years worth of wildlife reference & farm pics.
Coffee refill, please & thanks! Rob

Here's the loco I put the decoder into this morning. At least there's more room inside it than there was in that GP50.

Afternoon, Janie - I'll have a root beer float, please.
Haven't had one of those for a bit, seems like. Oh, yes, and I'd love a bowl of the beef stew special, too. Take a little of the chill off a person.
Sorry for my not being by lately much. Things got busy yesterday at work (and all my afternoon people came, so no slack time there), and had a problem with the car last night as I was coming back from the store (trail of smoke/fog behind the car). Got the car to the dealer this morning (though the 'check transmission' light came on halfway there, and the tranny was hemmin' and hawin' about staying in gear). Dealer gave me (and my laundry) a ride to the laundromat after I got the car checked in, and I walked the laundry back home (I'm guessing one-half to two-thirds of a mile for the route back home). The dealer called later and said they needed to replace a rubber pipe (that carries the transmission fluid to the engine?), but they have to get it from the Ford dealer and can't do that until Monday. So if I want that gallon of milk that I remembered I needed (after I got the car back home last night...), I'll have to hoof it to the store and back. So long as it doesn't rain, okay.
Garry, nice doodlebug there! Due to my car repairs, I won't be able to get to the Marion show tomorrow. I'll have to watch for when their next show is going to be. Wow - that was a scary thing with the eBay fraud crook. Good to hear they got it corrected quickly for you.
Brandon, that car you get to drive looks good, as well (and the Monte Carlo you're working on sounds like it will be great. Watch out you don't end up with tickets once you get it ready...
Jeff, Rob and everyone else who had the front come through earlier this week, we didn't get lots of rain Thursday after all (and I'm not complaining, either!).
Chuck & Kathy, good to see you in the Diner again. Even better to hear your weather is starting to defrost some. And ya, I think the little fella's cute!
Oh, speaking of Drew, I called Sarah couple of days ago and she said that after they got home, the hospital's nurse came by to check him over, the little one was a bit underweight and running a slight fever, so they ended up checking Drew back into the hospital for a better look. He's home now and doing great (just talked with my SIL). Joey the dog is spending a lot of time outside in the yard. Report I got was that she gets so excited and wants to lick Drew, but has been getting vetoed on that idea!
PC, that sounds like the banquet was quite a deal - for you son and for his team both! And now he has some 'tunes... It has been a good year for him (and the family) this school year, huh? So, are you jealous of Bill T. for closing in on your and Flip's TOP record?
RT, you've had a time of getting everything lined up with the new job. Now, if your name got confused with some terrorist, they'd get those fingerprints to them right fast, doncha know.
Jeff - with all the trouble that SD-40-2 has been giving you, is it time to change its number?
Janie, I must be hungry tonight - I'll have another bowl of that stew, please, and a cup of coffee. I'll be at the corner booth.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Yummy. Jim sure knows how to make a RBF.
Yes, Rob, thanks, it is scratch built. I needed rickety for the end of the line.
Philip, I sure enjoyed the layout photo. It has been a while since you started that project.

Rob: Changing the # wouldn't change anything.
Good evening ....a wild day here...it started off with heavy downpours overnight then a heavy fog set in by 3am. Then the sun came out by 8am, a total surprise to everyone especially the weathermen who forcasted a rainy day. The temp shot up from 44 to 70F by mid afternoon, then we had gusty winds, thunderstorms, sudden little downpours with peas sized raindrops, next came sun to the west and rain to the east of the house. A totally whacky day!!
I also received a surprise from the wife, she decided that the bedroom set downstairs in the lower level should go to one of our grandsons who has outgrown his "boy size" bed. Guys, do you know what this means? This room is 15 feet wide by 19 feet......and it's ALL MINE. I will be accepting layout plans from you guys starting NOW.
PC: Congratulations to your son !!! That is terrific Philip !!!!
SUE: Great job on the cattle pen, your scenery work is very inspiring Sue.
ED: Red Sox are in a rain delay in 8th inning, TS's are hammering Boston.
Later guys,

Good evening diners,
I just got some great news, my daughter Samantha has been accepted into a Veterinarian's college just north of Detroit. This is outstanding news since she can't apply until she gets her prerequisites done; the school called her and offered her enrolment 2 semesters early due to her grades. The down side is she has to go to classes this summer to finish those prerequisites PDQ.
Ok now I have to get caught up on the last 2 days of posts.

Hello everybody ....
Jeff, I really like the KCS unit! SD-40, correct? very nice.
Dick has some new right-of-way!!!! Now, it's time to plan. What's it going to be, Dick? ..the Boston & Albany? .... Boston and Maine? ..... oh, oh.... endless possibilities. Some of the CAD program gurus have a chore ahead, perhaps. Steam era, Dick? ..... This is exciting! Congrats, Dick..
Jim CG ... That's okay ... i hear it's a small show. The big part of the trip is at the basement of Chuck's Depot and the HO train layout he has. It fills an area of about 35 feet x 65 feet. Fun.
Good news, LEE about your daughter!
Happy Model railroading!
Cox 47 wrote:PC....Congrats to your Son on his awards last nite!!I think it means even more to think his team mates choose him...
I think definately! Those are all some real fine boys on that team though. I wouldn't have a problem with any of them coming to stay or something anytime. Just good boys!
And Jim, Bill can have it.......please, take it!
Sue, it's been quite a while! I really haven't done a ton on the layout in quite some time. Life keeps getting in the way, ya know? I have collected some supplies though, so maybe soon I can make a big push forward. If and when that happens, you know I'll have to subject you all to pics!
I'm on my way out, but I wanted to add this for those going down/volunteering: Having Job-Shadowed at the KY RR Museum for a day, they are a great bunch of guys. one of the conductors can be a little stern, if only to make sure you're really intrested. My only complaint is that I haven't gotten back down there again. Say hi for me if you think about it
Evening Gang: The train show at Clark Gardens went well today. It started slow put picked up around 12:30. I ran my live steamer on compressed air for the visitors. I only had 110 ft of track down and would back down and then run forward up a slight grade. The loco talked good on the up grade. Tomorrow it's back to the train show.
I got up extra early to take that load of trash up to the county barn. It was county clean up day so dumping was free.
PC: That's great news about you son. I'd be proud to.
Sue good looking set of pens there.
Well it's been along day so I'll head for bed.
Good Night All
Tall cool glass of water with a slice of lemon. Thanks!
News Flash: Don't know why it never registered before, but "4NScale" is located in Canton GA. This is the same town where the hospital is and only 30 minutes or so drive from our farm. Cool!
Have a good night all.

Good morning all,
KY RR museum? Can you send me a link?
Dick, very good news about the room. On the MRR home page they have a ton of free layout plans, just enter the size of the room and poof instant ideas.
Sue very nice cattle pens. OBTW if you and Larry get bored my 100 unpainted figures should be here this week feel free to stop by I have plenty of paint brushes. Maybe I'll make you some of my rhubarb pie from scratch!
PC, that dinner sounded very cool, you must be a very proud dad with an accomplishment like that. However I remember when the Sony Walkmans first came out I imagine they are a lot smaller than my old one (I had the cassette tape am/fm and my friends at school had the 8-track version).
I laid 72 feet of mainline yesterday and built an extension on the yard table for the Ice house.

Got a message on another forum from OzJim. He's having a lot of trouble posting here and wanted me to pass this on to the rest of you.
Gday all! Been a long time, I'm just here to let you know i'll be around the traps alot more now. As some of you may be aware I sold my US stuff to take up modelling Queensland Rail. However the constraints of needing 30" curves and basically a large space to have it, it wasn't to be, 12mm is just not suitable for me, I will still build the models but I will run them on my mates layout seen here www.wuiskepromotions.com.au click on Adams Corner. He also sells most of the QR models available. But because I love model railroads and running trains i'm going to build a small N scale layout based on a (more than likely) US railroad (ie, UP or BNSF) i'm not sure yet but it will let me run long trains and have a nice small layout in the garage for me to enjoy. I've got to check out some small trackplans. I hope all is well here! Ozjim! []
