Well, we're back from court.  It looks like we won, but the judge still has to make the final ruling.  They say that could take a month (!) or two (!!).  I'm not sure why that is, because even the doctors that they brought up against us said that my wife, and I quote, "meets the criteria for disability".  Seems pretty open and shut to me?  Then we were told that it could take another year or so before we see the first check!  Wish we could charge them interest on that money of ours that they're hanging on to.  Bet we'd get it a lot faster then.  Oh, and I was wrong about when this all started.  They recorded the start date in April 2003.  It's almost April 2008 now.  Oh well, it's all good.  The lawyer says it looks real good for us and he doesn't see how we could loose, so thats good.  Now, we just wait.......some more..........

Good evening all,

Made good progress in the basement remodeling project, new ceiling in the train room and decided on a indoor/outdoor carpet, only 44 cents a square foot (cheaper if I buy it by the square yard). I figure at the square foot price it will cost me $164 to cover the train room floor.

Phillip, congratulations on your victory, but keep tabs on that lawyer of yours he sounds very useful.

Paul, how did Dianne do at the doctor's visit?  That was today right?  You guy are still in our thoughts here.

Ok time to go back to work in the train room....

refill, please & thank you.

Philip, that's good news, (except for the time issues). I'll never understand folks who think Govt. could ever do a better job with OUR money than we can. They sure like taking all they can, but returning it is another matter. Sorry she still has to wait so long.

Saw the InLaws this evening. FIL is walking well and holding his own. MIL is still NUTS! Nothing to add to that. Mischief [:-,]

I have been coming here for two years this Feb and that is why I am still here and if I do venture out into the main room it is to just look. I'm not a big poster but the people here in the Diner (CS) are some of the best around so sit back and enjoy the company.

PC Good to hear the outcome should be positive. Thumbs Up [tup]

Evening Gang:

Baby Lara report. She is 4lbs 2 3/4 ozs. She opened her eyes and looked at us today. I told Mary Ann she was probably wanting to tell us to clam up so she could sleep.

John called last night and said that the doctors ruled out a clot and that Dianne had a pinched nerve. That took a load off my mind. We haven't heard from them today yet.

I got my 2 FM Erie builts from Train World today. One is another C&NW and the other is a Milw Rd. The C&NW was 6002A which was great since I have 6002B already. The Milw Rd looked real good with my 2 Hi cars. I ran them for awhile and they all ran very well. The 2 C&NWs matched perfectly for speed. Now I need to get some C&NW passanger cars.

NJBob: We've all been there. I guess it may be time for us old hands to give a resume again, so I'll start. I am modeling in HO and 7 1/2 inch gauge live steam. My HO layout is a bunch of started out as a modual and just kind of kept growing. It is now 12X26 in one end of the basement. Since it's your basic double track ovel I'm planning on going off into another part of the basement to ore docks and an ore mine or two. I freelance an Upper Michigan ore hauling railroad with trackage rights to Milwaukee Road and Chicago North Western. My live steamer is in 4 inch scale to model 2ft narrow gauge. It's a loose representation of a British Kerr Stuart 0-4-0 taknk engine. I also have a 1 1/2 inch scale SW 1200 for standard gauge. I'm retired from 30 years with Six Flags Over Texas as an animations technician. I flew helicopters in the Army for 7 years and live in North Texas west of Ft. Worth. I guess that's enough for tonight. By the way my wife says I talk too much. Go figure. I'm happy to have you here.

Now it's time for me to shut up.

Good Night All

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful day down here in Paradise.  Cool [8D]  A light drizzle coming down right now.  I love it.  Big Smile [:D]  Should stay nice like this for a couple of days.

Terry - a 115# lab?!?  Wow, that's a big lab.  Ours is not a real Lab, more of a street dog.  Well, not exactly a street dog either, he's out of a litter that my s-i-l's dog had, but exact parentage and breeds not certain.  Heck, the mother is a mongrel.  But he obviously had a lot of lab in some one of his ancestors because he looks and acts just like a lab.  Just over 5 months old, and just coming up to 45#.  Really nice dog.

NJ Bob:  I still feel new and really don't  know you that well yet so I find it hard to join it. Would someone point me in the right direction?
I think a lot of the others already made the point, but there's just really no substitute for time here.  You just gradually get to know the people and start chiming in on some remarks.  You're doing just fine.

Sometimes I think we kind of forget that newer patrons here don't know the background on those of us who have been here longer (heck, this thread and it's forerunners have been going on for almost 4 years).  Maybe it's time for us to resurrect the short bio idea, where we write a short paragraph about ourselves.

NJ Bob:  I'll tell you the truth I feel more at ease here then I do on when I go on some of the other threads on this forum.
A commonly expressed sentiment here in the comfy confines of the Coffee Shop / Diner.  Some people out there seem to get more than a bit testy.  Hard too see why when it's just discussions over a hobby.  But we've been very successful at keeping things calm here, even when we don't totally agree.

PC - preliminary congratulations on the court case.  Hope your lawyer was right and that there are no snags in the final ruling.

Duke - nice to see you dropping in occasionally.

Hasta mañana,

Ed

Freaky.  I'm busy adding smilies to my post and you write the same thing I was in the process of posting.  Wink [;)]

Okay, my turn.  I'm 60, retired after a career in the construction of refineries and petrochemical plants, and living in Mexico.  Born in Canada (actually, Newfoundland, before it was part of Canada), raised in Connecticut, college in upstate New York, and worked in a number of different states, provinces, and countries.  Off and on again (mostly off) model railroader for years, but now have my first operational (somewhat) layout, in Normal scale, on a hollow core wood door.

Oh yeah, and we have a small (5 acres, 650 tree) orange grove that we maintain as a hobby.  That's where the supply of virtual orange juice comes from for the virtual diner....

And, I've actually visited Paul at his home, seen both his HO layout and his big stuff out back.

Not a bad idea!

I live in central Indiana and work at the phone company as the head of the service department.  I'm going to college to basically be a Pastor or Bible college professor.  I'm in my senior year for my first degree, so it won't be long now hopefully.  I have a wife and two kids.  I started in model trains in the 70's when my dad set up some HO trains on a 4x8.  It was pretty cool, but I soon moved on to playing guitar, cars and girls.  In the 80's I got back into trains, only this time N scale.  I now have a double decked 15'x10' (with staging under that) protolance N scale layout that I'm building.  This darn backdrop is taking forever with all the other stuff I have going on, but I'm getting there.  My layout is all steam powered and it's based n the real life Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR that my grandfather worked on way back when.  I guess thats me in a nutshell (probably a very apropos place for me, huh?)

Evening, Chloe, Ed, Flashwave, PC. Chloe, could I have a cup of hot cocoa, please?

I'll go light on Terry so he doesn't get dishpan hands just yet. Have to build up that tough skin for when he hits the TOP and all the chowhounds come in at once! Shock [:O]

NJ Bob, once of the nice things about the Diner (besides the great company in here) is that in here we get to take off our flame-retardant gear and Kevlar vests... Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^] (Just kidding, I don't really need those out in the other topics usually (but I have pretty quick reflexes, too! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg])

As for my bio, I started with MRR'ing back in the 1950's (a 4 X 8 layout design from Boys' Life magazine by Glenn Wagner) - got it as far as the cookie-cutter roadbed (& then we moved & the layout & upright piano got left). Fast forward to the 1970's, & I had some lumber & other MRR’ing stuff - after I closed my photo studio and then got divorced, the lumber & MRR stuff sat in my storage shed until a few years ago. Then (after asking around in the Coffee Shop - predecessor to the Diner) I decided to cut my 4 X 8 into smaller, shelf-sized pieces for a sectional layout. Here's about what I have currently, in two 4' sections:

Oh, NJ Bob, my layout is in HO scale - never did get tempted by all those other sizes...Wink [;)]

I work as a therapist (counselor) at a local agency in our fine town, and am paying off too many student loans (that got me through my Master's program). I figure when I hit 70, I might be able to retire. Wink [;)] I see outpatient clients 4 days a week, and cover walk-in clinic and crisis clients the other day (plus on-calls a couple or three nights/weekend days, handling mental assessments and any needed commitments to hospitals as needed. Prior to this, I had a prof. photo studio (full-time) for 5 of my married years, and also taught elementary and/or middle school art before that (my undergrad degree was in art education). My daughter is married and she and my son-in-law are expecting their first (boy) in April.Big Smile [:D]

PC, good to hear your wife won her case - now to hang in there until they pay her. If your state is like Missouri's setup, once they do pay you, they should pay from when you started the process - didn't you say 2003? Could be a fairly nice sum. You could pay off some bills with that (and maybe have a little LHS trip money left after paying taxes, bills and everything)!

May have to see my Dr. (or a foot/leg doctor) about my feet and left leg. Lately when I walk across my apt. carpet (in stocking feet), it feels like I've stepped on a rock or something. Oooch! Tired of that. Left leg has some numbness, too. But I don't think it's diabetes, 'cause my doctor has checked for that previously when the leg had the numbness (comes and goes). Maybe I should ask you to include my feet and leg in your prayers, folks.

Better get back to my cocoa before it cools off. I'll be reading my MRP 2008 that came in this week.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Ok, My turn...

I'm a Boatswains' Mate First Class Active Duty (E6) in the United States Coast Guard, been in almost 21 years now.  First combat deployment was in 2003 to Kuwait. I'm qualified heavy weather Coxswain and combat level 2 coxswain, boarding officer, pollution investigator, and a few other qualifications. My Grand Father bought me my first model train set 2 months before I was born, it was HO-scale and I've been in the hobby for as long as I can remember.  Currently I'm working on layout #5 and final (I hope).  Modular System, but around the walls, I'm freelanced L.S. & W Railroad (Lee, Samantha, & William my son and daughter), my RR is patterned after the former Lake Shore & Michigan Southern railroad (absorbed by NYC in 1914). I'm divorced (that was my surprise when I came home from Kuwait). Oh and I'm 21 years old (with 20 years experience), just ask my girlfriend who is 35 (again). I was a finishing carpenter then a millwright apprentice prior to joining the Coast Guard.  Jasmine is my best friend; she is a 146# black Labrador.

Tsked tsked AGAIN?!?!?!? One more and I'll be on the Officially Tsked List.

saronaterry- Yeah, about that buy everything deal, well, don't sweat it. I ordered all of that stuff on MY card, and they called and said "No way." So then I mentioned to just put it on YOUR card, and they said "If he's one of YOUR friends, it ain't happnin". So then I said just spread it out on EVERYONE'S cards, and max it to their limit. OK guys, you all must be doing just as well financially as I am, so when you ALL see that extra $1.46 on this months bill, well.......sheesh, I though you guys all had the Long Green! And I ain't talking about the guy that played Ben Cartwright, either!

Foulrift- In my opinion, the very best way to be accepted in this Diner is to step on up and slap that plastic down on the counter and say "Don't worry about it saronaterry, I'LL pay for Phil's 46,000$ model railroad order!!!!" Yep, that sure would be the best way. Yep. Oh well. I tried.

Seriously, these are a great bunch of guys, and gals for that matter, and every once in a while, mostly due to the fact that typed words can be interpreted wrong, someone gets their nose out of joint (or even TSKED!) but the understanding in here runs pretty deep. I've met a few of the members, and they were just as decent and fun as if I had known them for years.

OK, enough of the seriousness- OTOH, Ed, JIMRC, PAULB, cox47, bjdukert, pcarrell, jeffreyw, silverspike, Fergie, LSW, and a few others and they know who I mean- are all LUNATICS on SERIOUS MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCES!!! Why, I myself have heard them mention "mainlines" and "laying tracks" and "spikes". And all of this on a MODEL BOAT website!!! I have even turned them in to the moderator and I have his reply right here.

NOW we'll see who get's TSKED! Let me just read ..... hmmmm, "no boats"....."model trains"....."normal terms used everyday".......uhhhhhhh......hmmmmmm......"tsk, tsk tsk".... ratz.

Is that humble pie in the case tonight?

OK, guess I'd better chime in and tell a bit about me. I'm 53, a fulltime police dispatcher (work midnights)and part time officer on a very small department. It is so small, I bring my puppydog with me to work. She is the "runt" in philnrunt.   I have a huge problem taking anything seriously, so much so that my friends call me the "Jolly Lama", and my wife calls me....well, lets just move on. I got married a few years back to a girl of a scandalous age, she is now, even as I type, talking to her units on the radio, as she is also a dispatcher for a bigger dept. My Grandpa was an engineer on the NYC (Big Four) and he gave me a cab ride when I was 3 and that set the mold. Or started it growing. Due to current living space constraints, I HAVE NO LAYOUT! But that soon should be corrected, and when it is it will be my 7th, (IIRC) HO and an industrial switching line. And I am (seriously) very proud to be a member of this forum, and to be able to count those above named lunatic's as friends.

Whistling [:-^]

Good evening Gang,  Thought I would stop in before hitting the feathers.

Well not much to report except (you'll love this ) with wind chill tomorrow it is supposed to     be -40 in the morning.  This one I win, as I have a day off tomorrow.

PC, So glad to hear the court case went well, but don't count it until it is in your mitt. but I'm sure you will see it before to long if you have already been at it five years.

Dianne, I want the first dance when you feel up to it.  Glad it is coming along for you.

Resume eh!!!!.      Well it goes like this,  I have spent pretty well most of my life on the road. After I went to college in Calgary Aberta  I came home to Saskatchewan and drove transport for my Father for four years and then got a driving job with Greyhound. I settled in there and stayed for 35 years, and 2.5 million miles.  After retiring I wanted to do some long haul trucking for a bit and that amounted to 165,000 miles in 18 months all over North America  and I decided that was enough of that. So I came back home and drove for two charter bus companies for four years until I turned 65.  I decided right then that I had been so fortunate and blessed with safety in all those miles that I had pushed the envelope enough that I would give the Big Guy a rest and not ask to be looked out for on the road any longer.  Staying in my home town now and working as a security guard at an old Government building that is now a museum. Much slower pace and I have found it somewhat difficult to get used to.

I have modelled off and on since I was a kid and my father and I had half the basement in 0-27 gauge when Lionel was the thing. (late 40s-early 50s). Then the regular story, girls cars, sports, etc. Never getting operational again till four years ago. Although I had built a bit of HO rolling stock since 1960.  My layout is 17x13, mainly Western Pacific.  But a fictious Division as my avatar title shows  "Last Mountain and Eastern Div." This is a double deck layout with a helix on the end of a penninsula, four loops down. to staging and classification/interchange one on each side of the room.

Well I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open Zzz [zzz]and having difficulty spelling so I had better quit while I am ahead. I know there were a couple of things I wanted to ask the next time I was on here but can't remember right now. Oh, I did send for the "Chopper" and the magnetic building tray from Micro-mark, so am eagerly awaiting there arrival.Tongue [:P]

Prayers and blessing to all those in need.  Keep your socks dry.Shy [8)]

Good Morning Trackside Diner.........

Glad to see everyone getting in their background information for the job interview process, ya know working in covert operations takes a special kinda person....Shock [:O] Zzz [zzz] Sign - Oops [#oops] .....musta been dreaming or something.....

So, here's my short story..... started an HO layout with my dad back in the early 1970's, it was 2 4X8's with a 2X2 bridge in a C shape and we had a lift up section too. Put the hobby on hold and went to college and started a culinary career and then 20 years later in the arly 1990's started up my 2nd HO layout, then got married with children and put the hobby on hold again. Then in 2002 started up the hobby again. Spent time renovating a room in New Orleans for the new train room and then Hurricane Katrina hit! Put the hobby on hold again, and then moved to Wake Forest, NC, and started up the Piedmont Division in May of 2006 and have been full steam ahead ever since. And I owe a lot of my motivation to the fine gentlemen and a few nice ladies too who frequent this Diner for keeping me in focus and just pumped up in general.

As far as my carrer path goes, I worked in high school for a tree service and landscape maintenance company. Then I did some sub-contractor work as a painter, carpenters helper, electrician, roofer, general renovations stuff for interior and exterior houses in New Orleans. Then went to culinary school and worked at various restaurants, hotels, private dining rooms, country clubs, and fitness centers. And in various roles starting as an apprentice worked my way up to executive chef and ended up as a food and beverage director. After 18 years in the restaurant industry made another career change into computers, or Information Technology (IT). Have been in this career since 2000 and love it, working as a contractor for the US-EPA now in the Research Triangle Park, NC.

So.....I got good news, some of you been asking for recipes and I found both the Six Onion Soup and New Orleans Seafood Chowder in my notebooks. So I will email the respective recipes as soon as I get them transferred from hard copy to digital.... Headphones [{(-_-)}]

Morning Diners - Hi Ryan, I see Bill T.'s brought the donuts in, looking good! Zoe, how about a glass of Ed's OJ,

cup of coffee, one of those chocolate donuts (for dessert),

and some eggs, bacon, and hash browns, please.

Thanks!

Hey, Philnrunt, no matter how many times you're tsk-tsk'ed, you know we love ya (and all your quirky ways...Whistling [:-^])! You want to talk about model boats, you go ahead. Yeah!! [yeah]

Lee, I must have missed it - your Lab is #146 pounds? Guess who walks who if you take him/her out for a walk...?Wink [;)]

Terry, any more signs of Pete the porcupine? I got wondering, how close are the woods to your place? Any other critters ever show up there?

Johnboy, we have got to let you save some of those cool breezes for yourself up there! The temp this a.m. is 21 F in the city, but 19 F (official temp) at the Cape airport (that's -7 C, which sounds even colder to me). At least we're supposed to see the sun for part of today, and warm up (relative term there...) to 41 F this afternoon (6 C). Bad news is, the weather guy this morning said the thermometer will be doing a downhill slide over the weekend. About 15 F (-9 C) by Saturday night. Brrrrrrr! Oh yeah, and Hoople and Sue - the weather guesser here was saying you will be getting snow today/tonight, so better throw some more logs on the fire!

Paul, that granddaughter of yours is growing, isn't she? Give Dianne a hug for us and tell her to kick that blood clot's bCensored [censored]t into itsy bitsy pieces and flush them down the drain.Thumbs Up [tup]

Ryan, I'm going to have to think this morning about whether I want to go with the roulade of beef or the chicken tenders when I get back in for lunch. I do know that I'll want some of the 'SP dessert' (didn't want to say the p-word too loud in case PC's up already...Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^])

Well, back to my breakfast for now, and then the W-thing. But it's FRIDAY!!!

Blessings and a warm place for ya,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Morning all!

Another beautiful, if not chilly, morning in central Indiana!  It's a brisk 18 degrees out there right now, but it just didn't feel that cold when I came in.  Maybe I'm getting used to it?  (That would be a bad thing!)

Not much going on today.  I'm doing the work thing and I'm planning on lunch with a dear old friend.  I haven't seen Dusty in a while, so I'm looking forward to that!

Well, gotta make like I work here!

Later!

Mornin, coffee n couple doughnuts please Zoe.

I told ED I might stop in after he tracked me down 4 doors over. Haven't had much to talk about that was on the good side of things. #2 son n his wife are spitting up, so he's staying here some. #3 SIL found out, he's getting transferred to Terre Haute In now, 5 months after buying a house in Girard IL [a 3 hour drive apart]. #2 and 3 DIL's have had both their work hours cut back, and the company Mother works for are talking cutbacks too.

On the good side, with the DIL's getting fewer hours, I've had less baby-sitting duty and since the weathers not been so great outside, I have gotten more playtime on the layout. Got most the fiddle yard laid out and the sidings are going in.

Have been hearing some good things in here though,

PAUL , sure glad the baby's doing so well and your DIL didn't have a blood clot

PC,, good to hear your wife's doing well now after surgery and the disability pay may be coming in soon. It was almost 4 years till I got my first check after applying.

We've been keeping ya'll in our thoughts, even the healthy ones.

Most every one is making progress on their RR and there been some really good pics posted, thanks.

WELCOME to all the newbe's n hope ya keep coming back. Don't worry bout chiming in, it took me awhile to gets comfortable when I first stopped in.

Best get back ta chores, if I want any playtime. Hope ya'll has a gooden, stay safe n warm with this cold spell coming in

Good morning,

Does anybody have a good link for window images?   Looking for images I can scale and install in my layouts window fronts.

Today: A chance of snow showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Breezy, with a west wind between 18 and 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Tonight: Scattered snow showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind between 15 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Rail traffic around here has really increased to the point I typically get stopped by 3 trains on the way to the gas station.   The top 3 are containers, auto racks, and corn syrup.  Makes me wonder who is buying all these cars and candy bars!

Morning all, I'll have a hot cocoa, Zoe.  After the two inches of snow last night it will taste good.

Okay, I'll get in on the short bio, even if I haven't posted much lately.  I'm 55 years old. Work processing medical evidence for (ahem, cough, cough) social security disability claims.  I'm currently working on the XPRR (experimental railroad) a 7 X 15 layout in the basement just to get some experience. My dream layout will be in the detached two car garage train room in the back yard.  I'm planning an HO/HOn3 fictional layout loosely based on the East Broad Top.  I've also met some of the folks here in person, like Duke up there above this post, and they're a great bunch of folks here.

Don't worry PC, I won't take anything personally about SSA disability.  The system does need some tweaking.  We sometimes have to deny claims we feel should be approved and allow claims we feel should be denied.  The ALJs (administrative law judges) that do the appeals also take their own sweet time with hearings and decisions.

Well, break time is over.  Thank goodness I'm on two weeks vacation after today.  Maybe I can stop in more often.

Morning everyone. Sorry I didn't get the chance to get back to the diner but after diner I took the opportunity to work on a couple of RR(HO) projects and then went to bed early.

Duke-Ed-Jim et all.I'm feeling much better about myself and being with a great bunch of people.I'll admit I do venture into the other room once in a while and have gotten some good tips and help from some helpful people but I would still rather be here.

Ryan-thanks for the offer of a meal on you.If the offer is still open then I.ll order later.

The current layout that I am planning will be my fourth. It is an industrial switching layout loosly based on Progressive Rails AirLake Industrial Park.  I did not use their trackplan but developed my own.I will post the plan for you. It features 3 industries,a team track, freight car cleanout track,2 track yard,a runaround and a switchback.

My first layout was a standard 4x8 and it was a learning experience. The next one came out a little better but I didn't make good use of the available space for industries etc.

#3 was a total bust.I was trying to do a small switching layout but it didn't do what I wanted it to do.

#4 as I mentioned above took a while to finalize the design. I used XTrakCad to design it and with the help of a friend got the plan done. I am also planning on having a highway overpass as a viewblock and to add interest with track, roads and an industry under it.

You will notice an empty space on the righ side. When I first palnned  this it was going to be 2'x7'. I later learned that I could fit a 2'x8' in my room so I changed the layout size in the program. What I am planning on doing(and I already did this on paper) is to center the layout on the 8' that will extend the switchback, yards and inbound/outbound tracks.

Anyway that's where I stand with my layout.

I spent so much time talking I forgot to order breakfast,so I'll have pankcakes w/sausage and coffee-Thanks-

BTW-I'm on the top page so order up-It's on me today.

Good Morning

Oatmeal and manderine OJ please. Again saving room for Ryan's menu later in the day.

We were with relatives in Nashville yesterday.

Paul says "I guess it may be time for us old hands to give a resume again"

Accordingly, I suppose you can blame Paul that I am posting the following:

I've been a lot of places and done a bunch of things. Born during WWII in Texas, I have resided in eight states.  Trains and model trains have taken up much of my time over the years. My own "model railroad museum" includes the remains of a live steamer built by my granddad in the 1920's. My dad was an active live steam model railroader, too. In my early years, our family traveled extensively by train throughout the USA. Some of the trains we rode were the PRR Broadway Limited, The B&O Capital Limited, IC's City of Miami, Santa Fe Super Chief, SP  Daylights, Burlington Zephyrs, and MILW Hiawathas. There were others. From ages 5 thru 18, I lived very close to CB&Q's mainline into Chicago. In the first Chirstmas there, we rode a Burlington suburban train (steam loco) to downtown Chicago to see Santa Clause in Marshal Fields. We saw the Toy Department before Santa Claus, and they had a really neat Lionel Trains display. I asked Santa for one of those train, and that's what showed up under the Christmas tree that year. I've owned toy and/or model trains ever since. My oldest HO locomotive is one My Dad brought to me from one of his business trips to Japan. It's a Tenshodo NYC 4-6-4 that I restored about five years ago. The Hudson is over 50 years old. The design of my present layout reflects the fact that I haved moved so many times. The HO layout is being built in sections that could be moved.

My career had its share of adventures. As teenagers, my best friend and I earned a lot of money for model trains with our own lawn mowing business in suburban Chicago. Later I worked selling auto parts with a retailer. Next, I supervised an advertising agency's mail room. Then, I became a city transit bus driver. While working as full time driver, I was also a full time college student studying business. I ended up with both a BBA and an MBA. Work experiences included marketing, economics, accounting, and finance, and that involved computers and other business machines, transportation, manufacturing, and consulting.   Much of that was with a railroad company. Shelley and I are retired and we reside on a large man-made lake in Kentucky. We have five adult children with spouses and there are (so far) four grandchildren.

Happy Model Railroading

Sooooooo!  It was YOU!!!!!

Just kidding........I know you guys have a tough job.  It's just hard to see folks that are deserving have to work so hard to get their benefits that they paid into for years on end.  This time it hits close to home, so it's a sore spot.
