Lee: Hope it's a good one. Don't recall the 40's especially (and there is quite a lot of the 1940s I'd rather not remember either [clown]) Certainly life doesn't come to a grinding halt at 40something, unless you want it too, it seems to me.[2cents]
On the knockouts, here's a couple Isaved from the electrical box from Rosie-the-dog's house wiring recently. They are screw hole knockouts. Don't know quite what they're good for except model junk, or maybe roof vents. In Normal Scale they are about 30" across.

I'm truly sorry to learn Mrs. PC's appointment did not go well. Total bed rest over the Christmas holidays is not good either. Mrs. PC is fortunate, however, to have her devoted husband to help her through this. Blessings to your family.

Lee ........ Happy Birthday.
Corey .......... Model RR'ing can be inexpensive, too. Freight cars, in particular can be really cheap when used. Fixing up junkers can be fun, too. Last year I bout some Athearn Geeps with dual flywheel drive for $10.00/each. They were decorated for a private road, but repainting was fun.
Der John..... yesterday you said you went to Canada in 1967. Where are you from?
Happy Model railroading

My wife makes good money, just not enough to bail out my store. I have a new job lined up making between 35 and 40 thousand a year to start. We have had to learn to live cheap the past two years. I haven't taken home a paycheck in over a year. With the new living configuration, I'm figuring we can save between two and three thousand a month. That gives me two years to save around fifty thousand dollars. This may actually be on the low side, but I don't want to be too ambitious. I already negotiated track-age rights to the second bedroom in the apartment. I have to share it with the computer and a couch, but at least it's something. By going broke, we'll actually come out way ahead. I just have to get through the process. On a modeling note, I can't wait to be able to plan for larger steamers. I'm truly fascinated by the war years and the fifties. I'm thinking a troop train will have to be in the cards. Anyway, thanks again.

Hi Gang: Just a quick one for me, Cloe. I'm about to get on with looking for a Medicare Supplimental plan. I thik that this is the worst part of getting old. I'd like to find a plan that includes part D. So far the AARP part D looks good I need to find out if they can include it with a supplimental. We want to get a PPO not a HMO also.
Lee . I hope that you enjoy it.
PC: I'm sorry to hear about Mrs. PCs problems. I thought everything was going well. Here's hopping that she gets better soon on the bed rest.
Well I guess I'd better get to work. The boss just looked over my shoulder.
See you all later
Happy Birthday Lee!
Well gang this is the bright and sunny outdoors I see as I look out my front window in northeastern Indiana this afternoon. What do you think guys, maybe put a "G" scale layout around the tree, and make the neighborhood look a bit more cheerful!!!
Well back downstairs and work on the Pennsy!

in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thanks. And some cheese enchiladas with rice & beans. May as well clog up my arteries with something yummy.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEE!" Go do everything you have wanted to do but haven't (providing you still can), after all you can use your birthday as an excuse.
Yesterday was hay day, today was water day, which took forever using gravity feed. Still, way better than using our well water. Wife is feeling a little better and is halfway through her antibiotics now and done with those other meds. Not much else to report on, just a beautiful sunny day here in the 70s. Sorry for those getting hit with all that ice and cold, especially those who are without power.

Good afternoon Crew,
Chloe, I would like your best New England clam Chowder in a big bowl and lots of crackers please, Cranberry juice on the side.

I was caught in 1988 in Ontario and Quebec during that ice storm. Was trying to put on a load on a steel flat deck in Lindsay, Ont. Had to keep spreading ice melt on the deck so I could stand up but the rain just kept washing it off and then freezing the deck again. Couldn't move the truck in the staging yard as you have NO control over it . It would just go in whatever direction it wanted. Was sure glad to get out of there a day later. But then saw all the broken trees and power lines, boy what a mess.
All of you that have had difficulties lately, be it health, family or finances. I pray that 2008 will shine brightly upon you and that these items you have been dealing with will only be a slight memory.
Got to get to work as my "HONEY-DO LIST" is getting mighty long.. RR is going to have to wait for a few hours anyway.

Afternoon Gang: I just got off the phone with AARP. I guess we will go with their plans for Medicare Supplimental and Plan D. With that decision made I'm feel much better. We can still are going to look around until we get the paper work but this seems good. The best part was talking to someone and getting answeres even if they hirt a little bit.
It sounds like it's raining. Hold on while I take a look.___________ Well Mary Ann just came in and said it's raining and that's what I saw, soooo I guess it's raining. We're both hungry and we need to get the mail so I'll see you all later.
Good evening all,
Rain, rain, and more rain here with a dash of fog. Tomorrow: Rain, rain, and then rain high of 35F. Well I cut four 4' x 4' plywood tops for my modular and laid the curves out for the two main lines and the one local track. I cut two 3' x 4' plywood tops and framed one of them. After a 5" easement from the front and 2.5" on centers I have almost 25" from the easement of the inner most track to the back drop. For stuff! I'm still painting the first set of store fronts for Fox Creek.
Other than that I was lazy all day. Thanks for all the B-day wishes.

Good evening...
Lee was kind enough to post his "birthday math" and I saw Ryan picked up on it. However, I would like to know of anyone who has worked subtraction into the equation.
Paul .... Did the email get there? If not try a PM here.
Not much done on the layout today. If finally corrected a track alignment problem. Now my nit-picky NP 4-8-4 won't derail on the track in question. No slow orders now.
Happy model railroading.
Garry, if you subtract then you're cheating . Now when I celebrate my 49th birthday It will be the 30th anniversary of my 19th birthday, or I can say I'm 19 with 30 years experience.
Hi all. One IBC root beer, please.
Thank you all for your kind words with my car accident and advice on how to post here. I was able to get the Saab to a shop to get the radiator replaced without it overheating (today was one of the few times I was thankful it was FREEZING outside!). Hopefully, the mechanic can fix it tomorrow despite the twisted sheetmetal. At this point, I don't care if he Mickey-Mouses it, as long as it runs without overheating. I'll still need to get a new left headlight assembly to make it (somewhat) roadworthy. If I can figure out how to get my camera phone to work, I'll post a picture of the damage.
PC, I hope your wife pulls through and feels better soon!
Lee,
We missed the ice last night, stayed rain. Tonight, we are under another watch, but it doesn't sound like it will have a chance to get too bad before morning.
Eeyore- Your '71 Monte story brings back memories. Things that seem so bad at the time sure are fun to look back on. I had a '73 IH Scout II, the distributor was mounted right behind the fan, it drowned out in a heavy dew. At the time, it was my cross to bear, but looking back now, it sure provided lots of stories! Good times.
pcarrell- Thought I recognized that stretch of track. As I was looking at the pics, we got a fight in progress call, so I only got to see the third pic as I was logging off. Thought it was an F, probably need to go back and look again, but it seems we are going to be busy tonight, too.
Evening Folks!
Interesting day a little bit. Dawn & I hit the LHS & the craft store today for supplies. After we had gotten home, Dawn got a call from a co-worker, who had found a dalmatian puppy out in the street. Since her co-worker couldn't keep the dog overnight due to another dog in the household, we are now the temp. foster home for it until tomorrow when we notify our animal control officer. It is very well behaved (gets along well with our 2 dogs) & appears to be lost instead of abandoned. (leather collar but no tags) Our local animal officer is a "dog" person & very good at her job, so we have high hopes she can find the owner.
Lee-Happy B-day-3 more wks until the magic "42" for me
Phil-yeah an incident like that is funny to look back on now, but I hated that car. I bought it as a winter beater to keep my '70 Coronet out of the snow. Only thing I liked about it was it had the factory console floor shift. I bought the car for $300, kept it a year & a half, & turned around & sold it for $600 to a buddy's girlfriend (even after telling her every single thing that was wrong with the car!) She wasn't the brightest star in the sky, but she wanted the car badly, was willing to pay what I was asking, & I'm honest. (car didn't last her a year before it broke down. She abandoned it on a city street & it was hauled away) OTOH, My other bud had a '76 Scout II & his was one dependable vehicle! Was dark blue & then he decided to paint it Top Banana Yellow! Only thing I didn't like if anything, was the way it bounced so much taking off in 1st gear! (airsickness bag was needed sometimes) I could probably write a book on some of the vehicles we had (I won't) & some of the names we gave them-The Psychedelic Dodge, The Screaming Woodpecker, Team Malibu, The Pinto Bean, sheez! But the memories ARE golden though!
Didn't get much done at the workbench today except doing more stripping on the C&C car. Hopefully make up for tomorrow!
Nite all!
