Jeff, I think now that you have grass and ballast down it looks much better. That weird plaster-ish stuff just didn't look right.

Oh and, is your ballast really that color or is it the camera?

That's due to the camera. The ballast is a light brownish gray.

What someone had posted alink to my website with many many pictures that you can critique away at.  My photography I never claimed to be the best but it aint that bad!  Here is a whole load of photos of my layout that you may critique, compliment, on as you wish.  Its does not bother me either way.

Great stuff everyone... As for the other threads... I dunno where some people get off...

This has been a terribly busy weekend, but much good will come of it, I was setting up the time and expense module for my business in MS Excel, and writing procedures and developing new client packets... I did take time though to design some stuff on cafe press, totally related to my railroad if anyone wants to check it out... its at http://www.cafepress.com/pbjrailroad

I am not advertising, nor soliciting, I just discovered their site and thought it would be cool to put my railroad logo on a shirt for my pregnant wife.

NICE PHOTO! I especially like the car accident scene. The derailment scene could use some work though...

...and cut the bad language and most of use could accept you as a regular forumgoing MRRer.

See ya!

I also thought Geeps layout were pretty good. I would much rather see the pics here than wade through all the critizing and foul language.

Please Geep, don't use that kind of language here, there are women and children that read this.     Mike

Cool Geep Unit! It's very realistic! That derailment looked painful!!!!

I agree, if you just kept your nasty comments to yourself, then I personally would welcome you as a regular poster and contributer to the fourums.

I'm going to add my two cents into this problem:

STOP PUTTING LOGS ON THE FIRE, PEOPLE.

Just because Geep Unit is pissing everyone off with his negative comments doesn't mean that we have to keep trying to get one up on him with a counter bad remark.  Two negatives don't make a positive.  Let's all just keep on going with posting pictures of our weekend.

Geep Unit,

I like your work.  Your layout shows that you have a good imagination.  That is something that this hobby needs, but we can't go after people that don't.  What if Jeffrey was a young boy trying his best, would you still "come at him alike a Spider Monkey" (name that movie)?  Maybe Jeff is at the point that would equal where we or you or I were at one point in this hobby.  I can remember my first layout.  It was crap.  My first digital camera, it was crap too.

You guys need to get along or this forum is going to around much longer.  I'm not sure if some of you can handle that.

Just my thoughts

He has been a poster here before and it has always deteriorated to what we've seen this weekend. It's too bad because he's a good modeler and I like most of his work (although that fire engine needs some looking after). Another poster had it pegged, I think - manic depressive syndrome maybe with an overlay of tourette's.

There finally just cause your layout looks that good doesnt give you reason to bash others I will say I like it I like it a lot but as I said it doesnt give you the right to be negative about others. These forums were made for helping others and just sharing our information etc. Your sharing was more knocking and making many modelers unhappy. unfortunately I have nothing new to show or anything to prove I like what I have done, what I hav accomplished and continue to do. Show what I have done when I get back to working on the layout. I'm sure I will take blows about what someone dont like but I take kindly to friendly none vulgar critizm than someone telling me it sucks S*** etc. If you dont want to look at pictures cause they arent up to your standards just scroll past them.

I have been away all weekend and come back home for a look at the forum and I see we are in melt down mode?  Al, as always I enjoy your layout pictures.  Too bad you can't be a regular contributing member as your talent for modelling would be a valuable addition to the forum.

Not a whole lot going on my layout this week, except this little scene which seems appropriate considering what is going on here.

Two points about this garbage that used to be Weekend Photo Fun:

1.  The hobby is model railroading, not photography.  Not everyone can or wants to do professional-grade photography.  We're here for model trains.

2.  If you don't like the photo, drive on.  Look at the ones you do like.  No one is obliged by law to comment on all photos.  If there's a show on TV you don't like, you don't watch it.  Same here.

Enough said.

Simon, I didn't realize until I visited your web site that the ballroom is a building flat. That is one of the nicest jobs of making a flat NOT look like a flat I've ever seen. That sign just makes the whole building. How did you make it and what do you use to light it?

You're right, it seems like a shootout is appropriate for this weekend. Smile [:)]

That's a good job on the pines. Mine always come out looking bad. Having shaky hands doesn't help.

Just got to love a shot with the Pioneer Zephyr in it.  I have been meaning to take some shots of mine on the layout.  Have you gone the DCC route with yours?

Thanks Jim, I am rather proud of that structure.  One of my very first pure scratch built efforts.

Here is the inside.

The sign is a photo of the actual sign shot as close to straight on as I could manage.  It is glued to styrene sheet.  White LED's are used as the back-light and the individual bulbs are made from fiber optic thread poked through holes I drilled in the sign.  It took forever, but I think worked quite well.

Right in the middle of Trains and Locomotives I got a PM asking, "I am a little confused as to who is the fool, you or Geep Unit?" Well, I figure that if people are having trouble telling who is who then it is time for me to vacate this topic and proceed to other fields of endeavor and leave others to stand in judgement of Geep Unit's out of focus photographs taken with his hot smokin' $75.00 ebay special autofocus camera which obviously is having extreme difficulty autofocusing.

The question that should be asked is "what does this have to do with model railroading or trains?"  I'm with GEEP UNIT on this one.  Who cares what you drive?  I don't see anyone else posting pics of what they drive.

Jeff, for the life of me I don't get it.  For the past two weekends you've had 2, maybe 1, people be highly critical of both the quality of the images and the excessive posting that you do and yet you go ahead and post a pic of something completely off topic.  Maybe if you cut back for a weekend some of the heat would die off?  Instead you (purposely?) feed the flames and invite more criticism.  This one is of your own making!

I'll bite and probably beat GP Unit to this.  You have a car equipped with emergency lights and stickers.  What gives?  I thought you had a disability (bad back), poor vision, partial color blindness and by your own admission, shaky hands.  How does someone in your condition have a job as an emergency services worker?  I'm sorry, but you're not my first choice to have come and rescue me from a burning building, chase down a robber or give me emergency medical care.

Al. Up to this point I haven't said anything about the quality of your photos. I have nothing bad to say about them. I'm not going to critique them either. I'm not a photographer and don't claim to be. I'll say this for them. They're quite good, better than what I'm capable of at this point in time with the antiquated equipment I have. I would like to be able to take pics like those, but with a 1.3 megapixel VGA camera, it ain't gonna happen. Now do me a favor and quit bashing me.
