Back in January I was at a train show in West Springfield Mass. and saw this group of young people. They were controlling trains with Aristo Craft wireless. The outer loops was double headed. The young engineers were doing a great job. The inner loop, Thomas trains. HO scale. The president of the Mass. chapter is in the Bachmann groups.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Wow....old photos....
I'm almost 14, I guess that would be sort of the same generation. I don't handlay my track, in fact I use Code 100 Atlas track, that's probably the farthest you can get from handlayed without getting into trainset stuff.
Oh, and I've got a few movies up on Youtube too, in case you feel like watching.

Rich - that is the same club Alex (Guilford Guy) is a part of, I think he's the president actually.
Well, I'm probably going to miss my local MR club's open house. The guys who make the schedule at work are retards. (I specifically asked for the 20th off, I marked saturday because that's what a report next to the off-day sheet said. So they give me Saturday. The question is why do I work at a place where the manager never thinks to ask what day I wanted off, or where they don't even know the day of the month?).
The manager that will be working sunday said she'll try to let me off early. ALso the guys at the MR club said that some of them would stay a little late so I could run around the module layout.
One thing I never figured out with some of my locos: when I program my GP30s or GP9s together, they make a lot of noise. However it's only present at low speeds with out a load. Once I get a good train on them, they run fine. What's up with that?
Note to all: Just be careful when talking to me or Sawyer. Our screen names are pretty similar. Yes, I too am a Packer's fan. I haven't released my real name yet.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Yes, the two Packers fans. Just remember the #1, and we won't have problems.

SHUN THE NON BELIEVE SHUN!!!! NO FRIENDS, NO FRIENDS!!!!
Ozark, looks nice!
Packers#1, nice work1 Your layout is comming along nicely.
BTW: If any one wants to model an abonded spur, you can model the ties where the switch was. Like this.
That went to Steward island. Not to long ago they tore up this line. The line to the CNW is a bike path, and the bridge to Steward Island is now a walk way bridge.

That looks like the YMR table (Youth in Model railroading)
Also I think Guilford Guy is the prez. Is that who you are talking about?
EDIT: I just noticed that you have a YMR link there... oops!
Alex
Well I dragged my Diorama out side today. It still needs alot more work. Such as a grade crossing, line side poles, grass, ect. My camera messed up the exposure and made it super bright.
Looks good.
BTW what exactly is the purpose of this thread? is there anything specific we talk about, or is it more like Eliots Trackside diner?
here's some pics I took while out railfanning.
Enjoy!

Cool photos, I love that WC unit!
Ty- Thanks for explaining. guess my hunch was correct.
any one know if some industrial smoke stacks were made from materials other then brick?
Whats up guys,
Im Keith, pushing 16 years old. Im on a 2x4 in n scale along with a 4x7 in n scale. My main focus is Norfolk Southern, however i am a huge fan of the Guilford Rail Systems.
Ill be interested to see what thos post leads to.
Keith
Welcome Keith! Got any photos of your layout (if any) so far? Always good to have another member here!
Ozark; I know some are made of concrete, if that helps.
Hey,
I'm Duncan from small town Maxville, not far from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I model the Canadian Pacific during the late 70's. My current layout (3x12) is a freelanced historical brach line of the CP. The real branchline I model was called the Glengarry and Stormont railway, and connected the booming city of Cornwall (Ontario) to the St-Polycarp Junc. (Quebec). This line was abondoned in 1995. In my version of history however, the line expanded sometime in the 50's/60's and a second mainline was established to connect Montreal and Toronto (the original line is located further north). Unfortunatly I can not extensivly model the entire line, so my current layout depicts a much expanded railyard at Willamstown (Ontario). Industries I model include a large Co-op (grain elevator, fertilizer warehouse and feed mill), and a gravel quarry. I also model passenger service, with trains stopping regularly at the station at the edge of town. I am currently working on the scenery.
In short this was who I am and what I do.

Thanks For The compliment Ozark and Tyler.
TMRP is basically a branch off/Subsidiary of TRP. Both threads I participate frequently with.

I agree totally. I need to dig out through my archives, but I may have a picture of the stack at the Power plant here in town.
Welcome Keith and Duncan. I can't wait to see photo from both of you.
Duncan, Sounds interesting. I like the freelanced branch lines and short lines. Something about them....lol.
Hope this Helps. There pretty crappy, but what can you do when you in a car?
Here's a crappy close up that shows you what there really made of.
WC- That's just what I need. Thanks!
nothing new from me today. I'll stop by later.
Heyy everyone! Thanks for the nice welcome. Its nice to have some other teens around here.
I do have some photos of both my layouts. Ill start with my 4x7
This first photo of my 4x7 was taken when it was almost completed. As you can see, i used no foam at all on this layout and im highly regretting that. I never did get the scenery right on this layout, as youll see in following pictures.
This photo is of me in 7th grade, running the layout for the first time with my Southern SD24.
Now ill move on to my 2x4. I am very happy with the progress i have made on this layout, and i cannot wait to see it in its final stages. I have just recently poured 2 ponds on my 2x4, and that is what the first 2 photos will be of.
This first photo is sort of fuzzy, because i captured it with my cell phone. The bridge is just an atlas code 80 plate girder, with the code 80 removed and code 55 flex replaced it.
This next photo is actually not a finished scene at all. There is a log upon shore, which i plan to add a fisherman sitting on that log, as i am an avid fisherman myself. I like to represent myself and people who mean most to me on my layouts in as many ways as i can.
This next photo is of my GP38 high nose norfolk southern, hauling a grain train. One of my favorite engines actually, is this one here.
This last photo is taken on the same bridge. This is my sd26 Springfield Terminal #614.
Ill be out and about around town today, but ill be back on tonight. Cya guys soon.
Well, heres a few pics of my stuff:
This is an over-view of my final track arrangement. The track on the grade will loop back around, continually climbing, and will then cross along the back edge of the layout to the planned extension that will be on the right. The flextrack is ME code 70. The turnouts are Shinohara code 70. They're just in place for arrangement purposes. I'm still on the fence about using #8's (whats pictured) vs. #6's. I'm going to be using code 55 for all the spurs and curved turnouts, as well as the turnout at the very bottom of the page leading to the actual curved turnout. I'm using some old atlas flextrack to 'simulate' a curved turnout much as you would when making a rubbing of track to use as a rail-position template for handlaying/scratchbuilding custom turnout sizes.
Heres a picture of my first scratchbuilt turnout. This is a BK Enterprises #5 point/frog assembly spiked onto weathered ME turnout ties, built over a Central Valley template. Will be back with better pictures when its finished.

another picture:
and last, but not least, why we all love ebay:
These are on my 'test' diorama that i'm working on to get my scenery stuff down before i get to the actual layout scenery (once class ends). The track is ME code 70 rail on Central Valley mainline (background) and branchline (foreground) tie-strips, spiked with ME micro spikes. This is what got me hooked on handlaying... looking at track that YOU actually layed is quite rewarding. The V&O hopper WAS built by none other than W. Allen McClelland. I'm not sure about the history of the AM hopper. These were used on a club layout somewhere in Illinois I think. I should actually find out....
Feel free to ask me some questions or ask for more photos. I remember being your guys' age and having a thousand questions (not that thats changed.....) haha
Looking good Keith. My first layout I started with no foam, and I'm still feeling the repercussions.
Nice work Greg. Can't wait to see some scenery.
Athearn released more road names. They finally released there first ATSF FP45 "Super Fleet" Scheme, but in the blue bonnet. I need one it the War Bonnet. Hopefully in a few months. Also they released 4 more road names for there SD45s. I would buy another ATSF SD45, but I'll wait till the next run of SD45s. I hope they release a WC one. But I'm pretty sure that won't be until 2 more or even 3 more runs. I'm pretty sure the next names will be BN, GN Big Sky Blue, CR, MRL or NYSQ.
SD60M, a BN F45 is now on Athearn's Genesis line.
Duncan!
Do you have any donuts? sorry, couldn't resist. I am hungry, though!!!
Here's an older pic:
Stupid question but...
Can you use real water for a water scene? If so would model ships float on them (I think you could put some sort of flotation device on them).
I suppose you could use real water. I think it has been done before. But then you need to make you lake/river water tight. Another big issue is stagnant water; it smells HORRIABLE.
