jefelectric wrote:I just have to let everyone know that I got my York badge in the mail today.
Brent, I don't know the answer, but why not call and ask them. Remember the TCA membership application goes the the National Headquarters in Strasburg, PA. The badges for York are issued by the Eastern Division in VA. Once you have a member number from TCA you can order a badge using the online PDF form from Eastern Division.
Here is the link. Phone number is on the site.

The other way to do it is to just go to York and join there and get a badge. The downside to this is there may be a little wait in line involved.
If you have never been there you can also go as someones guest. Can only do this one time.
Clear
Brent,
You should...I think you can download the application for York from the Eastern Division TCA site. Mail it as soon as you get your membership card. Don't forget to include a self-addressed stamped return envelope, so they can mail your badge back to you.

Tired today. Started my day by getting splashed in the eye with blood. Not a fun beginning. Spoke to a friend in the Army, he recently got back from Iraq, but will be heading back later this month. Hard when folks have young children and have to be gone for months, or even better than a year at a time. Big sacrifice our troops pay for our freedoms.
Lisa, I think we need to hold down the fort while Chief makes his way into hostile territory.
CSX, so you like Chinese food ha! When I was over in China for our daughter, I had dinner with the governor of the province. He passes this plate for me to try and mind you, we had NO cold drinks, only room temp water/soda. I start to eat this substance that turned out to be a plate full of those little purple peppers. I think I was very close to the pearly gates after that one. It is funny, everywhere you go, the meat still has its head on. You order Chicken, you guessed it, head and all. I understand this is so you know what you are having.
I emailed Allan about this, but does anyone have a K-Line Porter and know how to get the drive rods back in sinc? I had one come apart and now it binds up. I am sure it is the rods.
Thanks,dennis

WOW JOHN,

Way to go I'll be waiting for mine.

When did Virginia become hostile territory for the Chief? For me, yes, but the Chief!?
Next week, I head to the Banks of the Wabash in famed Hoosierland. May get a chance to go past grandparents old house where I got my first Marx Train.

Dennis -
The Chief is safe - he's well below enemy territory. I think it's me & you who are at risk of being over run! Do ya think the 2 of us can handle it?
Hope that pt. is "clean"! Several years ago I had an a***%!^ surgeon spray me with a syringe full of blood while I was assisting him with a central line insertion. Was wearing a mask but no goggles - never needed them before. Luckily, all turned out OK for me - HE got in a LOT of trouble for that one. The chief of surgery LOVED his IV nurses and he really got ticked off.
Prayers for all those in the path of bad weather. Some tornado warnings posted not far from me and we're under a flood watch.
Have a safe night all!
Lisa
Edit: Dennis - just checked the radar - looks like your area has some warnings out - Keep watch!
It's enough storm for me. With the rain that we got today, and the melting of the snow, my sump pump is running every 8 seconds! Its a 7000 GPA pump (the biggest I could find). I have some definate grading issues in my back yard. I get the neighbors water, the water from the park, and of course, my water. I have a river of water going down both sides of my house, my back yard is flooded, and all I can do is hope that my pump keeps up. I also have a backup pump running off of a 2000 watt power inverter and 6 huge batteries, but capacity will be my enemy, not run time. Im going to give Dominion Homes a call tomorrow and see what they will do about it, then the city. If I can just make it through tonight. There is so much water coming in my sump right now. 2 3" PVC pipes with water just thrusting into the pit!
It is supposed to stop raining at midnight. If it floods, there goes the trains!

0900GMT in a bright sunny Stockport, frosty last night, gritters were out again. Sorry for the Red Necks and so sad to hear of your really violent weather systems and the loss of life. Saw a programme the other night, it baffles me how the wealthiest nation on the planet has vast areas devastated by Katrina virtually as it left with people still lacking life's essentials.
Just reloaded TrainSim & Trainz along with some of the many downloads and upgrades that have been released over the last several weeks, takes as much keeping up with as this forum, good clean fun! But hectic.

Good morning from Gettysburg. Currently 43. Over an inch of rain since midnight. Looking at the radar, it seems the worst has passed us for a while. Long night at work tonight, as we celebrate Dr. Suess' Birthday and Read Across America with Bedtime Story Night. Hundreds of kiddos and thier parents in their PJ's with their blankets and stuffed animals. Gotta go to the library today and pull some of my favorites to read. It will be lots of fun.
Take care,
Good morning from a rainy New England!
We didn't get nearly the snow we were expecting. It changed over to rain.
We ran our postwar Hudson last night for a good, long time. Love it. I should be hearing from ol' Doctor Tinker soon about my 2055.
I've got 3 Lionel hopper cars waiting for coal loads this weekend. Then Jumijo is going to see a coal drag!
I lost out on a basket case 736 last night on eBay. I thought my bid of $87 was very high for it, but it sold for a whopping $126! I wanted it to restore and to learn rebuilding skills. See below:

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 40 degrees. Going up to 56 today. Maybe some rain later tonite. All the snow has melted. I hope it stays that way.
Today, I have a few chores to do and clean up, some more in the train room. Getting my materials together to start some scenery work. I want to get my town back out of boxes and set it up. Trolley will look good running thru town. Need to oil a " squeeker " in the freight train. So, I will be busy most of today.
Dining Car just rolled in. Time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Friday.
Chuck
John and Mitch,Thanks for the info. Mitch haven't received the envelop yet (only been one mailing day so will probably be here tomorrow). Going to Pittsburgh today for mother's b-day tomorrow. Wife isn't much fun this time of month so good time to skiddaddle!Fife,The Chessie F3s are waiting for their invitation!Rainy here this morning... ground looks like an over saturated sponge... not testing as I don't want to end up in Northern Maryland Quickmud, it really isn't that bad as there is only 6 inches of topsoil, but once you hit the limestone strata layer your legs get kind of knicked up...Service Engine Soon light came on in the car this morning... If I have to buy a fuel filler cap and that solves it I'm gonna be ticked... explain to my why I have to service my engine when the fuel filler cap (which is at the other end of the car) goes bad? That is like Microsoft's General Protection Fault 'This application has performed an illegal function call. If this problem persists, please contact the vendor!' Funny thing is I only get this error with MICROSOFT's products!!! Brent
It poured and blew here with a vengence last night. Started pumping the water off of the swimming pool cover this morning and it is about a foot deep. After it gets light I guess I better go see how much, hopefully none, damage was done to the lawn with the run off. The front yard was a lake last night from what I could make out with the lightning flashes.
Dennis, hope the patient was a "clean" one. Over the years the wife, X-ray tech., and DIL, nurse, have both had incidents when in ER though never in the eye. If you and Lisa need any back-up give a yell, though 2 south'ners are worth a gaggle of yanks.
Next week'll be a long one for me, the boss is heading to CO for the TCA convention Thursday and I'm left watching the store opening to closing till he returns. I'll get to meet the Lionel rep. this coming week. If I get anything new news I'll let y'all know.
Good morning all,
It is back to being cold and cloudy with a chance of rain/snow later on in the day and the temps remaining in the 30s in SE Indiana. Jerry, welcome to the "coffeepot". This is a great group of guys and gals who talk about grits, Corvairs, and on occasion, trains. I will help write a recommendation for anyone on the forum who wants to be editor. I have thought about applying myself from time to time when a position was open. Of course, my history with snowblowers may disqualify me from any consideration!?!?! I see where the dining car pulled into "Points East" very early this morning. No wonder I am hungry. Not much going on last night as Lucas was at a church meeting. He did get his prom tickets yesterday. That is coming up pretty soon. It is good to see Buckeye posting in his normal fashion again. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Blueberry, the Chief is supposed to meet up with some yanks for dinner in the near future. We are keeping vigil in case they try to kidnap him and bring him into the heart of yankeeland.
Roger and Lisa, we are well, thanks for the thoughts. It did get quite windy and we have some limbs down, but no other damage. The hospital just up the road was hit and they lost a few folks. I think they will transfer the rest of the patients to other area hospitals. This may limit our beds and cases. As for the blood, all the labs were drawn yesterday and we should have the results today.
I have to get ready to head into work. Watching the kids right now and watching "Thomas". I really enjoy the time with the kids when they are just playing well together. Right now, my daughter is changing into another dress, this one is a "snow white", and she is wearing a tierra. I think she is going to be impossible when she grows up as she already thinks she is a princess!
May y'all have a good day,
Dennis
PS: John Bakeer, We may be the "richest country" but there is plenty of corruption to go around. Pre Katrina, the local politicians took the money that was supposed to go and build the levies correctly to use for their own purposes. They Army Corps of Engineers have warned them for a LONG time and they continued to misuse the money. Then the incompotent mayor had all the school buses and methods to evacuate the city at his disposal and they stayed parked. To top it off, they then go and blame everyone else. Plenty of blame to go around. You didn't see this kind of reaction when Andrew hit south Florida.

That will work, Laz, but the light will be on all the time, regardless of direction. Is that prototypical? Do you care? Directional lighting is connected to an e-unit board.
Good morning from beautiful Ohio, where the sky is clear and spring is right around the corner. Snow is almost all melted.
Mike C., I believe I have a solution to your lack of snowblower experience. THE JIM DUDA SCHOOL of MODEL TRAINS, PLANES and SNOWBLOWERS.
All day meeting tomorrow. The fun never ends.
Roger, when that Lionel rep shows up ask him some hard questions. Specifically, why does MTH have Ohio Central engines and cars and not Lionel. In fact, why does the HO boys have so many choices of road names and we are limited.
LAZ, your new board should have instructions on how to hook up the lights. If not, just use some duct tape and tape your flashlight to your engine. I shouldn't even need to give you help. YOU are a shop teacher. The meanest teachers in the school because they have all the weapons at their disposal to put a new hole in your head.
Boy it is quiet. I wonder if Hampton, VA had to bring out the SWAT team last night to curtail the party.
See ya down the tracks,

Laz, Are you sure you didn't accidently turn them off by hitting AUX2?
We have been getting our share of rain. Not sure how much as I don't have a rain gauge outside, the freeze around here in winter.
No dampness in the basement as of yet.
The Susquehanna River is the spot being watched locally, as well as the feeder streams, as the ice can cause problems when it breaks up and causes ice dams.

Dennis, I'm glad your family was spared major damage from the storm. Likewise, we only had heavy rains but no tornados or damaging winds here. Thanks, everyone for the kind words and prayers. It is a sad day in Alabama and Georgia with so many young people killed. Although we are about three hours from Enterprise, I know several people there. The church next to the destroyed high school (Hillcrest Baptist Church) was where our senior pastor served for several years before coming to Prattville. I went to seminary with their current pastor there and am good friends with their associate pastor. I have not been able to contact them and don't know if there families are o.k. or not.
John B. I second what Dennis said about Katrina. I lived in New Orleans for three years back in the early 1980s. The politics in Louisisana have always been corrupt. Now the incompetence has come back to haunt them. I've been there twice on disaster relief trips and will return again in May to help rebuild a church. Volunteers are making things happen while the local government spins its wheels. Certainly, the federal government was slow responding initially, but billions of dollars have poured in to that city with not a lot to show. Truly sad!

Interesting all the whinning comes from Louisiana. Nary a word do we hear from the folks in Alabama or Mississippi. From photos, it appears that there were only foundations left in Alabama and Miissippi.
I was always taught that there wree two types of levys, Federal and Local. During the flooding of the Mississippi several years ago, I was told that the major failures were the local levys. The federally constructed levys around St. Louis worked magnificicently. My name and my engineering seal are on several federal levy plans in the Midwest. Take it to the bank that the designs are very conservative.

Good Morning Everyone....
Guess what?? It's snowing again today in the Mile High City. It's 21 and bone chilling cold today. I suppose I'm lucky that I have an indoor job.
I received my copy of rrtrack and began a rough layout lastnight. GRRRRR I'm more confused then ever....but it's getting there I suppose. It's the dream layout and certainly not anything that I'll rush out and by the track for today. But still I love the software and realize it's really going to help simplify things.
Well...I better go get another cup of coffee and catch up on work.
Jerry
Good morning from a wet and windy Chicago where it can't decide whether to snow, rain, sleet or hail - but everything is falling horizontally. Blew my hat off. I am thrilled at all the support Buckeye is garnering for my campaign to become the new editor of CTT - wonder if I can do it on the side with my current job - it can't be too hard, right? Think of all the neat photos I'd get to see and articles to read. I promise to feature you all. Boy, those Chinese food references bring back memories of lots of interesting foods eaten in Hong Kong, Peru and Guatemala - what is the expression: they eat everything but the squeak.Mitch, I'm jealous - Dr. Seuss is my main man! At least, with a four year old, I find myself reading lots of his work. And visiting with Mr. Rogers. Our library is closed while they try to rearrange the shelves to jam more books in the same building.
Bought a whole bunch of hook-up wire at Radio Shack yesterday. Hope it is OK for the layout - it is the same pretty colors - black, green and red.

Good Morning... Hope everyone keeps on top of the weather.
Kinda embarrassing... On the show that aired on the Freight trains earlier this week, one of the areas that was highlighted was the port of LA and Long Beach. Well, drive right by it everyweek to the train club. See all the cranes and yards, ships, it is HUGE. Now, that area that was refferred to as the TRENCH, a 10 mile subterrian level of mainlines that allow the trains to move from the harbor area to the primary classification yard, which is located in South Eastern LA, I have never seen and didn't know existed !! So I got to go find it. I know I'm driving over it somewhere.
No progress on the train room recently, been taking care of other issues around the house, work, and other junk (work). Looking forward to get out there. Got news yesterday that our BB that was sent off for warranty repair has been shipped back to us. (Broken wire in the teather)
Need to check out one of those "Little Giant" ladders, see if that would work for some scaffolding, alternative to paying someone $2,500 for painting. UGH
Did pickup some people for our passenger cars, originally thought was getting a good deal, but I don't think so. 40 people sitting down for $27, K-line catalog has 40 for $20, live and learn, Cheap lesson overall, source was promoting many other items as well, re-evaluated sources intentions.
By the Way, Bunco is a woman's "Back Alley Dice Game", as defined by my wife. Only its played in someones house. They have about 12 to 16 people at one time and rotate houses.
Hope everyone has a great day! Going to be working with train heralds today.
LOOKING FORWARD TO YORK !!!
BTW, I will vote for Doug, I'll even get another subscription so I can read between the lines.
