Good morning all,

It is supposed to be sunny and warm with temps in the high 40s today in SE Indiana.  Congrats to reggie on his new job!  We watched "Veronica Mars" last night.  Lucas and my wife stopped by yesterday while I was at work and we went out to lunch.  Lucas was having a checkup to see if the cancer was still gone.  They did chest X-rays and blood work and the doctor did not think there was any need for concern.  We will know the results this week.  Has anyone received the Lionel catalog thru the LRRC yet?  I have gotten two of the K-Line ones, but no Lionel.  At this rate, I will get the MTH RTR book before the Lionel one????   Just the regular fare this morning on the dining before it goes to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

If you find a club, let me know.  I looked briefly, and O gauge clubs are hard to find.  That doesn't mean that we can't start on up.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear, sunny morning. 27 degrees. Going up to a sunny 44 today. The days are getting longer. Spring is on the way.

Today is the usual grocery shopping day. Going into Cambridge and seeing if gas prices are cheaper than $ 2.39 a gallon. Starting to move up again. Must be a Holiday coming up. Never fails.

Later, I plan on running trains. Really having fun with the new section. It is very relaxing, and takes my mind off the grocery prices.

Dining Car is here from " points west ". Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Mornin' boys.  Last cups of coffee for me; gotta go get my chest shaved, get all wired up, and do the treadmill thingy tomorrow morning. Confused [%-)]

88 - I'll leave my set of LIONEL C&O aluminum varnish (Chessie Club,Gadsbys Kitchen,Alleghany Club,Elk Lake, etc.) in the passing siding for you.  I start daywork next week, and we'll have to stretch those F units' legs proper.

Good morning from a warm New England!

Work was waiting for me when I walked in this morning, so I could not post until now. What a nice day out there today! I wanted to drop off my briefcase and head out on a walk at 6AM. I took one yesterday. It felt good to do so again.

Y'all have a nice day!!

Morning all.  Good luck to Lucus [know he is A-OK].  Fife, good luck to you.  I did that in 04.  Three days later they had a wire running around in my arteries.  Week later, 6 by-passes.  Piece of cake. Wink [;)]  Lion, better get out the check book and say good bye to all train purchases.  Wives and decorating can get you in the poor house.  Wife is home playing sick.  There goes my plans for the day. Sad [:(]  Off to Hampton VA BPS tomorrow.  Will be there until Sunday.  Need some train time.  Coffee and toast is ready.

My first free day this week, what happened to retirement? The next time I retire.....................

Here's a quote from the national weather service, our second storm since Saturday is expected tonight, not exactly the forecast I was hoping for. "The combination of these strong winds and snow will produce life-threatening blizzard conditions." Geez--where's Global warming when we need it? I think it's Al Gore's fault :)

Good morning from a grey Chicago where Richard Daley is still mayor and the expected nasty weather is Al Gore's fault.  Hope to puzzle out some wiring tonight and run some trolleys - sure beats watching TV.

Hi Doug:  Watching TV tonight will not be so bad, the History Channel at 9 O'clock EST will have a one hour show on freight trains, supposed to be really good. Have a Great Day.

I was flipping through our limited HD channels here in Ohio, and stopped on a program about the wild west.  They were talking about the first steam engines traveling accross the US just after the war.  The amount of steam coming out of this train was staggering!  I have a pretty good home theater, and my walls were shaking when this thing went across the screen.  It was a good TV experience.

CHIEF - Thanks, but I hope my plumbing is not that bad.  But I do expect to have pay for 40 years of cheeseburgers & fries...let's just hope the piper is playing a short tune...  On a happier note, if you're gonna be down on the VA shore, try sliding up to ASHLAND and DOSWELL.  The IRON HORSE SALOON's front doors are 50 feet from the busy CSX (former RF&P) north-south main.  The diamond by the Squash-a-Penny (look for the big hand), is where the new Buckingham Branch RR (former C&O) crosses CSX.

What a day out there! I went for a nice walk at lunch time and didn't want to come back in. Can spring be far behind? I'm enjoying it while I can. We are expecting a bag of rats weather-wise tomorrow night. Snow, sleet, rain. But today it's gorgeous!

Jon, why are you still running your trains and contributing to Global Warming?  I believe the rest of us have stopped running our toy trains such that we are not contributors to our own extinction.  Obviously, the Academy Awards are not broadcast in Iowa or else you certainly would be in complete compliance.  If you insist on running your trains, you will need to purchase carbon mitigation coupons.   Of course I have coupons that I can sell you.  You can continue to run your trains at least once a month.  Send me $100 every month and I will send you your carbon mitigation coupons.  Small bills preferred.

And one more thing that is annoying me.  If you want to live out there in Iowa where the air smells great, the water is clean and the neighbors are friendly, you are going to be required to pay a sprawl tax.  You and your ilk are just creating a mess.  I bet that you even use electricity to run your pump in your well.  You are so wasteful!!!

In the near future, you are going to be required to move into the city away from your beloved woods and live on the 55th floor of a government building.  That will stop you evil sprawlers.  Serves you right.  Iowa will look like NJ in just a few years.

BTW, I can get you a good price on a .45mm.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I use Dban myself.  It's a little freeware Kernal that runs at bootup and allows you to totally sit back and watch your HD get written over multiple times so data can't be recovered.  It's free, and very easy to use.  Use what works for you though!

I have to use what the employer has basicly and I am learning as I go, several years ago I was building industrial computers and the ocasional server with propriatory software(EDA Controls) but have forgotten much of the process as I am an Ohms and Volts guy not so much a software type although I used to play with basic and C. The plan was to set up one system and gohst the rest but this will not work as we have to load what the COA sticker says and they are not all the same. So My work may be extended a bit. !2 hours a week is working just fine for now. Slowly picking up IT skills along the way.

You have to start somewhere.  I am an IT guy, but more towards IP phone systems than servers.  I guess because of my age (the IT age, I guess), I naturally use computers and data more than my predecessors, but I learn more everyday.  I'm pretty modest about what I know, and I have found that the more you act like you know, the more serious other IT professionals take you, even if you don't have a clue.  Putting up a front isn't my style, so I'll just do what I can do well, and learn the rest as I go.

When I was at Xerox they would send in enginereers from Webster NY and most of them where about clueless about how to do our job for example some guy had been an engineer for 30 some years and made a vist to the lab and wanted to know yhow we did the orders and wanted to run through one himseff, will each unit had an MRD(machine resident disk(floppy))and it comes in a small case to protect it. Well mr. engineer first tryed to put case and all into the cd drive and then into the floppy drive and we all stood there trying not laugh. We talked to our supervisor and told him to keep the engineers out of the lab. Talk about your ID10T errors.Blindfold [X-)]

But that goes on pretty much anywhare, the longer an engineeer has been in management they tend to forget things.

Afternoon All !

Haven't been posting much lately, primarily just doing some lurking. Glad to hear that some of the illnesses are healing, hope these new pills will help with the arthritis. Its a real pain in the .........shoulders.

Chief, I was in Penneys yesterday and saw just what you need for your train room. It's a battery powered John Deere clock just like the Lionel clock that I got for Christmas.

Tried doing an antennae enhancement, signal issues, on a C-420 the other day but had to pull it out. I used a piece of #12 copper wire in side the shell but there is insufficient room to allow proper clearence around the motors on curves. Maybe I'll try again using some 18/20 gauge wire or some copper tape.

Congrats are due to a lot of folks for various reasons so I'll just say Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Good evening all,

Just read the last several pages, but I'm sure I will not remember a lot.

First, congrats to Reggie on the new job.  If your travels ever bring you to Central PA you are welcome to stop in.  I can even provide a place to park the truck! Smile [:)]

Haven't done much with trains the last couple of days.  Started to put TMCC in my Bethlehem Steel Docksider Sunday evening, got about half way and took a break to let the old nerves settle down and never got back to it.  That project is a challenge.

Take care,

Buckeye,

Yes, we do have a well AND city water. We only use the well for the flowers so our useage is minimal, please forgive me. Sprawl? As the bigger city to the east and annexation grows closer (upon our beloved 5 acres of wooded bliss) I would in the future consider moving to South Dakota with fewer beaurocrats and cheaper taxes. The Dakotas have to be one of the best kept secrets in the USA, at least until now.............

Evening all!  Nice weather here today in NC but predicting rain and some possibly severe storms for Thursday.

Reggie and CSXect - congrats on the new jobs.  Anyone need a nurse or a legal nurse consultant?  I have now joined the ranks of the unemployed.  Was working for a firm analyzing medical records.  Finished up the work and now out of a job.  Sad [:(]

Typical... wanted more time to work on my new layout.  Careful what you wish for... now I got the time - but no extra $$$.  Oh well.  It will all work out.
