anjdevil-had a great visit with you Saturday. Look forward to more chats. Maybe we can get together at some point.

Haven't done much with trains for a while. Too much else going on. Classes, grading papers, choir practice, church, watching the Jaguars through my eyelids at the Church of the Holy Recliner, medical tests, and on and on.

GOOD MORNING

A cold 32 w/clouds, another not a nice day. I know I live in Mich. but why does winter have to be ten months long. Of course it's not but it seems that way.

Brutus-HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

It appears some are complaining about the HWX set so maybe by the time they make one for me the problems will be fixed.(i'm at the end of a long list of preorders)will wait as I want to buy from my favorite local. I saw one running at the show sunday at it didn't seem to have any trouble, good smoker.             Sir James

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s.  Spent yesterday taking Lucas in for a four month checkup.  Everything is ok.  His math grades are another issue...again.  We'll just have to work on them some more.  Congrats to the Chief on his win!  We had some elections up here and the incumbents lost.  The race in Greensburg was not much of a surprise even though the current mayor was the one who was here when Honda announced they were locating here.  There were several incidents and other statements that occurred that probably led to his defeat.  The big surprise was in Indianapolis where a relatively unknown candidate with roughly $50,000 and no political support from even his own party defeated the incumbent who had a $1.5 million budget.  The good thing is that he owes no one any favors.  It is good to see a situation where money does not always win campaigns.

Happy birthday, Brutus!  Condolences to your family, Lisa.  Doug (cnw1995), enjoy the time off.  Worked out at the YMCA with only a 20 minute jog last night.  The track was getting too crowded with too many "Milka Dunos" (i.e. moving chicanes) and I was getting tired so I packed it in early.  I saw where Helio survived another week on "Dancing with the Stars".  Most of the weaker competitors are now gone so it will really get tough now.

I had an extra doughnut on the dining car along with the usual fare.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Kurt,

That's why I go to shows alone the first day. All the kids want to do is get a box of pop corn and a soda. Then look at the Lego layout allllllllllll day.  What is wrong with them???! Wink [;)]

Seriously, I do go to shows alone the first day so I can see and buy what I like at my liesure.

There is a show coming up on the 17th and 18th and I have been invited to run some of my trains on a club's layout. I'll do that only AFTER I've poked around.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' Lisa.  Cool, crisp, yet beauty of a day here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Lots of yard work to do between now and Friday.

Jumijo - I thought that "office" was one of the two polling booths that Chief was talking about.  Also, you have Roland Hemmond (former GM for ORIOLES) to thank for Kurt Schilling.  He was the doodle who orchestrated the worst trade in Baltimore's history (the Glenn Davis deal).

dbaker48 - I just had to respond to Lisa's post...and your name just popped up, sooooo under the bus you went.  Plus, I figured that you would have to travel the farthest to kick my tail.Cool [8D]Thumbs Up [tup]  All in good fun.  BTW, love your new "living quarters"...

FJ&G - Thanks for the "health" report.  I'd like a double-whopper, thank you.  With cheese, thank you...

Chief - Good thing PEEKS got that reprieve....every vote counts.  CONGRATS.

mitchie - It hurts when I do this.  Plus, there's still a shard of glass in the back of my noggin'...(kicked open the barn door on that one...Dunce [D)])

BRUTUS --->Happy B-Day [bday]  Go ahead and have two scoops of ice-cream.  I've recently read where a little beef around the middle is healthy.

Happy B-Day [bday] Brutus

Congrats to Chief (not that he really had any doubt)

Lisa - Sorry to hear about your Husband's Uncle!

RT - That really sucks... they give you a faulty piece of equipment and then expect you to pay for a new one!

Kurt - Your delivery should be there today... according to UPS

I plugged my external drive in this morning and ... nothing... Sad [:(] I'm in big trouble if I can't get this thing working because this is where I have EVERYTHING! and I have not synced with the home HD in over 4 months!  I can't believe this crap... this is like the 5th one of these things I've had and they all have crapped out on me!  The others were internal HDs that I converted to external using external drive enclosures so all I had to do to recover was remove them from the enclosure and pop them into the CPU case... this one is a 2.5 inch drive (others were 3.5) and there does not appear to be any way to open this thing up...

nervous as heck right now...

Chuck (Blueberry):  Dora the Explorer needed to get Blueberries yesterday...where do you think she went???

Ms. Lisa:  Sorry to hear the bad news...you have our prayers.

Got 6464 M & St L operating car complete...Boy I got the whole gammut on what to watch out for at shown on this one.  Walkway ends broke, shell crack, incorrect metal frame, PW truck frames on repro truck bodies, 4-broken wheels that were freshly blued...Good thing I only paid $10, and had parts.  I did see most of the problems before I got home.  I won't plan to do much shopping at shows when I bring kids, too hard to concentrate.  Got everything working, and it scares the oldest when I activate the door.  Interesting that the operating man in the door frame will work will all single door 6464 cars...the arm on the door is on all of them.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, but cold, 34 degrees. Going up to 43, with maybe some rain later.

Today, is the day, that I drive up to Cambridge, for groceries. This is getting to be an expensive trip. Gas is now at $3.09 a gallon. And I hear it will get higher. This reflects on all items at the store. A lot of stores are going out of business, in Cambridge. There are signs all over the town of places " For rent". The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

No time for trains today. Ran them about an hour yesterday, again.

Brutus....Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]

Dining Car has arrived. Cupcakes all gone. Breakfast of Cheerios.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

"Extra Pounds May Carry Certain Health Benefits." Headline on Front Page of today's Washington Post Newspaper.

Article states new findings by federal researchers released yesterday that being overweight protects against a host of causes of death. The counterintuitive findings are based on a detailed analysis of decades of gov't data that studied a massive # of Americans: 39,000, supporting conclusions 2 years ago.

Overweight can still lead to kidney and diabetes but not many other diseases like cancer and heart disease and the benefits of being overweight outweigh those. 2/3 of Americans are overweight. Note the study is not about obese, but overweight. Obese is still very bad. The extra fat (or bigger bones and more muscle) is said to be a reserve to help fight illness and aid recovery.

I guess that is the last word. Case closed.

Congratulations, Mayor McChief! Behold the Roseyville Mayor's Office/Executive Mansion (it's in the new subdivision).

Notice that it's on the good side of the tracks.

Brutus - Happy B-Day [bday] Here's to 100 more!

Lisa, sorry to hear of your family's loss. Better days are ahead.

The kids and I had a fun time last night in the "old clubhouse" as they call it. We played air hockey and I dutifully lost to each one. We also ran trains for a while. The new scale SF F3 pulled a long passenger train on the outer loop, and the NYC RS3 pulled coal filled hoppers on the inner loop.

RT - Best wishes on your Dr's visit, hopefully good news headed your way!

Fife - No, nothing could be further from the truth.  I've been absolutely angelic. Angel [angel]  I do have to admit, that everyone wasn't real estatic about the train room expansion project.  (Ref. link...my previous post mid way down page..)

http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/600/991901/ShowPost.aspx#991901

However, as a result of some negotiations, I do have a NEW train room.  Some of you may recall I had originally planned on a room over the garage.  Well guess what???  I now have it......

The new train room.........

It's not really too bad!!  Given that I no longer have the El Camino, I was able to relocate the majority of my layout to my van.

So as you can see, I've been very busy.  Will post more soon, negotiations are continuing......

Thanks Mitch!  Baltimore is on hold for now.  I told them I can't travel for 2 plus months a year, a month at a time.  It's just too much for me.  I am up for local training and might go to Baltimore for a week for pre-training, or it might be St. Pete.  We'll see if and when and I'll be sure to hook up with you if I can.  Interestingly, my sister is in Baltimore for the rest of the week!

Evening Folks,

Just dropping by to check in.  Voted early this AM, no time to post. Late meeting with parents for new school.  Got another late one Thursday night.  Mrs. went to memorial service for a friend of our family who passed away last week.  She will spend the night with my Mom and Dad.  I could not go due to previously scheduled meeting.  A group of parents is appealing the boundary line decision and it would have created a real mess if I had postponed to go to this memorial service.

Mom went to heart surgeon last week, he cleared her to do whatever she wanted.  Even drive if she felt up to it.  Today she and Dad walked a mile at the Mall.  She has been pretty diligent about keeping up with walking, increasing her pace and distance.

Lisa - sorry for your family's loss.

Hail to the Chief - do we have to play the music everytime he walks in the room now??? Congrats on the victory.

RT  - hope you get some help with the medical expenses.  You are right that the company that supplied the defective leads should be responsible for the $$.

Fife - how are you doing?  Any leftover neck problems from the accident?

Brent  - glad the bathroom project seems to be back on track.

Brutus/Jim - Happy B-Day [bday] - Any more word on a Baltimore trip?

Weather here has been much colder and plenty windy.  Snowing in western Maryland according to some reports.  Someone mentioned a snow shower or two for our area Friday.  Will have to check Weather.com

Very early meeting tomorrow AM.  Must be out the door by 6:00 so I better get ready for bed. I'll check in tomorrow night.

Mitch
