OSU game today is a good match up both teams are trying hard and 3 injurys so far
Busy day so far. Basketball practice, grocery shopping, gas fill up, lunch, polished out the paint on the wife's car trunk, waxed it, vaccummed, and washed all the floors. Now off to church to pray for my poor, misguided soul and then home for hamburgers and french fries and maybe a movie.
Glad to see that Chuck's wife is feeling better.

I'm ill and short tempered because I CAN'T eat all that stuff. This diet and exercise stuff is not much fun.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Laz, I hope you mean right and left from behind [or do yanks not know their right from their left ] Thye sure are a backward bunch in CT. They walk into a Cabela's and stop, stare and gape. Haven't yuz giz seen a store before? Dunkin Donuts has not heard of a vanilla cream filled. Bet they would go crazy if Krispy Kreame came here. Dunkin Donuts does have the best coffee. I buy it at one location. 2 lbs for $11 or 1 lb for $8. I always buy 2 lbs. [Yanks would just buy one lb.] Buy whole beans and grind it for a week at the time with my electric coffee grinder. Store it in a sealed coffee jar. Good stuff to wake up to in the morning.
Marine section of the store is slooooooow. Well, its winter up here [not fall]. Boats winterized. Now in clothing, hunting and etc., different story. Left store for lunch [reminds me of another thing] and the police had blocked off the main entrance and was diverting traffic to the UCON football parking area. Floods of people coming to the store. I'll go back later this afternoon and hope it has calmed down some. Now for the rest of the story. New England Yanks eat some bad stuff. Had a poor job of a sloppy joe for lunch yesterday [they feed us]. Today, some type of soft taco with some big chunks of chicken and cooked peppers and oinons, rice and some strange chips. I left the store. Do these people ever eat real food? Fried chicken, country fried chicken steak with millhouse gravy, fried beef steak with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy and so on. No wonder they walk around so ill and short tempered. Its like visiting another country. Bet they are still having witch trials. Enough kidding for one post.

Roger - Thank you, you are my hero!!! It all works. I've read the book, can't believe I didn't check that switch. I was already to adjust the Chuff rate thinking is was set too low.
Got to get back to work.
Thanks !!!
Don
Chuck, I would suggest you fire your cook. Obviously, your cook is not doing you an adaquate job. The maid should also be told to hit the road. I hear the house is becoming a trash dump.

Doug- We really enjoyed our stay at Disney in 2005. Stayed at the Hilton over Christmas. It was great. Infact thats where Charlie and I were hooked on Lionel Trains. Charlie got a set for that christmas. We ran Lionel trains for the first time in the hotel lobby on Christmas day. Great memories. No going back to Hornby OO once you have run a Lionel.
Have a good afternoon people
Nick
MORNING ALL
I read a few post before coming here this AM and sadly I see some of the bickering from that other forum has spilled over onto here. Too bad as this has been a much saner forum.
Brutus glad you enjoyed the ice cream, I made a special trip to Krogers for you and the grandsons.
The sun is out, first time in a week....Kurt did we get any sun last sunday? if not it's been over a week. Not sure about today yet I need to run the mower over the leaves but there are still some trees that aren't done yet. I guess it doesn't matter all that much when the wind blows. Well run some trains and I'll check back later.......Sir james
CSXECT,
Conga on the weight loss. Remember go slow and steady. Try and get into a habit of going for a walk once a day for 30 minutes if you can? If not whatever you can get or do. After a while it will be second habit. Then try and go twice a day. After a while try a little jog if you can, it is difficult but with perserverance you can do it. Do not say I can't have that or this. Reward yourself on good days in moderation. Then work a little harder the next day. Its all in that little bit of grey matter between the ears. Good luck and keep us posted. Remember pace yourself its like a marathon slow and steady baby.

First week I lost 9.2 pounds the second week lost 6 pounds weigh in on mondays I started at 379 and my scales this morning says 346(of course did not have shoes or jeans on which I do have on when I got to Central Ohio nutrition center) I try not to obsess with weighing myself between meetings/classes. The hard part is avoiding temptations we are not having a thanksgiving dinner this year(well not me anyways, everybody is going to church for the potluck/t-day dinner while I stay at home with my optifast drinks hope to be able to try the optifast soups for a little variaty soon.) I am losing a little here and there, need to get an regular exercise routine going to speed the process and build muscle as well.
Wes I have noticed a decress in food quality in a lot of resturants lately. Steak & Shake food is good but the service is lapsadaisical at best, Sonic is a neat concept but footlong coneys are no better than what you could get at DQ.
KURT,
Our shops here are still traditional woodworking shops. In the MS I teach very basic stuff on jig saws sanders, drill press, miter saw, and lathe. Kids run routers and design and make a sign, then design and make a coin bank. In 8th grade design and make a bigger piece of furniture using basic dado and rabbet joints, learned on the radial arm saw and I teach em the jointer, band saw. . When I go up to HS in afternoon, I teach the basic wood class there where I teach em how to use all the machines including a CNC router where we make a nice jewelry box and route the top. Also we make a laminated cutting board using 4 or five different woods glued together. And final project is a picture frame where we teach em how to cut glass and etch the glass. More girls then boys taking shop in HS.
Hi GIZ,
First off a BIG goes out to the UNITED STATES MARINE CORP. Thanks GIZ for a job well done for all these I think 232 years.
38 and cold here today going to try for pheasants again today with my BROTHER.
DON B. as ROGER stated above try the reprogramming of the engine as in the book also as DA CHIEF said go under the hatches of the tender and check to see if switches are in the right position. Also make sure volume is all the way up.
JELECTRIC, JOHN your more of a man then me to sit through a HS football game in that weather last night. BRRRRRRR! I hate it during deer season.
All B safe.
Up early since I stayed up til 1:30 reading CTT and watching MI3. Wife took over laptop, something about bills and other poor excuses. Need another laptop that's at least good enough for internet and email.... Gotta get motivating for cub scouts (yeah). Doug, next time we go to Disney World we are doing a full week and all the parks, plus MGM etc. Last time we were in Orlando for a week, but only at Disney the last 2 days, so had like 1.5 days in the park.
Howdy everybody! Roy, sounds like a really cool class, wish they had that stuff when I was a kid!
Oh yeah, got my K-Line by Lionel barn and chicken coop - came in a bag instead of a box. Haven't opened it yet, so hope the instructions are in there -- I can't see them!? Maybe go to LHS later. Wife wants furniture - need a new set of recliners or something. Chewy chewed up our current recliner/loveseat as a puppy and now the mechanisms are going. Looked underneath and it's all pretty cheap pressboard etc. So much for quality furniture. Now I know what not to buy.

Mornin' boys. Damp and 41 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Supposed to be good football weather tomorrow when the Brownies come to town.
dwiemer - Congrats...you have beat Kmart this year.
D--- this hotel!!!!!!!!!!! Did it agian. You sign on the internet, type post and then hit post, it goes to their sign on screen and drops your post. Why don't they get their entry OK screen as soon as you sign on.
Dumb Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don, special Big Boy just for MTH lovers. NO sound.
Try the switch under the engine. I think there is four. One is program/run, one is smoke/no smoke and one is odessey off/on. I think there is a sound/no sound one. If not, it is in the tender under the water hatch. Also a Railsounds/Signalsounds one in tender under watch hatch lid. Try reading the book that came with it. LAZ can check and tell you about switches.
Morning all. Overslept but do not have to be at store until 9 AM or so. Cold but looks like it has more sun than yesterday PM. Shower time [room coffee ready]. Have a good one.

Doug: Er uhhh...Practicing for next year! I needed to soft shoe the Conneticut thing...I hope you're wearing your Mickey ears for Sunday Photo fun! Hope you and the family had a great trip, and you had some time off to enjoy you family!
LAZ: I remember our shop was pretty basic, table saw, jig saw, drill press, and a planer. Are the schools getting equipped with more advanced equipment or are you still focusing on the fundamentals? Our kitchen cabinet manufacturer has top/bottom double cut circular saws to eliminate tearout on the plywood. Do you GIZ get toys like that?
More leaves today, finally thinning out...and cut down perinneals for the winter....Time to button up! It's been close to 30-degrees the past few mornings.
Kurt
Good morning from New England? My daughter woke me up at 5:03. The time change hasn't kicked in yet for any of us I guess.
Someone mentioned going on a diet? I've been on one for about a week. Maybe a little longer. It's making me grouchy!!! I'm hungry all the time. A snack now is a glass of water and 2 baby carrots. And absolutely nothing after dinner. But I need to lose weight. None of my pants fit anymore. I'm just starting to see results. It's tough, but worth it. I usually weigh around 175. But lately, I've been knocking on 200's door. I miss eating!
We ran trains last night for over an hour. I also dusted the layout. Today I want to run my 671 with some Pennsy passenger cars.
Dennis - your tree is already up?! You win that race. We don't put ours up until the first week of December.
I hope Doug and family have an uneventful flight home. They should be taking off right about now.
Good early morning Y'all!
Couldn't sleep, so here I am. Sounds like you guys are really enjoying the Big Boys. I have heard several more folks talking about the breaking up of sound, so hopefully it is easily rectified.
Roy, I was looking through the list of journals that are on a web site I subscribe to. One has to do with robotics. If you don't currently take it, I can get the information.
Well, the tree is up and the train has been running around her. Kids have been having a ball as the Polar Express got a few more cars added to it (I even threw in a Christmas musical boxcar). The kids are at the age when we can all really enjoy Christmas, so we will make this last as long as possible.
Busy day with the movie stuff. Had our production meeting and lots to do before Monday, which will be the Train scenes. Had to go up to the rail yard and get photos of one of the engines that will be used as we have to mount cameras on it. Also had to make arrangements for engineers to have train on location at 6am, they ought to love that! I will try to get a few photos to post, but will have to clear it with director.
Chief, hope you are well and that they haven't tried to poison you again.
God Bless,
Dennis

John - Congos on the football game ! That's really great, trap shooting sounds like fun as well. What do you do with all the traps afterwards?
Roy and Dave travel safe
Came home and ran the BB, (Chief - my post just disappeared also.) Here is what I found....
1. The thing is a monster! weighs well over 20 lbs.
2. The lights are fantastic...
- The lights alongside the boiler that come on when the engine stops are really great!
- When the engine begins to move there is a red glow from the fire box on the outside of the engine it is really cool.
- There are 2 sets of lit number boards, one above the boiler and one at the headlight.
- The interior light comes on when the train stops, can you imagine?
3. This is the first time I've ever seen "blind" wheel sets provided with the engine. Alternative to ALL flange wheels located on the tender. (Lionel says in the event your switches are NOT Lionel)
4. The detail is spectacular!
Definetely one HECK of an engine.
Concerns:
- Most important is the only sound I have is the bell, and horn. They really sound good. Very realistic. I read a post that someone said it sounded the same as the Lionel Cab Forward. I don't agree they are very distinct. As a matter of fact this engines whistle is very similiar to the MTH RK Big Boy I have. Only much richer, and lot louder. The bell has a slight echo affect, again very realistic.
HOPEFULLY, I'm doing something wrong, I have no chuff at all, no chatter between the cab and dispatcher. (Alt 2 or 7 keys). I DID install the 9v batt., no change. Then when power is removed do get a very large release of pressure and air. So I know the speaker works. Don't know if the remaining sound is in the identity chip, or operator error, DOA or what.
Got to go 5:00 com WEEKENDes early and its already 12:30...... hopefully more tomorow.
(You guys have chuff, etc.???)
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEEKEND
Jim,
Robotics class at the Elementary school is doing great. Good well behaved kids this year (so far). The 6th graders get to be a bit of a handfull towards the end of the school year in the Spring!
The HS group is done. We were 3rd after the seeding rounds and then things got rough and we placed 6th or 7th (I forget now) in the finals. Not good enough to go to state again.
Buckeye - Yes Chicago was Cool but when you went outside it was COLD!
Regards from N Texas were temps will hover around 80 for the weekend!
Regards, Roy
Wes - I think I'm going to try and morph my layout into a big donut I can sit in the middle and watch the trains, maybe have a side table with some switching.... Dunno yet, right now I've got a 4 x 8 table with a single loop of fastrack on it for the HWX - all my O31 and O27 is in a box. That's not gonna work for me!
John (jefelectric) - love trap shooting! Man, I haven't done that in 20 years!
edit - Hey - we did it again, John! ;-) I guess I'll have to agree, was looking for some cheap used but working O72 switches from Lionel, postwar, but I don't see them for sale on ebay etc.... Is that a high demand item that keeps the prices up???
Brutus - I thought about not having large enough curves also, but with my limited space, all I really get is a big oval if I use 0-72. That's not much fun...
