RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Sunday it poured buckets outside and it was supposed to rain today, but the day dawned warm and sunny so I worked outside most of the day, cleaning gutters, mowing leaves, and mowing the grass as well. Also trimmed a tree that was touching the phone line. Condolences to Dennis on the loss of the cameraman. Chief, sorry to hear about your camera and equipment. Doug, glad to see you made it back to Chicago. I worked on the historical society layout yesterday and will do so again tonight. It's back to work tomorrow, which will be a hectic four days. Breakfast has been varied the last two days with pancakes and sausages yesterday and bacon and English muffins today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Another busy day here. Went to work for 4 hours keeping the world safe...
Then home and leaf bagging. Then I took everyone to Bertucci's for lunch. After that, off to the inlaws for leaf raking, bagging, and chimney sweeping. While I was up there, I repaired a cracked cap and caulked up the roof vent. Finally home and just hanging out with my wife. I can't seem to lose any weight when she's home. Too good of a cook. Maybe it's time to start buying 36" waist pants...

Modeling the Baltimore waterfront in HO scale
Don, my Dad said the same thing.
Kurt - no coolers in the armrests, but did pick out a couple good chairs. I ended up with the big seat chair, which will let Chewy sit with me as usual. Took forever for my wife to find one that she liked, because she's shorter than I am.
For her:
For me:
Hey Guys, thanks for the kind thoughts.
On the RR front, I am reading the model railroader that I just got (new subscription from wife), and they have a story on Rod Stewart. His HO layout is 23 x 124 feet....WOW! You should see the detail. He supposedly does the scenery himself. I never knew. Anyway, it is worth checking out.
With this extra time on my hands now, I hope to get the electrical end of things done on the layout and then get to scenery. My bride mentioned that the Christmas layout should give me the extra desire to finish the main layout....she's right, as usual.
Well, hope everyone has a blessed week,
Dennis

Brutus: Are you planning on the LAZ Boy with the cooler in the armrest? Nice!
Chief: Good luck on that plane! Sounds like you're the DD for the York road trip next year! You will now have the largest vehicle!
Jon: Sorry to hear about the administration. Why would someone like that take a job working for kids????
Sounds like the Minnesota trip might be postponed 'til spring...and the child travels better. Bride seems pretty bummed. She has a 94 YO Great Grandmother she would like to see, and introduce the second child to. I told her we should just go....by train, and $uck it up...The driving plan would be travelling mostly at night so the kids would sleep...I don't drive well after dark. I keep falling asleep. I usually drive the return trip in one sitting during the day.
She's been working 12-14-hours/day + weekends and said she needs a break. If we travel, she wouldn't get a break. She added that she'll need to work on her vacation the week of Thanksgiving.
Kurt
Laz--
Administrators--- highly overpaid with WAY to much time on their hands. I was very fortunate, I only had two HS principals in my last school for 24 years and they were great, left me alone and let me do my job. Now the supt., clueless would be the nicest thing I could say in a public forum, no friend of the fine arts nor kids in general.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Hope everyone has a great Veterans Day !!
Dennis - Really sad NEWS, prayers for the family!! Not much else can be said, just really sad when it happens to young people.
Chief - Sorry to hear about the camera. Since you have created the standard for incorporating pictures on the trip report. I certainly think it would be a business expense.
Regarding Veterans Day -- As a Viet Nam vet, it sure is great to see people acknowledging the vets today. That just didn't happen previously, say 8-9 years ago. I sure most of the Viet Nam era guys feel the same.
Don
DOUG,
Yep it is the kids favorite subject. Sometimes it's great and other times I just want to yell? For the most part the kids are a good bunch and have very little problems with them. However administrators is another story?

Good morning from a gloomy and warm Rolling Meadows, Illinois, where I have ventured by car to this mysterious suburban campus to see some funky HD video conferencing equipment our IS people want to show off. It took me a while to find a workspace in this tower so Jim beat me to our morning posts! Nice to be back - though I enjoyed the trip. Learned alot at my conference and enjoyed WDW - wow, that place is expensive. By the way, is Florida part of the South? It seemed like a different country.Chief, I am sorry your camera was stolen. Despite what they say, I've taken to carrying everything electronic of value with me. Dennis, I am sorry for that terrible loss. Laz, I was reading what you teach and sure wish I had shop class when I was younger. Our school didn't offer it.

BRUTUS,
GOOD LUCK on the LAZ BOY. Great to sleep in too.
Hi GIZ,
Got the dreaded Parent teachers conferences today. Got to be there at 1 till 830 tonite. YUK. At least I'll get my budgeting done for next year.
CHIEF, sorry to here bout your camera, hope they find the bastages and hang em by their bells.
STUR FISH, yep you got that right with the deer season. Went out spotting deer after we got done hunting pheasants and saw 4 real beauties. One big buck in a feild with 5 doe. He was about a 8 pointer about 20 inches wide rack, just chasing these doe trying to corral them up never paid any attention to us. He was only about 25 yards from road. Real neat thing to see.
MITCH, good luck on the meeting.
All have agood one.
Mornin' boys. Raining & 46 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Looks like the Steve McNair era may be coming to an end in Baltimore. The RAVENS fed the ball to the BENGALS more than Carson Palmer did...
Chief - Lousy news about that camera.
dwiemer - tougher news there.
kpolak - Can't put a price tag on sanity...take the train.
Hmmm, good coffee! Stayed up too late talking with a good friend about trains, then had to get up and take kids to school. Off today and will drop of truck at Chevy for a service and go to LAZ(57)boy for new recliners to replace recliner loveseat. Going for the Big Seat style!
Sir James - You can't just copy my avatar pic and email it to me, that would scare anyone! LOL
Thanks Mitch! Sister is back from her trip to Baltimore and had a very nice time, but it was short, just 2 days. School is on track?
Buckeye, I think you are holding those instructions upside down?
Good news on your wife, Chuck, I'll bet she is better and better every day. You need more train time, I think.
Can't believe I beat Doug M to posting today, he must be sleeping in with jet lag.
RT - it's a 2 part plan? First, get the camera. Second, keep him occuppied for the next 6 months talking to customer support in Eastern Krudistan and filling out paperwork over and over again.....
Kurt - that's always the way it goes. You just signed up for a new car or nice trip or something and then some major appliance has to be replaced. Oh well, keeping the economy rolling.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool 50 degrees. Raining a little. Going up to 64 today, with more rain expected.
Today is another busy day. Wife is up and moving around. She slept better last night. Pain pills are working. I have a bunch of errands to run and then usual chores around the house. No time for trains again.
Dining Car is still on self service. Breakfast was quick.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck

This morning I have a nice digital camera with an extra chip for sale. It was given to me by my uncle's second cousin from Connecticut. Unfortunately all the instructions are in a foreign language, Suthern.
Let's see, Buckeyes = loss, Michigan = loss, Browns = loss, ND = Loss, Purdue = Loss, IU = Loss, & Bengals = Win. The world is certainly coming to an end.
Cleaned the train room and now need to start wiring the new switches to the controllers. Wire and test, wire and test. SC-2s are temperamental.
Dennis, sorry to hear about the accident. I know you are pretty shook up after something like that happens to someone you know.
Fishing - With the weak American dollar and gas prices projected to head upward, our annual trip to Canada is not a bargain anymore.
Chuck, did you fire that Chef of yours? How's Momma?
Doug, glad you are home safe and sound. I knew you wouldn't enjoy that warm sunny weather and would return to the gloom and cold of Chicago.
A big CTT salute to all of our Veterans past and present. We thank you.

Hello to All,
Dennis-I understand the loss. We had a young church family two of the three gone in a car accident. The best to you and those involved.
Brutus I'll send a picture for you to put on the side of the car; that will scare everyone. Including the adults.
Chief- sorry about your camera, they know this sort of thing is going on and yet next to nothing is being done about it. Your camera is not a one time thing the person who did that has done it before and should be found. We all know that type of person will do something like that more than once.
If your not at work go run some trains.........Sir James

Dennis: Sad news...Prayers for his Wife and baby.
Refrigeratorhas beed acting poorly...runs all the tim, and is icing up, controls frozen.. 13-yo...It came with the house.
Bride woke up yesterday, and said we need a new refrigerator. 'We'll go to Sears to look'. Translation, 'I'm walking out with a new refrigerator today'. Refrigerator being delivered today.
Had bride convinced that the Empire Builder was a great idea to get everyone to Minnesota for Thanksgiving! 14-hour ride (it'll take us that much driving), kids can run, no strapped in seats, family bedroom...Arizona in January, new refrigerator, Christmas...Looks like we're driving. Youngest doesn't travel well, or sleep away from her bed well.
Doug - glad to see you made it home from FLA ok. I think you're going to enjoy all those Thomas items. I'll bet you're tired!
I am going to be making up a sheet of clear decals for my daughter's train. I'll most likely have space left over that would just be wasted blank space. So if anyone has a need for decals, let me know and I'll try to squeeze them in. I did some for Doug last time on some spare space. I'd rather not waste the film space if I don't have to. PM me if you want decals.
Morning to All. Just put on a fresh pot. Seems the forum was down until a few moments ago. Ravens stunk up the joint again yesterday. The 48 is just on a level above the rest of the NASCAR crew. Unless he has a major wreck or has some other reason for a DNF next weekend the Nextel Cup Championship is his.
Big budget meeting today. Got to get to work early to get things straightened out budget-wise before a 2:00 PM meeting with Asst. Superintendent and Director of Curriculum.
Chief - what a PAIN - sorry your camera and memory card are gone. Hope they catch the crook but doubt it will happen.
Dennis - Condolences and prayers go out to the family and your church family on the loss of your colleague from the camera crew.
Brutus - a belated
Chuck - Hope your waitress is back on her feet soon. I know I am lost when my Mrs. is out of commission or laid up with some ailment.
Have a great day.
Mitch

Just got off of the phone with US Airways Preferred Customer Supervisor. Some D--- SOB New England YANKEE employee of their's stole my digital camera and extra chip. I started looking because I knew the luggage had been opened as I always zip both zipper to the middle. Both zippers were at one end. NO NOTE FROM TSA. I could tell they had been through my bag. Picked up the webbing camera case and it colapsed They left my rechargerable batteries but took the extra chip that was in the other compartment. This is going to COST US Airways. Even Ohizo Yankees do not steal from your luggage. I got to the airport 2 hours early in Hartford. It went from the Hartford flight right inrto the RDU plane while in Charlotte [the Hartford plane arrived in Charlotte at the gate next to RDU and they were already loading the luggage as only a 30 minute layover]. Someone had to go through my bag as it was under a big coat, Pro Mariner soft brief case, clothes and shoes. Supervisor is filing complaint but asked me to return to the airport tomorrow and file a claim too. Going to Dr. tomorrow afternoon so will go from there. Epi pen, I just threw one away that was 5 years old from after the "big attack" I had back then. Well, time to eat dinner.
Later
Bit of sad news to report tonight. Towards the end of the evening services they announced that one of the camera operators who was on his way up for the morning filming was in a bad car accident. At the time he was in surgery, but we have just found out that he expired. He leaves a wife and a baby on the way. Filming will be delayed until after Thanksgiving.
I wish I could say something happy about now, but it is hard. I will say that we serve a mighty God and to Him be the glory.
Decided to take call this week after all. Maybe I can get some real work done on the main layout to divert my thoughts. Just something about trains that can ease the mind and warm the heart.
Hey Sir James - I think I'm going to call that spooky car the Sir James Special (Chewy Curse!) -- if you want, go out and pick up some more beverages and swing down here, we can watch some of my toy train dvds and quench that thirst!
Laz-I enjoy hearing about your hunting and fishing trips. It has been four years since I've had the time for decent hunting or fishing, and such a shame it is. Between working in Tennessee for a year then starting th deaconate school, my time has been taxed. There is something special about being in a treestand during the rut at sunrise. The frost in the woods sparkle in the morning light, you feel the cold air in you lungs and when you hear the crunch of footsteps, and smell a buck in full rut coming into your shooting lane, thats excitment!
