We just got grazed by the last cold front so it started out cold (mid-30's) is sunny and headed towards 60 today!
Cleaning out a set of bookshelves over the weekend and last night. Two of them 7 feet tall. Never thought this would turn into a several evenings project! What a mess and hard to work around.
Have a great day all!

It's been a busy morning here. Let's hope tomorrow will be back to "normal".
Has anyone else here noticed the K-Line semi-scale Hudson? It's a nice looking loc, but at $399 for the conventional version, I need to pass. Maybe it will blowout at some point. I've got my pre-order list in good shape. Going for the conventional O scale SF F3, a dining car for our El Capitan set, some freight cars, some figures, and maybe the kid flying the kite accessory. Still deciding on the boxcab, the Lincoln Logs 4-4-0 set, and the K-Line NH freight set.
I'm not looking forward to standing outside waiting for my daughter at school today! Brrrrrr!

I was thinking of that set for the Grandsons, 2 & 8, but, after checking out the previously issued model of the engine that's in the display cabinet at work, I doubt that it would survive crashing through a wall of logs. They need something made like a tank, I know I did at that age.
All this talk about school, et al, delays due to the cold, you Yankees are a sorry bunch. Last week when we had the sleet and freezing rain they didn't close our schools till a school bus slid off the road into a ditch. Luckily it was empty at the time.
I bet it doesn't get down to 1 degree with -12 windchill often down there...It's pretty hard on the kids at the bus stop, I assume. It hasn't really snowed in Columbus in a couple of days.

Lion, all that and more can be found in OHIO at a very reasonable price. One of my favorite houses in the area has a two car garage with another unattached two car garage-workshop sitting along a very scenic stream. That is what you need.

Afternoon all,
Off today as a regular day off. Very cold, when I went out this morning to feed and water the dog the water bucket was a solid chuck. I put extra straw in the doghouse last night so the dog was cozy. Ran trains a little land working on homework for class this weekend, reading and wirting draft papers. I'd rather be playing with trains!!!!
Taking a break now and when I've reached the saturation point or the end of the assignments, I will start taking apart the 752 coaler, something relaxing, and warm.
Prayers to those who need them,

It was just too cold to have kids waiting for a bus or walking to school. The wind was also creating white-outs. I will have to watch tomorrow morning to see how everything looks. Stay warm everyone.TomS
Tom, since you live in the best snow country in the U.S., have you ever seen the wind blow so hard that it forms hollow "snow balls"? I saw it once in 1978 in Northen Indiana.
As to calling off school; when I lived on the lake as a kid, we had to walk about 1,000 feet south to where the school bus driver lived, also on the lake. In the winter when the snow was deep we would walk the ice to his house to get the bus.
Minus 4 degrees this morning with a wind chill of -23....hey! That's a few degrees warmer than yesterday!!! They cancelled all of the area schools....even Toledo! They never cancel Toledo school. I remember when I was in high school there was a day when all of the area schools....except for Toledo were closed....also Bowling Green State University,Owens Community College, University of Toledo....and The Jeep Plant!!!! All closed....but Toledo schools were open??? But no yellow bus service. Mom said if the busses weren't running....we weren't going! Thanks Mom!!!!!!! Supposed to be like this the next two days and warming (????) up to 19 on Wednesday.

Hi guys,
A lot of posts today. That bridge of Chucks is very nice. They make some nice bridges, for anyone interested here is the site.

All of the local schools around here were annoucing 2-hour delays for tomorrow during the evening commute tonight. It's good for the parents to be able to plan thier next morning at 5pm instead of 5am.
SK
John Thanks for the bridge link! Pretty nice prices for metal bridges.
Bears Fans Sorry about the game....Chicago is one of my favorite places in the world and I was hoping they would win. Things could be worse....you could be Browns Fans!!!!! Sorry Browns Fans! One of these years you'll make it!!!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Hi GIZ,
Real cold here at 5 above, hope for a delay tomorrow?
Just got done putting more of the Lizard Litter down. I'm cutting out construction paper double thick then thumb tacking it on the homesote. Then applying the glue then the litter then the glue water solution. Working great but time consuming. I'm putting down construction paper incase I ever want to change things.
Stay warm?

KEITH,
I think my 800lb. bear is in hibernation?
Boy does that sound like suicide. Even if it was true, somethings just shouldn't be said.
On the School front, when I grew up, the only time they cancelled school was when more than 50% of the teachers were unable to make it in. We did not have buses, we walked.
Hey Chief, watching a great show on the new Barrett 416 sniper weapon system. Guy makes cold barrel shot at 2500 meters I think I may have to get one.....Just kidding.
Have a great night y'all.

Dennis That is an amazing gun. I saw some footage of it earlier.
Evening to all. Plenty cold here in G'burg, Currently 9 with a wind chill of -5. No word yet on our school system having a delay tomorrow, although some are already announcing this evening.
Not much train related activity as the train room is in the unheated garage. If I tried to run a train, I think I might wind up like Ralphie in The Christmas Story, with my hand stuck to the bare metal of one of the locos.
Our son is in Charleston WV this week at the West Virginia Legislature shadowing a state senator. He is in hog heaven down there with all of the politicos. He just can't get enough of that stuff.
Take care,

Wake him up!!!
That island in the kitchen? Would that have clear sides and top, about 4'x8' ,with maybe a snack train, consisting of 5-8 dump cars to dispense your favorite snacks? Just a thought, in case you were tight on space, or needed a negotiation tool for that grand foyer.
