I am forgoing a trip to the beach today.  With temperatures less than 10 degrees, and the wind howling through the trees it is a might chilly in Buckeyeland.

Busy week ahead, but interesting too.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a very cold - 2 right now. Going up to a 12 degrees today. WOW. Going to be cold here for the next week or so.

Today, we are going to Marietta, on business. Have to finish up some things, that have been waiting for us. Nothing serious. I don't think I'll get any time for trains today. Maybe run some for a short while later.

I watched the Colts beat the Bears yesterday. ( sorry LAZ ). I was also disappointed in the commercials. Always looked forward to some great ones. Lotta money for air-time. Baseball pre-season starts soon. Catchers and pitchers to report to training camp in a few weeks. Some of the games will be televised. Wife is counting the days. Big baseball fan.

Dining Car has arrived. Breakfast is served. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Chuck

Good morning all,

It is COLD in SE Indiana with temps around the single digits (both plus and minus) all day today.  Some more snow is forecast for tomorrow.  Where is the global warming?  John, I will try to get some pictures posted of the bricks.   Pretty quiet at work today as most people are celebrating the Colts win.  I watched most of it last night.  The commercials were slightly better than last year, especially the CareerBuilder ones.  I am so glad they got rid of the monkeys.  We went to church yesterday and it was not very crowded due to the cold.  I also went to the YMCA for some treadmill action, and I ran the 8E for a while.  I worked on taxes and figured those out as well.  The game was kind of sloppy.  At least I won't have to hear how Payton can't win the big ones any more.  When Chicago got that first touchdown, I thought it was going to be a long night.  It was still a long evening.  I was kind of disappointed in the Godaddy's ad.  Danica Patrick was supposed to be in it (and she was), but if you did not know who she was, you would not recognize her.  I was hoping for a little more advertising for the Indy Racing League, but oh, well.  I would have posted earlier this morning, but I had to catch up on all the posts as I skipped yesterday.  I better send the dining car to "Points East" or else the folks in Ohiozo will starve to death.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Marty,
I couldn't agree more!  In the 13 years I was in school in PA I don't think we had more than 30 days off for snow the entire time!  Now they close school if the wind is blowing over 10 mph!  I wonder how much of this is due to potential lawsuits from sue happy families?  Down here in MD, if they have 1/2 inch of snow there is at least a delay!  They think anything over 1 inch is a blizzard - they better never move to Erie, that's all I have to say!

I just hope my Dad gets my house rented today!

only 8 degrees today when I started the bimmer... she told me to go back inside and wake her when the Sun comes out!  Disapprove [V]

On the way in I saw a transformer blow, lines down, started a fire.  Called 911 - lady wanted a street address... I'm like 31S just outside New Windsor at the bottom of the hill below the new water treatment plant... she says, 'do you have an address?'  Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead] Um NO!  I just moved here and I don't have everyone's address memorized, there is a fire!  OK sir, I need a street number. Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]  I told her that was the best I could do as I am not risking my life to get her a street number... 'OK sir, that is fine.  Is there a nearby cross street?'  'Yes, at the top of the hill, but I am at the bottom of the hill.'  'OK sir we have the address.'  A few seconds later I heard the fire horn...  This took about 5 - 8 minutes... dang good thing it wasn't Summer or we would have had a mess!

Guess I need to familiarize myself with the area a bit better... good news is no one got hurt.

No update on the housing situation... realtor wasn't able to show us but one house yesterday and we can't make any offers till the offer we put in last week is recinded... started that process yesterday... I think the woods are looking rather inviting and I could just build a log cabin... wife told me I could do that if I want, but she isn't moving in with me!  Oh well... guess I have to help look for another house!

Hey!  They can't run trains on frozen steel rails!

Maybe Amtrak needs to hire some Model Railroaders to run that government agency!  I still think Amtrak would be more successful if they would break it up and remand passenger service back to the public RR companies.

Morning all.  33 degrees and rising.  Wind chill was suppose to be horrible.  JD windmill is not turning.  Could change anytime.  They had said not getting above freezing?  Maybe we repelled the Yankee cold invasion.  They will sneek it in anyway. Disapprove [V]  Getting prepared to go visit retired pilot friend.  Leaving tomorrow morning and go down for a visit.  Back Wednesday night.  Talking about visiting the Rockingham Depot this trip.  Going to do more shooting.  Got to run.  Have a good one.

Good morning from a depressed Chicago where it is -23 and I am a tad cold after walking my usual 20 blocks - don't tell anyone but I cheated by walking through as many building lobbies as I could... Most of the office staff is home 'sick' today. Our local elementary schools are closed but not the high schools - the daughter sure is disappointed but I am glad - it's supposed to be this cold all week...

I am not going to speak about The Game. Boy, I miss one day to festivate with the Bears and I have five pages to read this morn...  I think that is great!

Folks,

It was 4 degrees at my house at wakeup, and 62 in my basement trainroom.

I ran that K-Line B&O F7 ABA for a few minutes before I left for work, while drinking some hot coffee.

Great way to start the day!Thumbs Up [tup]

Craig, you certainly have your priorities right - a great way to begin the day or, come to think of it, continue through and end the day too.

Zero degrees this morning with some bad wind chills! But does anyone care? Not really. Let the Peyton and Colts bashers re-aim their sights towards some other athlete and team. I'm still waiting for my Browns to make an appearance but can enjoy this year's results just fine.

Hello, goodbye........

I completely agree, Craig, there's nothing finer than to see all lights turn on - the dim lights of town buildngs and distant Electric Park, green lights on the transformers and signals, and rotating beacon atop Mt. Seaman. Then ring the trolley bell twice and we're off. Got five running Saturday night with my youngest...

LOL!  no high blood preasure here!  I just find myself getting tired and less interested as this whole process plays out.

Wife doesn't like Cape Cods, and she wants something newer (1998 is her cut off)... my must haves:
1. Big Kitchen
2. No White Cabinets or Countertops
3. Large island in kitchen
4. Either a deck or patio
5. 2-car garage (3 would be a plus), and would also like area for 3-4 more cars (possibly with room for additional 2 - 3 car garage).
6. Either unfinished or paritially finished basement with room for game room, storage, and TRAIN ROOM
7. Nice sized Master Bath with large tub and shower

Wife wants a 'grand' foyer - why?  I have no idea... I keep telling her to wait for the next house because that one will be 100% custom!  I guess I could for go the huge train room and make something on the lines of 10x13 work...

We will find something sooner or later!
