Asheville was a nice town, but a little too poor for most Northern tastes.  We are more used to rich cities, such as Cleveland, Detroit, Buffalo and Gary.  I only saw one house in Asheville that I would consider living in, if I had to live in the South.  Big Smile [:D]

BTW, you are again wrong about the Chinese for New Years.  No one eats Chinese for New Years, we eat it on Christmas Eve.  Watch the movie again!!! Dunce [D)]

Oh yes some YoYos do.  The dogs don't get their Christmas as in the Movie.  They do it on purpose. Shock [:O]

BTW: you can not have my summer cottage, Biltmore.

Well we(everyone but me) had chillie and cornbread, and greenbeans with potatos I had 6 stinken diet shakesDead [xx(]

Normal Thanksgiving here consistist of a Turkey(sometimes deep fried) regular home made stuffing(Dads recipe)in turkey, a pan of cornbreadstuffing, a broccoli casorole cranberry sauce sweetpotatos(some times pie) and pumpkin pie and eggnog.

As for northerners eating chinese that is an anytime snackDinner [dinner]

There is a pizza buffet place called cicis and they have a mac&cheese pizza looks and sounds stupid but is very goodn how ever their spinach alfredo pizza is the best.

Afternoon Everyone!

Been a good day so far, except one tiney thing.... MY LIONEL 1950 CATALOG DIDNT COME IN! Well, I live in two houses, one near Savannah, and the other about 60 miles west of it, out in the county part of GA. We bought a piece of property at my new house about 6 years ago, and it had a small house that we stayed in once in a while. Well, we found a good Private Chrisitian School for me to go to, so I stopped going in my old town and started going up here. Well, my daddy owns a gas company down in Savannah, so I had my catalog delivered there, since he was coming up here today. He waited at the office till 2, but my catalog didnt come... However the tracking says out for delivery, so, it must be running late with all the Christmas delivieries.

CSXect, I wonder why?

Well, I spell spagehtii cooking, so I better get off to it!

Good evening everyone,

My back pain has gotten worse. The left side is killing whenever I breath in. I don't know if it has something to do with the hepititis A shot, and hopefully it doesn't.

I have no update on my grandmom, but I know that my sister is feeling better.

Have a good evening everyone.

Clerk at Town Hall was there sick as a dog yesterday.  Could not talk or hardly breath.  Sent her to Dr. and now she is home sick.  Guess who is getting hoarse and now getting it?

Colin, go to the Dr.  If its a muscle, he can give you a shot and kill the pain.  If it is a vertebra, you need something else like a Chiropractor.   Get fixed up or you will be sorry.  Prayers for your Grandmother.

I had a stop to make today that was way out in the country. Nice area, large horse farms, big estates, a lot of woods, etc. At dusk I came across a herd of deer (no bucks) with young ones eating along the side of the lane I was on. I pulled over next to them to watch, and was amazed they did not move away. A few stared at me, but most did not stop eating. Some were only 10-15 feet from the car, and I was able to watch them up close. I see why someone would enjoy being able to do this. Well...... I only know one special whistle besides the one I call the cat with, and since I started a stampede of epic proportions, I think that the "wolf whistle" was a poor choice on my part. It's just a thought, but you may want to try something else. Have a good evening.  Ken

HELLO TO ALL,

The mailman finally finished reading my CTT and I got to read pages 70-75,Congrats. very nice layout.

Brutus got ice cream today; banilla, chocolate, & for you butter p-can. I got butter p-kahn. I don't work at P & D anymore as my legs and lower back were hurting to much.so I decided enough. I do go to a great train store all three rail except for some Lionel Am Flyer. Called Wild Bills. He has a table, swizzle chairs, tv, train dvds, coffee cookies & cataloges. Help out when they get busy I've done pretty well selling as a none employee. The favors are returned when I want or need something.

I got the faucet put in but oh boy no fun doing those things anymore. A simple job never goes well.  A good evening to all,   Sir James

Brutus, Boy do I remember those Girls Scout days.  Our living room used to be half full of girl scout cookies.  Our eldest was a super salesgirl, she used to visit all the older farmers in the area that the other girls thought were old crabs, actually they were soft touches and she sold to them like crazy.

fife,

My appologies, when my CTT came, I glanced through it and promptly mislaid it.  Just found it this evening and finally read your article.  Great pictures and writing.  A fine layout.  I have a Sand Patch video that I bought at a show, Awesome area.

yea Brutus all the old one needed was a new cartridge but I bent the nut trying to get it off. it was froze tight. so replaced the whole thing and of course the new one had goofy mounting. It used a bolt washer & nut for mounting but the faucet pipes were in the way of the washer and a tiny nut no tool could reach. gadzukes.

John, looks like we posted over each other - yes, my daughter was the top seller, called all the aunts and cousins etc.  Plus, I just ate like half a pound of mixed nuts.  I didn't even share with Chewy!!!

Sir James, sorry I wasn't there with my buddy Jeff - he has every screwball tool known to man.  Any project he is on, he buys a new tool!  I'll bet he has some little offset doohicky that would have helped save your knuckles.  I usually lubricate new plumbing with generous clots of my blood Laugh [(-D]  Plus, my children have learned a lot of bad language from me when attempting to work on plumbing!  We have to tell them not to use the Daddy Words, then know better....  How pathetic am I?

This discussion comparing Northern and Southern cooking reminds me of an old joke that may explain why we southerners are so creative in the kitchen.

What's the real difference between a Yankee Zoo and a Southern Zoo?

On the cage, a Yankee Zoo will have the name of the animal and then the scientific name in Latin.

Whereas, a Southern Zoo will have the name of the animal and the recipe.....!

Hmm no what you mean about the new faucets or Taps as they are known over here. The new kitchen mixer taps have the fixing you discribe. Yes there is a special long reach socket tool to do up the nut. I saw the tool in plumbers merchant (trade store) the other week.

FIL was originally a plumber by trade. He and I run our own business but we specialise in industrial steam and stainless steel work. He does still keep his hand in on the domestic side for friends/family. Oh and he's very fussy when it comes to mixer taps! As he knows how tricky some are to fit.

Gamesroom update..Got the lights /fan in the shower last night.

Morning to All

Fife - no good displays in G'burg that I know of.  My Dad wanted me to go over to Marley Station  Mall to see a layout there, but I didn't get there last week.  Maybe some weeknd soon. train displays in Fire House are not as popular here as in Maryland.  Not sure if they are having the display at Manchester FD this year.  If I see the sign I'll let you know.

LAZ- hope you put one in your freezer this year.  This Saturday may be a good day.

Must get to work.  Lots to do. Busy all day yesterday. Got home exhausted. No time for trains. I still have not figured out the horn issue with my BEEP whether it is the sound kit or the transformer. Maybe this weekend or next. The Mrs. has plans both weekends, leaving me free to do what I want. (ie play in the train room) Hooray.

Have a great day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 46 degrees. Going up to a partly sunny 55.

Today is a less busy day. I have an errand to run and then I will spend some time running trains and working on the layout.  I need to get busy with the scenery.

Wife is improving each day. Foot hurts less. She is sleeping all night. One more follow up at the doctor, on Monday.

Dining car is waiting. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Overcast and 43 here int the Mid-Atlantic region.

jefelectric/sir james - Thank you both, very much.

Brutus - ANNE or SOPHIA...?

FELLOW FATHERS IN ARMS - (read on)

DATELINE - FIFEDOG'S HOUSE, somewhere in the MD Burbs.

Father of 4 had previously warned his princesses that taking the clothes that were in the washer/dryer out, without folding them and putting them away, would lead to their wardrobe adorning the grounds of our humble estate.  Yesterday, the father finds an obscene pile of towels and wash clothes (still a little damp), that were taken out of the dryer and placed in a heaping pile on the basment floor.  In the dryer were jeans, Aeropostle shirts, socks, and numerous frilly unmentionables.Banged Head [banghead]  The father, while humming JOHNNY MATHIS' It's beginning to look a lot like ChristmasWhistling [:-^],  proceeded to decorate the grounds with said items from dryer.  The undies were hung from the picket-gate with care, designer jeans and a polka-dot bra could be seen on the old scarecrow right there.  The trees, without leaves, now had color again,  and the pirate ship, yes the pirate ship, had sails in the wind.Pirate [oX)]

Quite pleased with his effortsApprove [^], the father went off to work, wishing he could be there to see the princesses' faces as their scholl bus pulled up.Laugh [(-D]

You know this did not end well...read on.

At 2315 hours, the father arrived home to see that Fifey-s titey-whities were now adorning the same pirate shipShock [:O], treesShock [:O], garageShock [:O], and scarecrowShock [:O].  And someone went for the jugular, when they placed the father's sacred Hawaiian shirt (you know, the one with the dancing hula-girls all over it) on the scarecrow outside (I sensed Fifey's-wifey's influence somewhere there)Disapprove [V].

So, what did we learn?  I, for one, learned how to unite my family in a common cause.Dunce [D)]

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the low 40s.  (For the newcomers to the forum, the preceding acronym stands for "It is another beautiful sunny day in south eastern Indiana".  It rained so seldom this summer that I got tired of typing it out every day.)  I mowed leaves up for the last time last night.  There were only two bags worth, but I wanted to get them up before the weather turned really bad.  My dad and I also worked on the layout for the historical society.  I did not go to the YMCA for once due to the leave work and other errands I was doing.  There were bran muffins on the dining car this morning from "Points East", and I saw a CSX train rolling by the parking lot this morning.  Chuck, I am glad to hear your wife is doing better.  Tmcc man, take care of yourself and hope the rest of ills in your family go away soon.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
