Jim,
Here are the pics. BTW, I got your PM, thanks for the tip.
Very nice pics of your loco's, James T!
Mitch, Fifedog, John F and 88 -- Turns out they wanted to train me to be a trainer for 10 days in Baltimore, then send me to ??? for 3.5 weeks at a time? I would be gone for 2 plus months a year for no more pay. I told boss' boss that I'll be glad to go get training and then do training locally, or do a week away here and there, but nearly a month at a time is just too much! One guy in our office is doing it and he's actually been gone about every other month for the past year - Sorry - hope to catch up to you all next year in York though, depending on finances.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

RT,
Keep an eye on ebay. These shells go across the block all the time. Believe me, my 2343s looked like they came from a junk bin when I bought them. It wasn't hard or expensive to get the shell I needed, or the detail parts from our friend Jeff.
Sir James and John S, we have some goodies here - one donut left (pink ribbon day at the store so it's with pink icing, but tastes like chocolate) as well as several types of chips, popcorn or icecream! Chewy is getting a little thin lately!
WOW, went to sleep holding laptop and reading posts [how dull????]. NO, not dull but tired. Was waiting for Californicatrion to come on. Woke up and it had just gone off. G

Morning:
Doug: Count me in! I simply don't have the room to work an n-gauge into this year's Christmas layout...So a small trolly would be wonderful! Please provide a recommendation, I'm thinking point to point or maybe a O-27 loop around the outside. Not crazy about the Lionel trolleys. I've been seeing the Thomas sets for $129.
Sir James: I've been good ... so far. I let a 182 crane go and a 1688... Really hard not to pick up the 1688. I did pick-up a flat car with some Kenworths.
Jumijo: How's the teefers?
Ran trains with the girls yesterday...twice! What is it with kids and having to touch moving objects??? Oldest likes to open and close boxcar doors as they go by, and unload the milk cans. Only one big derailment, oldest put half the herd on its side right off the tracks. I was having so much fun with them it didn't matter that they were two of the PW milk cars, and the new 6464 Monon.
Kurt
Good morning from New England, where another picture postcard weather day is in store. High expected for today is 64. Nice walking weather (if I can walk - my back is killing me).
I brought a heating pad to work today for my back. With the cool weather comes the aches and pains of a man my age.
Jim T. - those 2343s are gorgeous! Very, very, very nice! I hope they run as well as they look. I USED to have the finest set on the forum! Thanks for posting those photos. What a treat!
RT, buy yourself some new shells on Ebay. You don't have to buy them both at once. Buy one, then get another when you have the money, honey. Just make sure the decals match (red or black).
Kurt, the teefers are fine. I don't, I say I don't have the best looking choppers, but they are holding up very well. And that hygenist! Liz - She's a doll! At one point she stopped and asked me if I was doing ok. I looked at her and those huge brown eyes and a face wrapped in long, dark hair and said, "oh yeah"! I might start eating rocks in hopes of chipping a tooth just to go see her again.
Obviously you are not yelling at or hitting your girls enough if they are messing with your trains when they are moving. Go all psycho on them once or twice and that behavior will stop.
My kids went out for dinner last night with their grandparents and I had the place all to myself for a few hours. I missed them!
Mama Mia, Jim, those are nice F3s!

I think a package from the MD area is expected today... I can't believe Brent fell for the old "I'll fix your trains for free scam! HA HA!! What a maroon! What a nin-cow-poop!
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 50 degrees. Sun is trying to shine. Going up to 76 today, with a chance of showers.
Today, I have a few errands to run and then this afternoon, I will run trains for awhile. Need to relax. Been busy on all kinds of projects. Need to get busy with layout. Aches and pains are a daily thing, anymore. As the weather gets colder. I can feel it more.
Indians won last night. Won 2 games to Red Sox 1. Game 4 tonite.
Dining car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
It is raining in SE Indiana with temps rising to the 70s today. Doug, thank you for the information about the movie. I like the saga of the beavers and the deer as there is nothing better than a deer beaver story (oops, did I pull a jumijo there?). Dbaker, I am glad you are still among the living (re: the railroad "expansion"). Last night was busy as I did 30 minutes of trackwork at the YMCA (and set a new personal best for that time frame). My wife and I helped Lucas with his English paper. If he gets a C, that will be good enough. Watched Helio on "Dancing with the Stars". Lucas brought home a copy of the Columbus paper, which had a picture of yours truly talking to Sarah Fisher. That made it a good night.
The dining car had just the usual fare from "Points East". Has anybody heard anything about the new MTH Tinplate catalog? I wonder if they are even making one this year. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good morning fellas. Just catching up on a couple of pages since I left for Durango, Colorado last Thursday. I just wanted to say that the Durango & Silverton narrow guage RR is all that everyone told me it would be. I took some really great photos and video. I met some good people along the way as well. It was a really great trip. I spent most of the time hanging out of the side of the open gondola and my face was covered in soot from the steam engine. It was a great souvenier. Colorado sure is a pretty state.
Ohio seems to be a very "sporty" state right now. Now if our hockey team woud get on a winning streak!
Wes
Fife - yes yesterday was VERY slow... Then I got home and was I ever paid back for making fun of The Chief! I got the soffets done for the vanity lights. Then I started on the toilet room... I started to remove the toilet and when I removed the first flange screw everything looked OK, then I went to the other side and found a #14 phillips head screw getting worried here, this is NEVER a good sign. Removed the screw and pulled out the toilet, take toilet to storage room, get back and look at floor... wet plywood around flange... bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad sign. So I start removing tile and it just pops out... thinkset no longer holding... now I have a towel stuffed down the drain to prevent sewage odors from coming into the room and I smell something... something very nasty... start looking around and notice something black on the drywall behind the toilet... yep black mold! Then I notice a small puddle of water around the supply line... down to the basement, turn off water, cut line, install CPVC cap... continue popping out tile... 2 hours later, turn on water - no leaks... so now I have to rip out the plywood underlayment and see what I'm dealing with... hopefully I don't have to rip out the subfloor, but if I do it is no biggie because I am now going to reposition the shutoff valve and will probably have to replace the toilet drain and flange. So my goal of tiling the tub tonight is shot and I'm now 6 days behind schedule... When I was staring at the floor last night, Susan came up behind me, gave me a hug, and said, 'It is a little set back, calm down and think it through and you'll be fine. So what if we can't use the toilet room this weekend - there are 3 others in the house, just aim to get the main room done.'Didn't do much for my irritation at the sloppy plumbing job, but it did help me to calm down and relax so I could sleep last night...OH - also fixed my computer last night... seems Norton doesn't provide protection against spyware/adware and I got nailed, installed Spyware Detector and it zapped everything and now my computer is faster than ever! Downloading at 9Mbps and uploading at 2.5Mbps!

Skinamax and HBO After Dark both show a lot of "Dear Beaver" stories, Mike. Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more, say no more...
Jim A.
Thanks for the compliments. But, I think that yours have mine beat by a long shot. I am working on getting the 2530 series aluminum cars; two down, one to go.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Checked Lionel's website this morning. They will be demonstrating the Legacy Command System at York. Looking forward to reports from the "Yorkies" who are lucky enough to attend.
Got speaker wire at Radio Shack yeterday to rewire my 282 crane. Now to find time to do it and finish laying track for crane to ride on. Had a spare piece of Gargraves S gauge track, cut the wooden ties and now have two flex track rails to lay around the curve where the crane will be!

With all of the advice that I got from people here, I overdressed a little, and was warm. It was 32 degress when I woke up to make the drive down out the mountain into Durango that morning. It was just a perfect day. By 5pm, I was down to a long sleeve Tshirt. I have 2.5Gb of pictures and video to go through and post, so stay tuned. I was looking through them last night and my wife commented on how some of them look like a calendar picture. When there is that much awesome scenery in one photo, it's hard not to get good pictures.

Thanks MEL,
I'll check it out. LEGACY that is.
Morning All - The countdown is on, initial activities well underway I'm sure. Lists are being developed, funds being collected, all the recycling centers have been visited. Roy is probably on the way. Extemely envious, I think it was a mistake to go this past spring, now I know what I'm missing. Gotta go again!!See about putting together a shopping list for John to fill. Enough on York...... Hope everyone has a GREAT time !!!
Oh, thinking about it, I called Just Trains this morning to confirm all the information I had on file with them is still valid. I anticipate shipping to begin the end of the month on the Big Boy, maybe even with Legacy.
Talked to John last night, he was calling to check on my layout expansion plans and how they were working. I had to inform him about the change in direction. Enjoyed our conversation.
Post Comments:
Roy, Know you have been real busy, but the concern was related to my post on pg 600, regarding my layout expansion plans. BTW Hope your week isn't to stressful, give my best to George, (still love the Mikado).
Jim T -Those pics are great of the 2343's, are they running as good as they look?
Jim F - Definetly stay away from all those trips, they are really hard on everyone! Just ask Marty and Roy. When I spent a month in Ariz last year is was way too long. It felt like I didn't have a life. And what would happen to Chewy????
Doug - Hope you have great success with the Thomas acquistions, must be for your youngest. I too see how some of Chris's friends parents treat the kids, and it really makes me cringe. Most of all, the lack of involvement and it reflects in the kids attitudes, trying to get attention anyway they can. Too bad there isn't some parent qualification requirements. Just look at the advice Jumijo gave Kurt on raising kids, now that is parenting!
Laz - I will be watching for you at York, I'll buy you dinner when I see you!
Mike C - I'm sure Lucas appreciates your help, that's great. I would expect MTH have a catalog announcement for Tinplate this week.
Wes- Sounds like a great trip! How about a thread with pictures?
Brent - Now your getting the hang of it!!! Simple jobs are not suppose to be simple, the ratio of planning hours to actual hours is suppose to be 12-14:1, Only thing is, you can't fix other stuff when you run into unexpected tasks. The idea is that everything gets delayed by a factor of 2.
Now I know whats going on with Jumijo and Chief, they are up late at night watching Skinamax and HBO After Dark, that explains falling asleep in the chair and all the reclinerizing.
Keith, Keep up the great posts, really enjoy them, glad to see your back to posting more.
Chief, BTW hows things going with the neighbor??
Time to get to work, going to take a bunch of 2006 and 2007 catalogs and just browse, maybe cut the pictures out and spread them around and plan a psuedo York experience.
Don

Well, there goes another set of trains lost.
Morning. Been watering. Neighbor suddenly turned up his stero and started shouting out the window. Then he called Town Hall and reported I was wtering after 10:00 AM [at 10:03]. Town Hall called and said, "You've got a well don't you?" I said, "Yes." I do have one. I can tell he is not doing good as he has this, I'm mad and stomping determined walk. Off to Dr. to get flu shot this PM. Town Board Meeting tonight. May hit the State Fair while I am 5 blocks away at Dr's office. Wife left free ticket and special lot parking pass. If she can get there in a timely manner, I will go. She has to work the USDA booth tonight. Has worked fair every day but Saturday. Tiring but lots of comptime to take off during Christmas. That way, when she retires last of Dec., she gets paid for all her vacation accumilated. No scenery painting today. Later.
MORNING ALL,
I saw and ran Lionels BigBoy and legacy in Aug. it is nice, However five of their employes solomly swore the BigBoy would be shipped at the end of Aug. of course never happened. So don't put much into what they say as shipping dates
Kurt- You were asking about electronic eunits,Dallee electronics in Pa. makes a made in USA two types, also Williams sold them but you'd have to find a parts dealer now.

Cool and overcast in Southern Ohio.
Just got back from taking grandkids to school and getting a haircut. Off today and bride working 12-hour dayshift at the hospital.
Jim F-For several years I was a Instructional Technologist (fancy name for a trainer) but it was in one location. You make a lot of contacts in the training world. I have been turning down a job with one outfit for four years because of the travel. I can retire with full benefits in 18 months. After that I may go the contract trainer route, because our plant is going to be ramping up a new process that I’m working on now and the contractor will be working at the plant where I am now working on that process. Going the contract trainer route I can make about 30% more than I’m now making, and have the retirement benefits. What I’m saying is training is a great field to get into. Especially HazMat, Incident Command, Emergency Preparedness, RadCon specialties.
Chuck-Tried Advil for the aches? When weather turns cold and the knees start to keep me up at night the Advil helps knock the edge off.
Jim-Good looking hygienists defiantly would make the dentist visit more pleasurable.
Brent-About half the toilets I’ve pulled ended up needing flooring work done, so I go in expecting the worse. Sounds like you’re repairing it the right way. If I may suggest when you replace the wax ring get the ones with the sleeve, less prone to leakage.
Doug- Your daughter’s friend is an unfortunate statistic. I was reading something the other day about causal effects of troubled kids, the lack of a positive male figure in the kid’s life has negative effects, and the effect is more pronounced in girls than boys. Even if you and your family can be a hopeful sign it would be good for the girl. I will pray for her and your family.
Need to complete some homework for class this weekend, and then work on forms. Kind of wish it would rain to have an excuse to work on the layout some.
Need to go. May God bless
Jim
