Morning.  Ready to go up staris and work on wiring.  Want to pack a box and ship to some Yank up Nawth.  Got to install printer.  Read instructions [all 6 of them].  Easy if it goes like I read them.  Might bring down Alison's old computer center and exchange for mine.  Mine has add-ons to accommodate all the equipment.  I see our old buddy is up to his old tricks.  Best to ignore the S--.  Off to work on the RR.

About to forget something very important:

CONGRATS KURT.

Congatulations Kurt!  I may have to pull out one of those Cubans I got last year when I was there.

I am looking forward to tomorrow when Kate and I will be heading off to Buckeye's house in Columbus to see a Buffalo Sabres game.  We will hopefully get to visit a good German restaurant too.  The weather report for the area east of Cleveland looks a little bad but we should be ok if we take our time.

 Have a good day everyone.

Congrats, Kurt!!!

Good morning everyone,

I finished 2 exams earlier today, and just got home after missing the bus. I have 1 more exam tomorrow, and then I am finished. We are supposed to get snow here, and it is supposed to get very cold in the next few hours.

Mike C thanks. How had soccer been? I haven't played in a while, and I think I will have to join indoor next year. That way I can stay in shape all year round.

Long day today. Been stirring the pot a bit on OGR. Over there I'm seen as an agitator. Here I'm just a PITA!

I read David's article in OGR 220 last night. You're a talented guy, David!

I went to the trainstation.com to see what the street prices and delivery dates would be on the new Lionel merchandise. Interesting stuff. I'm going to have to start putting money away for all the things I want. Oh, wait - John S. is a millionaire. Maybe he will loan me some money . . . John?

I don't think we ever had a thread lock problem before he came here, Jim. The other forums have these problems, but we are (were?) lucky. We were all happy, but he had to barge right in and stir everything up.

Speaking of stirring things up, Colin. I was at the hardware store last weekend and asked the salesman to mix me up a gallon of black and white spotted latex paint. He looked at me like I was the first person who ever asked for that. Must have been a new guy.

Afternoon all, Rang lionel to order a American spec. power supply for my command base. I bought my command set here in the UK and the orignal supply had been replaced with a UK 50Hz wall wart. I think its causing problems running track power at 60Hz and the command signal at 50Hz. Better to run full US spec.Smile [:)]

Had trouble trying to order online so gave Lionel a call. Have to say the customer care was very good and friendly.

Have a good day

Nick

P.S. Best Regards and congratulations to Kurt & Family

Anybody else having shipping problems with sellers from ebay recently or is it just my luck of the draw? I've had 2 in the past month send my package parcel post when I requested and payed for priority mail . Both times its only about $0.85 different in cost but for me to get it its like 2 weeks instead of 3 days (gets to baltimore and falls into a pit basicly (I'm told) )parcel post just gets hung up there .

Reggie, January is a great month for a birthday!  Please let us know and post photos when she arrives!  I think you and Kurt should both get the K-Line "It's A Girl" cars that Lionel has in the catalogs.

Great news, Kurt. Get the new It's a Girl car - complete with photo slide. It's in either the new Lionel or K-Line catalog! Daughters are wonderful - exasperating but wonderful - 16 years ago this July, we were fortunate to adopt ours in Peru.

I wish I understood wiring these accessories better. Found my stash of stained coffee stirrers so I am musing on working up a trolley barn.

What is David's article in OGR about, Jim?

Hello all,

I am new to this thread but not the forum.  I am located SW of Houston, TX and am an operator not a collector.  I have an L shaped 36" wide layout along two sides of my upstairs game room.  The layout is about a year old, maybe two.  I like to build layouts but am not very good at it yet.  This Christmas I assembled my first Christmas layout that was more than just a loop.  It had two levels and a reverse loop with crossover.  Everyone loved it.  This week I finally wired up my K-line saw mill.  That was easy AFTER I FOUND THE DIRECTIONS!  I also wired up my Lionel loading platform (the guys mainly just twirl).  I still need to wire my 1957 ice loader, diesel shed horn, gateman, oil derrick, diesel fuel station, and rotating beacon.  I am also working on a mountain layout (think Polar Express).  I run whatever I like no matter who makes it.... when I can find it at a decent price!

 That's about all!

Evening all.  Busy day today too.  Went outside and filled around the holes drilled for conduit with mortar repair in a caulking tube.  Good stuff.  ITs mortar with something added.  Then got on ladder and batched some cracks in the mortar in this 67 year old house.  Wind got to really blowing and turned cold.  Came in for lunch at 1.  Got to trainroom at 2.  Rewired all the track sections.  Each loop and all the sidings are on the flush binding posts.  Each loops has its own PW ZW and the sidings combined on a PW ZW.  Switch power and accessories [all two I have going right now] are on a KW.

Are we at war?  I've got F15's constantly flying in what is commercial air space.  Been coming over for an hour or so now.   We have a military air corridor over Roslesville but ehse are flying slow in what the commercial airliners use.  HUMMM

Reggie and wife, good luck on that delivery.

Time to eat.

Wow!  I had to go back 3 pages to find my last post.

 Good evening everyone.

Congratulations Kurt!!! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Jim Fortner, You can get those lamps/jewels from Lionel parts dept.  Order extra as they have a habit of falling out.

Chief, It sure sounds like you should not lack for power on the layout.

We are going to a birthday party for our soon to be 4 year old granddaughter tomorrow evening.  Jean is making her a TRAIN cake.  I will post a picture, if I don't forget, when it is done.  BTW our local library now loans out Wilton cake pans, just like books.  She did a butterfly for another granddaughter a while back.

It is to be a real cold one tonight, may get to single digits.

Stay warm eveyone,

Chief, we have had a lot of activity as well.  Mostly heavy military Choppers and the local NS yard has had a number of military trains coming up from the Marine base.  You may be on to something.

Congratulations Kurt!  Hang in there Reggie - it seems like it takes them forever to arrive and then the next thing you know they are in school and picking out dresses and stuff!  I'm getting my kids into the trains as much as I can - they like to work the accessories and stuff!

Thanks RT and John - made an order today from ttender.  Also ordered springs and rivets for my old 3461 couplers.  He thinks he has the right lanterns - if not, I'll call Lionel!

Welcome to the 'Pot Jim H.  These are some great guys in here and lots of good fellowship and information.  My wife says I'm turning into an old lady, 'cause I'm always telling here what you guys are up to!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Thor and John Baker,

Recently ran across the following;

European English

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl

Good evening,

I just got back from grocery shopping with my mom. Chief, are they sending the 20,000 (I think that's the number?) troops over? If so, I guess that the military is loading up tanks and other supplies to be shipped over. They are probably going to be loaded on planes at other location.
