We had a production meeting about mistakes being made by both old and new employees, after the meeting the Boss, she talked to each of us individualy and when she caught up to me on my lunch time she said she had very little to say to meConfused [%-)]

She said mistake wise I am doing great for a newbie but I need to increase my speed on one particular task(others who are faster at it are making the same mistakes over and over)Banged Head [banghead]

Did some major rethinking about painting my house it is cheap but time consuming, will look for siding the same color as the paint I used (November blue and white) it kinda looks like a plasticville house color wise. Thought about Nature stone or beauty stone for basement floor but indoor carpet would probably be a better choice.

The 2oth issue of CTT is great by the wayThumbs Up [tup]

Cheif here in the south end of Columbus we have a lot of critters running the streets, possums, racoons that live in the storm sewers, rabbits from out of the few fields left in the area and the occausinal deer that has got lost. Oh yea the annoying neigbours birds he has a dozen bird feeders on the front porch and keeps pidgeons and a Bob white which is in a cage and is kinda cool to listen to.

Thanks Chief, here is a picture of mine and the pic I sent to CTT.  They may of need a cleaner background, but in the mag pic they are still calling the #8 transformer an 8B; there is a difference.

John Baker - TOOTH-HURTY!  Dr. Nixon?  Watch out if his nurse is named G. Gordon Liddy!  You might come home with a BUG!  Laugh [(-D]

Mel, just gotta say I like your layout a lot and can't wait to watch the progress.

John S - you wrote "Well, tomorrow night I go on 3rd. trick."  What's "trick" mean?  If Chief is getting your popcorn on the way to work, then you can stop by here and get some desert on the way back!  Sir James left you some cupcakes.

Well, stopped at the Chevy dealer this morning to check my check engine light (again).  They ran a diagnostic and said it's the fuel cap, again.  The mechanic said it should be replaced (my kind of mechanic!) and had them do a ticket on it.  They had to get the replacement in, so I got to work an hour late and took off an hour early so I could make it in time.  Only took 5 minutes to replace and was free!  Hopefully this does the job.  No big deal really, just annoying.

Got home a little early, so put blue tape on the basement vinyl window inserts and then painted 2 of the metal frames.  Wife picked out a slightly brighter shade of brown to go over the primer.  Still have 2 left to paint, but putting the blue tape on took a while.  I'll get it done tomorrow I guess.

Jim (SP) cool project!  I just got my CTT today, still need to check it out.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

John- the cupcakes are fresh, hope you like them without frosting as it was too much temptation. I just had to do it.

Lots of people mending, seems like quite a bit for just a small group, but the church folks seem to have new events on a weekly basis, so I guess we are running normal.I hope everyone is doing better.              Nitey nite, Sir James

Hello everybody,

Hard day today.Sigh [sigh] Cleaning out the basement. Trying to get rid of some stuff. Finished they back of it and now I'm gonna try to do the front tommorow. It's mainly trying to striaghtin up the trains and the little guys old toys and stuff for the new girl.

Anyway went for a ultrsound on Tuesday. It's still gonna be a girl. I think we finally picked a name. It sounds like we are going with Jolena Rose. My wife says its after me cause if it was a boy it was going to be Joseph. So I still get to call somebody Joey after myself.Wink [;)] She is due on Nov 20th and I can't wait. Good thing is I have an excuse to not have Dinner [dinner]Thanksgiving here. SoapBox [soapbox]I'll probably hear it from the family I'm just not a holiday kind of guy. I think everyone forgot the real meaning of the holidays. Everything is to commercial.

So everybody have a good weekend.

PhilaKnight, we have been doing about the same thing.  I have been cleaning out the spare room where the Carpet Central use to run.  Took the straight sections of tublar and screwed it down to the shelves I bulit under the backroom layout.  Then moved some of the rolling stock from the room [some were in boxes never opened and some stored] and placed it on the track.  You know you have too many TT Piggybacks when the layout is full and your spares take up a lot of your shelving.  Those buggers are hard to get under there as the front trucks want to turn sideways and the middle one goes crazy.  Couple them together and I can get two "sets" on one track.  Anyone with old spare tublar, let me know.  I will need more.

Good night.

PhilaKnight

I know what you mean about Thanksgiving.  IT has been a tradition for ALL of my brides family to come to our house for dinner.  Last year there were a high of 36 at one point with others filtering in and out.  What I become most thankful for is when they leave.  Very seldom does anyone help with the clean up or repair of things that inevidibly get broke.

CSK John - You workin' tonight?  I am 6 and 1/2 hours to go.

May God bless

Jim

Morning to All.

Put a fresh pot on for all of the guys working third trick. Gotta keep them awake.

Been away since Monday. Spent Tuesday on the water with a friend. We were crabbing and caught about 5 dozen, then steamed them for lunch...yummy. Worked Wednesday and then Thursday watched my nephew again as my folks are still out of town. A ten month old will wear you out when you are not used to chasing them around. Had dinner with sister and BIL and then came home. Didn't get in until after 9:00. Going back to work today to rest up....

Fife & 88 - been thinking about the hitting the Arbutus show. Supposed to be at my Mom's that day for a family dinner. Will have to see if the times align.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy, 54 degrees. Going up to a sunny 84, today.

Today is a busy day. I have some chores to do around the house. I have to check out the house A/C system. Seems to be a slight problem with the temperature. I hope it isn't serious. I may have to call in a service man. There's a local guy that will give free estimates. Does good work. No time for trains today.

Well, Dining Car is here. It's a Cheerios day. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again.  It is amazing what difference a couple of days can make.  After Tuesday's game, I really did not think the boys' team would be able to make a creditable effort on the field.  Thursday they played their best game of the year, losing 1-0 to a state ranked team with the only goal being off a corner kick.  The boys had several scoring opportunities and stayed in the game until the very end, but just could not convert.  If they bring the same intensity to the last four games, they should win all four of their last games.  "My" soccer girls did not do badly either as they got a tie on the road.  Both teams go on the road for a double-header Saturday while I am reffing the youth games.

My wife has been getting a lot days at subbing, which is most unexpected, but nice.  I did track work at the YMCA, and read some of the November CTT.  The color ads are NICE.  There was a little extra on the dining car from "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day, and I almost forgot to mention Jim's transformer tip on page 31 of the new CTT.  Very nice!

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

It's been a busy week for me; I hosted a conference which concluded yesterday.  Visitors to Kansas City loved it, and I of course found opportunity to take groups to Union Station for fine dinners. The G-gauge club already has their Christmas layout up-and-running, although all decoration isn't in place yet. The reason for the early installation is work being done on the sub-basement level of the station where the have their train set up.

Although this expansive layout (about 5 parallels on the main line in a huge U-shape with numerous upper level track) is primarily G, there is also an O system, and an S system within it. The Christmas layout is a popular thing to see, and a Kansas City train expo is scheduled for October 13-14th at Union Station which will complement this display.

And, if you go to a certain spot in the Station you get a nice above-the-tracks view of the rail traffic coming through the station (which is heavy), including an end on view of the Santa Fe Junction "Argentine Flyover" 3-level which often has 3-4, and sometime 5 trains intertwining at once.

Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where it is Homecoming weekend at our daughter's high school - parade today, big game tonight for the as-yet-undefeated football team and big dance tomorrow evening with a house full of hungry teens beforehand. I may retreat to the basement after work today.  Nice to see everyone.

MORNING COFFEE POTTERS

Folks going every which way this morning.  We are expecting 85 today but won't be many of those left. I haven't been away from the house since Mon. so don't know latest gas prices but we sure have higher than most other states. I knew someone would notice the frosting missing on those cupcakes but I just couldn't help myself, they looked good."the devil made me do it".not my fault.

Ive been offered a ride to York, but passed as I really don't have anything on my want list and we have a couple of good shows locally although not anything compared to York. So the expense of going can be used to buy something here. As for me;we all know it takes a while to  get rid of a cold and thats where I am at, still feel yucky but waiting for tomorrow.

I just had a very pleasant conversation with Doug Murphy regarding all things trains. Doug will be very pleased to see what Atlas Industrial Rail is offering when he gets his new CTT! Doug, remember to print out that decal artwork and see how it fits on your rail zep. I'll size it down if need be.

Oh, and I see where CTT got sick of using Rebel gray in their advertsing and went to full color. A master stroke.

Friday afternoon in Jax, FL. Weather radio went off at 1:30 AM this morning-severe thunderstorm warning. 3:30-4:30 AM - lightning and thunder that wouldn't quit. Shook the house several times. Didn't get much sleep as a result. Bright sunshine today. Don't know whether we will dry out or not. Hard rains all week.

Question: Is there a software package for designing train layouts for Lionel O gauge track and accessories?

After my morning post I got very busy at work with the post-op discussion with staff.  Outside the day warmed up, way up (90 degrees and humid). It is now 2:30 pm; I am home for the day and will begin prepariing for a meeting at Union Station tomorrow.  I am involved with the organization which is spearheading an effort to expand Amtrak service in Kansas by extending the Heartland Flyer, from Oklahoma City to Kansas City. We're working on the legislative agenda which is a companion to a series of public and legislative meetings that have already begun in Olahoma and Kansas.

Evening all.  Pretty good meeting with School Board members and Schools staff.  Little bump in with Town Manager [who sometimes thinks he is Mayor].  Now to rest.  Did run trains.  Something strange and has never run on the Roseyville Div of the NS.  Some how Santa Fe F3's and the passenger cars got lost and are running through the Division.  HUMM.  Will have to get a photo of that.  Later
