Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. Spent the day Sunday raiding the northern Kentucky border with the family and some friends from the Chicago area. After a successful incursion, we made our way safely home to watch the IRL race on tape. Saw where Danica was 2nd and Darren Manning was fourth. Sarah got punted by an impatient Sam Hornish and the Penske boys made it two for two when Helio wacked Scheckter. Took it easy today and caught up on some eBay dealings. The dining car has had a lot of variety lately with bran muffins yesterday and bacon and biscuits today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Oh yea, Happy Labor Day!
Ran a load of stuff up to Goodwill. Then, replaced the light switch in the garage with an automatic one - motion activated - and set it for 15 minutes. Works great! Then finished cleaning the window frames and scrubbed down the bed of the truck (Linex Liner) with Simple Green. Got everything nice and clean - good stuff. While that was drying, I caulked some concrete cracks in the walkway, killed a tube and quit cause my back was getting sore bent over so much. Checked and the frames are still wet - finally figured it out that some water is draining back out from around the windows and from behind the frames. Checked inside and no water except one little drip - no big deal and expected with the caulk removed and spraying a hose right at it. So, no priming today I guess. I sprayed the bedliner with STP version of Armor All which was recomended by the Linex guy. Guess I'll put the Rustoleum primer on tomorrow night after work. Should only take a couple hours. Gonna go out to eat with the wife and kids shortly - I am starvin', Marvin!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all.
Me and the kids had a nice day. They wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese, so I took them. Then we headed to the book store, back home for a quick shower, then off to a cookout. We just got back, I got the kids bathed, and now we are all relaxing, waiting for wifey to come home from work.
The book store had a copy of D. Doyle's pre war book. It was calling me to buy it, but the kids got books instead. I also passed up Yaz' new book...
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. Back to work tomorrow!

Good Evening Everyone !! Hope eveyone's Labor Day was good !!
Doug : I hope your son's friend heels fast too.
RT : I got an email similar to yours that I didn't open also about Paypal. Sent it right to the Spoof Dept. !! Been about 6 months since I made a purchase on E-bay, so I knew it had to be a fake.
Gosh !! I looked all around the airshow for Buckeye today, no Buckeye !! I saw The Chief's favorite Continental airliner there & searched it to see if he had Buckeye tied up in there, but I didn't see him or The Chief !!
Buckeye : send up some smoke signals & we'll come & rescue you !!
Well, actually the airshow wasn't anything like past ones I've attended years ago. A lot less planes thought the few there were good performers including The Thunderbirds. We were 2 hours getting out of the parking lot.
Thanks, John
Everybody made it back from KC a-ok! Went out to eat at Culvers There was a family sitting outside with their Parrot! They were feeding it chicken nuggets There was also a family with two Shih Tzu dogs that were eating frozen custard!
Still have some Brownies left! John???

Go to your local battery store and get a Battery Tender. Install it and keep it plugged in to your battery while your bike is not being ridden. Will solve your porblem. You've probably abused the battery already. Also get one for your riding lawnmower and etc.

Thought all those New England Yankees used GOOD English. Well, guess us poor Southerners are not he only ones to mess it up.
Worked on the backroom layout all afternoon and some this evening. Watched the Closer [two of them] and Saving Grace with the wife. Now off to bed. BTW John: ate all the popcorn again. BUCKEYE who? Also heard a loud bang explosion about Ohizo way.
Goooood night.
This server needs to be fixed!!!! Held 5 bars and would not go any farther. Had to repost after 5 minutes.

Chief,
I know it's one of those things I keep putting off. While restoring the bike I negleted the battery and let it die once or twice. Can only blame myself. Been riding back and forth to work so it's staying charged. If I let it sit for a couple of days it goes low. Anyway it's 3 years old time for a new one. Last one lasted me about 4or 5 years but I rode the crap out of the bike. Was a Interstate Battery
Anyway quiet today at work. Nothing good happened. Except saw what looked like a SD-40 still in Con-Rail colors. Looked pretty clean. They must of kept her in the garage.
Hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!!
It sure has been HOT here, 108 on the patio. Worked in train room most of the weekend. Did get the TRACK DOWN ! All of it!!!
So now the fun part, wiring! I enjoy that part the most.
Btw, in todays paper a couple of interesting facts about the race in Fopmona yesterday.
Attendance 72,000, lower than normal.
Approximately 1,000 people treated for heat related issues.
OVER 500,000 bottles of water sold at $5.00 each. Doesn't count all the ones given away at the Hospitality Suites.
Who knows how much beer and soda.
This is the first race out there I've missed in probably 6 years, but just WAY to hot to sit out there in the sun!
Don
Good Morning all. Well, it is back to work. Went out shopping with the family. Ended up spending close to $3000.00 on a LCD-TV, home theater system and then had to get a new entertainment center. Just think how many things that would have bought out of the new catalog!
Anyway, wife is happy, and I think this lifts train restriction a little
An early morning as have a few cases to take care of. Hope everyone didn't get too lazy and can't return to the grind.
Have a good day.

Good morning from New England where the day promises to be a warm one.
Speaking of warm, one of my diesels was smoking great last night. Only trouble is, it isn't supposed to smoke at all!!! The pick up roller was very hot as well. Will bring it in for servicing today after work. I opened the shell and saw no signs of melted wire insulation.
Wifey finally got home around 9pm last night. Two little boys were playing at a school and a big steel fence fell on them. My wife handled the cases. One didn't make it. Poor kid.
Back to work and my regular routine. Time for tea. I hope everyone has a good day.
Anyone else ever get a good dose of poison oak or ivy?
BB the beagle got off her leash and chased some rabbits into a thicket that was so thick I had to pull out the vines and stuff to get her as she was busy trying to dig the rabbit out of its hole in the thicket.
Came down with contact dermatitus, a fancy name for rashes caused by the poison. Cream and medicine prescribed. The meds made me sleep all Labor Day weekend practically.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear, sunny 57 degrees. Going up to 86 today, with sunshine all day. Another hot one.
Today, I have some errands to run and a few things to do around the house. Seems like a Monday. Got all the yard work done. Was a quiet weekend. I hope everyone enjoyed theirs. I am trying to enjoy, what's left of the summer. Slowly slipping away.
Question of the day.....Where is Buckeye ?????
Not much going on train wise. Still need to make some time for the train room. Probably needs a good cleaning again.
Well, Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s again. I am in heaven the next three days as the high school kids have three home games in a row against beatable teams. The only fly in the ointment is trying to avoid the traffic hassles due to the preparations for the Colts game Thursday night. The dining car was loaded down with bran muffins this morning as it headed to "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Hope all had a nice Labor Day. 4 out of 5 children kept me from enjoying my day.
jaabat - That's so sad. Guess I wasn't having as bad a day as I thought...
David, I contracted it last summer. Get yourself some IvyDry or Anti-Itch Gel. Both of those are excellent at stopping the itchies. Those are brand names, not something I just made up. My rash lasted about 2 weeks. The meds stopped it cold, but did make me sleepy as well. Nothing wrong with catching up on some rest! Make sure to wash hands thoroughly before eating.
Chuck, Buckeye left after his 4000th post. Didn't you get the memo?
88 - Mornin', B. Just read there was a "hot" time in ol' Mt Airy over the weekend. 6 businesses, any of them the train store?
Welcome back. Get my email?

Good Morning All,
Sunny, high 80s next three days. I made another attempt at the fuse box cover, no luck, could be I can't get everything aligned at once. I built the train table to close and there is no room to move around. Thumbed the O mag. yesterday could not see anything of great interest, it's getting boring but I want to support them as I remember when all we had was Model RR & RMC. OK back to work all who must, Sir James
Good morning from a sunny and cool Chicago where everyone is seemingly back at work. Late yesterday, we had a small plane crash about a half-mile away. 2 dead. Our home is on the approach of our local little airport - I see all the landings. First crash in a while. Jimmie, good for you buying books for the kids! I thumbed through the Yaz book at our B&N - must be a mistake to sell it out here - looks like a great read. Is your bride an ER RN? Mine is pediatrics. Sad about those kids.David, I'm sorry about your poison ivy/oak - I echo Jim A's recommendations. We use lots of calamine lotion. That JLC blog is a great read! Jim F, hey, the brownies are all gone. Are the windows all done?Mitch, get the Flying Yank. You won't regret it.Brent, boy, didn't Notre Dame stink up the place? Maybe Charlie isn't such a wonder coach after all. I'm embarrassed - a little. Hope my White Sox beat the Tigers a bit this week. They sure stink too.Don B, did you see Michael Waltrip's fire in the 55 car? I can't believe he got out without a scratch? It sure looked hot there...Chief, a few weeks ago, I discovered that 'Saving Grace' show on TNT - watched it last night too. Well, I got to run the trains a bit last night. Mostly the K-Line Santa Fe 2-6-2 with its three coaches - I'm also thinking up some more operational moves so my trolley passengers can connect a bit more.

Hey boys, HE's lurking. A certain Ohizoian is lurking.
Hello Buckeye.

I think I figured it out, Buckeye is waiting for that certain momentous occassion and/or post to respond to. Doesn't want to "waste" that 4001 response to some silly frivioulous chit chat. Maybe he's watiting for a certain team to win a game????
Doug - I was amazed the Michael W was OK, took him a LONG time to get out of a hot car. It was also reported that a lot of the adhesive on the tape products being used was melting. Numerous heat related problems!! Suppose to be high of 80 tomorrow, and 70 on weekend.

Doug, my wife is an OR RN. She worked plenty this past weekend. All of it "call". She must be exhausted today.
My new project is an MPC era 634 Santa Fe NW-2 switcher. It came to me in pieces, and not all of them were present. I have had no luck finding a parts list or service drawings for this locomotive, but am sure that with a little time, it will run again. Maybe Jeff at the Train Tender can be of help.
I'm back!!! I had to hire a pugnacious attorney to get a restraining order against the Chief and his coffee pot dictates. That should teach the Roseyville Rascal a thing or two. I bet he doesn't mess with me again.
lionroar88 wrote:Buckeye is celebrating the University of Michigan's 34 - 32 loss to Appalachian State University! The first time in history that a Top 5 team has lost to a 1-AA school! Couldn't have happened to a finer institution! BTW - Notre Dame got crushed by Georgia Tech 33 - 3 for their worst opening day loss in school history. And Florida State completed the Trifecta last night by blowing it against Clemson! So in all a VERY good weekend of College Football for Lionroar and Buckeye! (Both our teams won!)...
Brent, Now, Michigan will get a new coach. Somebody really good and it will be harder for everyone to kick their butt. We need Michigan to win the games they are supposed to win so that Loser Lloyd is still in town.
On the other hand, the Buckeye faithful was ROTFLOAO when we heard the score. The aftergame crowds were cheering I heard minimal comments on Sunday about the Buckeye's win over Penguins.
Doug, sorry to say, but I thought Charlie would be the real deal for ND until I read more about his lawsuit against his surgeons. It appears that Charlie always knows best and doesn't take instructions very well.
Sleeping under the bridge has come to an end.
Couldn't have been a better holiday. Ate grilled pork chops and sweet corn on a farm in Southern Ohio under a clear starry sky on Sunday evening. The farm is situated such that you can see the lights of Columbus some 25 miles away. With a bonfire burning, the cool summer air and cold beer, it doesn't get much better.

We already knew that up here in New England, Buckeye. I never cared for him.
