$69.00 for a garbage can, Brent?!! Did it come with Vaseline?

Modeling the Baltimore waterfront in HO scale
Hi GIZ,
Double nickles here today to get to 80. Got to cut grass and plant string beans.
BRENT sounds like a 'redneck' solution to get the can home? I do that stuff all the time, love to see the people stare. Makes them think about it?
Rock on,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 46 degrees. Going up to 85 today with plenty of sunshine. This will be a hot day.
Today, I am working outside again. Last night, I mowed the side yard, so I will do the front and hill today. It's better if I break it up to several days. Should take about 2 hours or so. Didn't get down to the train room, yesterday. Weather was too nice. I have to pull up the track and remove the steel bridge for painting. That will take a couple days to primer and paint. I will not rush that job. I want to take my time.
Well, Dining Car has rolled in. Time for breakfast. Don't know if " points west " has boarded yet.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
It is another beautiful, sunny and warm day in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s again and a chance for some rain as well. Two catalogs came in the mail this week. I got the Lionel Christmas catalog, which did not have too much of interest and Lucas got a Lego catalog, which had a couple of interesting kits. One was a locomotive set, which you can download plans for 30 different engines and cars. Some of the models shown are surprisingly detailed. What was even more interesting was a building kit that practically does away with all the visible Lego pegs that you see on their sets. It is fairly expensive, but there are a lot of pieces and a lot of "kitbashing" possibilities. I am not sure what scale would be appropriate, but it does look nice. I better send the dining car to "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
More 'new house that we aren't in yet' shopping last night...The contractor met the 'renters' at the house to measure the front door - so wife and I got to Lowes to order new doors, the contractor hadn't faxed the measurements (it had only been 6 hours since the measuring took place). So she asks the guy about her 10% off coupon that expires 'today' (now yesterday). He says that he will honor it because she has been so patient! I nearly laughed my behind off! Anyway, I was sent on a mission to pick up the new foyer light, double bin trashcan insert for the island, and to pick out a new garbage can... they had the standard round ones, and a couple retangular ones with wheels, but I liked the the 'ultimate garbage can', these are the ones that many garbage collectors are using because they can use the truck lift to empty them... so I get the $69.00 62 Gallon one... take everything out to the car, get the light in and the insert, no room for the 'ultimate garbage can'!
So I tell the wife, meet me down at the lumber pickup area (wife drives a 1999 Toyota Solara)... I cut-off about 20 feet to nylon twine, put some broken down boxes she had in the trunk on the roof, and then strapped the 'ultimate garbage can' to the roof! You should have seen some of the looks we got! HA! We laughed about it the whole way home... should have taken a picture...
Good morning from sunny and warm New England!
I filled up the kiddie pool for the rug rats yesterday and they had a heck of a time. Felt just like summah heeah!
I'm working on repairing a post war tender shell. Dep was kind enough to send me a pair of originals. One was missing a step in the rear. Fortunately it has the one I need to repair my tender. So surgery is ongoing as I try to make one good tender from 2 broken ones.
How about them Brewers? Best record in baseball!

took my beagle for a walk....
pretty warm out today so i didnt do much...
well take it easy and catch ya later
Jim, Good for you, at last (come July1) we get a complete ban in all enclosed public spaces and work places. I have to keep a separate change of clothes for going to the pub, they still stinck the following day. You should hear the whinging and complaining of them (smokers), loss of liberty etc. We NS have suffered their stench and filth for far too long, at long last we have clean air to breathe.
Rant over.
We've had three weeks without rain and the rservoirs are well down, as I predicted the water co's are asking us to cut down consumption, no mention of a rebate on their exhorbitant charges. Am contesting an overcharge going back 3+ years. It's now bucketting it down.

After further running, I'll say it runs great and will pull every car I've got at the same time! Unfortunately, my layout isn't big enough to test that theory, but I think I'm right! Good value for a $90 locomotive. I need to heed the advice I was given, though, and put some tape underneath to block the light from shining down on the track in front.

Nope, this is a Lionel O27 4-4-2 with horn and smoke. After further running, I'll say it runs great and will pull every car I've got at the same time! I have two of those that came in starter sets. One is NYC w/whistle from a Jcpennys set and the other is an older C&O set with out sound of any kind. I have a soft spot for these locos in starter sets. Will be looking into the Steamer by atlas as well. Actually ther are two steamers in O by atlas the other is a highly detailed 0-6-0.
Mike C - I saw Spamalot and it was great! BTW, the Mississippi is expected to hit about 32 to 37 feet which will flood some parking garages downtown by Sunday - they are closing flood gates just in case. Spot storms expected all week. Nowhere near the flood in 93, which almost reached 50 feet though Wish I could send this rain to a certain 'ville in NC or down to you guys in GA.
Doug M, how is it in Chicago? You guys having flooding or anything? Sounds like you will soon have a statewide smoking ban - I won't complain. Arnold passed a smoking ban (separate room with separate HVAC is still okay) and it's great to be able to eat wherever you want and not have to worry about taking the kids.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
It was a beautiful, sunny day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today with temps in the 80s. The cars were running fast and the crowd was fairly large for a practice session. We watched "Veronica Mars" and it was good as well. I got my wife tickets to "Spamalot" for her birthday/ Mother's Day present and she liked that as well. I voted in the primary and it was a good day all the way around. I hope everyone has a good day.

Before it broke the surface, we thought he had the biggest bass ever caught in Kentucky.

When I go fishing It is my luck to always catch a turtle I like to fish for pearch at Lake Erie, localy I go to Alum Creek, Deer Creek and Hargus lake(not sure if spelled right). As a kid we used to go to Hideaway hills near Lancaster Ohio, wish we would have kept our lot as they had a nice lodge/resturant and a pool as well as many lakes and ponds to fish at.

Have a good one.
Does that mean if you get the Mayor Position you won't be coming to HARRISBURG? Which means "NO MORE GRITS"!!!!!!!
RUN CHIEF RUN!!
Morning all. Lets see if I remember all the replies I want to post. If I forget someone, forgive me [I'd love to forget Buckeye ].
Mitch, praying you get the job. If not, the Lord has a good reason why and something else will come your way that is better. Have faith.
Brent, might try the sause Saturday on pork loin [wife's whole family is coming for hot dogs and pork bar-be-que, that is a big bunch of folks too].
Buckeye, not hot and sticky and humid in NC. Actually windy and dry. Think NC got moved to Chicago. Coast is having big NE'er with hawling winds. We did have a mist of rain a few minutes ago but dried up from wind. BTW: can't take pictures of fish you don't catch.
We made the big coup yesterday with County EMS. They were going to take Rolesville's EMS second duty truck away. We bought it and we finance it b ut County now run fire and EMS. They thought they could run us but County Commissioners turned it around and they suddenly agreed with us. County Commissioners voted in our favor yesterday. Actually a big upset tot he system but allowed the Fire/EMS Leaders tosave face.
Think it is train time.
