Chief, I've seen the Atlas trolleys - they sure look sharp though I haven't gotten one yet with silhouettes v. just plain windows.
Brent, I have six Western Hobbycraft ones and two Corgi Birneys. I need just one more WH to complete their offerings. Then maybe start on the Birneys... Wink [;)]

Morning all.  Just finished talking to the Redheaded New England Yank.  Mitch, congrats.  Now that is a great feat [get'em graduated].  Suppose to be on their own [you bet!!].  Doug M, Atlas has trolleys in thier new catalog.

Off to pond to weedeat the grass I planted this spring.  Really grown after the last shower.  Would rather sit and watch Once Upon A Time In America on AMC.  One of my favorite LONG movies. [along with In Harms Way, The Godfather series, Growing up in America and The Longest Day]

Later

PS: Don, hope you follow your suggestions.  [funny]

Doug - I did a google search for Happy Birthday Trolleys, then just looked at images.  However you can find it much faster by doing the search on Hershey Trolleys.  Glad you liked it.

Mitch - Very nice family picture!

I THINK I got my track cleaned, sure got a lot of stuff off!  Will see about beginning the installation this week-end.  Today going down to San Diego for a presentation to a computer club.  Probably be late night by the time I get back.

Recalculated the distance between tracks in order to run two trains, going to be tight but I think it will work.  Sure, will be in big trouble here if it doesn't.  May have to revise the inventory to skeleton cars.

Regarding the issues when you go to display and run the stuff for guests, I've decided to implement the following;

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.  If it doesn't
move  and should, use t he WD-40.  If it shouldn't move and does, use the
duct tape.

Along those lines a few more basic answers to common issues:

 1. If you are choking on an ice cube simply pour a cup of boiling water
down your throat.  Presto!  The blockage will instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself slicing vegetables by getting someone else to
hold while you chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by using
the sink.

4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for
a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins.  Remember to
use a timer.

5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you
from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze
button.

6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you
will be  afraid to cough.

7. Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

8. Some people are like Slinkies.  Not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning from a sunny and dry Chicago where I am basking in your good wishes. Thank you all! I had a nice evening with homemade pizza and eclair cake. Amongst the new White Sox and Notre Dame paraphernalia, I got this! A buddy came over later with some train mags for me and we ran them all. Of course, I had Don's luck with visitors and they kept derailing in the corners - I think the track just sags a bit

Don, where did that 'Chocolate lines' trolley photo come from?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 88 today with sunshine all day. It will be hot. Pick a shady spot.

Today, I am taking it easy. Got yard work done and errands. Now, to relax and enjoy. Wife is grooming her little dog with a friend. That will take about 4 hours. I have to do some dusting in the train room. Maybe later when it's the hottest outside.

Dining Car has arrived. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

This is starting to sound like a broken record, and I am not complaining, but it is another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana.  Last night, I did some tree-trimming on some low hanging branches and dead limbs, went for a walk with the wife, and practiced some soccer.  I have been working on juggling the ball and I finallly got over five bounces at a time.  I would imagine tmcc man can do fifty before it hits the ground, but he is a third my age.  Speaking of age, I hear a certain doug turned the page on another year.  As I tell everbody who is chronologically less challenged than me, I hope I never get as old as you :-)  Seriously, a belated Happy Birthday to cnw1995!  "Veronica Mars" is on tonight, and tomorrow practice resumes at the speedway.  The dining car is headed to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning to all.  Graduation is over.  Got home yesterday and unloaded the final load of stuff. Picked up the dog from being boarded at the Vet and she jumped out of her crate and collapsed to the floor.  She has a bad leg.  Had to take her back to Vet.  Couldn't really find anything major so gave her some doggie Celebrex and said to keep her quiet. We are now in graduation party mode.  About 60 people coming for graduation party on Saturday.  The Boy is now in Boston with some buddies for a road trip.  They have tix for BoSox game on Wednesday night.  One of his buddies from high school has an aunt & uncle who live there.  It is one of his favorite places to visit.  I know he will come home from Boston with a box of almond biscotti and cannoli from Modern Pastry in Boston's North End.

Here's a graduation photo with my parents, The Mrs. and me with the proud graduate.

Take care,

Mitch

Happy birthday Doug.

Jim , if I were to put (highland) cattle on my layout? I would probably go to one of the UK importers of US stuff.

Rode Honda's from 1976 to 1999 (when illness stopped my run), before that had a BSA, Triumph etc. Trouble with the British bikes was they were in a time warp, virtually the same as they were in 1939. Bought a Bonnie in 76, it broke down on the way home from the dealers (6 miles), took it back and swapped it for a Honda dream, no more British junk for me. Triumph has risen from the dead and is now making decent tackle. Did have a ride on a new HD once. It was worse than anything I have ever ridden, shook like a wet dog, bits dropped off, 1.5 gallon tank, just enough to get to the next gas stop and just would not go round corners. Some BFs buy them here, there is a dealer here in Stockport. You can hear one coming a mile away.

Glad to hear you're keeping your feet dry.

Evening.  Weedeated, sprayed Roundup on pond path and shooting range, rotated tires on pickup and wife's car and finished up by mowing my yard and neighbor's.  Hey, that bascialy leaves tomorrow open to play trains.  Watched the Sapronos.  Big surprise.  I had figured Chris as the FBI squeeler.  Old man is tired.  Have a good one.

Evening everyone.  Getting ready for bed.  Wife and kids are already there.  Felt kinda ill tonight, hope it is just a temporary thing.  Anyway, not train time, but I hope to get some in this weekend.

Zeke, glad you got it.  Do yourself a favor, get a highlighter or pencil and mark the pieces you have on the front section with the list.  Then, make sure you read the first few pages about disassembly, etc.  Then you can go to the pages specifically about your engines.  It is also a good book to thumb through as they have some track plans, and other information on equipment, etc.  I am sure it will serve you well.

God Bless,

Dennis

All that work to show off the train room, and it kinda fizzled.

I had decided that the highpoint would be having the camera in the caboose of the train on the shelf broadcast a picture to the TV.  I got the camera at York for a good price, I think.  And bought an optional power unit that connect to the camera and runs off track power.  Didn't put that on yet was going to run on 9v battery.  So I get it all set up and it works, does a reasonable job.  Now I needed a ladder in the room to "turn on " the chuff sound, (which is also driven by a 9v battery, and activates when a magnet on the axle passes a sensor).   So the idea was to turn power on for everything about 15 min before they arrived, and then get rid of the ladder (garage).  Everything goes to plan, then  did a brief showing for the guys, and they were impressed.  Women were busy getting the food ready.  So after we all eat, then the women want to "see" it.  Guess what...... Batteries dead !!  No more 9v batteries !!  Oh well, another time.  Banged Head [banghead]Sign - Oops [#oops]Sign - Dots [#dots]Black Eye [B)]Dunce [D)]Grumpy [|(]Censored [censored]      Laugh [(-D] NOT     (And I KNOW none of YOU guys are laughing either !!

Anyway,  Afternoon was spent watching videos I took of Gettysburg, Strausburg, and museums.  Everyone seemed to enjoy them, even the guided narrated tour through Gettysburg.

I did manage to get a good buy as a result of ebay.  A fellow was offering 40' of LGB track, and additional 10' increments was available.  As it turned out he is about 6 miles from me.  So made arrangements to purchase some direct, without shipping, sales tax, and reduced quantity rate.  He saved ebay fees, and posting issues.  Win Win

Now I have to get to work on finishing that up.  It is real interesting though this track is cosmetically perfect, except it has a layer of "soot" on it???  He thinks its a result of extended use with plastic wheels.  Really seems odd.  Comes off very easy, mechanically and electrically it seems perfect.  Weird.

I also got my "Golden Spike" card and catalog, no car though. ... Maybe they havn't shipped yet ??  Dunno

Time to go clean track.

HI GIZ,

STUGEON FISH, yes I love my working gals, HUBA HUBA!  Maybe a BUDA BING?

Well I was thinking of bidding on a Lionel set of NYC FTs and let them go for $239.  Was going to bid on them at $300.  But went to LHS and saw a pair of NYC FA2s with Command and Odyssey and dual smoke units along with 5 years newer on the FTs well it was a no brainer and got them for $400.  They came out in 2005 and the NYC FTs were in the 2000 catalog.  Wife had off today and picked them up for me, sound great and run smooth.  Ran them in forward and reverse for about 40 minutes great.

  All have a good nite.

Happy B-Day [bday]Happy Birthday Doug and many many more!Happy B-Day [bday]  Be sure to tell us which Trolley you actually got!

jefelectric - yeah, it was crazy!  His stomach hurt so we had to go home from Home Depot, then he moaned and groaned around the house for an hour, then when my wife decided to order some pizza, he was fine!  I believe he really didn't feel good, though, because he got pretty pale and pasty for a while and we made him lay down too.  If he was faking, it was better than I ever managed as a kid Wink [;)]

I won a box of track, mixed O and O27, 50 to 65 pieces for $28.  Somebody tried to snipe it, but my max bid was $30 and I beat them out.  Waiting on another auction to close to see if I can combine shipping, got from trainz on ebay.  Need to get a barn for my cows, I think they were mooing this morning.  I wonder if they have Highland Coos in O gauge over the pond - John or Nick?

NO RAIN!  Mississippi will not flood in St. Louis, already crested thanks to broken levies farther up the line.  Missouri went 4 ft above flood level but was contained.

Evening all,

Another beautiful day in Southern Ohio.  Been away from the pot posting but kept up.

Happy Birthday Doug, Hope you had a great day!

Chief - Did you get the wife's car fixed?  Before changing the O2 sensor, take the car to AutoZone or Advanced and have them read the code with their OBDII reader.  It may limit the parts to replace!

Not much training today.  I did get a Harley Fatboy on the bay for the layout.  Hopefully it will be the right size.  This will be the third one I've gotten but as yet they are too big.

Don - the pics you posted of your room really look great.

Laz- Your working women are an interesting addition.

Take care and may God bless your needs

Jim
