Morning. Thanks for all the well wishes. For my Yankee "friends" , thank you for a good year of "battle". For my REB friends, thanks for the help fighting those hardheaded Yanks. We will fill this coming year with GRITS and SWEET ICE TEA.
Got to get ready to go into Raleigh [hate the traffic]. Busy day. Sure glad for the rain. Been blessed with another great year. Got to travel, meet friends, catch fish and buy trains. OH, big accomplishment. Trains off of the crapet.
God bless.

Mornin' CHIEF. (Take 2) - - What will you be doing on your special day?
Blueberry - still pretty damp here int the Mid-Atlantic, but NASCAR should still be able to squeaze the race in...probably not all 400 laps.
I took Friday off to get some things done around the house. One of those things was painting my green K-Line Pacific black. It came out nice! I'm letting it dry a while before re-assembly and decals. She's a looker now!
I also began a painting project of another kind last night, again, with very pleasing results. I started painting the plastic ballast on my FasTrack. I used a black wash to bring out the details. It looks great and so much more realistic. The painted ballast is considerably darker, but also has the crevises blackened to make all the stone detail pop! It looks very much like I really ballasted the rails.
Got what I thought was a mild sunburn on Saturday. But now it hurts! This on a guy who really shouldn't be in the sun.

Good morning all,
It is another sunny warm day in SE Indiana with the temps in the 70s. A warm Hoosier greeting is being sent south in honor of the Chief's birthday, without whom none of us would be gathering at the coffeepot. I hope you celebrate the day with grits and lots of sweet iced tea.
I spent an interesting two days watching the nephew and the two nieces play soccer on Saturday and Sunday going to a wedding reception for a friend's daughter who got married in California in March. Both days were longer and more tiring than they should have been. I have an odd couple of weeks ahead of me with classes in the evenings on Mondays and Thursdays. I will not be getting home until 9 PM those days.
I see where the dining car already arrived at "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
A very special Grant Wood Birthday Greeting from Iowa for our friend, Chief. Most of you didn't know that Chief had Iowa connections, look at the way he holds that pitch fork, I'm not sure his girl friend in that shot trusts him though.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY FRANK!!!
Jon

Dining car is here with all kinds of goodies. ( except grits ). It is time for breakfast. Be back later.
Y'all have a great Monday. Chief will.

you know i really love my williams..its my favorite.....and i cant wait to get my lionel 2025 up and running....
i really dont want the headache of messing with this mth...i will give it a shot but i just cant dump a ton of money on a repair when my layout needs items...besides i have two like new locos...my k line is so sweet and my monster williams....i f the repair isnt much then i will fix it..if not then i will try to sell it on ebay or try and trade the whole set off.....we shall see i am not giving up yet....
does anyone know anything about tyco trains? I never heard of them till i got one...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
That's quite gracious of you loco, but the Frank celebrating a birthday today is The Chief.

Frankly, Frank - Have a Great Day.
Frank, even though I'm not a regular over here, HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Keep up the GREAT work that you do.
(I do lurk, and watch certain things., especially Sun. Photo Fun; your pictures are always great!!!) (I wish I could come that close to modelling things likeyou do.)
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Frankly, Frank - Have a Great Day, Chief.
Take care
John - That coal train is awesome! Guess I'm goin to have to learn how to do that.
patience isnt my strong point...oh well ...i will check around...3 months is a long time to be gone...im not thrilled about mth already....seems they would have more repair shops available...but im new what do i know...
ya the outside of that shop has a couch in front of them doors and that car is all tore up but still there...i will just check itout though.....
i can hear my gf now " i told you so"...she told me it was a lemon if it was at a grage sale....women...well im out to the garage to lay some cork road bed for my ho...take it easy....
Zeke - I checked out the pictures you referenced for the your LHS, I too would have concerns. I noticed on their website they had no mention of MTH. Also, their inventory picturees only showed Lionel. A phone call of course wouldn't hurt. But, I would be surprised if you get a lot of "We don't service that stuff" and other similiar remarks. MTH isn't real popular on the west coast, which is unfortunate. I tried finding a place around December. And didn't have much luck here in So. Cal., even some of the places in Nev. as indicated on the MTH website, didn't still exist. The closest I found was in Colorado, or Arizona. And they had significant wait lists. Hopefully, maybe somebody from the east coast can reccommend a shop. I ended up shipping my engine to MTH in Maryland. It took almost 3 months for turn around, which was what they said it would when I shipped it.
Don't give up on it!! You still got a GREAT deal, and at least you have something to work with. Patience is going to be a requirement! But it will work out in the end. Let's see this is June, so should be able to get it operation before Christmas. Just don't give up! It will be worth it!

Roy, Thanks for the link! These are really significant video clips. Ward Kimball was undoubtedly one of the most significant contributors to the hobby. I had the fortune to meet him a couple of times at monthly train meets in Pasadena. He also allowed frequent tours of his estate and collection. Unfortunately I certainly would not say I had a cordial relationship with him, but he WAS as genuine a person as portrayed in the clips.
Had to post the picture of the Convention car that was discussed in the video. The Charlie Chaplin decal was ONLY available if you attended the meet. It was one of the first meets I attended. I sold a lot of AF items I had there, sure wish I still had them.
Unrelated subject, below is a couple of pics of our planning foreman, trying to figure out what scenery is going to be brought in.
As you can see 1st priority was with the library.
Laz - SSSHHHHWWEEET! Man, that's a nice set! Sounds like Soparanos was good - maybe somebody will put the train store part on yourtube...
Nick and John Baker - Nice pic! Glad to hear no probs on the turns. My Transylvania RR 0-6-0 had to be loosened right away, but the Copper Range ran for hours before it started pushing cars off the curves. I s'pect you are right and it's the O27 versus O or 36 turns.
Well, I'm full of beans (ate at La Pachanga, local Mexican place) and about ready to crash. Mike, glad to hear you are doing well. RT - walls look about 10,000 times better already, can't wait to see the end results of your labors. Chuck, hope you get some train time. Chief, we are due storms again this week. Haven't mowed since I "broke" my hand. Need to get-er done tomorrow before more rain hits us.
Good night and God bless us all.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
sounds like the sopranos was a good show...personally i never have seen it....
well i am looking for a good mth repair service if anyone can recommend someone that would be great..thanks guys...i just dont think i would let this guy here intown touch it..but i know someone here knows good mth train repair..thanks
im pretty bummed out now...think i will go play in traffic
Great day. 2 inches of rain. Got to see GROWINIG Grandson. Got Lowes gift card from Youngest Daughter and SIL that will cover all my soundboard.
Tony will win in the end.
Watching the Tutors now.
Busy day tomorrow. Lunch with Oldest Daughter, County Comm. meeting, and lastly Town Board.
Glad to see the two CHAPS from over the pond. Carry on.
Got two Lionel fan driven smoke units yesterday. Want to install one in Atlas NS SD40. Got Radio Shack bridge rectifiers to reduce voltage. Just got to find time to solder and install.
Microwave popcorn time and Later.
Laz - I think that hobbyshop scene will go down in Model Train History. Great fun, and good night paizan.
