Brent - That really looks GREAT !!!!!

Some comments -

Regarding the aquarium hole, possibly a carnival area, industrial area possibly a refinery with a spur.  Also, the elevated area, G scale would look good up there!

The layout really looks fantastic I love the design.  What is the maximum radiuss you are running?  You MAY want to consider going 1 size bigger for future acquisitions.

Great job !!!!!!!!

Can't go G-Scale down there... I am hoping to do a garden layout out back near the fire pit... more on that later... Smile [:)]

All curves are O-45, switches are all O-54.  The yard area is O-36, except the mainline going into the turntable is O-45.  I'm not running any Alleghenies on this so I don't need O-72s or larger... at least for this room... next house/room that is a different story... Wink [;)]

The aquarium hole will be partially blocked by the large mountain in the upper right corner of the layout pic... that is why I was thinking just scenicing the hole with the valley... I could add a spur back into it so it looks like a valley line along the river... hmmm....

Good morning everyone,

It has been a busy few weeks lately. I have to work today, which is what I don't want to do today.

Dennis and Doug, feel better soon.

Mike C., there are only a few people in the U.S. that watch 2 of the most interesting sports, those being soccer and F1 racing. Soccer is probably going to be better here though, because Beckham is coming to the U.S. But, I am really going to miss the F1 at Indy.

Brent, check this out.  I was doing 054 for yard switches.  Found out track were closer together with 072 [Realtrax].  So, switched to 072.  Might check and see how it works for your track system.  Man, wish I had a room that big.

Just talked to Doug Murphey.  Doing good.  Can watch TV [he says he thinks because it is at a distance], no reading nor couputers.  Kind of boring.  Hope to get OK when he visits eye Dr. on Tuesday.  Says, "Hi to all."  Thanks for prayers.  Was a sudden surprise.

Good morning all,

On to a matter that probably will not concern many here, but occasionally people sound off and vent on various non-train related issues.  I will avail myself of that privilege now.  As most of the regulars know (and some of the "irregulars" as well), there are three items in life that matter to me more than anything else besides the usual priorities (religion, family, etc.).  They are auto racing, toy trains, and soccer.  While soccer came to me in a later part of my life, auto racing and toy trains have always been a part of my life.  The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is where I have been going for over 40 years, and consequently is very important to me.  While initially curious about F-1 when it came there, I went to the first race and was hooked.  The news yesterday that no such event would take place in 2008 was devastating.  The management at the Speedway have gone above and beyond to try and make this event possible, but the F-1 demands were too much.  (Now for the soapbox)  I am angry, sad, disappointed, mad, upset and frustrated that this happened.  The IMS has been around almost 100 years.  It is an INSTITUTION of motor racing, and there is no place else that has nearly as long a history.  Long after Bernie Ecclestone and the rest of the idiots who have insulted the tradition of the Speedway are worm food, the Speedway will still be there.  These people who operate F-1 do not seem to realize that if F-1 does not succeed at Indy, it will not succeed  anywhere else in the US.  The Speedway spent a ton of money making changes to  the facilities to accommodate the F-1 specifications and there is no way the Speedway will get ever a return on that investment.  ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!   (I will now get down from the soapbox.  Thank you for listening.)

There were cinnamon rolls and cereal on the dining car for "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mike is this the IRL leauge that broke away from Indy racing years ago ????

Maybe you can clear it up for me. Years ago I saw my first IRL race at Disney.

njalb1,

Wow. That is a tough question to answer briefly.  F-1 races all over the world in open wheel cars that are arguably the most technically advanced in the world.  The IRL was formed in 1996 by the owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Those cars are a spec series that runs primarily on oval tracks in the US, but they do some road courses as well.  Their big race is the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing", the Indy 500.  There is a third open wheel series, the CCWS, which runs in the US and some overseas events, with all events currently on road courses.  The CCWS and IRL were part on one series at one time.  The event at Disney was an IRL race.  I hope this helps.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hi All,

Brent, That is a very nice room.

Mike C, Bernie loves to throw his weight about. He tried playing hardball with Silverstone over here. Until he felt the PR & fan backlash. F1 is great, even better since Lewis appeared on the scene. However take a look a Endurance racing LMES and ALMS and of course the 24hrs of Le Mans. Le Mans is a great event £50 for a general entrance ticket thats valid for the the week. In Contrast F1 Silverstone ticket around £130 for 1 day.

A lot of the teams run on low budgets (I know I used to work for oneWink [;)]) which leads to some close racing and some innovative engineering.

Nick - I never worked for a team, but you are 100% + Correct !!!!  When the teams were indivdual and running on small budgets, everything was better!  The competition, innovation, excitment, everything.  The large teams is what has made Nascar the "cookie cutter cars" on the "cookie cutter tracks".  What used to be great racing is now a 3 or 4 hour advertising commercial.  SoapBox [soapbox]  Sorry for the Sign - Off Topic!! Brent - man, that's a nice room!  Looks like a good track plan to me, but do you need more sidings and an industry somewhere?

John Baker - I've read of your soccer hooligans and the problems with riots and stuff.  Keep your head down and avoid that mess -- stick to trains and a few drams of rheumatis medicine!

Got off the phone with Lionel and they were very nice and will mail me a replacement coupler for my new docksider right away - Thumbs Up [tup]

Glad to hear that Doug Murphy is getting better.  Guess he won't be reading his trolley books for a little while, though.  Dennis, I had a stress test a few years ago and it's not bad at all.

Need to get a birthday present for my friend - it's not for another week, but I'll be fishing that weekend, so need to give it to him tonight.  TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Doug and Dennis,

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Chief,

          Any news on Elliott?

I stayed up all night last night to clean off the pingpong table, lay I/O carpet, and start laying track.  I haven't been this excited about a project in a long time.  I bought a gorgeous 250 ZW with a crisp box on ebay today for only $140!  There are three more ZWs that are around that price, and I had a hard time deciding.  Catch you all later.

Good Evening Everyone !! Very nice weather here again today !

Wonder if someone could clue me in on the Indy races ? Does that mean there will be no more Indy 500 ? I probably misunderstood & maybe they're talking about some other races held there . I don't think they would do away with that race, would they ? I never got to go yet !!

Brent : that sure is going to be a nice train room !! How about a ski valley in that open spot ?

Well, now for a trip to the store.

Thanks, John

Cool the basketball games were rained out.Tongue [:P] I read a few things and I'm not surprised it is a good learning lesson. Hopefully a cheap one at that.

Well I know my wife is going to drag me to the W-Mart tonight. Too bad they don't have trains. Our sweet corn looks like it will be a little late this year. To tell the truth that is all that I eat for supper over a three week time period. Nothing better than fresh picked.

Now if anyone is close to Somerset County I will give you all the free sweet corn you want because this place needs some good times after what a few people went through. Sorry guys can't mail the stuff it just isn't as good. Dead [xx(]

Good evening guys,

Mike C., I read an article in the local paper about the F-1 situation, but it never really said what the real reason was for the spat.  Any inside info.  I don't follow it a lot anymore, but once was an avid fan.  The races are all run at very inconvenient times for live viewing here.  I remember a time when F-1 drivers were considered the highest paid athletes in the world.

Brent, Nice layout plan and layout room.  Your message was very clear, hope he reads it.

Colin, You might as well get used to work, you will be doing it every day in a few years. Smile [:)] Banged Head [banghead]

John O, you are making me hungry for sweet corn, guess I'll have to visit Amish Country.

Now for trains, I got a Weaver, Lehigh and New England Caboose in the mail today, nice but I haven't put it on the tracks yet.  Also got an email from Cool Trains that the Lionel, PRR Burro Crane is in that I ordered.  Got a second email saying that the 4 PRR fishbelly flats I ordered about a year ago have come in.  More flat car loads to build.  Smile [:)]

All have a nice weekend,

Ok, I'll be fast on this one subject and hope I don't get "killed" for this...

I'm on the fence about the whole "z" affair. If someone will give me proof on this deal, i'd appreciated it. e-mail or PM me, it dosen't have to be a public thing.

I don't condem anyone's feelings either way, like Chief said God is watching (and I say Karma is he11!)

Thanks

I'm sorry if were wrong but when you see stuff that was given to him because of his pitty parties on ebay for sale it goes to far. If you wish to keep sticking up for him so be it but I can't believe that 99% are wrong and 1% is right. You need to stop looking thru rose color glasses. And see the true light. Theres to many that he has done wrong for it to be an accident its right out wrong. I have to ammit I thought for a while this can't be true but the more I saw the more I realized it is so. theres a whole list of ones that gave him items because he was a hurt disabled vet back from the war who lost both his parents and a child in the last year. then has a heart attack switched to stroke and on way out has a tummor bleeding thur his ear and hes released in less than 24 hours and the doctors suposely told jenny don't expect him to make it thur the night all i can say is wake the Censored [censored] up and smell the coffee.

Grayson,
I've said my piece... he has my address, if he REALLY wanted to return the stuff he should have put it in the mail... need I say anything further?  I honestly don't care for the stuff I sent him, if I did I wouldn't have sent it free of charge.

I'm done with this mess.  This is that last I am mentioning it.  I hope the rest of us can as well.

It was the knocking on deaths door to hi guys i'm home that got me to wondering.

Evening all:  Took the bride to the mall groan,  had to put visa card under a pile of books as it warped from the heat of being swiped to many times.I knew I should have stayed in the train room this morning. That Fresh Corn sounds good with a BLT that I can't have yet. I got the plants in late and they are all still green.  I'll drop back later,        Sir james

Big Smile [:D] Ok I will even do one better besides the sweet corn I will toss in some great Somerset county sausage from the farm.Dinner [dinner] I know John F i still owe you some but I will get that to you the last part of the month when I make my trip down.

John I can bring you down two Porter House Steaks or a few great Pork Chops. it doesn't get any better than that. Chef [C=:-)]

So I have been thinking I have a Williams GP CN diesel that is a great runner. I bought this new this year. I'll make a deal anyone who is out something from the past months let me know and I will let my daughter pick a name out of the hat. The winner gets the train then we can say something great came out of this mess and its all over.

I don't want or need anything in return. Our family has been blessed through the good and bad times and I'm just passing down one of the favors that was given to me in the past.
