We had our first 100% full meal from the farm today. Pork Chops, peas and some small pototoes all grown on the farm.

We have started the landscaping on the layout. I should say my daughter has started. The layout was her idea and in fact she designed the track work and farm theme. Here is a photograph of her at work tonight.

Renovo, that sounds good.  I had tomato sandwiches and squash/zuc/onions all from my garden.  From what I understand, you have hogs.  Any cows?  I use to be a cattle man before I moved to Roseville.  Watching The Bourne Supremancy on TNT.  I love those Bourne series.  Think there is a new one.  Popcorn time.  BTW: wife and I played a game of badminton this afternoon. If Buckeye was to win he'd need a passport to go that "far" south.

Hi Jim,Jim,&Jim I have a question again. When some of these threads ask for info like how many engines, how big is your layout, ect.Do you ever wonder there motive? I tend to give a answer but only whats needed.    I would like to hear thoughts of others. we know most are honest inquires but still I wonder.

Sir James

If you get a bunch of JIM answers, I'm not sure it would be very meaningful.

So I thought I would throw in my My 2 cents [2c],

Most likely the person asking is sincere in there question, and probably just trying to stimulate conversation.  I'm not real concerned about them, or the other people that respond.  Now all the people that are just reading the information, that is totally different.  So I think caution is in order.

Sir J - I figure those threads are just guys trying to start a conversation.  Some guys take the small is better thing a little too seriously and I think Shakespeare described it as making necessity a virtue?  Who knows?

Well, logged back in to say thanks to Roy, RT, Jefelectric and everyone else for the info and help, because I got my 4-4-2 running again!  Big Smile [:D]  Did a couple laps and ran my new aquarium car with it.

Now, I need to CALL Lionel, because I never heard back from my email asking about getting a replacement coupler for the one that came pre-broken on my new docksider!  Well, not NOW, but next - tomorrow.  Goodnight.  John, I'm leaving the light on and Chewy will be guarding the door.  Leftovers are in the fridge, so help yourself!

Jim-Like all info posted on the net it is "out there", and I guess it I could worry the pics and info could be used for for theft, but I don't.

Jim-American Flyer maunals had several layout  designs specifically designed for a pinpong table (5x9) because of the "availability".  My layout is an adaptation of one.

Later, off to work

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, cool 58 degrees. Going up to 77, today, with a chance of rain his afternoon.

Today, I am going to take advantage of the nice morning weather, and be outside. This afternoon, I will run trains and work on the layout. I have been gathering materials to do the scenery, as that is the next step. Have all the wiring done and everything runs fine. Need to do some normal cleaning of track and cars.

Dining Car is here and young waitress is serving. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rainy and cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s today.  Supposed to be nice for the weekend.  First of all, prayers and good thoughts to all those on the forum who are ailing.  There seems to be a rash of ailments lately and I hope it tampers off (if not ends) soon.  Lucas had an incident yesterday and very long story short, he had some stitches in his head.  It seems he was running/jumping through the house to help my wife with the groceries and as he was moving, he hit his head on the top part of a door frame.  He will be ok, but he can't drive for three days.  On the plus side, he has a new girl friend.  I have only met her briefly, and so I have not formed an opinion concerning her.

On to a matter that probably will not concern many here, but occasionally people sound off and vent on various non-train related issues.  I will avail myself of that privilege now.  As most of the regulars know (and some of the "irregulars" as well), there are three items in life that matter to me more than anything else besides the usual priorities (religion, family, etc.).  They are auto racing, toy trains, and soccer.  While soccer came to me in a later part of my life, auto racing and toy trains have always been a part of my life.  The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is where I have been going for over 40 years, and consequently is very important to me.  While initially curious about F-1 when it came there, I went to the first race and was hooked.  The news yesterday that no such event would take place in 2008 was devastating.  The management at the Speedway have gone above and beyond to try and make this event possible, but the F-1 demands were too much.  (Now for the soapbox)  I am angry, sad, disappointed, mad, upset and frustrated that this happened.  The IMS has been around almost 100 years.  It is an INSTITUTION of motor racing, and there is no place else that has nearly as long a history.  Long after Bernie Ecclestone and the rest of the idiots who have insulted the tradition of the Speedway are worm food, the Speedway will still be there.  These people who operate F-1 do not seem to realize that if F-1 does not succeed at Indy, it will not succeed  anywhere else in the US.  The Speedway spent a ton of money making changes to  the facilities to accommodate the F-1 specifications and there is no way the Speedway will get ever a return on that investment.  ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!   (I will now get down from the soapbox.  Thank you for listening.)

There were cinnamon rolls and cereal on the dining car for "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Dennis & Doug, Get Better Soon.....Dennis, I hera ya on the "old age" thing.  At 52, I shouldn't be worrying about tests and such.  Can we move on past this (sickie thing) part?Sigh [sigh]

Mike, being a passionate motorsports fan, I understand your frustration.  HOWEVER!! Until we get a top flight US DRIVER (Uncle Mario, are you listening?) F1 will not become a sport to watch in the US.  If NASCAR ran it.....hmmm never mind...My passion in MOPAR, so I don't watch CHEVY-CAR oops...NASCAR like I did years ago.  After all, a HEMI is UNFAIR..(its a production engine isn't it?), and if I wanted a spec car series, I'd watch something else...thank GOD for NHRA (every fueler a HEMI and some Pro Stocks too)

Anyway, just myMy 2 cents [2c].  Got up today and it's already 80 (8:30) & steamy already, rain showers today and most of tomorrow. Been very busty with work, so I've hadn't had time since Sunday to gaze at my railroad empire (ok, village..).  Have to work tomorrow, so that'll cut into my train time (again).

Blueberry, it's good to have your waitress back, give her my reguards for feeling better.

Thought I would post this since I've been talking about it for so long...

This is the new train room.  You are standing in a 4 foot opening, looking into the train room... as you can see there are items stored in here that don't belong... wonder where they came from!

Anyhoo... The bins on the left are all accessories, track, books, magazines, and power.  Back rear corner are engines and rolling stock.  Behind the Bar Stuff boxes are my sets, Thomas, Chessie Super Freight, and a Christmas set that I am going to be trading for an SC-2 TMCC Switch controller.  Then the next set of bins is the Christmas trains... on top of those are the old O-27 tracks I will be using in the display cases.

The pendant light is coming out and will be replaced by an appropriate ceiling light or fan.  The 40 Gallon High aquarium in the back wall is coming out as well.

The problem I have is what to do with the 'hole' that will be left over when I remove the aquarium... I was thinking of just modelling a valley into it as it is too tight for anything really... there will also be a ceiling track around the perimeter that will go into the room behind you...

This room is 17.5 feet deep by 12ft 10 inches wide.

This is the main layout plan:

Tell Susan that is the problem.  We have a woman Mayor.  She can not speak in public [has to read everything] and can not remember to call for votes after motions and discussions.  She might not remember your name the next time she sees you.  Tell her that on the County Commissioners, there is one woman who is almost as bad as or Mayor in the mental category except she talks all the time saying nothing.  As far as the School Board, women are in the majority.  Seems they are the problem.  Don't get me wrong.  We have another woman on the CC and she is great.  Lots of great women leaders [but Nancy P and Hillary C].

Morning all.  Partly cloudy.  Rain later?  Lets hope.  Got to get going.  Want to run to Lowe's and get order for sound board, go pick it up and get started putting a coat of paint on it.  Got some other train related work to do too.   Later.

Brent - That really looks GREAT !!!!!

Some comments -

Regarding the aquarium hole, possibly a carnival area, industrial area possibly a refinery with a spur.  Also, the elevated area, G scale would look good up there!

The layout really looks fantastic I love the design.  What is the maximum radiuss you are running?  You MAY want to consider going 1 size bigger for future acquisitions.

Great job !!!!!!!!

Good morning all.

Mike c.  I don't follow racing but if your talking about the Indy 500, that would be a national disgrace.

Wife is home today may have to hide in train room.no telling what evil lies ahead, and we sure don't need Hillary as president again.    Bye for now  Sir James

Good Friday Morning to Y'all.  Brent, two thoughts regarding the aquarium, you could either leave the aquarium and get a aquarium from Lionel and have a train with all the aquarium  cars, submarine, etc.  Second thought, you could get a nice flat pannel TV in there and hook up one of the on-board cameras to an engine and broadcast it on the TV.  You could also watch all the train related shows in the background while working on the railroad.  Otherwise, it is a very nice space and good luck with it.

As for all the well wishes, thanks.  I don't think anything is really wrong, maybe some apnea and some degenerative disc in my neck, but it is just a part of living.  This will also get a baseline for a lot of this so that if any changes, we can jump on it.

Hope all have a great day.  It should be nice here.  We have a little get together at the British pub that one of the anesthesia docs built.  Thanks to John B., from across the pond, we had plenty of photos to help.  This should be fun, a big pig roast and plenty of folks.
