Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where I am apparently the only one who is working today - we enjoyed a weekend of gorgeous weather: the youngest had a nice party on Sat. - we searched for plastic dinos in the sandbox, looked for dino eggs filled with candy in the yard, hit a dino pinata, and made mini-volcanos with baking soda and white vinegar. I was tired.
Later that evening, we went to Chili's with another family and then strolled our local carnival / fest where I quickly blew $50 on ride tickets for the kids. The bride seemingly knew everyone in the park - we couldn't go anywhere without stopping to visit. Yesterday after services, we went to a friend's house to eat, sit around and eat some more while the kids played and watch the town fireworks. It was kind of fun having just one kid whilst the two teenagers were off at the parade with their friends.

Looks like the pot's going quickly - I'll make another.  I am negotiating with the bride about Wed - it is the Trolley Pageant at the Il Railway Museum. She wants to go to some friend's house instead.

HI GIZ,

WOW beauty of a day here at 63 to get to 78.  Took advantage of the cool day slept in till 7, then ran a nice 5 miler.  Today I put in the SWANSTONE shower walls and the the vanity, hook up all the faucets then put down the cement board.

STURGEON PHISH, I ripped my tndons in my left arm that attach to the bicept.  Hurt real bad.  Could not lift anything more then 5 lbs.  Had to get operation. 3.5 hours on the table, to reattach tendons.  Took some time to heal; but is fine now.

  All have a good one.

Mornin' fellas, and Ms Lisa.

Got a lot of work done this weekend.  Finished painting the Living Room, hung some pictures, mirrors, and other misc wall stuff for the wife, replaced some switches and outlets, hung the wainscotting in the power room (have to install cap rail and baseboards tonight), mowed the dead grass with the John Deere, and tried to install the ice maker in the freezer (part from Sears has a stripped coupler so I have to reorder the part Banged Head [banghead]).  Seems like I did a lot more than that but guess not... OH also attempted to install the foyer light.  Decided I can't do it with just the multi-ladder, so I have to build a platform to put my step ladder on.  That will work, but have to get the lumber to use (secret side note - lumber will be converted into parts for the layout) so off to Lowes or Home Depot tonight or tomorrow... tomorrow is TRANSFORMERS with the guys!

Zeke,

The cost of fixing it is holding me back.  I have a 97 Probe GT, and the transmission went around 174,000 miles, and it cost about $2,500 to have it rebuilt.  The LX I mentioned in the previous post is a nice color, it is somewhere between red and maroon.  The body is decent, except for the driver's door.  I should have asked the guy if they had the title.

I think you made a good choice. The car sounds like a lemon, i think i can smell it from here,j/k.

Sorry i also hate seeing cars go to thier death or picked apart espacially if they are pre 70's

Rule of thumb for me" If it sounds like to good of a deal it usaully is"

Also go with your gut! 500 isnt much for a car. you have to wonder how much you'd have to put in it to get it running, reliabally.

It has been awhile since I last checked in.  Hope everyone is okay.  I was restoring the 1666, but I started to lose interest in it, so I put it aside for now.  I bought two black 6462s on ebay Saturday night, only to see that a green 6462 with the box and barrels ended at $9.99 yesterday with no bids.Banged Head [banghead]  On an unrelated note, I am trying to decide if I should buy a car I was looking at.  Here is what I posted about it on a Probe forum that I belong to:

"There is a Wild Strawberry Metallic LX for sale at a local bodyshop. I am unsure of the exact year, but it is at least a 1990 because it has the 3.0L V6 in it, and the revised front bumper cover. They are asking $500. The ATX is shot, and there is a sizable hole in the lower part of the door on the driver's side. The interior, hatch, and engine look clean. The odometer showed 66,780 miles, thought that seemed kinda low for tranny trouble. I asked the guy that works there if he could start it so I could see how it ran. He starts back towards the building like he was going to get the keys, then he suddenly turns back to me and tells me that his brother lost the key, and he is out of town for the week. I could tell that he was trying to put pressure on me while we were talking, so I thanked him for taking the time to talk with me about the car and I left. I feel terrible about not buying, because I hate to see these cars in a junkyard, or see them being parted out (no offense intended to anyone), but I have a bad feeling about buying this car. Something just doesn't seem right."  What do you guys think?

Good morning all,

It was good sleeping weather as the temps dropped into the 50s last night and will be in the low 80s this afternoon.  Ran the 384E last night, cleaned all the equipment off and put it back in the boxes.  Ran the 10E a little and will run some of the cars with it maybe tonight.  I watched the F-1 race yesterday, and did a little yard work.  The daughter living in Virginia is moving back to Indiana and she was in town for a while last night on her way back to Bloomington.  It was good to see her and the grandson.  I see where "Points East" sent the dining car to "Points West" already this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Another busy day. I will take the wife to her doctor, for a follow up exam, and hopefully, she can start walking soon. Have a few errands to run and then, the household chores to do. No time for trains , again. Maybe later in the week.

Evening.  Lady ran down two people with her car today.  She is now charged with murder after one victum died.  No trains today.  Watered garden and flowers.  No rain in the forecast.  Cooler though.  No Jim A tomorrow until his internet service is installed.  After that, his typing will jam the server. I didn't read the posts since the last time I posted, will try to catch up tomorrow.

It's been a long day here.  Traveled to upstate PA to a funeral for one of Jean's relatives.  Two hour drive each way.  He was a very nice guy and I guess a lot of people thought so also as they had to put chairs in the aisles next to the pews in the church.  It was packed.  He was actually 4 months younger than I, makes you think.

Did run trains for a few minutes this evening.  Finally tried out the CNJ boxcab and it runs great.  Only has one power truck and I connected it to a seven car passenger train on the layout as a test and it pulled it fine.  Of course it is a switcher and would normally be handling a few cars at a time.

Time for bed,

take care,

I attended about 6 ys ago when i was stationed there. It was a very nice event. band was really good and the show was even better. I will not be able to make the journey thiyr . to far for me. But have a great time and put on a great show!

Had a great day, wnet to church for first time in 20 yrs. It was enlightning. MAble enjoyed herself to, and we went to lunch and i mentioned that she could move in here if she wanted. She said she;d think on it. I brought her over and showed her were she'd be living. She really liked the space. So we will see. Dropped her off and came home and mowed lawn and went to bed for a little bit.

Going out to the garage to work on the ho layout. Have to get more plywood for the o gauge. Nathan is here and says"HI" to all!

Put up 4 more light fixtures plus boxes for the basement bedroom.  Started running the wire and ran out!  That means I've run 750 feet of 12-2+G Romex as well as about 150 feet of 12-3+G already.  Needed to run to Home Depot for another 250 foot roll, but instead we got cleaned up and went to the Pasta House.  I'm now full of scampi griotti (sp?) - wood oven grilled scampi on a spaghetti noodle pasta with olive oil and garlic, lemons on the side.  I added some parmigon sprinkle cheese and it was great Dinner [dinner]  Have some Crispy Kremes for desert, but I'm too full to move yet.  Wife will be doing the bills in a few minutes, so then I'll get to my new locomotive.

Trainsandmusic,

I wish I could be there.  About twenty years ago we went to a concert/fireworks display for the Football Hall of Fame Festival.   We are fairly certain the music was provided by the Air Force Band.  It was OUTSTANDING!  I have not seen any fireworks display that even came close since then.  The music was timed to the fireworks display.  Most impressive!

Afternoon all,

Just got back from Church.  After Mass there was a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus as a fund raiser for the Church Cemetry.  Good eats!!!  Always love pancakes.

Well yesterday I was getting some sight prep done for the future garage addition and while moving a 3 x 6 x 4" concrete slabI tore my left bicep, OUCHCensored [censored].  Urgent care sling and take it easy.  Not what I need right now.  Funny, I could more that slab 15 years ago.

While leaving urgent care I saw there was a hotrod cruise in at McDonalds.  WOW over 130 hot rods from the tristate.  Some VERY cool cars.  Walked around for a few hours trying not to droule on the paint!  The older cars had class, and looked different from each other.  There were several  hot rods modeled from the hot rods of the '50's and '60's, soooo sweeeet.  Listening to lumpy cams open headers.  Brought back memories.

Back hoe guy coming later to scope out the ground prep.  Going to clean up the other car while wife at store, so I won't get in trouble for not taking it easy on the arm.  Going to post some pics.  Later

Your latest e-mail was very apt in the light (pun intended) of what happened in Glasgow yesterday.

Yes.  I've been reading about this on the internet.  I'm very grateful that they were thwarted.  And those car bombs would have been terrible in London.  Hope you are feeling better.  There is some New England Crud going around in Roseyville.  Maybe you got Ye Olde England Crud?

Recently bought a set of dvds Monk Season 4.  They are in those thin cases.  Well, we couldn't find the 4th dvd to watch.  Searched everywhere.  Finally checked inside the couch, since I remember my son reading the back of the dvd cases.  Well, this one was down in the couch and the case was destroyed by the mechanism - it's a recliner couch.  Watched the actual dvd and it was still okay, so need to get a new case for it.  Man, my wife kept telling me to calm down, apparently I got pretty red in the face.  Kid was lucky there was company as I was well and truly prepared to apply the board of education to the seat of learning!

Well, need to work on the basement, mow the lawn if no more rain today and then run my new Lionel Lines 0-6-0!  I got this one to go with my LL 3461 log cars.

Morning all. The sun is up going to 80, another beautiful day for us to enjoy. I'm taking my wife to Walmart(actually she is making me go). does that count as going somewhere? I was reading that the Harry Potter engine might be plastic, what a disapointment I would like to have an english style train but not if it has a plastic engine. Everyone have a safe sunday and I'll drop by later.         Mi. Jim
