Fife,
Nope I-70, 27N, the Left, Right, Left, Right... when I was giving dirrections to my father he says, 'What you miss the Army or something?'  He always thinks he has to be funny... Reminds me of some other folk I know... Whistling [:-^]

Off to Home Depot at lunch today to price wood for the shed.  10 x 16 (wanted to make fewer cuts to 4x8 sheets of plywood!  That will be enough room for the John Deere, push mower, weed wacker, and the plethora of gardening tools.  Also enough room for my wheel barrow and tiller.  Practicing for building the garage next year! BTW - I understood what Kurt was talking about... how many young folk know what a Soda Jerk is?

NO, NO, Chief, Don't GO!Pirate [oX)]  One last stop by before packing up the car to head to Hotlanta for a morning flight.  I got the CTT yesterday, which I think is a record as normally we get it about a week after the rest of the country.  It will be good reading on the plane/shore.

Dewey, Prayers for you and the bride.  Have one of the partners here who went to Med. School at Wake Forest....a good quality place.  Often, they will use some meds prior to surgery to shrink the tumor and make it easier to remove.  They have made tremendous strides over the last few years and I think it a blessing that it has struck now, when they can do something about it.  Will continue praying.

John Bakeer, Sorry for the troubles.  A lot of push to go for "Universal Medical Coverage" by the political types here.  They use England and Canada as examples, but don't show the downside.  Not to begrudge your govt's healthcare, but over 80% of prescribed medicine is considered "antiquated" here.  With our freemarket insurance coverage, we have  a lot more weapons at our disposal for treating people and if a drug's side effects are unacceptable, we can use another.  Of course our system obviously has plenty of problems too, but I wouldn't want to trade.SoapBox [soapbox]  I hope you are able to feel and be better soon.

Gotta run, but y'all have a great week and for those on the wrong side of the Mason Dixon Line, please behave.  I know the Chief can handle Y'all, but don't make it too hard on him, he has a campaign to win!

God Bless,
Dennis

Ya know...I've never had a bit of trouble with the software.  Slow sometimes yes, but not what you're experiencing.  We're on the cable, averaging 6Mbs.

Well...off to work...  Park this am with picnic lunch, nap time for the girls (and me), and then off to the Ann Arbor Art Fair with the family.  Work... work... work.

Good morning from a bright, sunny and cool Crystal Lake where I have a tad more eye surgery later today. "Listened" to Mad Men on AMC last evening, Chief. I like the show. Just let one of the cats escape the house by mistake when I went out to bring in the newspaper - can't read it yet though. Let's see if anyone misses her before I go out to look - she has always come back. Going to ask the doc if I can look at my magazines like the new CTT and my photo books of trains. I have a hankering to scan Great Country Railways of Britain

Dewey, praying for Barbara.
Chuck, still praying for your bride, how is she doing?
Grayson, can't wait to hear more of your layout plans - I started with tubular -- 027 -- because that's what came with my first train set. Now I love it. It is far less expensive than the newer stuff.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with the humidity down and the temps in the high 70s.  Had my last practice with the soccer kids this year as their "official" practices start and only the "official" coaches can be there.  I got the latest CTT in the mail yesterday.  Neil's layout was pretty interesting.  The layout based on the Southwest was good as well.  I also got the latest TCA Quarterly as well.  Some very nice articles on some of the "minor" players in standard gauge.  Going to Mid-Ohio this weekend for the IRL race, which I am looking forward to.  Just the usual fare for breakfast this morning on the dining car for "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful, clear, sunny 57 degrees. Going up to 76 today, with sunshine all day. Humidity is lower and rain is gone.

Today, I have a few chores to do around the house, and a few errands to run. Then, we will have company this afternoon. Niece and boyfriend are stopping by. No time for trains. I will be spending most of my free hours outside, enjoying the sunshine. Probably have to mow grass again this weekend.

Dining Car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Chuck

0645BST here in a cool Stockport. Dry at the moment but forecast is for more heavy rain and thunderstorms, we've had record rainfalls with some places getting a years ration in a few days (global warming! don't they talk bo***cks?).

 Thunderstorms

Nick, nice train room. Hope you got the timber from Jewson (they use trucks), not even the Jensen can take the bashing the Cheif dishes out.

Best wishes to those experiencing medical difficulties. I have a respiritory infection that has affected my hearing, so I am spared SWSBO telling me off for not taking medication. Talking of medication; I was being doped for arterial degeneration (passive smoking related), blood pressure etc. The side effects were pretty rough; gum desease, guts trouble, trots, sleep problems, tiredness to mention a few. Decided to quit all pills and potions.....never fealt better.

Nick, Im not sure what "treat" means but, that room sure is coming along.  When do you expect it to be habitable? Won't be long I'm sure.

Are you putting a regulation size pool table in there, or is it a Snooker table?  Sure looks like it will be a "fun" room!!!

Little late getting home tonight, last minute customers.  Got home, everyone was insistent on going to the movies, so saw Oceans 13.  Pretty good, not much different in the story line, but still a good story.

Sorry missed your call Chief, no problem everything is cool.  No worries.

Adam I think we were posting at the same time.  What is your major?  How big is the layout?  Post some pictures when you can.

I saw some posts from Reggie on another thread.  It would be great if he would come over and say how everyone is doing.   His daughter, train layout and the job.

Buckeye that's a good looking mess of fish.  (Speaking of that is "mess of fish" a midwestern colloquialism, or common everywhere?  I've always heard it used in reference to fish that are being prepaired for cooking or have been cooked.)

I've been playing around with trying to print some panoramic scenes.   Apparently, with either Photo Shop, or Elements, there is a wizard which makes it relatively easy.  So going to give it a go.

Take care all, Hope everyone goes well with the Drs. !!!!!!

No Dewey.  Wake Med is Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.  Big heart and etc hospital.  Its about 10 miles from me.  I prefer Rex though [which is now part of the UNC Hospital System.  I can understand now as you shortened Wake Forest Medical.  We call it Baptist Hospital.  Great folks there.  Boman Gray is a great school [guess it is still named that].  Turns out some fine Dr's.

Bed time.  Don B, will try you again tomorrow.

BTW: if this software gets any worse, I think I'll move to OGR [and that is bad].  Just quoted Dewey and it says "non matching quote blocks in post".  It drops posts.  It has to be clicked on more than once or it freezes and just sits.  Sometimes I come back and it has dropped my sign in and I have to re-sign in.  Sometimes it says I am not signed in and then goes to my account showing I am signed in and then I go back to CTT forum and I am signed in.  Changes font sizes right in the middle of typing.  Wastes more time.SoapBox [soapbox]

I hear voices too...but they don't argue with each other, man that's wierd.

You have dimensions for the new room where the trains will reside right?  I say build it on the floor!  Just make the main lines shorter to save some time.  It's a great trial to see what you like and dislike about your layout.  I guarantee you'll make changes.  Then in the fall you can go crazy with the finished product!

Look at mine...It's on chip board, and I have to turn the switches manually.  So???

(retorical arguement...at least it's not carpeted chipboard)Whistling [:-^]

Build it...  Build it...  BUILD IT!

Besides...We haven't seen any photos of your trains.

Hi Lisa

I mailed you regarding the Gargraves track/visiting Banner Elk,etc. I sent as a "reply" on one of your older posts and hope it arrived.

Doctors evaluated Barbara today at Wake Medical Center and recommended gamma radiation known as "gamma knife" for treating her tumor. The newest gamma techniques have been 98% successful and far less invasive than cranial surgery, with much less side effect damage to facial nerves, etc. This is very precise application of radiation, as precise as a laser beam and guided directly to the tumor by by digital technology templates. No skin burn, no hair loss, no nausea, etc.

The "Skull Surgeon" noted that he would have to make a fairly large hole and "lift" the brain to access and remove the tumor and that procedure alone caused many after effects, some permanent, and long rehab in older folks. Although it is not his field, he recommended the gamma knife procedure.

She is scheduled for the procedure on August 1 at Baptist Hospital.

Dewey, Wake Med is not that far from me.  Next time, call me and I will try to arrange a visit and keep you company.  Dr. is right about the lifting the brain thing.  Mom had that done several years ago.  Hurt he short term memory,  Not bad at first.  Has gotten real bad in the last three years.  She may eventually have to be cared for constantly.  Adding your wife to my prayer list.

Almost time for Mad Men on AMC [10 PM EDT].  The Sapronos and etc writers and etc are doing this new series [every Thursday at 10 PM].  Got home in time to read some posts and now to pop corn.  Later.

Its going to be TMCC only, with it hooked up to allow conventional control on both mains. The thing I hate is the only way to get traditional equipped locos is to buy sets, traditional diesels dont come equipped sold buy themselves.
