ROCKFORD - Fire officials are calling a fire that damaged the Park District's trolley an accident. The fire happened just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday in a trolley barn at 324 N. Madison Street. The fire caused $50,000 worth of damage, though it's still unclear the extent of the trolley's damage.

They're going to rebuild it.

I'm looking for a good cane pole to take my youngest fishing. I've botched most of the Walmart-esqe reel and rod sets.

Doug - That's really unfortuante about the trolley.  There's lots of history with it.  It runs through a park along the Rock River, and goes through the 1 hill in town at Sinnissippi park.

REMEMBER TO TAKE IT EASY, AND ENJOY THE FISHING !!!!

Garyson – The part of the Delaware I'll be on is freshwater. You have 700 acres?! If I were you, I'd buy an ATV :) My friend took me to his summer house in PA and I drove a Quad for the first time. That was probably the most fun I've had in a very long time. Those things are very dangerous though. Why wait until Fall to start the layout? Isn't that when school starts and you'll be busy?

Jim - As far as my final, not as good as I hoped. I think I got a B but my other exams were 90s. I was borderline A. B is still very good for me, and I'm not complaining.

Chief - I think I have 2 more years or so (hopefully). I should be graduating by the end of this year, but I transferred and changed majors. We'll see how quickly I could catch up. By the way, great joke. I'm going to have to save that. I added my name to my signature.

I'm going to the train room now. I'll be adding bracing to the legs, and squaring the benchwork. Finally I'll drill the plywood to the benchwork to keep it square. That's whats planned, lets see what I get done.

I just checked the forecast and it looks like scattered strong thunderstorms are coming.

May get in trouble for this one:

The Man Rules
At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down

Finally , the guys' side of the story.
(
I must admit, it's pretty good.)
We always hear
"the rules"
From the female side.

Now here are the rules from the male side.

These are our rules!
Please note.. these are all numbered "1 "
ON PURPOSE!

1. Men are NOT mind readers.

1. Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
(this is my personal favorite)

1. Sunday sports: It's like the full moon
or the changing of the tides.
Let it be.

1. Shopping is NOT a sport.
And no, we are never going to think of it that way.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem
only if you want help solving it. That's what we do.
Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
In fact, all comments become Null and void after 7 Days.

1. If you think you're fat, you probably are.
Don't ask us.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the
other one

1. You can either ask us to do something
Or tell us how you want it done.
Not both.
If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials..

1. Christopher Columbus did
NOT need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings.
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not
A color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it
will be scratched.
We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," We will act like nothing's wrong.
We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, Expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...
Really .

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as trains baseball
or
golf.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape.
Round IS a shape!

1. Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight;

But did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.

May God Bless your needs

LOL. Good morning from a muggy and grey Crystal Lake where it really stormed last eve. We sent this weather on to Mike C (cheapclassics) in Indiana... I think I pushed it a bit with work yesterday so I am trying to rest today.

Hey Lee, got a Harbor Freight down there?  Someone posted multimeters for some very low price. If you are looking for permanent mounting, they can be done that way too.  Might not be as attractive as others.

Joke for the day:  [think Grayson has heard worse]

A very attractive blonde woman from South Alabama arrived and bet twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) on a single roll of the dice She said, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I play topless."

With that, she stripped to the waist; rolled the dice; and yelled, "Come on, baby....Southern Girl needs new clothes!"

As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up-and-down.... and squealed..."YES! YES! I WON! I WON!" She hugged each of the dealers...and then picked up her winnings and her clothes, and quickly departed.

The dealers stared at each other dumfounded. Finally, one of them asked, "What did she roll?" The other answered, "I don't know...I thought you were watching."

Moral -

Not all Southerners are stupid.

Not all blondes are dumb.

But all men.......are men.

Morning all.  Man, did I over sleep.  Well, not really as retired can do that. Laugh [(-D]  Got a ZW core from EBay last night.  When it comes, will install it in the ZW with bad core.

Good morning Grayson.  Put you some track down on the carpet.  That is what I did for several years.  You'll catch grief from some of these bums but it is in jest.  Gives you some "running" time.  Fasttrack will work good on carpet.  Actually I had a circle of it from my Polar Express set.  It stayed together and leaned against the wall when not used.  Shipped it to a buddy as I had track laid on the floor and never used anymore.  You can use that for "test" running your engines.

Hi everyone,

Well, I'm very happy to say I just finished a summer class today. I got back from taking a 3 hour final exam tonight (Summer feels great!). Now I can get back to work on the train room. I'm going to try to get to sleep early (heh, its 1am already). I want to get up before the heat.

When you guys aren't talking trains, your talking about fishing. I haven't gone since I was around 5 or so. Even then, I used cheap fishing rods from K-mart. My friend recently invited me fishing on the Deleware river this August. I was curious if you could point me to a website that could help me buy good gear. I don't know where to start. Hopefully your responses won't get lost in the pot. Maybe send me a PM.

Thanks

Lionel2986 [give us a name or nickname, may have missed as hard to read all the posts since sleepyhead me went top bed last night].  Check Bassproshops.com and Cabelas.com.  Great quality fishing equipment.  As Grayson said, some good things at Walmart.  What to buy depends on what kind of fishing you are doing.  Word of warning:  Don't listen to any advice on fishing from Buckeye.  LAZ is a "half-way" fisherman. Whistling [:-^]Laugh [(-D]  Good luck on your exam.  How much more time do you have before you get your degree?

No rain last night.  Lots all around but none on the "rock".  Might actually have to mow grass. Shock [:O]  Will get my SOUTHERN made JD out.  Wink [;)]

BTW 2986: the reason I go by Chief and Buckeye uses his handle, we are both named Frank.  We have a Frank53.  Keeps confusion down.  Not like all the John's and Jim's and so on.  Sure am glad we only have one BRENT and FIFE.  Couldn't stand anymore. Laugh [(-D]

I would Florida today if it were not for my parents and my mother-in-law who live down here.  To me Florida is RIP-OFF capital of the U.S.!!!

The grocery stores keep raising prices too!

Like eZAK mentioned about buying volt meters on line and saving money, an easy example $78.00 locally for one panel style volt meter-on line $78.00 for four volt meters with shipping.

The weather is hot & humid, around 90 in the afternoon, no rain today.

Good morning, all!

It's been a while since I've posted here. We've had a rather busy and eventful summer. I've scanned the threads and noticed that it's been an "eventful" summer for a lot of folks. Hope those with physical ailments are doing better.

Not doing much of anything with trains these days. I did get the new CTT and read it - very good issue.

Chief, I look forward to seeing you next month when you come to Prattville. Buckeye, if you plan on travelling near here, let me know.

Hope eveyone is hoving a good day!

Seriously.  I think I went to highschool with the girl in the picture...Is it OK to say girl...we were still in high school.

Do you have any more information on the photo???

Sorry Kurt, no info on the pic.  I had seen this a couple years ago when I was on the PSU Football Boards and they were talking about Mullets.  Someone found a pic of a guy in a Michigan Jacket with a mullet and it just snowballed from there... then someone posted this pic and said it was the Michigan Mullet Man and his family...

LOL!

Had a good time last night with all this... Susan was asking about it this morning too... she had fun looking at the old pics of Buckeye... she wants to scan pics of me and post them... no way!  I didn't wear my hair that way by choice!

Oh, and I knew a girl growing up that looked a heck of a lot like that woman in that photo.  We were good friends till I moved away in 10th grade.

Going to LHS tomorrow to pick up more track.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rainy in SE Indiana but still very warm and humid with temps in the 80s.  We had a soccer contest last night as calling it a game would not be appropriate.  We had ten players to start and they had eight and it looked to be a long evening as it was very humid.  One of their players evidently had a bad day as he was taking it out on the referee.   The ref tried to get him to shut up with a yellow card and when the player kept complaining, the ref ejected him.  We wound winning 11-2 and just about everybody on our team scored, including myself.  It was a good practice for us, and we managed to clinch second in the standings.  The other team in contention for the title played after us and they had to win to beat us.  We ate at Fazzoli's again.  Next week is the tourney.

Kpolak, I hope your wife gets her surgery soon.  Prayers are going out to all who need them.  We had just the usual fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 62 degrees. Going up to 80, today, with thunderstorms coming.

Up early today. Big storm hit and thunder was loud. Calm now, but more on the way. Looks like a day inside. Good time to run trains and have some fun. Need to get a few things together for the layout. I have to make some new signs for the Dairy.  Spelling was off that day.

Gas prices have stayed high.  People around here are cutting back on all activities. That's a shame in the summer.

Kurt.....Prayers out for your wife. Hope it isn't too serious.

Dining car has just arrived. Sleepy waitress is drinking coffee. Breakfast is coming shortly. Time for a smile.Big Smile [:D]

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Grayson:  Good morning!

Jim (SF):  I found Bass pro shops web site very easy to use, and much more informative than Cabellas.  For fishing.

My wonderful wife was feeling pretty bad the other evening (gall stone thing).  I finally made her call the Surgeon in the morning, I put in a call to her Doctor a few hours later.

Had blood work done the next day.  Doctor called 7:00pm the next evening (after hours) glad we found a great doctor.  She said, next time this happens she needs to get to the ER.

Surgery moved up twice in the last few days to mid-august.

Prayers for her please.

Thank you,

Kurt

Morning to all.  Just brewed a fresh pot.  Been pretty busy with the new school. Not much train news, it's either been too hot in the garage or I've been too tired. We had dinner with some friends last night.  I realized talking with them that I met him a few weeks after their daughter was born.  Of course, she was 31 on her last birthday and has two little girls of her own.  Time flies when you are having fun.

Jonadel - good to hear from you. You'd have loved G'burg last week.  Big Bike Week,  25,000 motorcycles were in town. Loud, loud, loud.

Doug Murphy - glad your eye is on the mend.

88- Cool photo, either a good photoshop job or a family with a sense of humor.

Wish we could catch some rain. It was all around us here yesterday but we got nothing save for a few drops.  Been watering the tomatoes.

You all have a great day.
