Good morning from New England.

A big Nor'easter rolled through here on Friday, leaving 15" of snow. The kids loved it!

Lots of train running this weekend. Mostly post war Hudsons and some Thomas, James, and Percy.

Have to go visit Dr. Tinker. My 2055 is fixed. Also need to buy some brushes for my new tender.

Have a great day, all!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 25 degrees. Sky is clear. Suppose to go up to 45 today with , maybe, some afternoon rain showers. Sure wish it would turn warmer.

Today is a busy day. I have to take one of the boys to the Vet, this morning. He has got a cough. Allergies may be the problem. Weather isn't helping. Usually gets this every Fall and Spring. Needs a shot and some antibiotics. Then, off to the store for a few things. This afternoon, I may have time to work on the layout. Been doing a few litle things every day, to get the scenery going. So far, so good.

Here comes the Dining car. Ready for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good morning all,

It is cool and cloudy today in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s and rain is forecast.  I was hoping to get on the "dining car" before it headed to "Points East", but I see where I was late this morning.  I went to the YMCA for treadmill yesterday and later on in the afternoon I went on a walk with my wife as well.  I watched a tape of the F-1 race yesterday.  Kimi Raikkonen got off to a good start with Ferrari with a win, but Scott Speed was a DNF.  The IRL starts up this Saturday in Homestead.  I ran the 318E set a little this weekend, and I picked up sticks and trash in the yard.  At least I do not have to mow or snowblow right now.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' Boys!  What a weekend here in Maryland!

The Twerps, oops I mean Terps, blew it against Butler and should be home about now to get an education.  The Lady Turtles took care of Harvard and have advanced to the second round, they are a totally different team with Kristie Toliver!

Fife - the misses said I look like a chipmunk!  LOL!

Mitch,
Have fun in WV!  Hope the trip goes well.  See you Saturday!

Buckeye,
Hope you have recovered from your St. Patty's Day Celebration!

Jim,
I take it the tender arrived?  Hope it didn't disappoint!

Hi All,

12:35 GMT here in a cold but bright Peterborough. Just woke Zzz [zzz] up, got to sleep at 08:00 this morning. Worked most of yesterday and right through the night on a pure water system upgrade in Oxford. System could only be shut down completly between 02:00 and 06:00. Had a bit of snow over night.

Jim, I havent heard from John B, hope he is OK. Maybe he is continuing his pub survey. Or has his trains up and running.

Going to cook myself some breakfast..I mean lunch.Smile [:)]

Brent,

The tender arrived Friday. I took the shell off to clean it up. Looks great now. So then I was looking at the whistle motor. It looked different than others I have, so, being the curious type, I started taking it apart. I got one of the brushes stuck inside the brush tower and damaged it trying to remove it. Never even got a chance to see if it whistled. But fear not! I'm only 2 minutes away from Dr. Tinker, a Lionel repair and parts guy. I'll go over to see him tomorrow and pick up a new set of brushes and springs when I collect my 2055.

Thanks again, Brent. I'm very happy with the tender. Thanks for getting it to me so soon!

Good Morning from the Bluegrass!

It's a cool 36 degrees and breezy this morning, with expected rain and possible thunderstorms.Sad [:(]  Not much on the schedule today other than studying for my Hebrew mid-term; this stuff is crazy hard; give me a philosophical, historical, or theological concept to disect and analyse any day over this stuff.  "And this too shall pass, and hopefully so do I."

The race in Atlanta was pretty good yesterday, all except for the last few laps; did I mention that I don't like Jimmy Johnson.  My guess is that if Tony didn't need the points so badly he probably would have just held his ground and bumped Jimmy's rear quarter pannel; but Tony needed points more than the win, so he did the right thing.  Good thing is that Tony jumped 7 places in the points from 14th to 7th.  Mr. Consistency strikes again!

Talked to my father last night, and he's going to send me a picture of the control pannel that's on his layout, he doesn't think that he has a good pic of the layout as a whole, but he's also looking for an image of his track plan and when I get them I'll post them here.

Morning all, only one case today and it's not mine.  I will go help out a bit, but it is a lot easier when you are not the captain of the ship so to speak.  Anyway, got a little train time in with my 4 year old.  He really likes them but was not feeling too well last night.

I am making slow progress on the layout.  It seems to have taken quite some time to get to this point, and it will be some time longer till I start scenery.  Oh well.

Hope y'all have a great week.

Dennis

Jim,
You broke it already!  LOL!!!!

Glad you like it!  Did you look at the coupler truck?  Looked rather beat up to me, and that was not from my years of owning it!

Good morning from a grey Chicago where it is supposed to warm up (and rain - a lot - sorry for those of you would have to use O'Hare). A happy belated birthday to Brent and a belated congratulations to Reggie on both his route and CDL.

Jim F, Too bad your BiL and family has to move. I'm glad BoA is keeping him though.

Spent the weekend chipping wallpaper and caring for some friends going through a tough spot; took a break to cut up a Lionel tunnel portal to try to piece it around the visible tunnel entrance. Doesn't look good so far. Snow's all gone here but it's still cold.

Mike C., I heard civilians can now drive themselves around the Brickyard for $400 instead of having to just ride.

Well, just checked the transcript of my daughter's latest IMing with her boyfriend - have to have a little chat tonight.

Brent,

The couple truck didn't look out of the ordinary to me, but I didn't put it on a track . . . The only thing about it that I noticed was that it was colored Black with a Sharpie marker. I'll remove the coloring with some alcohol and blacken it, the trucks, and wheels with gun bluing.

Morning all!

Had a busy weekend. Worked with some frinds at the World's Greatest Hobby show in Ft Worth this past weekend. Wow! Great show and it was packed! We had a layout at the show and the kids hanging on it per linear foot of viewing area exceeded anything else there!

Found and bought a neat book on the history of Grand Central Terminal. Also bought some vehicles, particularly some Athearn 1:50 JD tractors for the layout for just $2 each.

Saw the Atlas O 0-6-0 switcher protoype - sweet!. The rep said it may not be out until mid-year. A bit late - but they are trying to make sure their first scale steamer introduction top notch. Also saw the MTH Coors train - not impressed. It kind of misses the boat but will likely appeal to Coors collectors.

Somehow I also managed to take my son fishing yesterday morning (very early) and a buddy and I hired a fishing guide to take us out. Got a couple of 5 lb Stripers along with a good number of smaller ones.

Doug - buddy - I feel your pain man. We are going through the same thing. Banged Head [banghead]

Jim F - I agree - we seem to have lost a couple of folks. Hopefully they are just busy doing other stuff.

Have to fly to DC this afternoon - back on Wed.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Winter just won't give up!  Been snowing, a lot this morning.  Main highway nearby (RT 8) is reported to be very icy and partially closed.  Heard lots of sirens a while ago, may have been a nasty traffic accident.  Hope it clears up some before the homeward commute later today.  Traffic can be a nightmare when the weather is like this.

Anyone have any experience with "Internetlumber.com?"  I found their site while looking for maple wood dealers.  They have a 20 board foot package that would be just about enough for a project I have in mind.  Haven't found any local suppliers yet.

Tsk,tsk, ATS Jer, you took the "block" out of the 12 gauge 'berg and have more backup in yours than I do in mine.

I had mine with me in '00 while strolling a couple hundred feet from my truck,on the backside of my farm a few weeks subsequent to heart surgery, when a "stealth" Rotweiller nailed me from behind. I got a little "chew" on one ankle and shin before I got two loads into him and a pellet or two thru a boot into the flesh of my foot. Messy solution but effective.

Now stroll with a 40mm auto handgun. Lot of Deer because its a dormant farm and and still a lot of dogs roaming according to a neighboring Farmer.

OK... wife just called... seems someone told her that if we go to North Carolina we can get furniture at a discount by buying direct from the factory... so question is...

How do you know who makes the furniture you are interested in?  I found a sofa, chair, and ottoman that I really like and want to see where it is made...

I know someone is going to say, 'Look at the furniture, it will tell you', that is fine I can go back to the dealer and get that info, but what I'm wondering is if the same factory makes different furniture for different name brands... Do Broyhill and Thomasville get their furniture from the same factory, for example...

Sorry for not being train related, but I know there are a few North Carolinians here...

LOL!  I bought my 12 ga. late last fall and haven't had a chance to take it out hunting yet, so I haven't stuck a plug in it yet, this allows for more pellet on target when dealing with pests.  We get coyotes, possum, and raccoon around here that all need to be "chased off". Wink [;)]

Wow, you miss a day (or two), you miss a lot here!

Well, firstly Colin my Dad had cancer on (the whole!) kidney, they removed it, then he had cancer on his lung, and took a hand sized protion of it out.  It has been almost 7 years, he's off chemo for another 6 months.  He is 72 and still teaches scuba with my Mom (she's 70).  Atittude will help your grandpop over this.  My Grandmom had 3 strokes before it really took a toll on her and she past when she was 87.  AND was pretty functional up to the end (she had trouble walking after the 2nd one).  Prayers to ya my brother, I know what your going through!

As fer the trains:  I finally got my CNJ Beep, I really like it, but it seems slow...but from what I see on the "boards" this is normal.  I recieved my CTT box car to day, and it sure is a nice one!!

Found out from the eteranlly wise one (my bride Bow [bow]Whistling [:-^]), that we will be moving, and the 4th bedroom is MINE!! Trains, firefighters hotwheels all in one place!!!  Now just have to find the place....Sign - Dots [#dots]!!!!

Weather here has been either in the 70-lo 80's or 40-mid 60's.  Wish it would be "normal",  however an Easter trip to the home land (New Jersey) should bring this waether thing into perspective.  Been 15 years since my last Easter with the fam, my daughter hadn't arrived then.  It'll be her first with most of the family. Very excited!!!!

Sorry is been a while, work is crazy (sort of like myself), but have been lurking about.

Prayer and wishes to all who need 'em.  Congrats to all the birthdays and happy occasions!

Till later!

Kidney stones are no joke .

Brent the furniture question is a good one and don't know the answer. Do know thou some of the furniture places are shutting down and moving over seas (like everything else)

Also did you see my comment about the K-Line B&O Budd set at local Hobby Shop for $150.00 in OB I guess its a no thou as with what all else you have bought lol.

Bob,
Yes I saw your note - right now it's a no-go because of the other purchases... wife is going to go nuts if I buy too much more right now!

I actually had to promise her, and I have to stick by it this time, that I'm not buying anything else for a while.  I am not going to be taking as much cash with me to York in April... no biggie there, as I have COMPLETELY run out of storage space for trains...

Dewey, good luck with the dog situation.  You may want to hire a trapper.  Not much opportunity to shoot them.  Just don't do the poison thing, know someone who had to pay a big fine for killing some wild dogs that way.
