A perfect example is Buck's thread about "The Polar Express" coming out on DVD...everybody stayed on track until some weenie brought up The Leg Lamp from "The Christmas Story"... What a dimwit!

Can't wait to see what the UP does with the Chicago and North Western - they still have three unpatched units roaming the system - they could repaint one of 'em. Gotta go get a Piels...

My idea of fun would have been to ride the Empire Builder and share a bottle of Ballentines and a can of spam with the lady in that sleeping car.

I actually hiked a few miles down an active double mainline in Wv, this weekend.

It was a beautiful clear crisp morning in the Allegheny mountains with the trees in full fall color. It was a nice hike, and I saw three trains in a couple of hours. I got some pics, I will try to post them later. One was a CSX coal drag.

Craig, add some real crumbled up bacon bits to those cheesy grits with a sprinkle of sliced green onion. Let me know what you think if you ever try it.

Back in '98 got to see a coal drag come down the New River Gorge at the arch steel bridge.
It came by just as we had made down to the old river bridge Cool!

Looking down to the old bridge atop the new, you can see the railbeds on both sides of the river.

Is Ballantine still around? Great ad, David! My favorite regional beer was Schlitz. Hmmm, actually my favorite beer is any beer. Mmmm, beer.

Dave,

I gotta try some of that ballantine, don't think I ever had it.

I was thinking the same about the coffee pot.

This thread is a hoot![:o)]

This weekend I was in West Virgina and had Cheesy grits for breakfast. They had melted chedder in with the grits, it was the best grits dish I have ever had. Try it!

Very good. Based on the fact that, " Don't Ya Just Know It " , is the only
45 record I have, of "Huey Piano Smith " that is the song that I meant.
Nice information.
