To be honest, I think commercial buildings had the A/C units up on the roof. They look like huge boxes and haven't changed a whole heck of a lot. I'd also venture to say that most places, like warehouses, did not have A/C in the 50's. Commercial A/C was more for stores, theaters, restaurants, etc.

I had a '68 Roadrunner--got broadsided by a drunk in '69 and it was totaled[:(] I still look at the GTO's at the Good Guy's Car meet in July and drool. I've said for years I would never ever own another Ford product (two terrible experiences) but when I look at the new Mustang convertible I think I could change my mind[8D]

Today's Washington Post reports a man in New York (upstate) nearly completed an 18,000 piece jigsaw puzzle, the world's largest.

He was, however, missing one piece in the end.

He never did find the piece but suspects that the family beagle ate it.

At last report, the beagle isn't talking.

I had to laugh when I read it, b/c last night, I was placing some trim on my toy train warehouse door and as I was working on a different part of the project, BB the beagle came by and chewed it off and ran away with the trim.

I can never seem to get mad at her and always end up laughing. People tell me I should be more of a disciplinarian, but I guess I'm just a pushover when it comes to beagles.

Actually, the other portion of the warehouse project I was working on was some vent pipes going up the side, like I see on some warehouses. I'll have photos by next week.

I still can't figure out how industrial air conditioning units looked in the 1950s, the era I'm portraying.

I've gone all thru the internet but the air conditioning companies, as well as ASHRAE, just post the history timeline w/out any photos.

It's very frustrating.

I did, however, find a hot lady cooling herself in front of one of the first air conditioning units, likely in the late 1920s (I never had air conditioning myself growing up):

Since I'm marrying my 2nd ex-wife for my 3rd marriage, we may forego all of the hoopla. Besides, I'd rather be running the trains than going thru a tedius wedding ceremony. Once you've had a couple of weddings, you find that they're pretty much the same.

We're traveling to Israel and Switzerland for 2 weeks in Dec and Jan coming up.

Asked my buddy what he's having for Thanksgiving and he replied, "steak." When I was a kid, Turkey was the traditional meal. Apparently, people just eat what they want nowadays, which is fine with me. I think I'll go for the gobbler. BB the beagle agrees.

And, next time you have a bad day on the train layout, check out what happened to this guy, and you can be thankful during Thanksgiving that it wasn't you!!!!:

David, there's just something about the contributions of multiple posters to a forum rather than a single user blog that causes me to prefer a forum, that said - I review a fair number of blog aggregator sites - there's not much for model railroading in general or railfanning in particular.
