Hey JIMBO,
Just curious but under your MUG SHOT what will your quote be for 2006?
Could it be, "Remember NO GRITS for 2006"?

Way to go, Vergun...you got us off topic again! Now it's about Our First TV We Can Remember HA!
How about a Sears Silvertone 1948, with a whopping 8 inch screen! I think I watched "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie" on it...I think the ONLY TV station in the Quad Cities was WOC in Davenport, Iowa, then...
Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

Well, I'm not as old as some of you ancients, but when I was a kid, I recall getting our 1st TV (around 1962?) when I was about 5. It had 3 channels and a couple UHF. It was black and white and the only folks who could afford the color TVs were the rich folks and those on welfare.

Shows I fondly remember were not all that educational. Stuff like Batman, Superman, Speed Racer, Moose and Bullwinkle, Green Acres (really dug the train, man), Hogans Heroes, Combat, I love lucy reruns (even in 60s), and later when Star Track came on, that was really cool (lost in space was somewhat cool).

The new Star Track episodes look more like soaps or psychological studies. The old Star Track episodes had more action and adventure. You know, hand to hand combat with monsters and other critters.

I also enjoyed the News with Walter Cronkite.

Occasionally, we'd have to leave the TV when the air raid sirins went off. We'd head for the nuclear shelter.

Up another $2 bucks! It used to be an increase every two years, then yearly, now it's twice a year. Well, you need to pay that network that stands behind you, like in the commercials. Ya right. $$$$$$$$

CSI Miami and NY, Commander and Chief, Law and Order SVU, West Wing and Desparate House Wives [If I'm not in a plane]. That is all the commercials I can stand. [:(] Rest of the TV is HBO, SHO Time, MAX, Westerns Channel, OLN, OC, TCM, or the Oncore channels. I hate commercials. You have in one hour, 30 minutes of show and 30 minutes of commercials. I did a quail hunt for ESPN several years ago. 30 minute show. Shot hunting for a day and a half. Aired 15 minutes of hunting and 15 minutes of commercials. [V]

Not a relic, David. I watch only sports - usually with the sound off - and some of the Disc. channel shows like Amer Chopper and Monster Garage. We only get the most basic of basic cable - for nearly $20 / month too - up another $2 bucks this month.

Excellent American Chopper last night, showed the life history of the Teutell's. Kind of nice not to hear all the yelling.

I do need to stop watching Miami Ink................ they never show anyone with a Big Boy on their biceps[:D]

Well, to be frank, the reason I wasn't on the usual menu of Paula Zahn's nip tuck (or whatever) and travel ch train shows and American Chopper, is b/c a mighty wind came up a week ago, blowing down my satellite dish.

I get home in the dark every night and haven't had a chance to resurrect it so I'm using rabbit ears fashioned from wires on a very ancient TV, which only gets 2 or 3 channels; Bonanza fortunately.

Am I the only person who doesn't watch today's sitcoms and reality shows?

I watched some Bonanza reruns the other night.

Heard on the radio someone, probably one of the pablim puking tree huggers want to sue the US for putting "In God we trust" on money. Bet if you gave him some money with "in God we trust", he wouldn't turn it down.

Wow - spent the day helping some friends move into their new house. We told them that building a new house would help with their fertility problem - they have had several miscarriages. Voila - she's pregnant and on bedrest so she won't lose the baby. She's at 14 weeks - 11 more and the baby will be okay - they could keep it alive if they have to do so. They closed on the house yesterday. There were 4 of us with trucks and an SUV and we made 2 full trips - still didn't get everything! Guess I'll have to go back again tomorrow and make a couple more trips. Luckily, I was off for Veterans Day.

To all you Veterans - Thanks!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I can't begin to tell you how much I dislike synthetic midi files, talk about cruel and unusual punishment. Those should be played in Guantanamo Bay 24/7. I'm going to have to turn on the stereo with the original Fat man to get that sound out of my head[:)]

On the eight day of christmass little chiefie went out,
and went just back in, want het was koud.. (haha, means because it was cold in dutch, but it made a rhyme..)

This thread is getting an award from the ministery of silly walks, because it's wandering anywhere except any direction particular.
May be we get a bit of money from the ministery to deepen out this silly thread..
Whay not have a chat with the french?

A: If you will not show us the Grail, we shall take your castle by force!
S: You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottoms, son of a
silly person! Ah blow my nose at you, so-called "Arthur Keeeng"! You and
all your silly English Knnnnnnnn-ighuts!!!

A: (getting mad) Now look here, my good ma--
S: Ah don' wanna talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food-trough
wiper! Ah fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and
your father smelt of elderberries!

Thanks for the re-assurance! Actually, I'm originally from Texas (got out before the guards made their 3rd rounds). The reason I understand what's being said here is that my 2nd cousin, twice removed on my mother's side of the family once saw Fats Domino dressed up as Santa at a department store in Baton Rouge where a Lionel train was being demonstrated (see? relevancy!) He was reciting "The Night Before Christmas on Blueberry Hill".

.....and a very touching moment, it was, for sure.

WOW..I would have loved to hear that.
Thanks for the info.
