Good Morning - Gray and cold 18 I think - snow later today and TWICE on Thursday - I'm over all this Snohizo crap. After work was 2 hot dogs on Honey Wheat bread and bit 0f Running Scared movie then to bed. 2 Aleve dulled my back pain - I fear more snow blowing and shoveling will be due on Thursday.FINALLY (it's been a MONTH) they are going to ship my EP-5 PRR and 3 other passenger cars - Not sure what's going on with Stout Auctions but at least it's being shipped. I need 2 pantographs for the EP-5 - same as the Post War GG1s. Once it gets here, I'll look for them. Not much else happening - tonight I have a Line/Exec meeting at the firehouse. Hopefully this will be short - I'll need to get there a bit early to do the bills as Trustee. I'll get Wednesday night off then Thursday is regular company meeting.Fife - Sweet!! Legacy - nuff said - Hope they get the money -
Good to see you, Roy!!

Good morning/afternoon all!
Feel fairly decent today.
My taste - smell not so affected - but my taste is. As DJ noted it is hard to eat when food tastes bad. Luckily there are several things that are ok like chicken, rice, fish, noodles, plain veggies (think Green Giant cans) and some beef. Pork is awful. Honey nut Cheerios OK. Bran flakes (my favorite) Ugh. Bread - ugh. They say my taste should return in about 6-9 months. A lot of nerves were cut/damaged in the surgery - and then the radiation zapped the ones that were left. There is a possibility that some taste loss/change could be permanent. I have an older friend where her taste changes were permanent after similar surgery/cancer.
Felt good enough to do a project on the El Cam yesterday. Pulled the pressure plate on the tilt steering column and replaced the turn signal cancel cam (and horn sliding contact ring). That is one heck of a spring and clip to remove/replace.
Cold here - they have been changing temp predictions hourly. Was not supposed to go below mid-high 30's last night. 30 at 8 am and still 30 at 11 am. Was going to hit 50 today but front dipped early I guess. Now we will be below or near freezing for the next 7 days. Bad for you guz up nawth I think.
Regards, Roy
Mornin' boys. Partly sunny & 27 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Just got off facetime with Ms. Kelly. She showed me the baby in his swing, 5 pt harnessed in as if he were in a F-18. First time parents...
The county owns the R-O-W. There are various memorandums pertaining to upkeep. Monies are provided by local hotel taxes yearly. Our local media is WCBC, and Cumberland Times-News. If you are interested, check their web pages. That's as much as I'm gonna say.
44 and cloudy right now. Sun in and out. Suppose to be sunny this afternoon. UPS store to drop off packages. Then back shots this afternoon. No Train Box work for a few days due to restrictions.
Vaccine shortage causes Durham NC to postpone mass vaccination site.
Hope all stay warm and healthy.

Great news Fife!
Flintlock, when I was in the forestry group I knew people in Saskatchewan that logged in that weather. We sent a prototype Track Feller buncher to them for testing. They put 900 hours on it up there for us. They were so far out there that they had to use Satellite phones. They are some tough guys.
Best get

Aloha. Sun coming up means it's another great day. Flintlock, I'm not going to complain about 14 below air temp this morning. I'll drive the youngest to school and jump start the middle boys 'outside' car so he can go to work.Fife, does the county own the scenic? So they can be asked for money? Or do they have some sort of relationship. I ask only because I'm curious the Illinois Railway Museum gets lots of nothing from our county - it's out in the middle of nowhere though. Glad you got to see the little guy - whisper in his ear that conventional is the best.Chief, our rural route carrier used to be great - he would take things back and forth to town for us and tell us the news too if we were out there when he came by. The developer for our subdivision named all the streets aliterratively (if I spelled that right (Tanglewood, Trailwood, Tapwood, etc) so we are always getting other peoples mail with our number on another street. Amazon is doing the same thing so we can look at the delivery photo and try to puzzle out where they left a package. lol

fifedog The scenic RR wants the county to pony up another 2.5 million for track work. Not sure that dog is gonna hunt... we shall see.

fifedog Evenin' folks. Got to meet newest grandson, finally after two weeks (no not thru USPS...). He's just a little guy, though rather alert. Too soon to tell if he leans conventional or DCS. Grandma was excited too, and is spending the night at Middle Princess's for moral support.

Yahooooo! Fife. Glad to hear it.
Good evening all,
Snowing here. Going to snow all night. Work was just busy enough to be ok. Finally got Trains and CTT. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Could be worse folks, could be a LOT worse.
I've got a friend up in La Ronge Saskatchewan, he used to post on the "Trains" Forum as "Miningman." He tells me they're down to -40 Celsius (That temp matches the Fahrenheit scale perfectly) snow is still coming and there's no end to the frozen hell in sight. I'm worried, I don't mind telling you.
Don't try and tell him about global warming, he's up to his eyes in it. (Sarcasm intended, straight from him.)
Happy Monday all! I hope everyone has a great week.
V8Vega - howzabout posting that link here, so we can check out your set-up?
Morning. Chilly but the sun is warming us fast. got to drive Miss Daisy to get pinestraw and check for new gardening/home magazines at Sam's Club. Got to go to UPS store and drop off some shipments. Maybe buy a new weather station.Growing up in rural NC, we had a postman who drove his personal car. You could set your watch at 11:30 when he always delivered the mail. Knew everyone on his route. Wanted stamps. Put cash in the mailbox with a note. Ship a package, leave him a note. If you weren't standing by the mailbox, he'd blow his horn. Run out and pay cash to ship. Not anymore. Came home last week on a rainy day. Found this.White courier lady to lazy to go to the door. She is always like that. Hispanic lady come to back, blows the horn. If we aren't here, put on porch to stay dry. Has plenty of room to turn around and drive out. That simple. She got reported with the photo. Hispanic lady always happy and friendly. Other always has an attitude. Ran new layout breaker circuits for a new Menards building. Extended a storage track to accommodate the aux tender for the N&W J. Got two more to run. That way, breaker on, layout transformers and buildings on. Breaker off, all off. Seems vaccine doses increasing here. Got word several are getting notices to get their first shots.Hope all in the cold and snow are OK. Stay warm.
Good Monday Morning!Saturday night Jenni made cornish hens and that was a great dinner. Whilst she was preparing dinner, I organized the train items in the basement and they are all in 1 spot and off the floor. I will be bringing home my First Responders set and the Log Loader she gave me for Christmas. We'll be making plans to clear out that side of the basement to make a nice layout of O, N and Z trains.Sunday we had "Brunch" and it snowed most of the day. Jenni went to play in the snow for a bit, at 3 we went outside to shovel her out. Then the Magnum was dead, fortunately, I had my battery charger and extension cord so after we finished digging out, we watched the African Queen and let the battery charge. Jenni's cousin invited us to a virtual football pool, found out later we won $100. Nope, we were too busy to watch that "football game". Stopped at BK for a quick bite, then to Mom's to dig her out. Back to Jenni's for a bit and then home. 7" and my back and shoulders are screaming at me, like Spank.....Roy - good to see you - sometime the sense of taste is overrated.....lolFife - Been looking at lighting options - so, your advice has not gone unheeded. Just need more time to get up there. I have 2 meetings this week, so that puts another crimp in the schedule. I'll refrain from the Snohizio excuse...
16F when I got up and cold - Sun is out.Off to work - not looking forward to the "special project" we all have at work. I can retire in 4.5 years --- HA!!!Back later
DJSpankyDidn't watch a lick of the game last night: we had better things to do with our time.
Us neither. Neither myself or Lady Firestorm are football fans and besides, if it's not the Giants or the Jets playin' who cares anyway?
We DID watch the "Puppy Bowl" on "Animal Planet!" So sweet you'd need an insulin shot afterward!
Aloha. Dang, it is cold here - high of zero yesterday - only single digits for the next ten days. It is a first world problem but annoying to have to jump our 'outside' car with the new battery every day. If this was more than an unusually long cold snap, I'd do something more permanent about that. I'm also driving our youngest to school and work so the older cars don't sit in the lot all day. Enjoyed the spectacle of the Super Bowl but only for a half - unmemorable commericals too. Didn't root for anyone either. Puttered around the basement.
News people told us big winter storm Saturday night. Woke up to a....dusting...LOL... did not even cover the grass. Sometimes you wonder. Finished H--- on Wheels. Was glad I saw it, but probably not watch it again, not even clips on Youtube. I hope everybody has a good day.
Afternoon all!
Missed yesterday - no real reason - I ain't doin' much...
Yes there is a bill being crafted in Congress to 'fix' the US Post Office. Local members have been inundated with complaints. About time - the release noted the underfunding issues...
Cold here but sunny today - if it materializes they are talkin' some real cold in the next 2 weeks (bad for the boys in the nawth) - seasonal for here - will have 50's and then some weeks with below freezin', particularly at night - low 20's/upper teens - when we have real snow (and let me be clear - were talking a citywide shutdown with yes, 1 -2" !) it usually happens in the Valentines Day timeframe.
If ya want an idea of what has happened to my ability to taste food - go and get a 1/4 teaspoon of raw cocoa and put it in your mouth - that is what chocolate treats taste like to me.
37 and light rain. Sausage biscuits, eggs and GRITS. [Wifey cooked] No Super Bowl for us. Use to go out to eat as no one in restaurants. Seems more and more join us. Not this year as virus thingy.
Slept late and enjoyed the ZZZZzzz.
Menards Church coming Tues. [the say] About all the buildings I can get on layout. Lots of track. Next, kitbash some buildings. Got some Lionel grain elevators and coaling stations kits. Think I can put them together and make one big building out of each. They will fit where I have single buildings already.
Doug, Wifey's reading chair in her reading corner of the den.
Have a great and safe week ahead. Hope all keep power during the winter storm up north.
Snowing now. Did errands this morning. Watched another exciting 0-0 match today. Went to Mass as well. I hope everyone has a good day.

Aloha. As Kevin said, it is bitter cold - high is supposed to be zero. Looks like we may have this for the week. Glad for the roof over our heads and heat.Fife, Oooh, thanks for the heads-up. I will have to look where I can see the P Cup finals.Doug, I'm sure the Chief's new chair would have built-in massagers and drink coolers.
ChiefEagles Wifey and Sister are off on chair shopping trips. If Wifey buys one, get call and go pick it up. "I'll feed you."

Biggie TV station guessers says wintery mix. Other say maybe. Temps in the 50's. Never gets below freezing all night.Train Box and install new building.
The cold has set in and looks like it will stay. was 2 degrees when I got up and they say -8 tonight. So yesterday I did the taxes and tomorrow we will clean the oven. May as well use that self-cleaning heat for the house.
Not much else.
Spank, you're a Jersey Guy all right!
So where did that fine stash come from? Shop-Rite Liquors, Bottle King, or a fine local independent liquor store?
I wish I could find some Schenley's OFC, but it looks like it's unavailable now.
Newspaper had article on lawmakers pushing for better results from the USPS. Union reps said they are upset with new boss's operational changes. OOOOOOooohhhh. And I thought it was too much volume, silly me...
