More rain. ⛈  TV Church.  Nothing much on agenda.  Niece in Wilmington tested positive.  Has some light symptoms.  Her Mom [sisterIL] now doesn't want us top go to Longhorn Steak House here as planed.  Self, what doe that have to do with us.  Her Mom hasn't been around her for weeks.  Plus SisterIL has had two shots [health care worker] and hubby has too.  Blonde thing.

Stay healthy and warm.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work Friday.  Watched Blue Bloods.  Watched Man City whip the Spurs 3-0 today.  Got to see the Honda train on the way to Mass tonight.  76 cars with 3 engines pulling.  They go kind of slow thru town but once clear of city limits, it really rumbles.  Watched the second set of 3 episodes from WandaVision on Disney+ tonight.  That is one of the strangest shows I have ever seen, but wife likes Paul Bettany and I like Elizabeth Olsen so it works for both of us.  Snow is supposed to hit the fan all day Monday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Cold - spent day prepping for the 0-5 lo's and teen hi's Mon/Tues. Reinsulated outdoor stand pipes - covered with insulated small trash cans - and an incandscent bulb under each to keep from freezing. Have done this for decades - works great when needed. Moved firewood under the porch. Below freezing temps do not let up until next Sat.

Feeling decent and haooy that I have started to string good days together!

Chief - glad you are finally getting the Chief vs Beavers accy permanently installed!

Here is a close up of the dynamite fuse "sparking"

Hard to believe that was 10 years ago!

Chief... Now you need to tell the whole story about the beaver.  The beavers pushed you in the pond and you went back out to get your revenge. Laugh

Some of the long time members may remember me shooting beavers at the pond with my new .17 HMR years ago.  Roy built the Beaver Revenge from the Lionel Fox and Hunter accessory.  Mounted the beaver where the fox was.  Covered the hill with beaver lodge sticks.  Mounted a beaver with dynamite and fiber sparkling fuse.  Now the beaver runs out, hunter raises his gun, shoots the beaver who runs back in lodge.  Beaver behind is going to blow up the hunter.  Been sitting on layout.  Today I mounted and powered it on layout.  Old transformer on 11 volts is powered up when layout breaker is on.  This accessory has its own an on/off switch so it doesn't run all  like other accessories on the layout.

34 and rain. No ice except a little on pines out back at neighbor's. No icy roads or bridges. Biggie TV station is trying to make it big news. Preempted the national news so they could have continued coverage. Finally a reporter found an old oak tree in a town near the VA line that big limbs had fallen off. Now they would really have it made if they could find a tree that fell. [I just laugh at them over fallen trees]

Will stay in and maybe finish project in the Train Box.

Enjoy the day.

Looks like Virginia is gonna get some serious ice over the weekend.

Oh yeah, and ain't we thrilled!  Bang Head

Oh well, the house is well stocked, there's plenty of things to keep us amused so there's no reason to go out and get in the way of the fools who think four-wheel drive means four-wheel stop.  On a slick road, as the song says, "It ain't necessarily so..."

Afternoon folks!

Forecast keeps degrading - colder and colder - buncha teens for hi/lo in the future - flurries right now - 24 out...snowhizo possible for weekend and through Monday - if certain things happen we may get a few inches. The super cold air is on the surface - yesterday it was 45-50 a mile up - perfect conditions for bad ice storms.

Have to go to my final PT in a bit. Went out and drive the Tahoe around the neighborhood and gassed up. Normal eng temp is 210, after 30 minutes only at 190.

Still feeling OK! Bad stiffness in neck and shoulders - to be expected with the surgery/radiation, and the cold.

Regards, Roy

Morning gang. Light rain and 34 degrees by the phone. Some light glaze on surfaces off the ground north of us. Messy day. Suppose to get some glaze here late night into tomorrow AM. Then rain and moves on out.

Been drinking coffee and had a blueberry turnover. News got boring.

Wifey got LG [which she swore she never would get again].  With double doors and freezer below.  Got the one that one door opens for a compartment that holds more used items so you don't open the big frig door.  Has a glass like thingy.  You knock knock and frig light comes on so you see inside.  Another thing to go wrong.  I had looked at Maytag, GE, Fridgidare amd Whirlpool.  Lady told us Samsung was bad.  [which we know as being bought back]  She has LG.  So here we go again.  5 year extended waranty.  Guess they will buy this one back too.  We feel that this is a racket.  Ins. Co. buys them back at original price.  Then you go get a replacement which the price has gone up.

Probably install Menards Church in Train Box today.

Hope all have a good day and stay warm.

Good evening all,

Snow is still drifting.  I did go for  a short walk just to get out of the house.  Not bad until you walk into the wind.  Ugh.  Quiet at work today.   I saw some pics from what Roy was talking about.  Ouch.  Insurance companies will have a field day with that one.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Afternoon all!

Cloudy and 27  - iced some last night - 100 vehicle pileup in Ft Worth this am. Report that one semi drove into the pileup at speed - 5 dead on the scene - still trying to pry folks out of cars. Mile long 'crime' scene - Ft Worth had to activate their emergency management center to organize rescue vehicles/crews/first responders, and some other vehicles to allow involved folks a place to get out of the sub-freezing temps.

Another day of feeling fairly decent (relatively) and not nauseated - I think I am not premature at this point saying I slowly improving each day - yea finally!

Depending on what one believes - Weather Channel says our low for Mon will be 1, high of 14 - ouch, that's pipe bustin' temps here (for those who take no precautions, and there are a lot of those guys - makes the plumbing co's very happy - and bad for those with no water when plumbers are all backed up for 2-4 days). We might get above freezing tomorrow afternoon.

Cake Happy B-Day Dougsnotta! Happy B-Day Cake

Our gas at Sam's Club dropped 15 cents.  Strange.

The ARCO for reg is $3.16, Costco is a couple of cents cheaper but who wants to sit in lines for 30 minutes or more plus I get better mileage in the truck with the ARCO. The Shell a half block down the street is $3.46 for reg was afraid to look at what they want for premium. Unfortunately a lot of that cost is the rediculous taxes the state tacks on.

Thanks for the B'day wishes, that is "birthday not bidet". Laugh

Guys,

That is just a picture of what it will be. The dog is just a puppy now, it was 13 pounds two weeks ago and is 21 pounds now. They are very mellow dogs but huge. This dog replaces their last one that only lived 10 years and had lots of health issues when they rescued it. Hope things are better with this one. They did not say what they paid but I bet it was plenty. Some things are better left alone.

Dennis, they live on a postage stamp and to top it off have two other dogs???

Happy Birthday DougDG, your right they will need a backhoe for a pooper scooper. Surprise

Flintlock, I will pass along the list of needs. Wink

Good morning, still.....lol

7 inches of new Snohizio - up at 730, done at 845.  I'll be going to Jenni's for lunch to dig her out then back to the grind until 630.

Regular meeting tonight, 7 PM - I may have to run the meeting, so this could be interesting.  It's a little different than running the County Meeting.

Last night was Daytona qualifying, most likely the only NASCAR race I'll watch all year.  Without the Mopars, I really don't care and the spec cars that they are proposing  are a joke.

Duels at Daytona tonight, might get to watch some.  Meeting more important.

Happy Birthday, Dougnotta!!

Kev - that ain't no dog, that's a small horse (my God Daughter had one-he was a sweetheart, just too big for a small house)

30 and cloudy - ice Sunday Morning.....wonderful......

back to work

Oh, look at that face!  Just a big rubbery bundle of love!

Mind you, I hope they realize the accessories they have to get to go with a Mastiff.

1) Castle.

2) Suits of armor.

3) Broadswords.

4) War horses.

5) A retinue of men-at-arms.

Hey, if you're gonna go medieval you've gotta go all the way!

Sitting at -1 may get into mid teens.

Hi, Son and wife came buy today for a visit with their new dog. I like him but 200LB dog at full grown???

Just a lot more puppy to love!  Tell me they named him "Cuddles."

Spank, I'd love to get back to my college weight, or even my Marine Corps weight, but I'm not going the head injury route to make it happen!

Then they went into this what the if you die thing??? I almost feel like I had better drop dead so I don't mess up their plans. KIDS the F&%$ing you get for the F&%$ing you got as my dad would say. Laugh
This morning we made a deal today to get a reverse osmosis system for the kitchen sink and fridge. So long to those 4 gallon cooler bottles of water and all those plastic bottles. Yeah, I could of done it myself but this is not to bad on cost and all is on the supplier if something craps out. The water here is very hard,,75 to 100 grain of hard depending on when you check it. 10 grain is considered hard so are water has been full of salt from the softener trying to pump out the hardness and this should fix that? Other than that just darn cold here. We have had enough.
Roy, I hope things get better on the taste front, that has to suck.
DougM, good to make those kids fight the elements sometimes. Wink

Back home from doing transportation needs survey [mainly Hispanic]. Mostly wanted transportation for comidas from Walmart and back home. Hubby has the only running vehicle at work [which is now good, before he was home, no job].

Hispanic GF and I had lunch at near Mexican restaurant. Let her order. [didn't understand anything she said to waitress] Got soft tacos. One with grilled shrimp and two with beef. Onions and etc. on the side. Beans and rice. I had a chili relleno on the side [love them]. Good

50 and cloudy. Turning cooler and rain later today. Rain tomorrow.

Cloroxed my shower. Wait and rinse in a few.

Done for today. [washing clothes to help Wifey at work/play]

Aloha. Grey and single digit cold again. Looks like we'll have another week of this. Youngest and I miscommunicated and he ended up walking home from school - good thing he is young.

That's interesting, Fife. The IRM owns its ROW of about 5 miles - and a bit beyond that is untracked - that is fortunately right off the UP (for donation deliveries). During COVID, the museum has been making money by storing cars and engines for the UP.

Good evening all,

A good day.  We got about 6 inches of snow.  Daughter in Indy got 0.  Go figure.  Made 2 trips to Aldi's to stock for next round of snow.  Work went relatively well today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
