Good evening all,

Procedure at eye doctor went went well.  Got to visit with oldest daughter and her four kids.   Ate at Fazzoli's.  Great breadsticks.  Will probably binge watch season 5 of H--- on Wheels.  While waiting for wife today made several calls regarding retirement planning.  Weather had some flurries but supposed to get really cold this weekend.  Ugh.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

The best one I saw Fife & Rich, was a car parked in front of a hydrant,  and they broke the windows in the front seat area on both sides and put a hose right thru it with a coupling right over the driver's seat, of coarse it leaked. And nothing the owner could do about it.

Standard operating procedure for firefighters when there's a car parked in front of a fire hydrant.  Firefighters don't suffer fools gladly when they've got a job to do.

The cops usually get a giggle out of it when they ticket the car too!

TGIF guys ----

Been MIA taking care of 2 driveways and had a county meeting on Wednesday, so been pretty whupped.....

Last night's drill was with a new combination tool (Combi-tool, it cuts and spreads metal) from Hurst, I took out the passenger door and A and B pillars on the passenger side, then a cut near the rocker.  Good experience, though after doing snow duty of 2+ days, I'm sore again.

Tried to pick up Jenni's HHR - it's been in the shop since Sunday for a tire repair - they killed the battery - and now it has no power steering - I think they blew the 60A fuse for the PS, but at 10 PM, I wasn't in the mood to do vehicle diagnostics.  Jeeni is pickling up a fuse after work and she'll install it later.

It was raining this morning, now the sun is out, expecting temps in the 40s today.

After I get Mom's housework done tomorrow, I'll run over to the Train Attic and see if I can get something accomplished.  I did finally finished off 2 shelves on the trusses.  Yes, Fife - I'm trying to get more lights up there, just headroom is lacking.  I also need to get my desk finished so I can move my home office upstairs.

Good to see you, Roy!!  Yeah - the FD is better organized than most local governments - I've been trained for events like this, the politicians have no clue.

That's all from here

Good morning. Got back from farms at 6:30 last night.  8,942 steps.  Fixing the timers for feeders was easy.  Then my buddy Fred made a mess of the funnel in the feeder.  Had to empty and fix that.  Then refill.  Last night, my head hit the pillow and that is all I remember. Woke up at 4:00 and got two Tylenol Arthritis and back to sleep. Woke at 5:30 wide awake. ??? Been up since then. Wifey got up at 7 and we have been chatting since. She just turned TV to QVC. Had to leave.  50 degrees and I think that part of the weather station is not working. 34% humidity and raining.  Only had .2" which is about right.

Donut Friday.  Got a Food Security meeting at the Wake Co. Extension ofc at 1. Will run by Krispy Kreme on the way. Had thick Egos with real maple syrup.

Flooded in a lot of the woods.  Path to deep woods stand and feeder flooded.  Gortex leaks.

Have a good one.

Heat wave here Doug,,,12 degrees. Dusting of snow yesterday and last night, maybe an inch.

Our daughter got her shot a week or so back. Will be getting the second soon. I have heard nothing from LaSalle county, but the Governor sure likes to get his air time on TV.

Peg leg is still around but bleeding from that stump and leaving a blood trail. That is not a good thing in this snow and the coyoties around here..

About it.

Aloha and TGIF where the thermometer stands at 4 degrees. At least it is sunny. I shoveled the driveway last night but more snow fell overnight. I'm not going out there until the temps go back up to normal.

Glad you and the Mrs. got your shots, Roy. My wife gets hers (as a nurse) in a week- this state is really screwed up the planning and distribution. Ah well.

Fife, that dish sounds delicious. What a nice present.

TGIF. Sunny & 36 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Hope to get some plaster strips onto the new section of scenery. Got the cardboard lattice work complete yesterday in the train room. I like listening to Jon Pardi and Midland, and I even played some vintage Glenn Campbell.

New parents took us out for dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant in town. I had a wonderful dish of scallops on a bed of risotto.  This was my Christmas present from Middle Princess.  Menu very pricey, but service and food were first rate.

Good evening all,

Good news to hear from Roy and Fifedog.  Getting lots of rain and wind now.  Quiet day at work but enough to keep me busy.  Got a tax issue resolved.  Going to the eye doctor....again... tomorrow.  No mail at all today.  No CTT or Trains....yet....ugh.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hey all!

Surprise. Ms and I each got a text/phone call/email last night saying we could schedule a COVID shot for today. We coordinated and scheduled appts within 20 min of each other. From the time we left the driveway to our return was only 1.5 hrs! And that included a 30 min after shot wait (15 if you do not have cancer). The county finally came up with a successful scheme and added a couple of mega-locations in the past week. The one we did was a drive through in the huge garages under the big downtown convention center. Fire dept staffed the center and they did a great job (Anj!)! Shot 2 will be scheduled the same way in about 3-4 weeks. Shot was relatively painless and no soreness from the shot at this time (6 hrs later). Glad we got this done and the county figured it out!

Regards, Roy

Morning All

Hope everyone is doing well.  Good news having the grandson come home!  Glad to see Roy getting around.  Hope the good days are starting to out weigh the bad.

Not in the running for the vaccine yet (well technically I am) but there are folks who need it a lot more than I do.

Been working on the layout here and there.  Been reintroduced to iCab from a thread on another forum so I've been playing with it a bit.  Still a remote guy at heart though.

Everyone stay warm and healthy!

Morning all.

Great news on Grandson coming home.

Not so good news on hospice nurse getting run off the road.

And I got some sad news yesterday, A good friend and my handyman, Died Tuesday. From what the wife said the symptoms to me sounded kinda like corvid-19 but she never brought that up, and I didn't want to ask. Figured she would have said so if it was and she knew it was.

Waiting for some ERR products to finish two engines. ( need that run/program switch for one ) Yes, I know how to go around it but rather just wait for it. and the other needs the AC commander board.

Otherwise not much going on here.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 26 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Should be milder (40's) after noon.  Got pellet stove running in the meantime.  Need to spend time in train room, and get started on lower level bathroom remod.  Wifey may want to go shopping today as well.

New grandson coming home Monday.  We can't wait to meet him.  Apparently, he's a party animal and a ladies man.  Reports from the nursery is when all the other newborns are asleep at night, he's putting on a leisure suit...

Drove up mountain to visit folks yesterday.  It's cold in Fifedom, but the top of the mountain makes our abode feel down right tropical in comparison.  The hospice nurses got run off the road by some teenage girl, and had to be winched out of a ditch. FifeMom enjoys seeing fresh images of her new great grandson.

Temp?. Weather station was working late night. Not this AM. New batteries. Really old so maybe needs replacing.

Out the door to the farms east. Fill and rebuild two feeders. Recharged batteries in all.

Enjoy your day and stay well.

Good evening all,

Much better day than yesterday.  Hopefully Thursday will be quiet.  Monday got Model Railroader, Tuesday got Lionel catalog, and nothing today.  Still waiting on Trains and CTT.  Usually CTT is first and MR and Trains arrive on the same day a few days later.  Crazy postal service.  Supposed to be wet tomorrow and dry for wife's eye appointment on Friday.  All this talk about MTH makes me wonder if anyone will pick up the Tinplate Line.  I doubt it.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Afternoon folks!

Up and down recovery-wise. Found a local auto glass place less than 2 mi away that will replace the El Cam windshield for a competitive price. Hooray! The bigger guys (Binswager? - Safelite) do not want to mess with it. Forcing myself to get off my duff and do a few things. Got a cheap tool from Bezos that allowed me to remove the molding. Bezos also sending reproduction molding clips (plastic) since half of mine broke on the removal, even the metal ones. I only slightly deformed one piece and was able to straighten it - but the rubber gaskets that go against the glass to prevent scratching are shot. Looks like no rust in the channel/pinchwelds! Found when I pulled the steering wheel the turn signal cancel cam pawl is cracked - which is also the receiver/lock for the horn wire assembly/sliding shoe (Now I know why it was erratic). Went back to Bezos' place and found a cam and a cheap tool for the steering lock plate removal.

Regards, Roy

Cold here too Doug but hold on!! Surprise

Thanks Banks, I hope that deer makes it. I think it may be a young buck, it comes by with three other bucks every day? I also noticed that the bottom of the wound has fur on it now.

Going to split the wood in the back of the Gator today and then fill it with dry split wood for later in the week.

Best get.

Good morning.  Off to the Vet and waited.  Only impatient was Lucy. Finn laid on the backseat as usual.  Then to BoJ's and waited in line forever.  That was strange.  Then got to window and saw their swipey thingy was not working.

Now get shave and shower.  Go to Tractor Supply and load up bags of deer feed pellets.  Headed east tomorrow.  Refill feeders for rest of winter, spring and summer. Rebuild two feeder timers and motors [very old].  Parts cheaper than buying new ones.

Wait for Vet to call.  Go pickup Lucy and Finn.  Bet they will get to them in a hurry.  Lucy will bark all the time.

Vaccine distribution a mess in NC.  Wake Co. the largest in NC is ranking 99 in getting vaccine doses.  State announced they increased doses to Wake Co.  Well, they took WakeMed's doses and gave to the County.  No increase at all.

Have a good one.

Reporter for the NYT defends her decision to not call out the Chinese government in early January when she saw them stifling news of this on social media and removing terms such as Wuhan SARS from search results.

Ever hear the New York Times headline joke?

"World Ends Tomorrow, Women and Minorities Most Affected!"

I suppose that NYT reporter felt the Wuhan story didn't fit that criterion, huh?

Our local PBS station didn't run that "Frontline," but I wouldn't assign any agenda to that.  I'm sure they'll show it eventually.

Aloha. Boy, was it cold this morning at 11 degrees. I guess that's warmer than it's supposed to be this weekend with highs below 0. Ugh. I have a number of HO friends who liked the MTS stuff but as others had noted, never bought their engines because they weren't compatible with HO's de facto DCC standard. Too bad we didn't have such a standard in O - instead of TMCC and DCS.

Hello there,

Roy.....continued Prayers

Kev.......that deer could go a long time. Son got a doe. several years ago that was missing it's front leg below the "elbow". To see it run it looked fine. The stub looked like the pads on a dogs foot. Judging by the teeth it was 3 years old.

Got about 9 inches of snohio Sunday into today, originally predicted 12 to 24. Breezy high 20s today with occasional squalls. Looking like it's gonna be winter for a while.  Chicken fajitas  were this evenings meal.

Got the plaster all repaired and a couple of electrical mods almost done in the kitchen,  paint next.

Now a shower,  hot tub and a glass of wine

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

I used to read the MR forum and I always thought many HO guys were predgedioused against MTH because they were a toy train manufacturar.

I don't think that was so much the case as MTH's DCS control system wasn't compatable with the DCC system most HO operators use. From what I've gathered that annoyed them greatly.

Also, there were some fine details missing on some MTH products that weren't missing on other HO models.  As toy train fans we learned years ago not to let such things bother us but HO people typically don't see it that way.

That's some of the things I've seen on the "MR" Forum, but as I said I don't look in there all that often.  A lot of those folks get bent out of shape over things that would have us toy train fans scratching out heads.  "Huh?  What?  Lighten up man, it's a toy!"

34 and mostly cloudy. Suppose to have sun and big wind-chill. Staying in. Wifey off to the shop.

Mobile groomer [our little buddy originally from Long Island] is here.

Tell us folks down here thanks for the record snow fall up North.

Menards factory front coming today for layout. Install and light it up. Nice heat in the Train Box.

State shorted Wake Co. about 6,500 Doses this week.   Giving them to smaller counties.

Stay well and safe.

Good Lord, Spank!

Reminds me of the snowfalls we'd get when we lived up in Sussex County!

On the other hand, there's few things prettier than garbage cans with a HUGE snow cap on 'em, kind of like a Hostess Snowball on steroids!

Aloha. Happy Towel Tuesday, when I wash all the towels in the house and collect the garbage for pickup. Looks like a full day of Zoom meetings too - but I can see the sun rise so that's a good omen for a blue sky day with all the snow on the ground. Hope points east is doing OK with this storm.
