the Train Station in Mountain Lakes

I've got to get back there one of these days, maybe next year.

Wonderful place, and I just love the "Grandpa's basement" ambiance!

I haven't checked by in quite a while.

Thought I'd do so tonight and wish you all a Merry Christmas.

I've not been very active with my trains lately.  I retired two years ago last August.  Since then, we've been split between two states.  We are preparing our house in Missouri for sale, and we've moved our primary address to our Michigan house.  To further complicate the situation, we have land in Kentucky that we are planning to start developing in 2021.

My trains are mostly packed, with some in Michigan and some in Missouri.  I don't have any trackage set up.  The latest thing I bought was the MKT extended vision caboose with the Blue Tooth camera.  Haven't even unpacked it yet Sad.

Glad to see most of the folks I remember still active.  I'lll try to stop around a little more often.

Good evening all,

Merry Christmas to all!   Some white stuff is dusting the ground but hopefully will not accumulate much.  Spent most of the day getting ready for tomorrow.  Granddaughter just turned 16 but the ballet does a number on people.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

MERRY CHRISTMAS

A low key Christmas Eve  without the usual gathering. Napped earlier and watched Midnight Mass from the Boston Cathedral via livestream. Now a glass Of wine before bed.

Merry Christmas again and Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic

Afternoon.  Merry Christmas.  Back from breakfast at SisterIL's..  39 degrees finally.  Was 69 yesterday and 2" of rain.  Did see a few fluries this AM.  Really cold tonight.

All stay warm and safe.

Good evening all,

An odd day.  Older daughter called an hour before lunchtime and said they had been exposed Sunday evening to someone who tested positive for COVID.  So it was just Lucas, the wife and I and my sister's family for lunch.  Younger daughter showed up later for the gift exchange and supper.  It was different than expected.  Weather was very very cold.  Just a smidge of snow to brighten things.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Afternoon all!

Survived Christmas...busy all day with just the immediate family which took it outta me...so slouching today. Got a book about the Battle of Brittain and a new hoodie.

Evenin' boys and girls. We did have a white Christmas, and a polar day after. Went up the mountain to see my folks, then Ms. Kelly fixed a nice ham dinner for Alexis, Jamie and her hubby, and me. Noticed a strand of LED I cycle lights went out, so the youngest princess and her boyfriend switched in a new set with the precision of an Indy pit crew. Tried replacing the fuses on the faulty set, with negative results.

Had nice long chat with Brent this morning. Always good talking with him.

Hi guys, we made it through the Christmas mess un-scathed. Everyone got something, I got nothing I wanted but some things I may use? A pizza cooker???? Phone holder/ and others??? Oh well so much for giving hints. All I asked for was the Menards Cripple Creek Lumber shed, guess I will get it when they go back to the next 11% off sale. But all had a good time and all came to see us so we did not travel. Sounds like most made it through, a weird year all around, pray the new one is better.
Talked to my good friend in Springtown TX, he is down to 124# and his COPD is taking what he recovered from the fight on cancer 4 years ago.   Glad he called me yesterday.

Best get. Time for left overs.  Wink

Been putting up Christmas this AM as Wifey is a worry wart.  "Lets get this stuff put up!"

Now a Wifey saga. Back in early Oct. she ordered 2 very nice hoverboards from Walmart.com. We got them in Nov. Well, seems big box only had one. Walmart showed two. She calls and gets some guy who supposedly got one shipped ASAP. Well, Wifey does not follow up. Finally I do. No such order # and no such FEDEX tacking number. So she calls. Gets nice lady. Gets supervisor who puts expedite on it. Maybe 24th. From Texas. We do check and says in route. FEDEX email says delayed due to weather in mid west. [Texas to NC, no mid west]. Well it came today with another extra one!!! Yes, so far, CC shows only one charge. Well, Saturday she rushes across the county to a Target and picks up one [not as nice and for smaller kids] so both twins will have one to open. Mom was instructed not let twin open until later. Wifey off to meet DIL with one of the boxes. Question??? If not charged, should she keep it for the inconvenience she experienced?

Have a good one.

We went to Mass this morning (Saturday morning edition), then decided to go to Mass again this evening (Sunday morning vigil) as tomorrow we are going to meet the in-laws halfway (across Wisconsin) to exchange Christmas gifts, have lunch, and pick up the wife's "new" car (2019 Subaru Outback). All with the hope of getting back home before the 30% chance of snow or 100% chance of dark hits. I also went to Scheel's to buy another box of ammo, but they are out of even the odd size I was hoping to buy. Instead, I went to Wal-Mart and bought oil and filter for my veek, it is overdue for a change. Things have been okay this Christmas, no real complaints or major inconveniences. I do keep those less healthy among us in my prayers. Thanks for letting me aboard!

Afternoon folks!

Spent the day yesterday on the sofa binging Yellowstone and some YT. Pooped from Xmas...  :D

Cleaning up a bit today and getting recycles ready for tomorrow's pickup - always a lot of cardboard and wine bottles after Xmas?

Treatment 16 and PT tomorrow - gotta rest up for that.

Yeah, ammo binge-buying's been crazy this year, can't imagine why, and I'm not trying to be funny or sarcastic, I'm a gun owner myself.   Bought two boxes of .22's several months ago and haven't used them yet.

Happy to have you Snip!

Good evening all,

It's been too long since I last posted.  Since I last posted I retired from the Air Force and moved to Tennessee.  It's good to see so many familiar folks on here.  I hope all is well.

Roy - I will be praying for you.

Joe

Good evening all,

Worked on the layouts some today.  Finished reading a book by and about Megan Rapinoe my daughter got me for Christmas.  She has had an interesting life so far and I think she has the potential to do a lot more.  Weather was warmer today but did not go outside much.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good to see Joe!

Chief, they still have two of the lumber sheds in stock at Morris so I hope to snag one. I have just enough room where the parking lot for the K-Line saw mill is. I like that Cross dock to but no place for it to fit. Guess I am at that point something goes on something has to come off.

Dennis, you nailed it!

Flint and Snip, Ammo? What is that? If I want some I have to go north to WI. for it.

Roy, take it easy!

Best move.

Good morning.  46 and cloudy but no rain guessed.  Ham biscuits and coffee.  Going to pay Wake Co. taxes and town [all billed in one]. Run and errand or two.

Repaired a Lionel diesel yesterday.  Something in the drive train gears.  Used dental pick and still didn't clear.  Turned it on its side and washed it with electrical cleaner.  Then compressed air. Took 4 washings to get it clear.  ??  Light oil and away she went.

Have a great day.

Good evening all,

Somewhat of a rainy day today.  Spent most of the day dealing with septic tank issues.  We had some hot dogs with Skyline chili for dinner tonight and I washed them down with some Yeungling Hershey Chocolate Porter.

Joe

Evening all.

Well finally got the last of the hedge cut down today, I had like 7 sets of 2-3 bushes per-set. ( Where most would only plant one bush per 18" they had 2/3 planted the same hole.) Bang Head. There were close to 30 spots when I started this.

I now have a Pile of bushes in the front yard. If I get out there early enough tomorrow I may be able to have the city get them, otherwise, it will be next Tuesday.

Demay - Perhaps I read your post wrong Dunce, or was your septic issue related to the Skyline chili...?

On a more serious tone, 88's dad has taken a turn for the worse. Keep Brent and his family in your thoughts, thanks.
