Good evening all,

Today felt like a Friday, but we're not quite there yet.  I slowed cooked a brisket in the oven and it came out great.  I hope no one gets too crazy tonight.

Fife - You know, I never even suspected that Skyline chili.  LOL

Roy - Thanks, but I am not fully retired yet.  Still plan to work another 10 years.

Prayers for Brent and his family.

Happy New Year!

Joe

Any railfans in the group?

Reason I ask is there's a young railfan videographer named Harrison who posts on the "Trains" and "Model Railroader" Forums.  He's premiering a new video of his (with a chat space) at 11:45 EST tonight.  Here's the YouTube link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jOZiCy0as8&feature=youtu.be

I've watched his videos of Upstate New York railroading and he shows a LOT of promise!  I've normally given up on staying up 'till midnight on New Years Eve but I'm staying up for this one!

Good evening all,

I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year!  I hope 2021 is better than 2020.  (If the 500 is run with fans, it will be better just by that alone.)  Went out to eat with boss from my old work and it was nice.  I hope everyone has a good day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR team!

Completed #19 today - two more weeks and a day to go. I will be glad when this is over and I can start healing up! I am starting to wear down and eating is difficult as food tastes awful. We are conditioned to spit bad food out - so very difficult to choke it down. Have lost a couple pounds.

Well my good friend made it back to DFW yesterday afternoon from Groton CT, but ended up in the hospital last night and passed. Our entire group is mourning her. She fought the good fight, but she got to hold her first grandchild and her entire family was present for that.

Time to kick 2020 out the door!

Regards, Roy

Happy New Year's Eve from Central New Jersey

46F and raining now - should turn colder later tonight and into tomorrow.....we'll not be getting the freezing rain that North Jersey will be getting.

The Princess and my Sister were over most of the afternoon cleaning out the items from my Grandmother.  Dad stashed it away many years ago left there.

Some things were trashed others were saved.  Much less stuff to move around later.

Stayed home and watched The Hunt for Red October - great movie.

I will be going over to Jenni's later,  Mom is coming over, my Sister and BIL are not coming .

Might do some light finger food shopping and a small bottle of Asti for Midnight.

Prayers for Roy, Brent's Dad and Family, MartyE's Daad and Fifemon.

Twins are on the way to their Mom.  Wifey and Sister are taking them back to Raleigh PD office.  Excuse to go shopping as I was suppose to take them.  Icon_rolleyes  56 and was raining.  Now just messy.

Twins ran trains today.  Instead of running both trains on the main lines, we did switching moves at the grain elevator.  One twin did all the moves as I instructed.  The other twin was the switchman.  Moved cars from the filled car siding and replaced them with the empty cars.  Then moved full ones to the main siding.  Then the other twin reversed the whole thing.  They thought that was fun.

USPS.  Icon_mad   Package has been sitting at the Raleigh distribution center [they call it factory undefined] since Monday. Was supposed to be delivered Monday. Talked to Rolesville Postmaster yesterday. She is really nice. Seems package has moved and should be delivered today. Her comment. "They are short staffed in the Raleigh facility." HUMM

KEV, BANG!!!!!  Need to slip north and poach.  No deer for me this year.  That is OK.  Buds got some on the farms.

Not much on agenda.

New pot tonight [in calendar]

Later

Morning all.

Well, I have been working in the train room, in the train room, not the layout. The ceiling in the train room is basically 1/4" plywood. So I'm putting up 1 x 4's where they join each other. This was a garage until I enclosed it. I think they found some leftover plywood from something else and used it. See picture

So I'm starting to get 1 x 4's to cover it up and make it look better.

I also built some shelves where there was a window at one time. I put my HO on the top two shelves and then my Lionel tractor-trailers on the next two Shelves.

The HO passenger cars are metal, from the late 50's early 70's. the one on the second shelf down I do not know how old it is, but its metal also and it's illuminated. All 4 are made by Rivarossi.

Went to the V.A. clinic today to let them play vampire and to pee in the cup. Then being the good diabetic I 'am, I went to Krispy Kreme and bought a dozen glazed doughnuts :)

Talk to you all later.

Good evening all,

Weather was in the 40s today and now it is snowing?!?!?!  Binge watched the first season of H--- on Wheels tonight.  Thought there would be more about the railroad.  Guess not.  Did get a lot of errands done today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

USPS had a package listed as comming to me sitting in Peru IL for 3 weeks and POP it is now just gone???? This year with the COVID on-line shopping, election mail in ballots and deep cuts made to USPS by people who wanted them to fail, what did you think would happen. Can't say I blame the post office.

We got about 5" of the white stuff yesterday afternoon. It has melted down to slop and now it is freezing. Bang Head

Sorry for your loss Brent. Seems he went fast. Angel

It sat in Naperville, Il. 3 days - then Des Moines Ia. 4 days - next Cincinati, Oh 3 days -  on to Memphis, Tn 3 days - then Warrendale, Pa. 2 days - next Hazelwood, Mo 5 days - now back to Des Moines, 2 days so far.

what has this trip cost? And of course still not here.      Wayne

Lady Firestorm sympathises with you Chief, there's packages she's sent to family up in Pennsylvania over two weeks ago that aren't there yet.  Typically it only takes a few days.

Morning. 35 and some clouds. Headed east to pay taxes and light up the inside of the barn with my used florescent shop lights. No hunting as wet and flooded with full moon.  Season is over for me.

Sorry for your loss Brent.  Prayers.

Package sitting in Raleigh USPS for days.  Suppose to be delivered Monday.  Still there.  USPS is getting horrible.  Lost a package from REF.  They sent me another one.  Folks all around on Nextdoor complaining about missing packages.  Seems not the local delivery but the distribution center in Raleigh.

Have a good one.

Good evening all,

Sorry to hear the news about Brent's father.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.  Went to the movies for the first time since September.  Saw Tom Hanks' "News of the World".  Excellent flick, not for kids.  Got a good walk in as well.  Heading to Indy tomorrow to do some errands.  Weather supposed to be wet and warmer.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning. Up at 7:30 and beat Wifey up. 48 now but this AM guessers was spouting out 37 degrees and the weather station was indicating 43. Went out with Wiley and it seemed a lot warmer. Sunny and beautiful day.

Errands to run, let out and back in Granddogs at noon and Lunch with developer GF [get the story on her sending hubby away undefined I think the problem was he would not keep a job.] Do some outside work. Get ready to go east tomorrow and pay farm taxes. Add some lighting in the barn. Hunt if not flooded.

Prayers for Brent's Dad.

Enjoy the day.

Prayers for Brent's Dad, MartyE's Dad, FifeMom and Roy.....

Welcome back, Joe D!

Christmas was nice - Christmas eve with Jenni's family and the Feast of the 7 Fishes (I had speghetti).  Storemed and rained like crazy - Jenni did get the exact movie replica of the infamous Leg Lamp from a Christmas Story.

Christmas Day was at my Princess's and she did an amzing job....food was spectacular.

Sunday I got DCC installed on Jenni's N scale layout, she had an SD35 Penn Central that took full advantage of the sound card.  Pretty cool.  Watched the movie Fatman to wrap up the weekend.

Last night, Jenni came over after work and we went to see Dad....Yesterday was the 1st anniversary of him leaving for heaven.

Visited the other relatives while there and also my Godfather, who was taken too early.

Had dinner at a diner near home then back to Mom's house for a quick visit and loaded Jenni up with a slice each of Pecan and Pumpkin pies.

Jenni is trying to organize a NYE party at her house - just family but we'll see how that goes.  The Princess has already committed to going to her friend's house in PA.

Dusting of snow this morning and breezy now.  Sunny later and 36 now up to 39F (if we're lucky).

Over to Jenni's tonight for food shopping and getting her recycles out for tomorrow.

Back later - work is calling.....lol

Good evening all,

Prayers for Brent's dad as well.  Quiet day.  Did some work tonight for work.  Better than getting up at 7 AM and doing it.  Weather was ugh today.  Did go out to the shed to look at some more of the Marx stuff I received this summer.  Found track clips and some sizes of track outside the normal O-27 stuff.  Looks like some 11" straights and some O-31/O-34 curves (not sure which).  Fascinating stuff.  All sorts of tasks for tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all!

#16 in the books - 17 tomorrow!

Joe - WOW - so great to hear from you and welcome back! And welcome to retirement!

Thanks Fife - prayers for Brent's dad and others in need! Particularly one of my best friend of 40+ years. She has cancer, was in Groton Connecticut visiting her son (Navy Subs comms officer), DIL, and first granddaughter for several months through the holidays. Took a downward turn and is having to be medical transported (vehicle) back to Dallas area starting tomorrow (2 or 3 days). Husband and daughter driving along to bring their car back. Keep her/them in your prayers!

Regards, Roy

Demay - Perhaps I read your post wrong Dunce, or was your septic issue related to the Skyline chili...?

On a more serious tone, 88's dad has taken a turn for the worse. Keep Brent and his family in your thoughts, thanks.

Evening all.

Well finally got the last of the hedge cut down today, I had like 7 sets of 2-3 bushes per-set. ( Where most would only plant one bush per 18" they had 2/3 planted the same hole.) Bang Head. There were close to 30 spots when I started this.

I now have a Pile of bushes in the front yard. If I get out there early enough tomorrow I may be able to have the city get them, otherwise, it will be next Tuesday.

Good evening all,

Somewhat of a rainy day today.  Spent most of the day dealing with septic tank issues.  We had some hot dogs with Skyline chili for dinner tonight and I washed them down with some Yeungling Hershey Chocolate Porter.

Regards,

Joe
