Flint - been a volunteer firefighter since 1974 - did 18 years in FLA USA - I know no other way. At my age, a lot of guys are sitting back and doing a lot of observing. I'm fortunate I am still in the game and at a high level.
Thank you for the complement - I appreciate it very much!

TGIF the 13th!!! Working on 5 hours sleep. After meeting, went to get dinner at BK was toned out for a fire alarm and then had dinner - cold. I got called out 15 minutes later, multi vehicle accident, NJTP South bound car lanes. I made the rescue truck as there was an assumed entrapment. Responding in the rescue, confirmed two active CPRs in progress, 1 vehicle on fire and fully involved, 4 injured. No entrapment upon arrival, medics were on scene taking over CPR from the troopers. 5 cars involved. 4 transported to local med centers, 2 DOA. Home in bed by 2, another call at 430, I was beat up enough and stayed home. Never get used to stuff like this.Nominated for VP of the department last night. We'll see how this shakes out. Hoping for new Chief - maybe get Captain of Lieutenant position so we can get new blood in the line officers. Training and experience is what I offer. And no judgement like some of the officers.Raining and nasty right now, 50ish or so.Chief - That's horrible - I will agree, what's a young kid doing out in a storm like that?Prayers for Roy - you got this!!
Prayers for MartyE's Dad!
Off to work
58 degrees and trying to dry out. 5" of rain. Roads closed down east. Rocky Mount NC had 9". Sun to come out by noon they guess. Not much happening. Drank a lot of coffee and a BoJ's porkchop biscuit.Wifey has up two Christmas trees. Two more today. Told her wait until Thanksgiving. No way. Started pointing out trees already up in houses we drive by. Probably trying to bring cheer to the virus gloom. Enjoy the day.
Had a kid drown. Sad. Kids were playing in a creek during a majopr rain event???

Good Evening,
WOW!! Roy, sure doesn't sound like a fun time!! Didn't seem like you signed up for all this a few weeks ago. No question in my mind you sure are handling this extremely well. IF there was ANYTHING I can do to help you I sure would!! Prayers !!!
Chief, saw some of the flooding on the news tonight, even the bridge that collapsed. Sure feel for all those affected! Just wonder how much more can 2020 through at us? Repeating and cycling storms? Definetly think you've made the right decision regarding Fred and the camper!
Makes everything in my life seem rather inconsequencial! Today, been unpacking boxes, sorting VHS, tapes, CDs, and DVDs. Probably more of the same tomorrow.
Did get a email picture from John Fullerton today, it was the leaf fallout, tremendous! Oak tree in his backyard.
It is still cold here, getting to the low 40's at night. The local mountains are trying to open for skiing, if the county lets them.
Hope everyone has a good week-end, and be safe!
Don
Good evening from a clear 49°F Southern Ohio,
Wow how time flies. Been super busy at work and working on the kitchen redo. Got a section of the floor leveled and the new stove in. Getting close to tearing out the sink area. Bride happy; happy wife happy life! New pup getting bigger fast and is almost house broke. My bride is in covid quarantine due to an exposure. She is going for testing Saturday. I may move into the camper
Stated reading back and a lot has been going on in the Pot.
Roy – You are in my prayers
May God bless you and you families
Jim
What happened? Never mind, I know bloody well what happened.
fifedog Roy - A) You got this. B) If possitive attitude (and a little humor) matters, your cancer doesn't stand a chance. C) I've ordered a cute little nurse's costume from DK.

About 5 inches of rain. West of us in Alexander Co., reporter reporting on flooded river and buildings. Section of a big bridge collapsed in front of her.
Section of I 95 near Wilson NC is closed. Earlier I 85 was closed near Charlotte.
Roy, During my periods of crappy side effects and food either couldn't be eaten and the stuff I could tasted like @@@@. I ended up drinking lots of shakes and malts. They tasted good, lots of calories and they didn't go straight thru, if you know what I mean.
anjdevil2Lots of abnormalities when it comes to this election - with 265+ affidavits, there seems to be a lot of, um, "fraud".
No doubt, and in the usual expected places, but there's two chances of proving it, slim and none. What are you gonna do?
Best wishes to you Mr. McClellan! Hang in there!
Hi guys!
A quick check-in. The last two days I have felt reasonably decent, but the nerve to my right shoulder that got bruised due to the surgery (an anticipated side affect) is giving me fits and a lot of pain in the right arm/shoulder. Makes it difficult to sleep. Throat is pretty good but still healing. Have gained back 5 of the 15 lbs I lost. I am able to eat more normal foods, but carefully. Have to sip drinks and that is permanent due to the change in the shape of the roof of my mouth. Chemo has been ruled out (yeah!) - there is only one drug for this type of cancer and the permanent side effects of the drug FAR outweigh any minor benefit the docs can predict. Radiation is definite and is tentatively scheduled to start Nov 30 (Mon). That is dependent on getting fitted for a custom mask for my face/neck, CT scan to map my neck physiology, tests by the physics engineer, radiation techs, and docs on the machine without me in it to ensure the radiation is going to the correct locations in the throat and neck. Once all that is done then the start date will be confirmed.
Never thought I would end up as a target for a nuclear particle beam accelerator (WOW!)
Radiation will be daily, 5 days a week except Christmas/New Years holidays - total of 30 sessions. About the 3rd week the fatigue, inability to swallow (may lose a lot of weight again), very sore throat, lack of saliva production (causes tooth rot/cavities & affects swallowing), etc. may/will hit. Most of these things should resolve by Feb hopefully. If I am one of the lucky ones I may not suffer too badly.
So hopefully I get around 3 weeks of feeling somewhat decent. I have first PT session for the right arm nerve Friday of next week. Could not get in sooner.
As they say - "it is what it is" - and with a smile and a nod, 'til next time!
Regards, Roy
Happy Pre Friday!!!Prayers for MartyE's Dad and Roy
Raining - now wind 60 as the hi today.Lots of abnormalities when it comes to this election - with 265+ affidavits, there seems to be a lot of, um, "fraud".Did as expected - couch, dinner then bed.......Fire Dept. Monthly Meeting tonight - hope to be done early. That is all.....
POURING!!!! Rain and more rain. Some parts of NC over 8 inches and still raining. New word is I 85 in Charlotte closed. Sump pump working hard. All from a front from the west sucking moisture from the ocean. Not ETA. This front will push ETA out into the ocean instead of NC.
Marty, good news on Dad
Got a award thingy at RFD for deceased fireman that was good friend this afternoon. Rush home to do computer thingy with El Centro.
Country needs to back down from all its activities as the virus is increasing. Wifey and I are scaling back even though we have been careful. Probably not hunt but half days as not staying in camper with Fred. He ignores all precautions. One of those.
Stay safe and well.
Morning all.
Dad continues to do well. Less oxygen still, no fever, and good vitals. Many thanks for the prayers and well wishes. At 91, 92 in December, this is the absolute best scenario.
Weather turned colder. Started some wiring on some Woodland Scenic buildings. Hoping to get them installed this weekend. I need some down time. Looking forward to a 4 day weekend. Was supposed to go to Ticonderoga again to see Shatner but it got cancelled so I'll just use the days for R and R.
Hello there,
THANKS TO ALL OUR VETERANS!!!Prayers for Marty's Dad.Continued Prayers for Roy. Why the fuss about a name?Got over an inch of much needed rain today. Indian summer is over, back to normal tomorrow. Been AWOL a couple of days. Still really bummed about the election. I'm convinced there were games being played with votes. Enough to change the outcome? Don't know but changes need made for the future. I see a divide in our country that is only getting worse. It seems both sides are becoming extremists and no one is left in the middle. 'Nuff said Got most of the outside stuff done. Surprised how dry the ground was when digging bulbs the other day. Started gathering leaves and the belt that runs the blower came unglued, no shame it was over 40 years old. Replaced that and got almost done when the reverse clutch on the Gravely died (there's one for each direction) we have a parts tractor with a good one. Hopefully get it changed after tomorrow morning visit to endo doc. Probably catch he!!, numbers and weight both up a bit. Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.

Good evening all,
Finally managed to get wife out of the house today. We took a delightful trip to Anderson, Indiana to see the Madison County Historical Society. A very nice building had been donated to the group about 15 years ago and it houses many exhibits. There is a collection of doll houses and seven train layouts of various sizes and scales. There are other exhibits that we did not have time for but have motivated us to make a return trip (COVID permitting). The weather was cooler but still sunny and a good day was had by all. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
WOW, we lost 30 degrees in 20 hours and it is heading east. Winter, bet SJ is happy!
Spent the day going from picking up leaves to picking up limbs from the 80 mph winds last night when the front came through. What a mess. The best thing is it stripped the trees so I think I am done with leaves for 2020. Had a nice burn pile of down limbs and I just put it down. Hope that is it for this year.???
On to the next thing.
anjdevil2Just as an aside, if you wanted to know who I am, you could've ASKED......Judge not less ye be judged.
Not to worry Rich, everyone knows who you are and no need to ask. No Rant here.

Got through our Veterans' Day ceremony without rain. Out of courtesy, my garden club lady leading the ceremony, asked new Mayor to speak. As usual, he can't speak and pronounce words correctly. Went fine besides that. Was wearing my US Army Veteran hat. Went several places. Only the young lady at McDonald's [picking up dogs some burgers for food for heart worm pills] said, "Happy Veteran's Day. Thank you for your service."Drove to Wake Forest. Flooded and thunderstorm. Took Wifey to mall. Coming back flooded and thunderstorm. In November!Weather station shows 1.29" [adjusted on that part yesterday, if wrong will back up screw]. 76 degrees.

Gov. Newsolini has dropped the hammer again, museum is closed til Dec 1st and I would be willing to bet it won't be allowed to reopen till Jan 1st, of 2021.
With all these regulations requiring the ability to trace visitors to commercial institutions why is it all these pronouncements from government are not backed up with documentation of origin and transmission of said outbreaks.
It is the same control mechanism as was used in the election: "Figures never lie but liars can figure".

anjdevil2 and that store from Delaware
Sounds like "JustTrains" from Newark. That's New-ARK according to the Delaware pronunciation. I visited the old location in the center of town about 10+ years ago and it was PACKED with good stuff! I tried the new location about five years ago but it was locked up tight, all the staff were at the York fall show. Luckily I hadn't made a special trip, I was heading home from a training class anyway but I was just a little annoyed, it takes your whole staff to do a train show? Maybe in their case it does, I don't know.
Anyway, I do miss the festival atmosphere of the train shows, that's almost the best part! We've got a show of our own coming up this weekend if COVID panic doesn't cancel it. Not on the scale of a Greenberg show but fun just the same.
smokey1 Happy Veterans Day to my fellow Veterans.
Happy Veterans Day to my fellow Veterans.
And this old Marine says "Semper Fi" to you, sailor!
Happy Veterans Day!!!Just as an aside, if you wanted to know who I am, you could've ASKED......Judge not less ye be judged. Rant over and done.As far as Greenburg's is concerned - MOST of the vendors are all local, save for Gryzbowski's and that store from Delaware - the name escapes me right now, and Jenni and myself have an opportunity to see those dealers we can't always get to, like Larry Lillo from Holly Beach in Wildwood. The assortment is large, the crowds are upbeat and friendly and we can immerse ourselves in the world of model railroading. It's an escape and it's fun. Our Fuhrer is hell bent on screwing us big time with little regard for their livelihood. And you wonder why some LHSs are going under???Last real beautiful night last night, temps will drop as will the rain later today. Meeting went well and ran over to visit Jenni and have a short dinner with her before getting home later than I wanted.Off night tonight, might wind up on the couch or bed. Yes, I'm that tired. Had trouble sleeping and then had a vehicle rescue call.....1 dead 4 injured. No, I did not go, I was not coherent enough due to lack of sleep. So, off to work I go - thank you,Veterans, for watching our backs, the sacrifices you have made for us and keeping us free. I'm a Navy brat - still, I get it. It's our first Veterans Day without Dad........We still fly the Navy Flag in honor of Dad, with the USMC flag and the Fire Dept. flags under it.
Prayers for Marty's Dad and Roy continue.Back later, Dudes!!
